Cannot ping among nodes

Hi all experts,
I am trying to install rac on vmware 9 in linux platform OEL 6.4. Everything went smooth but i cannot ping between nodes. I tried many different ways but it says destination is un reachable. I bridged the network adopter but still having errors. May be i did not bridge it correctly since i am too bad about networking stuff. I will appreciate your help.   • Cannot ping windows 2008 r2 while it is possible for another machine in the same network

    Hi,
    Recently I have set up a new server with windows 2008 r2 enterprise OS which is a domain member server. 
    At network layer I have two networks one with 192.168.1.0/22 and another with 10.0.0.0/24 network IDs.
    My problem is that I cannot ping the newly installed server from a specific machine. Server's IP address is 192.168.1.56 and the specific machine's IP address is 10.0.0.12 and it is a windows XP machine. Of course I have to say that this problem belongs
    only to this WinXP machine and all the layer 3 issues are tested and correct. This issue happens while at the same time I can ping domain controller which also is a windows 2008 r2 enterprise box and its IP address is 192.168.1.53. It turns more complicated
    when I learned I can ping the winxp machine and connect to it from new server through remote desktop. Firewall also is not the obstacle because I turned it off completely. 
    Can anybody help me fix the problem?

  • Cannot ping DAG IP

    I have a two node Exchange 2010 DAG.   
    One is active and sits in Site A and one is passive for replication purposes and sits in Site B.
    In Failover Cluster Manager, the DAG is set up with two IP addresses - one is online and one is offline.  
    Today I noticed that for some strange reason, the passive server at Site B cannot ping the current online DAG address at all.  But it can ping other physical hosts using the same subnet as the DAG address.  In fact nothing at Site B can ping the
    DAG address.  But they can ping everything else.  Everything at Site A is working perfectly.   There is nothing wrong with the routing, everything checks out.  Nothing is being blocked.
    Why is this happening?

    Is this OS Windows 2008 R2?  If so look at the firewall fix that is in this post:

  • WRT610N to TP-LINK SWITCH cannot ping printer on switch

    I hope you can tell me what I have done wrong.
    dslmodem ---> wrt610N ---->TP-LINK(5port) ---- HP 2600N printer, another to IOmega HD
    I cannot see either the printer nor the HD. I cannot ping them.
    The cables from the TP to the printer are blue, CAT5 cables. Does blue mean twisted pair?
    The HP and IOmega have static  IP addresses at 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3 each.
    The DHCP settings on the router allocate DHCP from 100-254 to avoid conflicts.
    The firewall on the WRT610N is disabled.
    Physical limitations permit only one CAT5 cable to the TPLINK box.
    If I avoid the box and do this;
    dslmodem ---> wrt610N ---->HP 2600N printer
    I can ping it from both a Windows 7 and/or XP machine.
    However, with the switch in place, I cannot ping it from the router nor any PC's connected to it. The PCs can ping each other.
    Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

    The device is a TPLINK TL-SF1005D unmanaged 5 port switch. No visible settings or buttons.
    The address handed out on other side of the TPLINK is 169.254.138.233
    My network is 192.168.1.* 
    Hmm. This does not bode well.
    Should I set up a routing table entry to talk to this switch?
    The wire from the router is hooked to port 1 on the switch. Should it not pick up the right submask, entry from the router?

  • Ontap 8.3 lif cannot ping gateway

    Hi all, I have c-mode cluster with 1 node (DR filer).  It's on subnet 172.16.230.0/24. Gateway is 172.16.230.1/24I created an intercluster LIF (172.16.230.35)  to comm. with filer (production ) in another subnet. (10.1.198.0/24).I can ping 10.1.198.35. But I cannot ping the gateway 172.16.230.1 from the intercluster LIF on the DR-filer.I can also not ping from 10.1.198.35 (prod. filer) to 172.16.230.35 (dr filer) If I connect a laptop in the same subnet and give it 172.16.230.18, I can ping both ways. Thus, ping to 10.1.198.35, 172.16.230.1 and vice versa.  Just as expected. So routing seems correct. BUT, if i ping from the laptop to the LIF (172.16.230.35) of the filer,  I have no response, altough it's on the same subnet. So it looks like 'something' is preventing the LIF on the Dr-filer to respond to the ping(?)  I spend hours of searching the internet but I'm completly lost now. If somebody could give me only a direction to search in, it would be great! Thanks!

  • Cannot ping RRAS Client from RRAS server.

    I have recently created an RRAS pptp connection for an outside network. The RRAS client connects fine and can ping the RRAS server and every device on the RRAS servers local network. The RRAS server cannot ping the remote pptp client nor can any device on
    the RRAS servers local network. RRAS is configured to be within the same subnet as the RRAS servers local network. On connection it pulls from a static IP pool.
    Any help is truly appreciated

    The server is behind a nat device and for testing purposes i have disabled the firewall on both devices. Also I am having an issue where the pptp connection just stops accepting and sending data to the rras server but if you look at the active connections
    the client never disconnects.  I have attached ipconfig information

    Hi
    Network:
    One firewall where the IP address is the gateway for all the internal computers and server
    From one if the internal computers I can ping the the gateway
    From the server I can ping all the internal computers but I cannot ping the gateway
    On the server I can ping:
    -  127.0.0.1, 
    - the IP address on the server
    - All the internal computers
    A hint would be nice

    I can ping every computer on internal network without any problems, it is only the gateway I have problem with.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 Cannot ping local traffic and local hosts cannot get out

    I have, what I believe to be, a simple issue - I must be missing something.
    Site to Site VPN with Cisco ASA's. VPN is up, and remote hosts can ping the inside int of ASA (10.51.253.209).
    There is a PC (10.51.253.210) plugged into e0/1.
    I know the PC is configured correctly with Windows firewall tuned off.
    The PC cannot get to the ouside world, and the ASA cannot ping 10.51.253.210.
    I have seen this before, and I deleted VLAN 1, recreated it, and I could ping the local host without issue.
    Basically, the VPN is up and running but PC 10.51.253.210 cannot get out.

    Hi Martin,
    Which way you are trying. Sending traffic via site to site is not working or traffic which you generate to outside world is not working?
    But you say ASA connected interface to PC itself is not pinging that is strange. But try setting up the specific rules for the outgoing connection and check. Instead of not having any ACL.
    If it is outside world the you may need to check on the NAT rules which is not correct.
    If it is site to site then you may need to check few other things.

    Hello Jon,
      Thank you so much for your response. Clients will not be connect to a specific RDP server.  I was hoping if we were to establish a VPN Client tunnel I would like that tunnel to provide full local are access.  So the way the clients are used to is while in the field they use RDP to connect to their desktops on the internal LAN.
    Would you say this would work:

    Hello Wayne,
    Can you use a different subnet range than the internal interface, this could cause you a LOT of issues and hours on troubleshooting, so use a dedicated different Ip address range...
    I can see that the local Pool range is included into the inside interface Ip address subnet range, change that and the related config ( NAT,etc, ) and let us know what happens,

  • 2851 router vpn to 851 router lan clients cannot ping

    Greets - I'm expanding my lab experience by adding a 2851 router to my mix of 18xx and 851/871 units. Some of this infrastructure is in production, some just lab work. I have established good connectivity between 18xx's and 851/871's with IPSEC VPNs (site-to-site static and dynamic), but my problem is with adding in a 2851.
    Setup: 2851 with 12.4 ADVENTK9, WAN on GE0/0 as 216.189.223.bbb/26, LAN on GE0/1 as 172.20.0.1/20 (VPN module, but no additional HWIC modules)
    851 with 12.4 ADVENTK9, WAN on FE4 as 216.53.254.aaa/24, LAN on FE0..3 via BVI1 as 172.21.1.1/24
    The two router WAN ports are bridged via a 3rd router (a Zywall with 216.0.0.0/8 route, with the router at 216.1.1.1) affectionately called the "InterNOT", which provides a surrogate to the great web, minus actual other hosts and dns, but it doesn't matter. As both my WAN addresses are within 216.x.x.x, this works quite well. This surrogate has tested fine and is known to not be part of a problem.
    The 851 has been tested against another 851 with complementary setup and a successful VPN can run between the two.
    I have good LAN-WAN connections on each router. I do have a "Good" VPN connection between the two routers.
    The problem: I cannot ping from a LAN host on 172.20.x.x on the 2851 to any 172.21.1.x (eg 172.21.1.1) host on the 851, and vice versa.
    From a LAN host, I can ping to my InterNOT - for example a dhcp host 172.20.6.2 on the 2851 LAN can ping 216.1.1.1 fine. I can also ping the 851's WAN address at 216.53.254.aaa.
    To complicate matters, if I connect to the routers via console, I CAN ping across the vpn to the destination LAN hosts, in both directions.
    This seems to indicate that there is a bridging problem between the LAN interfaces to the VPN interfaces. I suspect this is a config problem on the 2851, as I have had a similar config working on my 851 to 851 site-to-site setups. I also suspect it is in the 2851's config as I'm still just starting out with this particular router.

    Note that the above are somewhat stripped-down configs, without firewall or WAN ACL's - interestingly my default WAN-Inbound ACLs seem to break connectivity when included, so I realize I have some more cleanup to do there, but the 2851 LAN bridging seems to be what I should concentrate on first.

    First,please delete NAT.If we configured the NAT in the RRAS,the source IP address in all packets sent to 192.168.1.0/24 would be translated to 192.168.1.224.
    Second,please enable the LAN routing in RRAS server.To enable LAN routing,please follow the steps below,
    1.In the RRAS server,Open Routing and Remote Access.
    2.Right-click the server name,then click
    properties.
    3.On the General tab,select
    IPv4 Router check box,and then click Local area network(LAN) routing only.
    Then,announce the 172.16.0.0 network to the router.

  • Integration Broker - PTool 8.50 - Pinging remote node errors out

    Hi! I am trying to configure default local nodes on HCM 9.1 and FSCM 9.1, both systems have PeopleTools 8.50.
    HCM 9.1 is installed on Windows 7 Home Premium. DB is Oracle 10g
    FSCM 9.1 is installed on Windows 2003 server. DB is Oracle 10g
    Problem:
    =====
    When I ping remote node from HCM 9.1 it displayes the following message
    “PeopleSoftTargetConnector - The application server is down (or not responding). Check AppServer URL.”
    When I ping the remote node from FSCM 9.1 then I get the following message:
    “PSFT Authentication token failed for Node PSFT_HR. (158,454)”
    Setup Details:
    =========
    Here are steps I followed on both systems:
    FSCM 9.1. side :
    =========
    1.Defined local gateway. http://<My-Machine B>:/PSIGW/PeopleSoftListeningConnector When I ping it from Gateway page, it shows it is active.
    2.Renamed default node PSFT_EP to PSFT_TRN. Before renaming ran the appmsgpurgeall.dms script from <PS_HOME>\scripts\ to make sure there are no references to PSFT_EP in runtime tables. This is PS supplied dms script and they recommend to run this script before renaming any node (It should be done at the initial setup time).
    3.On the Node page, PSFT_TRN node is defined as default node. Specified the default user Id as ‘PTINT’ the common User id created by cloning ‘VP1’. On the ‘Connectors’ tab Gateway ID is ‘LOCAL’ and connector id is ‘PSFTTARGET’. From the ‘Connectors’ tab Pinged the PSFT_TRN node and it was pinged successfully.
    4.On Gateway Properties page, defined "APP Server URL" as ‘<Machine Name B>:9000, user Id/pwd as ‘PTINT’ and tool release as ‘8.50’.
    5.Defined PSFT_TRN node, with APP Server URL as ‘<Machine Name B>:9000, user Id/pwd as ‘PTINT’ and tool release as ‘8.50’. When I ping this node, it is pinged successfully.
    6.Inserted another node PSFT_HR, with APP Server URL as ‘<Machine Name A>:9000, user Id/pwd as ‘PTINT’ and tool release as ‘8.50’. When I ping PSFT_HR node from this page I get the following error:

    One of my machine had fire wall on, so I swtiched the fire wall off. Now machine A can ping both nodes but machine B can ping only local node. Pinging remote node displays "User name not defined in database".

  • Anyconnect VPN peers cannot ping, RDP each other

    I have an ASA5505 running ASA 8.3(1) and ASDM 7.1(1).  I have a remote access VPN set up and the remote access users are able to log in and access LAN resources.   I can ping the VPN peers from the remote LAN.    My problem that the VPN peers cannot ping (RDP, ectc..) each other.   Pinging one VPN peer from another reveals the following error in the ASA Log.

    Seems to me that you could clean up the current NAT configuration a bit and make it a bit clearer.
    I would suggest the following changes
    object network VPN-POOL
    subnet 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0
    object network LAN
    subnet 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
    object-group network PAT-SOURCE
    network-object 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
    network-object 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0
    nat (inside,outside) source static LAN LAN destination static VPN-POOL VPN-POOL
    nat (outside,outside) 1 source static VPN-POOL VPN-POOL destination static VPN-POOL VPN-POOL
    nat (any,outside) after-auto source dynamic PAT-SOURCE interface
    The above should enable
    Dynamic PAT for LAN and VPN users
    NAT0 for the traffic between LAN and VPN
    NAT0 for traffic between VPN users
    You could then remove the previous NAT configurations. Naturally please do backup the configuration before doing the change if you wish to move back to the original configuration.

    Hi There,
    I am trying to connect to my node manager via WLST, however when I try to do so I get the following exception:
    WLSTException: Error occured while performing nmConnect : Cannot connect to Node Manager. : Read channel closed
    I have searched Google for the reason behind this exception, but I couldnt find anything that explains why I am getting it.
    Could someone help me out? All I want to do is connect to the node manager and then kill one of the nodes.
    I should point out that the AdminServer and the node are the same machine.

    The nodemanager will not accept SSL connections, I checked the config on WL itself.
    I can confirm that it is also in nodemanager.domains
    I have restarted the service and also bounced the box, but this hasnt helped. I get the following when running this command:
