Cannot enable secure imap authentication

I cannot enable CRAM-MD5 for imap services in server admin. Whenever I select the cram-md5 checkbox and click on save, serveradmin looks as if it's saving the new setting, but the interface always reverts back to "clear".
This happens when I select cram-md5 and clear, and also when I just select cram-md5 (i.e. require cram-md5).
I get similar behaviour when I try to enable apop for pop3 mail service.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

I was scared to attempt the recommended solution of "Reset to Setup Mode" and "Restore Factory Keys", but it actually worked for me!

  • Outlook 2010 cannot use Secure Password Authentication

I am the administrator of the server running Microsoft Windows 2003 Server POP3 service since 2008. It hosts my email account. Nobody but me manages the settings of the server and the client side. Until the moment I decided to install Microsoft Outlook
2010 as a client there was Secure Password Authentication working between Outlook 2003 and Windows 2003 Server. After installing of Outlook 2010, when I try to sync, the SPA authentication doesn't work. Nothing is changed on the server side.
Enabling the SPA authentication on the both sides results a communicaton problem between Microsoft Windows 2003 Server POP3 service and Microsoft Outlook 2010 client. When I disable SPA on both sides the connection works but password is sent
as plain text. Actually I started a discussion on
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/outlook-2010-cannot-use-secure-password/66dafd66-1b00-43b5-96fb-b8a26254fc77 but I didn't receive an answer with a solution.

    Snefels,
This is actually a known issue that Outlook 2010 doesn't work well with Windows Server 2003 POP services.
Here is the blog post for the issue:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jjameson/archive/2010/04/26/outlook-2010-does-not-work-with-windows-server-2003-pop3-service.aspx
If you read the comments below, you'll found that some readers' shared some workaround/solutions, which reportedly works for others. So you might want to have a look.
Disable SPA on the Windows 2003 POP3 server and do the same in Outlook 2010 POP setup.. using the full email address, "[email protected]" instead of just doug (if using the Secure Password Authentication).

  • WRT54GS v.6 cannot enable security mode.

    hey guys,
I've tried everything, even a firmware upgrade and I've been using IE and I cannot enable any security.  anytime I try to select WPA or WEP or anything it refreshes automatically back to "disabled".  I've tried multiple resets as well and am extremely confused....this is a new comp. but it seems odd for that to be a problem.
    thanks and best,
    Adam

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since the last firmware upgrade, please do this now and see if it corrects your problem.   If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.  You must setup the router from scratch.
See ***  RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULTS ***  below, for how to reset your router to factory defaults.
If the above does not fix your problem, then you probably have a communication problem between your computer and router.  To fix this, do the following:
You do not need an Internet connection. The router's "web pages" are built into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is wired to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall.
Point your browser to 192.168.1.1 , then login to your router. Your user name should be left blank. Your password is "admin" (with no quotes), unless you changed it.
If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: Open the ZAISS control center, go to Privacy, then temporarily turn off Ad Blocking and Cookie Control, and see if that fixes your problem.
Some Zone Alarm users have reported that adding 192.168.1.1 to their list of "trusted" addresses fixed the problem. This trick might also work with other firewalls.
If you are using Noton Internet Security with the Add-on Pack, be sure to turn off the Pop-up Blocker, and the Ad blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall the entire Norton Add-on Pack.
If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
If the above fails, disconnect your modem from the router, and try again. If this corrects your problem, then most likely you have a "modem-router" rather than an ordinary modem. Report back with this problem, and also state the make and exact model number of your modem (not the router).
If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.
If all of the above tips fail, then reset the router to factory defaults: Power down the router and disconnect all wires from it. Wait one minute. Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release the button and allow the router to reset and reboot ( 2-3 minutes). Power down router. Wait one minute. Connect one computer, by wire, to a LAN port on the router. Boot up system. It should work.
If you still have trouble, then you need to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware for your router. After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
How to do a    ***  RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULTS ***
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is likely dead. Report back with this problem
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. Report back with this problem.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

I have attempted to ENABLE Secure Boot multiple times but Secure Boot Status remains DISABLED
This problem occured after BIOS Upgrade to v3.07
    I have Lenovo G510 Laptop

I have tried the recommended solution of "Reset to Setup Mode" and "Restore Factory Keys".
This did not solve the problem, Secure Boot Status still indicates DISABLED.
Please suggest an alternative solution to this problem.

  • SGD 4.7 - Cannot enable Active Directory authentication

I've followed the steps in the Admin Guide, and have a service object created.  Running tarantella service list --name service_name produces the following output (obfuscated):
    Name:  service_name
    Enabled: 1
    Url: ad://url_to_dc
    Base-domain: same as above
    Security-mode: kerberos
    Type: ad
...all of which looks correct.  I've added the recommended log filters.  Directory services (server/directoryservices/*) returns the following INFO message when attempting a logn:
    No Login authorities are available.
The configured service objects will not be used.
When I click the "Test" button in the service object property screen, the above log fills with what look like appropriate log messages and a Success result from the AD server, then the above message is displayed.  Running the tarantella config list | grep login command produced the following output:
    login-ad-base-domain:  same domain as above
    login-ad-default-domain: ""
    login-ldap-thirdparty-ens: 1
    login-lday-thirdparty-profile: 1

Name resolutions fails: OSGD server must be able to resolve the global catalog server
Timeserver: OSGD server must have the same time as the AD
    Wrong /etc/krb5.conf
    Global Catalog Server
Check, if the domain has a global catalog server:

  • Cann't enable security on listen socket

I create a listen socket on port 6666. I would like to enable security on this port. But the pull down menu of the "security" menu at "add Listen Socket" page only has "disable". why? how to fix it?
Actually all the listen sockets cannot enable security. only has "disable" to choose
    Thanks for advice!

Did you already create the security database and install a certificate? You may need a cert database with certs installed before you try to enable security on the listen sockets. Here are the docs:

  • Imap authentication fail error  - cannot email pdf

!I installed acrobat XI about 6 months ago and still have not been able to figure out how to get it to send a pdf other than closing it. Copying it from file location and then posting in an amail. HIGHLY ANNOYING!!! When i try send directly from open pdf i get imap authentication error. I use WIN 365 subscription provided by my company. PLEASE HELP!!!

Generally Acrobat communicates with e-mail packages using IMAP. It may be that your e-mail package does not have IMAP implemented or activated. More information on your client and OS would be useful in trying to help. I still have one machine I could never get Acrobat to talk with my e-mail package, even though IMAP is active. So I don't have perfect answers, but generally have found that the IMAP is either a system or client issue, not an Acrobat issue.

  • Secure IMAP broken in Leopard

Major troubles with secure IMAP and Leopard.
It won't allow me to access an IMAP account thru port 993 (despite selecting the proper port # and security check box.)
Each time it tries, it gives an error "Cannot connect" error, and takes the account offline. The connection doctor is unhelpful, telling me to check network connections, etc.
It has no trouble connecting insecurely/via port 143.
The cert on the server is valid, and Thunderbird has no such problems on the same machine.
Anyone have any clue? This seems like a legit bug in Leopard, and a frustrating one at that!

I'm using a Macbook connected via DVI-HDMI to a Samsung LE40M86. As mentioned I am unable to choose 1920x1080p, it only displays 1080i.
Though my Macbook detects the display as a Samsung so I guess that thing works.
Regarding the 1080p/i disfunctionality I did find a temporary fix on google but I cant find it any more. The guy clearly stated that it was working though not just displaying 1080p as an option.
Follow these steps and you shall be able to use 1080p via DVI-HDMI:
    1. Enable the Display "button" in the menu bar (top right) under Settings (or some').
    2. In Main(!) Resolution window set res to 1920x1080 (interlaced).
    3. When done, switch to a lower res (a random one).
    4. Change back to 1920x1080 (interlaced).
    5. Check the Display "button" in menubar and you will see two 1920x1080 (If not jump to step 7), one of them is interlaced the other progressive.
    6. Try them out, one should work.
    7. If you're not seeing two 1920x1080, change "max no's of previous resolutions used" somewhere under Settings.
This worked for me, I think. Though I'd like a real Apple-ish fix.
    Good Luck!
A sum up of my problem,
Leopard is not displaying 1920x1080 (progressive) as an option.

    Please help.
    thanks in advance

I've tried every trick in the book but no luck and finally I found a solution for this problem. Maybe it is not the best practice but it works:
    1-Uninstall JDeveloper.
2-Delete Oracle Middleware file located in C:\Oracle
3-Delete the JDeveloper file located in C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\Roaming (Because the integrated Weblogic server is actually there)
    4-Reinstall JDeveloper
    That solved the issue.
    Thanks

  • Windows 8.1 Ent eval enabled Secure Boot I think

I want to get my laptop back to its original format.
    Currently dual booting Windows7/8.1
During the installation of Windows 8.1 Enterprise evaluation it paused to say it was going to enable secure boot.  I did'nt think much of it I thought I could change it back from the bios.  Did it flash my firmware?  I checked the system status
with msinfo32.exe; was legacy mode and with powershell; secure boot not supported.  I don't have any options to disable secure boot in the bios nor from within Windows -"I know how to disable it in windows 8.1".  I can't boot a foreign
operating system, but I can boot a Microsoft OS which sounds like secure boot to me.  I want to get it back to running Windows 7 dual booting with Linux.  I use both at work and need both.  I made the mistake by loading the Eval on my primary
laptop.  I read I need to revert back to Windows 7 completely, formating and re-installing the OS.  Will this clear my secure boot simulation issue?  I have not changed the partitions or removed any O/S's.   What's the best way
    to proceed?

    Hi,
I want to explain that, Secure Boot is indepent with system, you can disable it in UEFI interface.
To disable Secure Boot, you can follow the steps below:
1.Before disabling Secure Boot, consider whether it is necessary. From time to time, your manufacturer may update the list of trusted hardware, drivers, and operating systems for your PC. To check for updates, go to Windows Update, or check your manufacturer's
    website.
2.Open the PC BIOS menu. You can often access this menu by pressing a key during the bootup sequence, such as F1, F2, F12, or Esc.
Or, from Windows, hold the Shift key while selecting Restart. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options: UEFI Firmware Settings.
3.Find the Secure Boot setting, and if possible, set it to Disabled. This option is usually in either the Security tab, the Boot tab, or the Authentication tab.
4.Save changes and exit. The PC reboots.
I found an aticle that teach how to install dual-boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 on a PC with UEFI hardware:
    http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2012/10/11/dual-boot-windows-7-and-ubuntu-12-04-on-a-pc-with-uefi-hardware/
    Hope this helps.

  • Enabling HTTPS level authentication in SOAP adapter (PI 7.1)

    Hi,
I am using SOAP to SOAP scenario using HTTPS level authentication in PI 7.11
As per the SAP Note https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=891877
We have enabled HTTPS level authentication in sender communication channel using SOAP adapter (version 7.0).
But We are not able to have the HTTPS level authentication option in sender communication channel using SOAP adapter (version 7.1) while selecting the adapter type.
    Please suggest on this

    Hello Gabriel,
You are right,  that option is still available in PI 7.1
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/EN/fc/5ad93f130f9215e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    But disappeared in PI 7.11
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/48/3555240bea31c3e10000000a42189d/frameset.htm
The closest seems to be under Security Profile S/MIME. And when you use the sender cc in sender agreement, you are given the choice for validation/decryption/decryption and validation/validation and decryption.
    Hope this helps,
    Mark

  • How do you globally enable security?

I defined a port 443 listen socket, a virtual server class and virtual server for SSL. However when I apply the changes I get the following error:
<web-server>/config/server.xml, line 25, column 407: Security is globally disabled in this server instance. Secure servers cannot be enabled
How can I enable security? Where is "globally disabled"?
    Thank you!

I figured it out. It's in chapter 6 of the Admin Guide. There is a section called "Configuring Security Globally".

  • I cannot perform security update with Mac OS X v10.411

I cannot perform security update with Mac OS X v10.411.  My Mac Book Pro is super behind concerning updates and security.

Yes, I too have that problem.  And, I have actually been hacked into, had all of my files, folders, photos, applications, sys pref, (in-other-words) EVERYTHING copied and recopied.   It has been a nightmare.  My identity was completely stolen.  What makes it worse is that when I told apple ~ I was told by 1 Apple Supervising Technician that I was out of my mind and that it wasn't possible.  He was very dismissive and treated me if I were some kind of idiot.  Well, check out below.  This is since Saturday or Sunday last.  I didn't authorize this and I sure as **** don' know who any of these people are.
I installed the 10.5 disk.  And I too, like many Macbook Pro users had the "Black Screen" bug.  So I had to go back to 10.4.  I went back and this is what I inherited.   I now rarely have control over the computer, never my printer and I my security has been and is constantly being compromised.  I believe that Apple needs to own up to this and, perhaps, do something about it?  Am I asking too much?
