Cannot preview or render a Crystal Report on production machine

My dev machine is Win 7, Sql Express 2008, VS 2008, CR 10 (CR engine 15.5.3700). I am able to successfully preview the report in VS as well as get it rendered in an ASP.NET page.
However, after the web app was deployed to a Win 2003 machine, Sql Exterprise 2008, (with VS 2008/CR 10 and same CR engine), I got the following error in the ASP.NET page:
Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {5FF57840-5172-4482-9CA3-541C7878AE0F} failed due to the following error: 80070005.
I did everything suggested on all web pages on Google search for this error: Granted full control permissions to User as well as Windows Temporary directory to "Everyone" account, uninstalled and reinstalled the Crystal Reports 2008 merge module.
Then, I tried something different altogether. I opened the report in VS 2008, and clicked the Preview button on the bottom of the page. After filling in the parameters, I got the infamous "The Visual Basic UFL that implements this function is missing or U2lcom.dll" error. Again tried everything a Google search threw up for this error, including trying to register U2lcom.dll manually using regsrv32 (which failed saying no entry path found), giving full control to everyone on "C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\2.8\bin", and searching BusinessObjects for CR 10 UFLs (which I was unable to find).
Now, having done all this, I lastly reverted to forums for help. So, any ideas or pointers to the problem resolution would be appreciated.

Then, I have some Name Not found errors on Query Open & RegEnumValue operations:

  • Preview and print a Crystal report prompted for the sa password

    Dear All,
    Our customer has Crystal report add-on to be installed. When we Preview and print a Crystal report, we got a window prompted for the sa password. Even we type in a correct password, it still says wrong password...
    Every time when I open my report in Crystal Basic 2008 on the server, then go database expert >> My connections >> click + in front of the connection name, it asks my sa password. I type in my password then save and close. Next time when I open the report and go my connections, I have to type in my password again. This only happens on one customer.
    Any idea? Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Yuka

    Hi Yuka,
    1) All their SAP client workstation, they have to have use SQL2008 CD and install SQL Client on it
    Correct, MS does NOT support MDAC or WDAC when connecting to SQL 2008.
    2) Then go ODBC >> SQL Native Client 10.0 >> Create a new connection to SAP server. Should we use sa user or another use that has the same authorization as sa?
    Correct again if they are also using ODBC to connect, as for using the sa account or creating a new one is up to you. I suggest creating a Crystal account with what ever rights your app needs, this way if tracing it turned on etc. you can confirm who is actually running the report.
    3) Then from MY Crystal report, I have to use ODBC connection as well?
    Just to clarify, if you created your reprots using OLE DB then they can do so also. But you need to update your connection properties. Open each report click on Database, Set Location, scroll down to OLE DB and expand and then choose MS SQL Server Native 10 as your OLE DB provider, fill in all the logon info and then verify the database. Do the same for each subreport also.
    Save your report and either send them the new one or if you are doing this remotely then replace the original report.
    VERIFY your reports to confirm they still return correct data and do work as expected.
    Or if you are using ODBC then yes you do select the MS 10 driver with a new DSN. Then do the above to update the reports to all use ODBC as their data sources.
    Hope this is all clear now....
    Thanks again

  • Error in Preview and Print in Crystal Report Viewer 2.0.0.7 in Workstation

    Hi Guys,
    I am encountering a problem when clicking preview and print in Crystal Report Viewer 2.0.0.7. It returns an error
    Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue the application will ignore and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will close immediately. Load report failed.
    I already install the runtime crruntime_120_mlb, . net framework 3.5 sp1 and the add-on itself. The viewer is working properly in SAP Server. My version of SAP is SBO 2007 A SP00 PL10.

    Dear All,
    I am using the Crystal report viewer ActiveX to display the Crystal report. When the report opens in the Crystal report viewer ActiveX control, a preview section comes at the left hand side of the panel. How can I hide the preview section from the Report viewer control. Is it possible to customize the the report viewer control.  Awaiting for your suggestions.

    Just to get the terminology correct. I believe you are meaning the Group Tree(?).
    Vb Code:
    CrystalActiveXReportViewer1.DisplayGroupTree = False.
    Also, do consult the developer help file;
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Crystal Reports 11.5\Help\en\rdcsdk_com_dg_doc\doc\rdcsdk_com_dg.chm

    We are exporting crystal reports into PDF using  ExportToHttpResponse (code snippet below)

  • Preview marketing document with Crystal Reports

    Iu2019ve created a Crystal Report Lay-out for a sales order based on an empty report (I didnu2019t used a sap report as bases), how can I make it possible to get a layout preview before I save the sales order?
    At the moment, the preview shows the latest saved sales order.

    Hi,
    Are you trying to run this as a report or as a layout?
    Assuming you are using SAP 8.8 on 8.81, you can publish the report as a layout in General Setting.
    Now, for it to pick up the right documents, you need to have parameter field DocKey@ in it, so that when you are in Sales Order, it will print the details of the current orders.
    I would suggest you have a look at SAP B1 Document Resource Centre for more details on how crystal report is worked within SAP B1.

    at the end an iView is nothing else than just a container so it is up to you to decide how you want to show the content - as a link to a new page or as an embedded page or as iView...... that should be based on the requirements.

  • Cannot Edit Universe Query in Crystal Reports.

    Hi,
    We have Crystal Reports 2008 SP5 installed on a Terminal Server where our report developers can go to develop reports. We have a 4 node BOXI R2 SP4 cluster on the opposite side of a firewall, and have opened the firewall ports so that Crystal Reports can connect to this BOXI cluster and a universe on that cluster, and the developers can publish their reports.
    For some developers, and the issue is intermittent for them, if they open one of those Crystal Reports to edit the universe query, they go into Database Expert and right click and choose Edit query, nothing happens. The Query Editor window does not open. They don't get any errors, other than the Universe Query editor window refuses to open. No errors on the BOXI server side either.
    They can work for a few days and everything works fine, when suddenly this behavior starts. When they report the issue to me and I try it myself, it works fine. I've checked their access rights repeatedly and have even given a user temporary full admin rights to rule out any rights issues, but they stll get this behavior.Just as strange, the problem suddenly will disappear. Often, they will send me an message several hours or days later stating that everything is OK again and they can edit their universe queries in the same reports that refused to work earlier.
    I've also checked the BOXI cluster nodes to see if possibly one of the services had a missing -requestport setting, and was choosing a random port that the firewall could be blocking, but everything looks fine. If I login to the BOXI cluster servers and try one of the reports, I can edit the query just fine.
    Any suggestions? I'm at my wits end.

    I had the same issue and it was because the Universe is having Oracle as Database and I dont have any Oracle drivers installed on my machine. Once i have installed Oracle drivers i was able to view/edit the query panel.
    Hope this would help you.

  • Cannot see System DSN in Crystal Reports 2008 on Vista/Windows 2008

    I've been making quite a bit of progress in switching migrating our Crystal Reports 8.0 reports and apps to Crystal Reports 2008 on our Windows 2008 server, but am currently stuck on a DSN issue that I hope someone here can help me out with.
    When I go to select a new ODBC data source in Crystal Reports 2008, the only ODBC data sources that show up in the list are User DSNs.  These reports will be served via our intranet website, so I need to use System DSNs.  The same is true on both my development computer running 64-bit Vista and the production server running Windows Server 2008.
    I'm using Visual Studio 2008 (C#) for development along with Crystal Reports 2008 (not the Crystal Reports Basic that comes with Visual Studio).
    How can I use a System DSN?  Any help or advice will be much appreciated!

    Hi, Paul;
    The first thing to check is to ensure you are creating a 32 bit ODBC DSN, and not a 64 bit one. Crystal Reports 2008 is 32 bit only.

  • Crystal Reports 2011 - Product keycode is not valid INS00140

    I ordered two copies of Crystal 2011 and neither keycode is working.  My users are on Windwos XP Professional SP3.
    I called in and was emailed the following instructions:
    Click on link
    Choose u201Csaveu201D
    Save to a know spot
    1.     Do not run the installation from archived package, extract the package first.  Click on 51041020.ZIP and choose extract.
    2.     Copy the installation package to hard drive if possible to avoid any networking issues.
    3.     Once extracted, the Setup.exe file can be found in the \DATA_UNITS\Crystal Reports\ u2026folder
    4.     Login to the machine as Local ADMINISTRATOR, if possible.
    5.     Temporary disable any kind of firewall, antivirus, network security etc., if possible.
    6.     Please note CR 2011 installation requires open port 4520 for communication. Blocked port 4520 may cause the following error
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    7.     On the latest versions of Windows, even if logged in As local Administrator, right-click setup.exe file and select "Run as Administrator". If you do
    not have Administrator account, try right click "Run as" Select current user and uncheck the "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized
    program activity".
    8.     Make sure there is enough space on the computer. If not sure about the space, run "Custom" installation with minimum components. Nonmandatory
    components could be added at any time
    This did not work.  I am still getting the error.

    See the very first Sticky post in this forum for more info on how to fix the problem.
    And Search on that error, lots of info...
    Thank you

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2011 - Product keycode

    Dear all,
    I have been requested to install SAP Crystal Reports 2011 to use it as a reporting tool for our SAP ERP 6.0.
    However, I got stuck when the installation program asks me for the "Product Keycode". Does anybody know if there is a temporary product keycode so we can evaluate this product before purchasing it?If so, where is it?
    Once SAP Crystal Reports 2011 is successfully installed, do we need to install anything else in order to set up the connection between SAP Crystal Reports 2011 and SAP ERP 6.0?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marc

    Since someone on your site obtained CR 2011, they should also have a permanent keycode...
    Failing that, the only way to get a 30 day temp  eval keycode is from here;
    http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
    But you will still have to go back to who ever obtained your current CR 2011 and ask them for a permanent keycode.
    Re. Connection to SAP ERP 6.0. You're better off asking in the SAP Crystal Reports Database Connectivity|SAP Crystal Reports - Data Connectivity; forum rather than in this forum.
