Cannot reboot back to OS X after Faulty Windows Installation

I tried to install Windows XP on my Mac Book Pro with OS X 10.6 using boot camp, but then, after an incomplete Windows XP Professional installation (error with CD-Key. Installer ran fine), I can no longer reboot into OS X. I booted using the Options key, but there was no option for the Mac HD, only the Windows HD and the CD drive. I'm sure I didn't format the Mac drive, but even when I put in the Mac installer disk and tried to find the other Mac partition using start-up disk, I don't have the option to boot in that partition. Disk utility recognize the other partition, but cannot access it.
How can I reboot back into Mac OS X?

really? what kind of other computer is it? is it another mac? then try repairing the hard drive with disk utility on that mac.
I'm only wondering why I can't reboot back into OS X?
I would guess the partition map got damaged somehow. this will probably require a complete hard drive wipe anyway but try disk utility on the other mac first.

but I cannot telnet back into the standby, i can ping it ok though.
I am loathe to go any further, and do the 'ft Switchover all' and reload the primary incase I cannot telnet back into the primary when it comes back up.

I would love to say that a refresh worked for me however it did not.It takes about 30 Minutes total I was able to trace part of the issue to a Registry Key that was tagging the processor. Because my BIOS manages its own temp gauge and windows is trying to
build on in I had to turn the BIOS one off as well as for some reason I get better funtionality with Visualization off.
I am still dealing with a lag but I was able to get ride of the freeze that made the computer completely useless.

Cannot roll back to Firefox 4 after installing Firefox 12

I'd upgraded to Firefox 12 from Firefox 4 on my Windows XP system, and it consistently closes instantly when starting, no crash dialog, no errors, nothing. Just instant close. I've tried opening it in safe mode, disabling all add-ons, and restarting in normal mode, and it still closes instantly.
So I decided to go back to Firefox 4. I uninstalled 12, manually deleted all the Mozilla Firefox folders and data, rebooted the computer, and installed Firefox 4. When I start Firefox 4 it will, without permission, immediately download the Firefox 12 upgrade. I tried unchecking the 'Check for updates to the browser' checkbox, but since it's already in the process of downloading the upgrade, I can't stop it.
What do I have to do to get rid of all vestiges of Firefox 12 so i can go back to using Firefox 4 normally, short of completely reinstalling my OS?

How do i get back to Mac OS after installing Windows 7

I just installed windows 7 on my macbook pro. i had OS Lion on my mac but I have no idea how to get back to it. If anyone knows how to go back and forth between the two operating systems PLEASE get back to me!

Reboot/restart, and hold down the Option key on your keyboard before the screen goes black. Keep it held down, and you'll see a boot panel giving you the option of choosing Mac or Windows partitions.

Cannot recover Satellite to factory settings after Win XP installation

I was running windows recovery then I choose option "delete all data.... "something like that.
Then in the middle by mistake I turned off the system.
After I tried to started windows if was giving error "operating system missing". I manage to install WINDOWS XP so I might able to access HDD RECOVERY but nothing happened.
I tried pressing "F8" key and also "0" key when computer start at "toshiba" logo but it's still not giving me option to recover my computer back to windows vista or you can say "out of box state".
One Important things is, while installing windows XP its showed me that HDD recovery exists and only 973MB is free out of 5665MB. It means I still have all the windows and drivers on HDD. Now please help to recovery system back normal or OUT OF BOX STATE.

The Win XP installation has damage and deleted the boot manager and the options preinstalled by Toshiba and supported by Toshiba image.
This means that if you will not be able to recover the unit using the HDD recovery option.
You could recover the unit back to factory settings only using the Toshiba recovery disk!!! But I assume you didnt create such disk is it right?

Cannot Connect to Shared Services DB after 11.1 installation

I uninstalled 9.3.1 and then installed 11.1
When I start the configuration process, the foundation services asks to connect to the Shared Services Database. I don't get the option of selecting Perform 1st Time Configuration (it is greyed out), the only choice is connect to previously configured shared services database. When I put in the name of the other shared services database, from the 9.3.1 installation, I get the following error:
Shared Services database content not found in the specified database
I am go to the uninstaller, but there is not an option to uninstall just shared services.
Any ideas would be appreciated

I renamed the file in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Universal\common\Gen1\_vpddb directory. When I ran the configuration again, I still do not get the option to configure a new db, and I still get the error from the original post.

Cannot load data on iPhone 4s after iOS 6 installation

Hi, i've just installed the iOS 6 onto my iPhone 4s but now all apps, connecting to wifi, everything is running slow or just timing out before it's even loaded. Can anyone help?

My problem is the same. The data doesn't run as fast as it did with the previous edition, and it affects some of my apps. From what I understand, we're pretty much S.O.L. until they come up with a patch. I hear they're working on one, but who knows how long it will be. I'll be annoyed until it shows up.

IMac shutting off after bootcamp/windows installation

I've succesfully installed a Bootcamp partition and Windows 7. This is the second time I've done this, and I'm noticing a trend. For some reason, the computer, when in OS X, will shut off by itself. I've never actually seen it do this, but it happened the last time Windows was installed. When I deleted the partition, the "phantom shutdown" stopped happening. I had thought it might be due to heat (it was summer, it was hot, I wasn't running AC) and when I deleted the partition it was getting cooler. But after the partition deletion, I never noticed a phantom shutdown again.
Then last weekend I re-intalled the partition and re-installed Windows 7. The computer, while in OS X, has shut down three times on its own. Again, it hasn't done this while someone was actually on the computer. So, it appears to be only doing this when in 'sleep' mode. The interesting thing is that I previoulsy had Snow Leopard when I had the partition before, but am now running Mavericks.
Has anyone else experienced this?

It cannot. Windows does not install nor boot from external or USB drives. You need to create a special USB booter on a USB flash drive. There are numerous methods for doing this which you can find doing a Google search. Unfortunately they all require a working Windows PC to do so.
Alternatively, you can try using VM software such as VirtualBox, Parallels, or VM Fusion - CNet Downloads or MacUpdate - to create a Windows VM on the computer. From there you can create a USB flash drive installer for Windows. You may even be able to install Windows from the DVD/CD from the VM, but I'm not sure if that will work since the disc will still be on an external drive even though the VM will access an external optical drive.

Stuck on grey screen after beginning windows installation

I went through the process of creating the partition on my drive through boot camp. When I get to the final step in the boot camp installer, it says something to the effect of "insert windows install disc and click begin installation." I follow those instructions, and the machine shuts down, boots up and gets stuck on a grey screen. Alternatively, I tried powering down and booting from the Windows install disc. This step brings me to the install screen, however when I'm at the point of choosing the drive I want to install the OS on, none of my partitions are listed. In fact, the list is completely blank. Does anyone know how to remedy this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I got off the grey screen by doing a force shutdown and re-installing Snow Leopard, in case anyone else is having the same problem. I'm now in the process of verifying that everything that was on my machine is still functional before I contemplate "upgrading" to Lion again. Needless to say, I recommend regular backups. I've been doing so for a long time and have never needed the backup until now -- I'm glad I have it!

How to make the recovery after a windows installation

Please I have a toshiba satellite m645 and I already can see the hdd partition but the problem is how to make it run. I just tried pressing F11 and nothing happens.
The problem is that I made a new installation of windows 7 but I didn't delete the hdd partition.

hi, can any one please advise what should I do for my server? Dell poweredge T630 cannot reboot after trying to add new memory card. What does "restore back" mean?
If it means go backwards to some earlier version of iOS, then Apple has never allowed that.
If it means reload the contents of your iPhone after doing a software update, you should be able to do that.
