Cannot open mk:@msitstore: [path name]

I'm working in Robhelp for Word 7 and up until last week I
was able to view the results of my compiled help in Robohelp. When
the file is done compiling and I try to click 'View Results,' I now
get 'Cannot open the file:
mk:@msitstore:x\doc_4x\ap\output\flexi\fap32.chm. Now I can go to
my output folder in Windows Explorer and open the .chm with no
problems, but I can't view my results while in RoboHelp. Tried the
View Primary Layout icon as well and get the same error message.
I've gone to the website that tells you to download the .ocx file
and re-register it. I've removed any software I had recently loaded
on my machine. Nothing works. I've even deleted the RHTemp#
directories.

How I solved the Cannot open the file: mk@MSITStore issue. (Moreover, my chm was suddenly 2x standart size.)
Downloaded & ran MJsDiag.exe , which reported: File not found: C:\Program Files\itcc.dll.
Copied the dll from a windows32 subdirectory on my C:\ drive (which I can't find at the moment) to the Program Files directory. No change in results.
Returned to RH8, opened Single Source Layouts > Microsoft HTML Help > Properties dialog. In Additional Options, unflagged the Optimize CHM File Size check box. Flagged the Apply to all Topics check box, enabling the CSS radio button and the adjacent field, which listed default.css.
Left-clicked Finish button. Successfully generated .chm file (to my desktop) and found that the file had returned to the expected size, @ 49 MB.

  • Cannot open PDF file with name "CRB"

I updated Acrobat Reader to X version on my laptop recently and found something wired. When I tried to open some PDF file including name "CRB" (either the folder path or file name), some error appeared said "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement".
After changed the name to some other one (without CRB), the file could be opened properly. Or, if I opened the Acrobat Reader X first and then open the file using menu options, it could be also opened.
Very wired, right? Did anyone meet the same problem?

I got there quickly as I was there several times. Yesterday after restarting my computer nothing has changed, but this morning I could chose between Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Reader and Adobe Manager Helper. And it works! Now I can say restarting my computer wasn't probably not enough. Thanks for your effort. I can say I learned a lot

  • PB Reader 8.1 and Elements 6.0 cannot open file if path contains space ???

    Hello,
We encountered a problem between Adobe Reader 8.1 and Elements 6.0
The problem appear when the VIEW PDF FILE option is enabled in PDFMakers options and ESPECIALLY if the path where the file has been saved contains a space.
Is there a patch to resolve this malfunction ?
If not, is there any way to disable the VIEW PDF FILE option for all users and default user ? (script, batch or registry file)
(The Install Shield Tuner for Acrobat 6 do not permits to have an effect on this parameter.)
    Thank you for responses

    Alexander,
I'm having a similar problem, but with a Flash file.
I've verified that I can play the file from the
command line and from my KDE Desktop (SUSE Linux 10.1),
and so I'm pretty sure that the player is working.
But when I generate a PDF using LaTeX and your movie15
    package AR8.1.1 redirects me to:
    http://www.adobe.com/special/acrobat/nomediaplayer.html
If I look at the attachments pane, the file is
    correctly identified as "application/x-shockwave-flash"
But under the filename, the phrase "Indeterminate" has
been added, which suggest that the something in the
annotation is not recognized (I'm using move15 2007/05/07).
Either that, or AR itself is broken.
I'm still in the process of dissecting the PDF to see
where the problem lies. But it would be helpful if
someone could post a url to an embedded media example
that is known to work with Linux AR8. That way I can
at least check that my setup is working, which will
    be hakf the battle won.
    Cheers,
    James

  • Cannot open document-permissions

I have an external drive which will not let me open InDesign files directly. I can copy them to my desktop and then open them. But any time I try to open them directly, I get this message:
"Cannot open the document "(file name goes here)". You may not have permission or the document may be open already. For multi-user access, close the file and then lock it using the File>Show Info commend in the Finder."
What does this mean, and, more importantly, how do I defeat this? It seems counter-intuitive to lock something when the problem IS that it's locked. Even so, I've tried it and it did nothing.

I realize this is an old thread, but in case someone else ever experiences this issue, like I recently did, I'm just passing along my knowledge.
Ironically, I had a problem the original posted described trying to open an InDesign file from a network share.  The error message was mostly the same:
"Cannot open the document ``(file name goes here)''. You may not have permission or the document may be open already."  The original poster's message had an extra sentence.
Without going into all the things I tried, I'll mention I initially found two work-arounds.  First was to copy the file to the local hard drive and open it.  I was able to save the file right back to the network share.  Never squawked about being unable to save the file becuase the file was already open.  In fact, I could even delete the file without a problem, but as soon as I copied the file back to any location on that same network share the problem persisted.  All other files on the same share, even in the same folder, were able to open fine.  The second work-around was to rename the file to anything that was not more than 17 characters (not including the file extension).
I knew that the file share I was connected to was on a Windows server.  What I ultimately realized is that I was connected via afp://.  I disconnected and remapped using smb://, but then I wasn't able to see any files or folders in the share.  I realized again that the computer itself was connected via afp://.  I ejected every mapping to that computer to ensure all afp:// connections were closed, then I remapped using smb://.  Viola!  I could now see the files and folders again, I could open the file, and I could even rename it back to it's original name and still open it.  Not only that, by all files opened was blazingly faster.
What I suspect was the problem is that using afp:// the Finder only sees a "snapshot" of what the Windows directory looked like, not the actual files itself.  The locked file still existed, but was not visible in this "snapshot."  Renaming the file allowed me to open the file, but as a different file, not the file that was locked.  I can only assume it was a caching problem with the way the directory was viewed using afp://.
Using smb://, I was seeing exactly what was on the server, not a snapshot, and I was able to directly open the file, not a name of a file.
    Doers this make sense?
Bottom line, if you can remap your Windows network shares using smb://, or at least update the afp:// services that list the assets on the Windows share, then I hope the problem is solved for you like it was for me.

Please help me in solving the same

    HI,
    Thanks for the response.
I am really tensed for the same...
Actually the error occurs in the following case:
    1. I am creating a Parent folder in robohelp with the name ABC..
    2. Next Under ABC i have created 2 separate folders say XYZ and EFG.
    3. Under XYZ i have created various Topics say 2 or 3.
    4. Under EFG i have created various Topics say 7 or 8.
    5. Now, i have created a TOC with name for ABC (Parent Folder.)
    6. Next i have dragged and dropped my two sub folders that i have created under ABC in Project Set up wizard that is XYZ and EFG, in order to generate the webhelp first and then the CHM file fo rthe same.
    7. Webhelp is successfully getting generated.
    8. But when i convert the Webhelp to CHM Converter, after few seconds the robohelp gets halt and it shuts up the robohelp, showing a message dialog box that the Adobe Robohelp 11 is Troubleshooting for the error, the Windows manager will get back to you..Someting like this, the .CHM file for the same gets generated on the described path, but when i click on it, it does not open and shows the error as "Cannot open file: mk:@MSITStore: C:\\Users\..\Desktop\filename.chm".
Please  help me in sorting the above issue.
    According to me:
I think i am Lacking in the two things:
    1. How to link all the topics with the parent folder.
    2. How to Merge the projects.
Can you please provide me the link where i can get tutorial to create a TOC for multiple files in a same TOC and to generate a chm for them.
Actually for single project folder i have worked successfully. But, its first time i have to create a chm with lot many sub folders in it, as like one create a book.
    Please help
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Mk:@MSITStore cannot open file from within RoboHelp

Have recently upgraded to RoboHelp 8 and now see the much discussed "Cannot open the file: mk:@MSITStore:<path>" error but only when trying to view .chm files from RoboHelp for Word, by clicking "View Primary Layout".  Weirdly enough, some projects display the .chm correctly when clicking "View Result" right after generating the help file, some projects do not.  Viewing .chm directly from output location is always fine.  For very small projects, the "View Primary Layout" button seems to work.  For very large projects, the error message always occurs.  I've un-registered and re-registered hhctrl.ocx as well as downloaded, replaced and registered the previous ocx version (4.73.8412.0) as well as re-registered itss.dll  The OS is Windows XP Professional with IE 7.  Suggestions please?  Thanks!

    RoboHelp 8
    XP Pro
I recently ran into a problem viewing some pdfs and Word Documents in a generated html help file.
    Setup:
pdfs and .docs in baggage files
links to the baggage files created in tables
    2 tables in each topic
pdfs/docs in first table in each topic opened without a problem
pdfs/docs in second table would not open -  address bar display:
    (Example)
    mk:@MSITStore:C:\EOCs\!SSL!\Microsoft_HTML_Help\BlueMedicare_EOCs.chm::/2012_EOCs/2012_WS_ Book.pdf
(Pause for much gnashing of teeth, pulling of hair, angst, frustration and thinking) but no pdf (or Word doc)
I can't change registry entries or any other computer settings.  No administrative rights.
Anyway, it couldn't be an outdated registry entry because within one project, some pdfs and docs displayed as expected and others didn't.
Checked to see what the differences were in the tables/cells that worked vs the ones that didn't.
Looking at the HTML,  I found "target=_blank" in each row of the tables that failed to display a baggage file.
I replaced "target=_blank" with no replacement text -  I left Replace with blank.
Voila!  All pdfs and docs open just as expected.
    I hope this helps someone.

  • Cannot open the file: mk:@MSITStore

I just upgraded to RoboHelp 8 for Word (Office 2007, XP Pro) and continue to have this problem after compiling a project (Microsoft HTML) and clicking on view. One suggestion was to change the path closer to the root directory. I changed the output path the C:\ (can't get any closer than that!) and that didn't help. I searched the forum for a definitive fix but haven't found one yet. The file opens fine using explorer but it's obviously a pain-in-the-butt to have to always do that. Thanks.

I also compile my Help projects using the .chm format.  I have a handful of users at one site that are not able to open the Help files.  When they click on the Help from the application, it looks like it thinks about it, but then nothing happens.  When I had them try to open the Help files directly from their local directory, they received the following: Cannot open the file: mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program Files\....\HelpFile.chm.
I have tried recompiling the .chm file.  I have tried recompiling the .chm file so it was closer to my root directory.  I have had the client "Unblock" the Properties of the .chm file.  None of these solutions fixed their issue.  (I posted the .chm file on our ftp site for the user to save down and replace their other Help file.)
Besides the things I've tried, other posts suggest the users go into their registry files to manipulate the Hhctrl.ocx.  What other solutions are out there?  I don't think I can feasibly tell another customer that they should try to update their registry files.  I am able to access the HelpFile.chm from multiple computers from our site and have not had issues.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Experts,

One day the job runs fine and sometimes fails with this message. All permissions to the file are fine its so intermittent with these jobs that we unable to source the problem. Also after the problem occurs when you re run the job it runs fine.
Its also hard to re create the issue. BUt happens pretty much  every day during our production schedule
Does the job server fails to read it??
    We are using DS 12.2.0.
    Hopefully I've explained it properly
    Appreciate your thoughts on this

How are you tranfering the file? Shared directory? What about trying with the FTP server method?
(You need an FTP server on your SAP machine.., IIS for Windows, ftpd for Unix)
This way the FTP protocol would take care of the transport to your DS machine.
An advantage is that with the FTP method you can put retries into the DSConfig.txt file.

  • Error message: "Can't open file "[File path, file name].key"

If I attempt to open any Keynote files, I now get this error message.
"Can't open file "[File path: file name].key"
To clarify, the text in the square brackets above would be the file path and then the file name.
The file then will appear on the screen, but is unresponsive to any clicks or menu commands.
The files will open successfully on other Macs, so they aren't corrupt.
Also - I've just checked, and opening Keynote and trying to create a new presentation leads to the same problem: All screen menus / buttons are dead - all I can do is drag the window around the screen.
I've tried to reinstall Keynote, but this hasn't resolved the problem.
Is there some corrupt preference file (or similar) that I need to get rid of? Is there an easy way to do a complete uninstall of Keynote so I can try another install? Or is this a symptom of something else?
    All ideas gratefully appreciated!
Message was edited by: Brendan Donlon

All the issues I describe in my questions around this time re: Keynote were actually symptoms of a soon-to-die laptop. The Hard Disc was corrupting, and Keynote was the first application to be affected.

I have downloaded the latest update to iWork, but that doesn't help.
    I use Mac OSX 10.6.7
    I am using Pages '09 version 4.0.5 (852)
If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Best regards,
    New York Mac User

A few general trouble shooting tips that may apply here:
    1. If you used Software Update to do the OS update(s) to reach 10.6.7, go to http://support.apple.com/downloads/ and download and apply the Mac OS v10.6.7 Combo Updater. The Combo Updater contains some fixes that were not included in the incremental updaters used by Software Update.
1a. Check that you have the current version of Pages (and of the other iWork applications) installed. All three applications' current version numbers end in .0.5
    2. A common cause of malfunctioning applications is a corrupted preferences file (.plist file). Your Pages '09's plist is at yourname > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iWork.pages.plist
Quit Pages, locate the file and Drag it to the Desktop (or to the Trash).
Restart Pages and attempt to open one of the files.
If all is well, Trash the plist file and empty the Trash.
If there's no change, AND you've made changes to the Preferences that you wish to keep, drag the file back to its previous location, replacing any new one that has been created.
    Regards,
    Barry

What does it mean when I click on my wifi name and it show I'm on my wifi, but the network keeps thinking and the ipad says, Safari cannot open this page because it is not connected to the internet. ?

When you click on the WiFi network name, have you also provided the password for accessing the network?  You should get a dialogue box asking you for the security information the first time you connect.
If you are not able to connect, you might want to go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings.
Then go back to Settings > WiFi and select your network name again and make sure the security information is now entered correctly.
If you still cannot connect, power down the router, wait a few minutes, power up the router, with the iPad powered down the whole time, and after the router has had several minutes to stabilize power up the iPad.  See if it now connects correctly.

  • TS3276 email was hacked, can open email on yahoo (after changing passwords) but cannot open mail on my computer, cannot even access mail because it will not accept my user name or password and I am unable to reset my account

email was hijacked and spam/virus link sent out to all of my contacts on wed at 4:21AM..... with the Subject as Rep: My Name or My email address and a link to a web page discussing making money working at home.  Could not get into any of my mail, on the web or on Mail on my mac.  After a phone call to automated support through Yahoo through ATT, I was given a temporary password and was able to reset my Yahoo password and get email on the internet.  I still cannot open my Mail Account on either my iMac or MacBook Pro.  I cannot get into Mail, period.  My sign in keeps popping up and it keeps telling me that my user name or password is incorrect.  I tried my old password, the temporary password and the new password.  Nothing is working,  I cannot receive or send anything in Mail.  Mail is Frozen.  If I want my email, I must go to the web and sign into Yahoo Mail.
    Help!

When you were entering your new password in mac mail for your Yahoo account, you didn't perchance change the user name from [email protected] to just name without the @att.net? I only ask because I've done that, and att.yahoo mail requires a fully qualified [email protected] for access.
In mail, you might click on window on the menu bar, then connection doctor. On the account with the red dot next to it, it will tell you why it can't connect, and if you click on it, you'll be taken to where you can fix it.

  • Cannot open a a file with a specific file name

    I have 1 person who cannot open or save a file with a specific file name on his computer.  If he does it at another computer he is fine, no one else has this issue.  The error he gets when trying to open the file is { Cannot create file:missingperson.pdf. Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder}
Any ideas on how to resove this.  He gets this file sent to him on a regular basis, and cannot have the file name changed.
    Thank you

I have run across something similar.  Assuming that this PDF they are getting through email is the same name, then this is how I fixed my problem.
When you get a file in an email and open it, it writes that file to the Temporary Internet Files folder.  Lets assume the file name is filename.pdf  If you open a file from email with the same name at a later time, it creates a file called filename(1).pdf.  Open a file with the same name again, it creates filename(2).pdf, and so on.  Once you get to filename(99).pdf, it will start giving you a lot of trouble.  When I cleared out those filename.pdf's, everything went back to normal.
    Hope this helps.
