Cannot logon to account after a logout the night before

I have a customer who cannot login after a logout. A restart fixes the problem. His Home folder is encrypted (File Vault) and he has discovered what appear to be duplicate or temporary Home folders that are coincident with the failed login. One from last Thursday, this Tuesday and this morning. Although it did not happen yesterday morning.

Wow ok, I was able to solve this sooner then I thought.
I simply had to login to the account I created when I first powered up the new mac.
Go into users and reset the password for the account I had restored through time machine back up.
But the problem remains of the time machine back up not properly restoring, I should not have had to do this. Im glad none the less I found a work around.

Tried turning it on this morning only to find out it wont post. Symptoms are....
1. Everything powers on, Fans. and all. but you cannot shut it off while holding the powerswitch in 4sec's.

2. All phase lights come on except for the #2 from the left #X###.
Only thing I can think of is it could either be the CPU of motherboard. I have already ruled out PSU Video And Memory since I took out the memory and didn't get any error codes at all, I have already done the out of the case test and reseated the CPU along with only using one stick of memory with the same exact results. this CPU worked alright but seemed to be a little on the hot side since I got it. could this be a dead CPU? HM.. I Don't know? you're opinions are greatly appreciated..thank you.

Only about a grain of rice give or take. Im buying a new motherboard. since the onboard video will not even work, I am confident that its the board. I have always bought MSI Motherboards but all were intel untill now. Seems that i may have gotten a faulty board. Its also been more than 30 days and I would have to send it back to msi and I doubt they would even take it back since I have put afterarket cooler on it. No. The only way is if the FindMyiPod feature was already set up and wifi is on. However, that can be defeted by turning the iPod off or restoring it. If they have access to the iPod then can just turn the feature off.
If the iPod off/battery drained how would you expect there t be a way of finding it?

If the application supported auto-save, yes, if not, then no.
If you were creating a mail message, it might be in the drafts folder of the e-mail program.
What evidence do you have the computer restarted itself? Did the Apple logo come up?

Before Firefox 4, each time I started the computer, it would load the windows I still had open when I closed down the night before. This has disappeared. Can I restore this?

I am with a compny that will not upgrade to the new explorer and i cannot install firefox. I cannot access my icloud account. I also cannot access my account with my company supplied Android. I NEED ACCESS TO MY ICloud EMAIL ACCOUNT AT WORK. I think Apple is making a mistake, the gulf seperating microsoft systems and Apple is growing greater and I believe that Apple will not survive if due to noothing else but shear numbers, and now the horrible concept of ICloud.

I got an iPad and an iPhone. I use their mail application daily basis. When I got my hotmail account, usually after I read the mail, an hour or sometime it's just gone. However it is still in the hotmail sever when I logged in my hotmail account on PC. I want them in my ipad or my iphone rather than I don't have to log in my hotmail account to check my email again via safari.

Mail for iOS only defaults to 50 or 100 recent messages in the Inbox of each mail account. If you get a lot of mail, you may want to change that to 200, 500 or 1000 messages so they aren't removed from the device so quickly.
To change the setting, launch Settings then go to "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and change the number of messages under the "Show" item.

Cannot logon to Planning after Migration from V3.5.1 to V9.3.1

I am upgrading Planning v 3.5.1 to Planning v9.3.1, the datasource and repository is sqlserver2000.
Below is the Quick overview
1Create a new database for your planning application
2Create a datasource to the database
3Create a fresh planning application make sure the admin is the same name as your old sourceplanning app
4If the application owner is not the hyperion default admin account then Go into the database tables for the planning app and look at table HSP_USERS, store the SID value against user 50001
5Stop Planning
6Restore the sourceplanning application database over the one created in the first step
7Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001 if you had to store the SID before
8Start planning
9logon to the Planning

What I can tell is what happens in the background when it migrates, it runs SQL from version to version, the SQL is in <hyperionhome>\Planning\config\sql
It also updates the version and release in table HSP_SYSTEMCFG
So from 3.5.1 to 9.3.1 it would run

Cannot create Administrator Account after Installation

Hi,
I would like to have the server assistant of OS X Server 10.6 to configure the whole server for my needs. Unfortunately this didn't work, even after the 5th trial.
Here is what I did:
- Local Installation via original DVD
- Configuration windows (server assistant) populated with my needs.
I get an error message, telling me that the keychain for the administrator account could not be created. The process brakes and the server won't be configured. This error happend twice.
I have no option but to install the whole server software again. I could not find out how to restart the configuration / setup again from scratch WITHOUT having to install the whole system again.
However, after the broken configuration procedure I get a blank login window. I found out that the system root account exists but NOT the administrator I wanted to create. What I can do is: reboot from the install DVD and reset the system root password. I can, then, log in as system root and get a desktop.
But I still don't have any more users and - even worse - the server is not configured.
I really don't want to configure every setting on my own due to a serious lack of basic knowledge.
Is there any way to have the setup assistant getting to work? Can I "restart" the configuration process without installing the whole system again?

I had this same problem. I experienced it first on a Mac Mini, not my Xserve, when I was doing a test install as recounted below. I was able to recreate the problem even.
I discovered that for me the problem only occurs if I chose during setup to import groups and users from an already existing Open Directory. If I skip this step everything works fine, and I can manually import users and groups by exporting them from OD on my Xserve and manually importing them via the exported files.
So here is the setup:
1.) During the fresh install on the Mac Mini I created the user with my short id of pope.
2.) When asked if I wanted to import OD users and groups, I did and I imported them by having it connect to my X-Serve (10.5.8)
3.) The installer runs in to keychain problems and eventually you end up with a blue screen and then the login screen
4.) At this point no usernames or passwords work
If I skip step 2, 3 and 4 never happen.
I thought maybe there was a conflict between my local shortname and a shortname in the OD that I attempted to pull from. I checked though and no conflict exists.
Here is a more detailed account:
I set my name, shortname, and password and continued on. Towards the end of installation I imported the users and groups from my 10.5 server and continued to setup services.
Eventually a screen popped up saying that there was no keychain for my user. It offered to reset the keychain, but it wouldn't accept my password. After a handful of tries the screen turned blue and after a long while the system came back up, but this time to the normal login screen.
And at the login screen the account I setup doesn't work. I'd reset the password via the booting from the setup disc, but I'm sure Snow Leopard just decapitated itself.
I'm going to reinstall from scratch because I have the aching feeling that when it went haywire it probably !@#$% any services since it decided to commit suicide.

Boot up with Chime but NO display after working just fine night before

My MBP is about 3-4 years old and I use it regularly but not nec. for long periods of time. I always shut down if not in use rather than let it sleep. It is not my main computer as I have a desktop Mac.
The other day after using it to watch an episode that was 45 minutes long I shut it off and went to bed- the battery was partially charged. When I tried to use it the next day I found the keyboard lighting up and the Chime happening, but no display was working even after adjusting the screen brightness. Even the apple logo on the back wasn't lighting.
I am in the middle of a class from **** and have two weeks left with new job orientation starting immediately after- so about three weeks before I could feesibly take it into Apple. However, I need this thing running now as it has not only iTunes but important docs on it that I don't have on my desktop that I need now.
Any simple suggestions or ideas. I am not completely computer illiterate, but I am no genius either.

I also have the same problem. I have a 15" MacBook Pro laptop that I bought new from an Apple store around July 2007. I was using my laptop for my presentation last week, and during the question and answering session I closed the lid of my laptop for approximately 5 minutes. When I opened it again, it just showed me a black screen. I have tried turning it on/off and followed all troubleshoot suggestion in the user guide but none of them work.
I brought it to the Apple service desk and they said that it is not NVIDIA issue because my laptop does not even pass the hardware checked that the laptop performed when starting up the computer. They asked me to buy a new Logicboard for at least $1200 not including gst and labor!! When I called Apple service center they said that they do not know why my logicboard is suddenly broken. They even argue that the life expectancy of an Apple laptop is only 3 years maximum.
I am trying to figure out how many people got the same issue like me and tell Apple about it so they can seriously investigate this problem, so any laptop does not die suddenly after 2 years. I think if there is many people have the same problem and complaint about it, Apple will feel more obligated to investigate the situation.

I downloaded and installed: Officejet-Pro-8600_v12.23.0.dmg after complete I can print and scan. then I go home and put my laptop to sleep. after I come back to work this morning I cannot print and scan again. HP utility cannot connect to that printer because all information there (all fields) displayed as: unknown Please help.

1. Open Finder (double-click the Finder icon in the Dock).
2. On the left side of the resulting Finder window click on Applications.
3. Double-click on "Image Capture".
4. Follow the instructions above.

Old exchange server 2007 accounts conflicting with Office365 accounts after migration to the cloud

We migrated over a month ago from Exchange 2007 to office 365
We have to offices in two different continents, under one single domain. Office in central America, has it's own IMAP web service hosted on 42inc (jondoe@ cenamer .com), Office in Europe (Profit Center) had it's mail services hosted on premise on exchange
2007 server(username@ Europe .com).
Usually employees from Office central America used to visit our Europe office, and we used to make them different email accounts from their 42inc on our exchange 2007. Thus existing in our Global Address Book.
As we migrated, to office 365, everything falls under one entity, but office Central America didn't want to lose their Name of Recognition so they wanted to keep @cenamer.com emails, but since few people already had @Europe.com mailboxes present.
We made @cenamer.com as their primary accounts and after we joined some of the employees their existing exchange 2007 mailboxes, we deleted their @Europe.com mailboxes.
The issue is, in some of our other offices in Europe and Australia, still employees email the office of Central America employees at their old @Europe.com emails, so we added aliases to their @centamer.com as in if Alok Vyas has alok.vyas@ cenamer.com he
also have alok.vyas@ Europe.com , this way we avoid having assigning another license for his @Europe.com mailbox.
But that was unsuccessful, employees getting bounced emails saying such email doesn't exist. They still have in the Address Book the old exchange mailbox of Alok when he was visiting
Please Help.

Cannot view email accounts or list-only the most recent email

Hi,
For some reason, I cannot view the email IDs configured on my phone, or the emails in those IDs. All i can see is the last email sent to me, with the From and to fields and text of the email. There are no back, reply, delete etc button, and I cant just swipe it away either. Any suggestions?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
