Cannot install Kodak software

Trying to install my daughter's new digital camera software on my iMac OS 9.0. Get the following: "The document installation software could not be opened because the app. program that created it could not be found." Then, in smaller print "Could not find a translator extension w/appropriate translators". Have no idea what this means. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Overall, dumb about computers and this one has a vy hard time doing anything on web except email etc.

sivuvi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
First off, OS 9.0 is probably the original operating system installed on your iMac. However, OS 9.0 is not too stable an operating system. You should upgrade (free) to at least OS 9.1. The download of the upgrade to OS 9.1 is here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75103
Re: your problem. I'm guessing that the camera software is for Mac OS X, and not OS 9. Can you verify?
If the main purporse of installing the Kodak software is to download picture files from the camera, suggest you buy (about $10) a USB memory card reader. Just plug your camera's memory card into it & copy the pic files to your iMac. Quicker & easier than interfacing the camera for pic transfer.

    Hi
Try to delete all content (format by clean install), then you can install Mavericks, however I think its better to add mavericks into External fladh drive (USB)
    to do clean install"
the language in the screenshot is Swedish which is same in English "Radera= delete), make sure you do back up first for you photos, music, documents,,,,,etc.

  • Alert: you cannot install this software on your computer

I purchased a used iMac on CL. The owner said he had reinstalled the original OS (v10.6.4  and upgraded it to v10.6.8.  to remove his personal data. He did not install the Applications disk. The computer works fine. The model identifier is iMac 10.1. He gave me what he said were the original gray Apple-logo Applications and OS dvds. I tried to install the Applications DVD but receive the error " Alert: you cannot install this software on your computer." He says these are the original disks. I'm new to the Mac and would like some help. Thanks.

See > iLife '11 Installation Failed? Please...: Apple Support Communities
Sounds like you might just need the > Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 which can be installed over the 10.6.8 system version.
Then if that doesn't work, start over fresh and use the combo update above.

  • Cannot install Creative software in Vi

VISTA (Home Premium 32-bit) has detected my Nano Plus (which has the latest firmware) and installed the nati've drivers. It shows up in device manager and is detected by WMP . When I try and install either CMS5 or Media Explorer neither of the installation programs will proceed after they tell me that they cannot detect any supported devices. I have run the installation software as an administrator and in XP SP2 compatibility mode but I still cannot get past the hardware detection problem. Any ideas?
As it stands now I cannot use either of my Creative MP3 players on my new PC in VISTA as in addition to the above problem Creative has determined that my fully-functional Jukebox 3 has reached the "End of Service Life".Message Edited by AbuAdam on 04-26-200708:0 AM

I think you misunderstood my question oozish. From what I have read of the YouP-PAX software suite it is a bunch of apps for the X-Fi sound card. I do have an X-Fi card and will be looking at YouP-PAX later but what I am trying to do right now is install Creative Media Source Player/Organizer for my Nano Plus MP3 player. I have downloaded the latest version 5.0.38 which I found on the Creative site after searching for Nano Plus downloads and VISTA OS. The problem with installing this software and the "Creative Media Explorer 6.00.04 Software Pack for ZEN Nano Series players" is that the installers stop and tell me that they cannot find any supported Creative hardware installed. Since I already have the Nano Plus installed and detected by VISTA and Windows Media Player I am at a loss to find a way to get the two creative apps installed.
Anyone got these apps installed who can help me?

  • Cannot install the software for my new printer

I just purchased this printer yesterday and have been working all this time trying to get the software installed.   I've used the CD that comes with the printer.  I've used the online software and used the assistant to download and install.  I've gone through many of the forums here and troubleshooted with all I've seen.   I keep getting the error message cannot install.   I'm getting frustrated at something so simple in the past has become a chore.   I have only used HP products for my scanners/printers and I'm afraid my next step may be to pack this unit up and take it back to the store for a different brand.   Please help.

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, and thanks for posting. I understand you are having an issue installing your new HP LaserJet Pro M177fw MFP on a Windows 7 computer. I'd love to help you with this. I would recommend first clearing the temp files on your computer to make sure there isn't anything there that is preventing the installation. Here are the instructions: Restart your computer.Click on your Start Menu.In the Search bar, type in %temp%, then press enter. Your Temp folder will open.On your keyboard. Select Ctrl + A (this will select all files)Hit the delete button on your keyboard to remove all temp files. Then I would recommend doing a clean boot of your computer. This will turn off any non-microsoft programs that are loading when you start your computer, to avoid any conflicts with the installer. You can follow the steps here to do a cleanboot: How to perform a clean boot in Windows Once the computer has started up again, try downloading and installing from the HP website: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177 Series Full Software and Drivers If you are still unable to install the printer, try running the MS Fix It tool. This is a tool supplied by Microsoft to resolve Operating System issues, and this version is specific to issues when installing or uninstalling: Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled Please respond to let me know if this helped to resolve your issue!Good luck.

  • Cannot install new software - adobe acrobat 9 pro

    Hi
I have just upgraded my system software to Snow Leopard Mac OS X 10.6.3 so that I could install new software - Adobe CS5 Design Premium.
System upgarde went perfectly, installation of all other software in CS5 went perfectly and now all I need to do is install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I drag the folder from the CD into my Applications folder but it does not complete the process of copying it and comes up with the folowing error message:
'The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in Adobe Acrobat Pro can't be read or written  (Error code -36)'
Prior to this installation attempt I removed Acrobat 8 as instructions that came with 9 indicated that I needed to do this. The only other info that may be relevant is that this software is an upgrade pack from Adobe CS2, though I did not have CS2 on this particluar computer. It was on a different computer.
    regards
    Lorna

To download Acrobat 9 Professional :
Go to the web page : http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=acrobat_pro&loc=en
Login with your Adobe ID and Password. Now instead of clicking on the download button copy and paste the following link on the address bar and hit enter :http://trials2.adobe.com/Applications/Acrobat/APRO/9/trials/AcroPro90_ efg.exe
This is the direct download link for Acrobat 9.
Note : This link would only work from the downloads page of Acrobat 10.

  • Finder will not open and cannot install new software

Please help:-  Finder does not open when clicked from the dock - instead the desktop icons disappear and reappear.  If I try to install a downloaded piece of software (e.i. Firefox or Chrome or Silverlight) the same thing happens and the software install simply disappears.
When I do Verify Disk - it's okay.
Checking Disk Permissions reveals a number of 'issues' each of which claims to have bene 'modified and will not be repaired' such as -
    Warning SUID file "usr/bin/at"
    Warning SUID file "usr/bin/atq"
    Warning SUID file "usr/bin/atrm"
    Warning SUID file "usr/bin/login"
    Warning SUID file "usr/libexec/authopen"
    Warning SUID file "usr/bin/newgrp"
    Warning SUID file "System/ry/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent"
    Warning SUID file "usr/libexec/security_authrampoline"
    Plus others ...
Reparing Disk permissions has no effect.
This started happening last week and seams to be getting worse - after reboot the problem continues.......

Guys, thanks for the support and ideas:-
Moving the /com.apple.finder.plist to the desktop and restarting clearly made a difference.  I then deleted the plist folder on my desktop, however, the problem has slowly returned.
    I did steps 1 & 2 suggested by Linc Davis above and;
Step 1 - there was no evidence of the errors but with limited test capability as 'my downloads' folder was  empty - so I was unable to attempt an install.  The machine however did seam to run quicker and Folder opened just fine when asked.
Step 2 - slower in Safe Mode and right-click failed to operate but Finder opened correctly each time.
After re-start and connecting again my external stuff (HP Printer, TimeMachine HD, Duronic USB hub, HK Speakers - they've been attached from day 1) the problem is completely back as before the deletion of the /com.apple.finder.plist  The desktop goes 'off' (desktop icons disappear) and 'on' (they reappear) without an install being achieved or 'allowed'.
Verify Disk is okay.  Disk permissions produce the same result as first posted above.  Repair Disk Permissions has same result as before.
Here's the latest console items since the restart following Step 2 above:-

After years of suffering MS Windows gremlins I came to Mac on the advice of my brother but 18 months-in I find my Mac is acting as old Windows PC's did?  I think I'll bite the bullet and wipe and re-install my software.  Time machine should keep me right and I've backed-up my Downloads/docs/music/ to a second external.  iCloud holds my mail/calendar etc - so, that should be enough - yes?????  I appreciate all your help but do not want to waste people's time.

  • "This computer cannot install this software"

Ok, so heres the deal. I decided to wipe my hd and reinstall os x. No problem except that now I am told by the machine that I cannot install from my OEM disk at all.

I'm having the same issue. I have a MacBook Pro Core Duo and I'm trying to do an erase and install. (Inherited the comp at work from another guy who's got way too much junk on it to cleanup manually). I'm getting the same cryptic error message when I try to do an erase and install from the Boot CD. I am using the boot cd that I received when I bought my core duo iMac Feb 2006. I think I have the boot cd's at work that came with this computer.
I guess my question is this: how can you verify if the boot disc is the one for that certain hardware configuration of your current computer (or is that even the issue)?
I found this page on apple's support pages: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106693
And from that page is this excerpt:
"Troubleshooting tip: If you see a message that you cannot install Mac OS X on this computer, even though it should work with Mac OS X, you may need to install a firmware update. Restart your computer from the hard drive and install the latest firmware available for your computer."
That made sense, so I checked the firmware update pages, and there isn't a new update for this macbook pro. I'm completely at a loss as what to do at this point. Any help would be awesome

Can you please help me? (Re-installing Windows is not a satisfying solution.)

I'm definitely not code saavy - can anyone help with this? I'm also going to contact Kodak directly.
    Thanks!

The mention of 'PPC' tells you you might be trying to install older Mac software. Try getting easyshare from the Kodak site...

You don't need to have this installed to transfer pics from your camera. Launch 'Image Capture' from your Applications folder and set its preferences to open when a camera is connected - then it'll launch whenever you plug your camera in.

  • Cannot install driver software for N8-00, Windows ...

I'm having a lot of trouble getting any Nokia software to work on my PC.
(This was the same for my previous Nokia 2730.)
The first time I connected my N8-00 to my PC, running Windows Vista 32, my PC worked out it was an N8-00 and a window appeared asking me to confirm AutoPlay settings - there was a checkbox (which I checked), but no OK button.
I could go to Start > Computer and see the N8-00 there though.
I opened the device and found the Ovi Suite Installer and tried to run that (because the downloaded version didn't work either - I'll start another thread about my troubles with Ovi Suite) but it didn't work.
I then removed the phone from my PC.
Now whenever I connect my phone to my PC Windows tries to install the N8-00 drivers and fails, giving me these messages:
"Found New Hardware - Nokia N8-00"
"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
    Nokia N8-00 USB Phone Parent
    No such interface supported
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."
Obviously not being able to connect my phone to my PC is very frustrating and restricts many of the features I wish to use.
Help in solving this issue would be very greatly appreciated.

Could someone of you resolve the problem about the connection of N8-00 to PC??
I have the same problem and I can't resolve it.
    Best regards!!
