Cannot fax from my 8600 printer. I have wireless connectivity -- no active telephone line.

I am using Windows XP, and an HP OfficePro 8600 All-in-One.  I cannot send or receive faxes.  I ran the fax test and according to that, I have to have an active wall jack.  I have wireless connectivity for computer and TV.  Is there a way to make the fax work?  Will appreciate any help.  Thanks.

Hi,
This is vignesh B.
Welcome to HP Consumer Support Forum. I am happy to assist you!
Please use this link to get more troubleshooting steps :
I see here that you are not able to send / receive fax.
We need to have the active phone jack connected to the printer from the wall outlet.
Only then, printer will start sending / receiving faxes.
Please make sure you connect the two conductor faxing cable that comes along with the printer.
If you have the printer software installed on the computer.
Please open that printer software where you will get an option to run the fax setup wizard.
please try to send fax once you are done with the fax setup wizard.
Please contact 1-800-474-6836 for any assistance. We work 24*7.
Thank you for choosing HP. Have a wonderful day ahead.

  • I cannot fax from my Officejet 8600 Plus.

     It has faxed until now. However, when I look at all of the Fax items in the 8600 display, they read:  "This feature has been disabled. For more information contact the administrator."  I have also seen references to the Setup.
    FYI.  I cannot use the Test Fax feature or any other way of determining the source of the problem or the cure, because whenever I try I get the same message, above.
    How can I enable the Fax part of the 8600?

    hi,
     "This feature has been disabled. For more information contact the administrator."  is due to your Fax function has been disabled, please following below steps to enable fax for your printer.

  • Cannot fax from my iMac to my Officejet Pro 8500A Plus A910g

    I have researched HP help and followed the directions on how to add the fax to my available printers, but when I try to fax a document, the printer prints 3 pages with one line ofcode on each but does not fax the document. If I use the fax feature on the 8500A, it works as designed. I can scan from the 8500A to the iMac and print from the iMan to the 8500A. I would like to be able to fax documents from the iMac without printing them and then faxing.

    Hi A-BPlumber,
    I would like to help you be able to send a fax from your mac without having to print it. Please ensure you are choosing the Fax driver next to the printer selection in the 'print' dialog box.
    Please take a look at the following document to ensure you have all of the appropriate settings correct; Sending Faxes Using the Fax Utility - Mac OS X
    I hope this helps.

  • Cannot fax from screen on 6310.

    Printer and fax were working fine but could not fax from screen.  In trying to upload a new driver I messed everything up. Now in order to update I need to find  driver that works.  Apparently the 6310 has been discontinued with no updates available. Win XP. IE8.  All help appreciated.

    to be honest i have no idea then.
    But in your logs i see:
    18 16:47:55.138: //1866/5BE70897804F/CCAPI/cc_api_call_disconnect_done:
    Disposition=0, Interface=0x466E185C, Tag=0x0, Call Id=1866,
    Call Entry(Disconnect Cause=47, Voice Class Cause Code=0, Retry Count=0)
    and Cisconnect cause 47 means: Resource Unavailable, Unspecified. This cause is used to report a resource unavailable event only when no other cause will apply.
    Maybe you'd better to investigate your faxserver....

  • Cannot change from System Default Printer

    Using Windows XP (still, I know) and Adobe Reader XI, I am unable to switch from the default printer to another printer in Adobe Reader. I am able to do this in all other applications except Reader.
    I can change the default printer in Windows, open Reader and print to another printer, but the print dialog box doesn't allow me to change the default printer.
    I can select another printer from the drop down box. Then, I'm unable to open the printer settings dialog. If I click print, it sends the job to the default printer instead of the one I've chosen.
    The issue persists for multiple users on this pc even after creating new user profiles in Windows. I have about 10 printers installed on this machine and this happens with all of them. Different makes and models (Brother & Konica Minolta mostly) and also the default Microsoft XPS printer all do the same thing.
    TD;LR: I can only print to the Windows default printer.

    function printFullPEng() {
    var pp = this.getPrintParams();
    var pSize = this.getPageBox("Crop");
    if (pSize[1] > "792") {pp.printerName = "\\\\print-server\\HP Designjet 4000 HPGL2/RTL (Copy 1)";}
    else {pp.printerName = "\\\\print-server\\TOSHIBA 4520C PCL6 - Engineering";};
    pp.NumCopies = 1;
    pp.pageHandling = pp.constants.handling.none;
    fv = pp.constants.flagValues;
    pp.flags = (fv.setPageSize);
    this.print(pp);
    This is tied to a menu button. As I say, it works flawlessly in Acrobat 9, but will not change printers in Acrobat X.

  • Need to fax from my hp printer

    Faxing

    Hey @Barbdeak !
    Thanks for chatting on the HP forums!
    I would be happy to assist you with fax setup!
    Fax setup is relatively the same on all HP printers but some HP printers use a feature called eFax. EFax is only supported by the HP Cloud Services department. I can provide you with information regarding Setting Up the All-in-One to Send and Receive Faxes.
    If your printer is using the eFax feature then you will need to call HP Cloud Services.  Please call our Cloud Services at 855-785-2777.  If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.  http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html
    Here is a link to the Supported Printers for eFax. This should help you determine if you need to call HP Cloud Services or follow the document provided.
    Let me know if this was useful information and please post back with the results of your troubleshooting.I hope this was helpful.

  • Can I send a fax from my Macbook Pro Retina OSx wirelessly?

    I need to submit documents via fax for "security reasons" I do not own a fax machine nor do I have a telephone line. Yes I could go to the local Post Office and pay for them to be sent but if I can do with my new MacBook Pro I would prefer to do it that way.
    Is there a a way to do this without download a program or signing up to a "Fax.com" webpage.
    Thanks

    Use eFax to receive faxes. make sure you sign up for the free account and make sure you tell them your preference is to receive a fax are in TIFF format not in their fax program.
    To send faxes for free use:
    http://www.gotfreefax.com/
    Very simple both are free.
    http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_to_receive_free_faxes_online_web.html
    Some fax services offer free send, some free recieve, but not both- The idea is to divide and conquer.

  • Cannot Fax from Satellites to Lexmark 1270

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S2306 connected to a Lexmark X1270 that I want to use to send faxes. The laptop has Toshiba Software Modem for the modem driver. When I try to configure a fax driver in the Lexmark All-In-One Center (1200 Series) software, the only options it gives me are "Lexmark All-In-One Center (1200 Series)" and "Microsoft XPS Document Writer".
    Can someone help me?

    The Lexmark X1270 does not include fax functionality, according to the product specs:

  • After crossing over from Office to Pages I have a continuing problem with spacing with line spacing. Hopefully you can assist me in sorting this out.

    If I am working on a document and happen to run a heading and body copy as follows
    Australian maritime history. The story of Australia etc
    or if I type as following:
    Australian maritime history.
    The story of Australia etc
    THEN if I go back to the document and I want to move the 'The story of' section to the next line... and hit 'return' it leaves a line space under that headline.
    Ditto... if I go back to the second example and make the headiline 'bold' it once again leaves a line space.
    Office was easy to correct as you simply highlighted the space and deleted.
    not so in Pages..... the line spacing % bar (under inspector) does not allow for such correction... instead it crunches up the body copy of the paragraph.
    I assume it is some default setting - but where and how?
    Thanks
    Warren

    Hard to follow what you are saying, but if you are using styles they all have their own formats.
    Can you point us to the specfic template you are using? Or show us a screen snap (command shift 4) of the issue.
    It does sound like one of the styles either has a space before or after the paragraph or a combination of the two:
    Inspector > Text > Text > Before/After Paragraph
    This exists in Ms Word as well.

  • 8600 FAX address book - Faxing from MS Word 2010

    HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-in-One - N911n FAX
    When I FAX directly from Word 2010 / Win7Pro 64 desktop to the 8600, an address book of sort pops up.  I have several numbers in it now.  It’s there the next time I FAX.
    It is NOT speedial – that is empty except the factory inserted faxback number.
    I cannot find the software access to this address book.  I think back in the G85 days, one would just bring up the main printer software, click on FAX, and there was an entry for the address book.  I could be wrong – I didn’t use it much.  Didn't the software actually give you direct access to the speeddial?  BTW - what a pain - how many steps to get to speeddial on the 8600?  about 312?
    Anyway – what is this address book, and how do I get software access to add/edit etc.  Or, do I have to pretend to want to send a FAX to get to it everytime?
    All software and drivers current to last week.
    [man, ain't this printer the greatest - i made the mistake of buying my first and last Lxxxxxk a few years ago  - this 8600 printer worth every penny - those that make a BIG fuss about their ink economy - NOT.  the 8600 ready to go no matter how long it's been sitting.  That was the only non-HP printer i have bought in my 40+ years of using printers - thanks, HP.]
    (it said i had invalid HTML - and it changed the message - I can't see it)

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 fax from computer will not fax more than one page without canceling job

    HP Officejet Pro 8600 MFP running on Windows 7 64 bit. I purchased this printer almost a month ago. The install was simple and straight forward with no apparent problems but when trying to fax from computer the program seems to be only able to fax one page faxes. Any multiple page faxes will show a message "spooling" for 10 to 15 seconds then it will cancel the entire fax. I have tried this in both wired and wireless modes with the same results. I have sent 30 page plus faxes from the printer without any problems, it is only the fax from computer that seems to have memory issues. Any solutions out there?

    Have you tried updating the firmware on the printer?
    If not, here is a link to the most recent firmware:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=bi-101905-4&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
    Try that and let me know if it helps to resolve your issue.
    Best of luck,
