Cannot open ADE program

I am currently running Windows 8.1 and after opening the program once it now gives me an error message very quickly on the screen about "not working".  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the current program about 4 times now to no avail.  How can this be repaired?

I suggest you try the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
You will lose a few features.  You can have both installed at once.
You may find it initially gets authorization confused between the two versions.
If you have difficulty with authorization on 1.7.2
Run 1.7.2, and type ctrl-shift-D to remove any confused authorization.
Restart 1.7.2
Try again to authorize

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

    The situation with Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 and version earlier than it (in particular 3.0/3.0.2) is disturbing with regard to MPEG2 Activation.
    Adobe document says that it no longer supports MPEG2 Activation for versions 8.0/8.0.1 and earlier and points the users of this group of products to a version later than 8.0/8.0.1, the current latest version 12.
    But, I am not sure of the real answer. The doubts are cast by the findings of some who have claimed to have solved the problem using a uninstall/ccleaner/reinstall scheme when they have been met by the MPEG2 Activation issue.
    But, I would ask....Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your Windows 7 64 bit computer? And, are you working with version 3.0 as the 3.0.2 Update?
    Is it still possible to run your Premiere Elements 3.0/3.0.2 on the prior computer on which it was installed?
    Also, does your Windows 7 64 bit come with Windows XP Mode
    Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7
    which is essentially a virtual Windows XP Professional SP3 32 bit.
    As last resort, and highly experimental, but would you have time to experiment by replacing your latest version of QuickTime with the QuickTime Alternative 1.8.1 and then determining what happens with your Premiere Elements 3.0/3.0.2  Windows 7 64 bit situation? Do not bother with the MPEG Streamclip program download, just the QuickTime Alternative 1.8.1.

    I am running windows 7 premium and the latest firefox. After downloading a program, I go to the download folder but cannot open the program.

    Check the size, compare it to the online source.

  • Cannot open Reader program, no error messages (Windows XP, SP3)

    Hello all! I am hoping someone can provide a solution to my frustration....
    Earlier this summer I was having some computer trouble. The computer was under warranty - HP came out and changed the memory and system board.
    I have not been having any issues except for ONE thing - I cannot open Adobe Reader to view PDF files. Any PDF files on my system show the Adobe icon, but when clicking on a PDF file or the application itself, nothing happens. The hourly glass shows up briefly and then goes away, but otherwise, nothing.
    Temporarily, I got by using another PDF reader. Unfortunately, some of our business systems only work with Adobe, so getting Adobe to work is now critical.
    What I have tried (with no luck):
    1) Uninstalled Reader, did a system search to remove all Reader files, re-installed latest version
    2) Searched the Adobe community and other internet sites for help - tried a Microsoft fix, Adobe cleaner program, went into the Program Files menu to accept the user agreement, etc.
    3) Installed earlier verions (9.5, and then 7.0)
    Any other ideas? I called back HP, and they tried to be helpful but said it was a software issues since all other programs were running successfully. They suggested I re-install the operating system!

    My Laptop Specification :-  2GB RAM  ,Dual Core Processer ,300 GB Hard Disk ,Windows XP-SP3
    I would recommend adding 4 GB more, you need at least 4GB-6GB for R12 only (not including the OS).

    Had same problem and solved it without having to reinstore any music or movies:
    1. Delete old Library file
    2. Go to the 'Previous iTunes Libraries' folder and copy one of the earlier files - note, they have a date extension, e.g. 'iTunes Library 2011-11-01'.
    3. Paste this file in your iTuners folder and rename file by removing the date extension -  'iTunes Library'
    You should have all your music and paylists in tact, unless it was a really old previous file.

    When clicking on the image to start the program it shows the name of only one of my many catalogs, and when trying to open it, I get an error message stating something like unexpected error - cannot open, try another catalog, but no names or or paths to the other catalogs are accessible?
    Yesterday I installed ZIPfile software and also CanoScan 9000f with software and I am afraid that either of those may have overwritten the access rules to Lightroom, but do not know.

    I had exactly the same issue and fixed it almost instantly by following the suggestion to rename the previews.lrdata folder in my latest lightroom backup file. This is the same as deleting it. When you then open Lightroom, it will regenerate the missing previews quickly and you will be back in business. My problem was caused by an interruption in the backup process which corrupted the file. John W.

  • User Account Issues - cannot open certian programs!!!

    I have a MacBook Pro 3.1 operating 10.5.8
    it is set up on an active directory and the network admins are set to administrate the machine.
    However, the user has administrative rights but cannot open itunes or iphoto because of the error
    "The folder "+program name+" is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder"
    how do i get rid of this and allow the user to have full control of the machine?

    That sounds like another user has the same iPhoto or iTunes library open in his own account. iTunes and iPhoto libraries can only be accessed from one user account at a time, unless one is using the built-in sharing features (iTunes or iPhoto preferences -> sharing).

    Suddenly after using Lightroom CC for several months, I cannot open it.  I get an error message saying "Lightroom encountered an error when reading from preview cache" and has to close; will fix next time.  Many times later, still cannot open it.  Anyone else with this problem or how to fix it?  Thanks.

  • Cannot Open Windows Program Link in Entourage

    Hi,
    I use Entourage to send/receive emails. It took me a while to load Windows XP thru Parallels because I didn't have the most current version of Parallels (bought it in Dec, only now loading it). Today I was sent an email with a link for a Windows only program I purchased that requires me to use a key to unlock the program. When I clicked on the link, I got an error msg that said "the requested URL/download setup/exe was not found on this server." I'm trying to find out if 1) is this because I need to receive this email in Windows to link to this downloadable file? and 2) if so, do I have to set up yet ANOTHER email acct using Outlook? I'm not computer literate, and I am getting very frustrated, not knowing who to ask for help: Do I call Microsoft, do I call Parallels? Apple will not help, which is a shame, because I have had good service from them. The fact that I have to pay $30 to Parallels for each situation dealing with a Mac-Windows program is making me wonder if I made the wrong decision to get a MacBook Pro. Is there any help out there for people like me to transition into the Mac/Windows environment more expeditiously and without too much additional money out the door? Help Pls!

    Thanks so much for your response. After spending a few hours trying to figure out what the issue was, I finally decided it must be a bad link, and notified the party involved. Now, I really do appreciate the fact that Apple cannot support other programs, but it sure would've been nice to have gotten a suggestion by the Apple Tech to check my source. All I got was that he knew nothing about Parallels. I did try to post a note to Parallels, but I kept getting entwined in a "please register/you are registered; please register/you are registered" loop, which drove me crazy. I wished there was a way to get computer help for issues not supported by Apple thru an Apple/Pro Care type of program. Life is too short to be wandering aimlessly thru the internet maize when there are quick answers by knowledgeable people out there! Thanks again.

    I have been issued with a new computer and had a purchased copy of Captivate 8. I am looking to reload this on the new computer to continue my work.
    I have attempted to download a trial version with the aim of adding the key after installation was complete.
    I have the Adobe Captivate 8 -AkamaiDLM.exe and when I try to run it does not open the program.
