Cannot Save book as PDF to computer- iphoto quits

When I try to save the book I created on iPhoto'11 Version 9.1 as a PDF to either my computer or my hard drive, iphoto quits and the following error message appears saying,
"Iphoto quit unexpectedly"...
When I look in my documents for the saved book, there is a PDF file for the book and when I click on it an error message appears saying
"The File cannot be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that preview doesn't recognize"

  • Save as PDF or Save Book As (pdf format) Causes Frame 8 to try to quit after creating PDF

I have Framemaker 8p273 and Acrobat distiller 8.1.3.
When trying to creating PDFs from books using either Save as PDF OR Save Books As (PDF) file, the PDF creates FINE but the program then attempts to quit by throwing up weird dialog boxes.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1.Open any book
2.Use File-->Save as PDF or File-->Save Books As and then choose type PDF
3.PDF created fine - no errors reported in Distiller window
    4. Framemaker then throws up a small dialog box that says "cannot quit." You cannot close this box, only click OKAY.
The only other issue that arises might be a "cannot print some graphics - will print as gray boxes"
    5. Clicking okay brings up sequence of 5 total of the same boxes (the book file has 7 files in it including the TOC).
    6. After last of 5 "cannot quit" boxes, a new Framemaker one appears, that says "Unsaved Changes in file (book name) Save before closing?" Options are Yes, No and Cancel. Yes saves file and quite Frame. No quits Frame. Cancel leaves file open.
I have reproduced this error multiple times with different books, using both the Save as PDF and Save Book As (PDF) commands.
File--Print Book using Acrobat printer works fine (making sure to enable the acrobat setting so bookmarks are properly generated).
Just frustrated that the first two options cause such an annoying error. Reported as a bug.

    Jaclyn,
I've seen this happen when an API client attempts to close a document that doesn't exist, which defaults to closing the FrameMaker session, but the session cannot close because it's in the middle of some operation. It's normally the result of sloppy code. Do you have any third-party API plugin software running? For that matter, does anyone know if the "Save as PDF" uses an API client? If so, might be a bug in that software, although it seems that there must be something unique going on here to invoke this behavior in your case.

    Hi pissedadobeuser,
Does this issue occur with any particular web page?
Are you able to print the webpage to 'Adobe PDF' to convert it to pdf.
Which Browser version, OS version and Acrobat version are you using?

  • Cannot save or print pdf from safari in Snow Leopard

Just recently have been unable to save or print PDF documents from two different websites using either Safari or FireFox on Snow Leopard (10.6). The same websites can be accessed, saved or printed on a different computer using Safari and Lion (10.7). Looking for help.

Found a previous post that suggested doing a Right Click on the PDF form in the Safari Window and then printing from the pop-up menu. This does work. Also, on one of the PDF forms there was a pop-up menu at the bottom of the form that appears only when you move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the form. From this memu I could either save or print. But, just using the Safari File>Print command did not work.
Although both of the alternate techniques work, it is still a mystery why this behavior should suddenly appear.

  • Save Book from PDF to Jpegs

I'm sending books to a non-apple printer., and rather than PDF, they need jpegs of the spreads.
I did this before by choosing Print > PDF > Save PDF to folder as Jpegs.
One could doctor the automator scripts in PDF services to produce a 300 dpi Jpeg
This does't seem to work under Snow Leopard
Part of the automator sequence doesn't work.
I get messages "The behaviour of this workflow may have changed....
The workflow was saved with an older version of the action Rename Finder Items
The workflow was saved with an older version of the action Copy Finder Items
The workflow was saved with an older version of the action Move Finder Items
The workflow was saved with an older version of the action Move Finder Items to Trash"
Then "The item "Retrieve Disk Item References" countered an error..."
How can I get it to work without opening each individual page in Photoshop?
    regards Adrian

  • Distiller error when trying to save book as pdf

I haven't used FrameMaker since about version 5 or 6, but recently I have picked up a few client jobs requiring RoboHelp and FrameMaker. I tearfully parted with the funds for TS 4, crossing my fingers that the investment would pay itself off. I have a client now with FrameMaker 10 files that I am working on in FM 11. When I try to save the book as a pdf from the File menu, I get this error:
How do I fix this? Please don't tell me I need to buy Acrobat to make this work...you don't want to make an old woman cry.

    > I haven't used FrameMaker since about version 5 or 6 ...
    Was it still installed?
Was a contemporary version of Distiller still installed?
That old Distiller is incompatible with FM10 & 11.
You might need to uninstall it and re-install TCS4.
As a quick fix, you might try printing to .ps and Distilling separately.
I don't have FM10 or 11, so the above represents more than I know.

  • Cannot save over existing PDF

I have a reports that I open and save while I work on them, and I do this multiple times in a row but only need to have a specific report handy for a few minutes. So I will then open a new one and go to save it over the previous one, it says do you want to over right to which I click on yes, and then it comes back with an error saying I do not have permissions to save. However, I do, and I tested it out with other types of files which I can save as or even save and replace the existing file. It is only an issue with PDFs, and the PC is Windows 7 running Adobe Reader XI.

Well, how difficult could it be to fix such an obvious bug not allowing to overwrite existing files. And how many upgrades did you  release since I reported this one year ago? What stupid kind of policy is this to fix non-security bugs only in next major (x+1) release?

  • Cannot save copies of PDF files on Mac

Every time I try "Save as Copy" it returns error message "There was a macintosh system error (-5000)", or sometimes the error number is (+5000).
I've searched for help but cannot find any reference to this error message.  The files have no security settings.
Any help would be gratefully received.

I've never repaired disk permissions on this Mac - do you think it will help?
For an error of that sort, it might. Certainly won't hurt.
As an aside, I tent to repair disk permissions before and after any large(ish) install. Especially system updates. It'll keep your Mac healthy.
Also it doesn't hurt to leave it on overnight and on occassional weekends so it can run repair scripts or use a third party utility like Onyx to run them when you want. You can also repair disk permissions with Onyx.

  • How can I turn a form that is open on my browser into a PDF doc if I cannot save it onto my computer

How can I turn a form that is on my Safari browser into a PDF if I cannot save the form onto my computer?

Acrobat XI Pro has a "create PDF from a web page" feature. If you have Acrobat XI Pro installed perhaps you can "capture" the web form as a PDF. If so then this PDF can (of course) be saved to the local machine's HDD.
    Be well...

  • Cannot save as PDF - "Could not save a copy as (filename) because the file is already in use..."

I have a number of PSD files I've created and I'm trying to save them as PDFs.
I can Save for Web and Devices, I can save as a .gif, .eps., and every other format I've tested, but I cannot save as a PDF. I get the error:
"Could not save a copy as (filename) because the file is already in use or was left open by another application."
    I'm running Adobe Master Collection CS5 with Photoshop CS 5.5 (12.0.4 x64) on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.
I have a 928 GB HD with 697 GB free.
I have rebooted and tried saving the files immediately after I reboot. I have killed my virus scanner. I have killed a number of other possible culprits including Acrotray.exe and CS5ServiceManager.ext
I have run Process Explorer as recommended by Microsoft and found no applications using the file. I've also tried saving the file to my external hard drive and/or renaming the file with only rare luck.
    Nothing seems to fix it.
The boards seem to suggest Adobe isn't taking responsibility for this and pointing it back to the OS or other software. I'm willing to believe them if someone can show me how/where to kill whatever process it is - but at this point, all my indicators point back to Photoshop.

Here is a clip from a past post where user could not drag and drop files to hard drive.
To my great relief I have now sorted this issue and offer the following as the Correct Answer. My sincere and grateful thanks go to Curt and Yammer, above, who have helped me so much in sorting this Windows 7 issue which is clearly very relevant to Bridge users also. Any slowness to grasp what they have been saying is down to me!
The key to solving this issue lies is understanding that in terms of Windows 7 Security, every internal or external hard drive, plus folders, sub-folders and files thereon has an OWNER. Also each OWNER has a certain level of PERMISSION to do things such as moving files to a different folder, deleting or re-naming them etc. If you try to do things that you don't currently have Permission to do, that is when you get an ‘Access Denied’ error message. Also your system has an Admistrator or Administrators and at the outset you need to ensure through the Control Panel that you are listed as one of them. .
If, like me, you didn't realise these things, (and why would you if Microsoft or your computer or hard drive suppliers couldn't be bothered to really make sure you knew about them), then trying to fathom the ‘Access Denied’ problem becomes a stressful and frustrating nightmare as I can testify having spent a week at it!
The steps that I took to resolve the issue and which I believe now constitute the 'Correct Answer' are as follows:
First make sure that you have Administrator rights on your system via the Control Panel
Next ‘right click’ on the Drive whose files you want to gain full access to, for example the drive that your pictures are stored on, and click on 'Properties'.
Under the Security tab you will see a list of Groups and Users on this drive and the Permissions that they have to do things.
Before doing anything to edit these Permissions, first click on the Advanced button. This opens another window with a tab showing the Owner of this drive.
Click on the Owner tab and if you are not already listed as the owner, make yourself the owner by selecting your name from the list. I believe it should appear there if you are an admistrator or user. (In my case at this stage the owner was initially shown as an obscure string of numbers and letters which I believe identified the drive when it was connected to the lap top I was using before I upgraded my machine)
Now be sure to check the box that says "Replace Owner on Subcontainers and Objects" and the click Apply. On completion of this step, the drive in question and all the folders, subfolders and files thereon should now be 'owned' by you. You could check this out by right clicking on a particular folder then clicking Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner. Your name should appear. So far so simples!
Now go back to the Security Tab for your drive (Step 2 / 3 above) and look at the Permissions you currently have. Your aim now is to allow yourself 'Full Control.' If you don’t currently have this level of permission click Edit, select your name on the list, check ‘Full Control’ and 'Apply' the change.
I think I'm right in saying that at this point whilst still working in the Drive directory you are now given the option of ticking boxes which allow you to, in effect, cascade the permission you have just granted yourself to all the files and folders on that drive. Tick the box to allow this and Windows should then take care of the rest.If I'm not quite correct here then in my particular case, for example, all my images were stored on my external drive. The top level, or 'parent' folder in which all my pictures could be found was the 'My Pictures' folder and I had created a number of folders and subfolders ('child ' folders) within that folder. The permissions I gave to the Parent folder – My Pictures – were cascaded down through the Child folders.
On completion of the above step I tested the result in Windows Explorer by dragging a few files back and forth between folders and it now worked perfectly - I was now able to move / delete / rename etc all files without now getting the dreaded access denied message. What a sense of relief! This meant that I could now open Bridge normally rather than having to right click it and 'Run As Admistrator' - albeit that is a very useful thing to do until you get the problem sorted as described.

I downloaded new apple software and now I cannot save pictures from email directly to iphoto.

    Reset your iTouch:
    > Hold the Home & Power button for 10 second til the screen goes black. Wait 3-5 seconds then turn back on.

If unsuccessful, do a normal restore:

  • Cannot save bookmarks selection

    Hi all,
I have a strange little problem that is going to make me crazy.
    Um...crazier.
Frame 11 is not saving my bookmark selections when I generate a PDF. Here's what I do:
    Save book as PDF.
Select the Bookmarks tab in the PDF setup dialog.
Tell it to include paragraph X.
    Set.
All works fine. Paragraph X is included in the PDF bookmarks. But when I go back to regen the book, paragraph X is back on the Don't Include list.
Frame used to save the bookmark selections...at least in the rose-colored universe I currently remember.
    I have tried:
Saving the book as something else
    MIFing the book
    Recreating the book
Uninstalling and reinstalling Frame (you know I'm desperate if I tried this)
Any ideas? This is about to turn my hair straight.
    rich

    Rich,
FrameMaker stores the PDF setup in the first file of the book. So, open the first file in the book, and create a PDF with the bookmark settings that you want. Be sure to save the file after the PDF is created. Then close the file. Now try creating the PDF for the book. You should see your settings already made in the PDF setup.
Caveats: I use FrameMaker 9 and have discovered that the first time I create a PDF from the book, after PDFing the first file, not all the settings are saved. I then correct the settings and PDF the book; from then on, all is well.
I have also discovered in version 9 that I need to at least open the PDF settings dialog and click Yes (or OK or whatever) to make sure the bookmarks are created correctly. I never have to make changes in the dialog box, just open and save it. Maybe this is no longer the case in the newer versions of FrameMaker.

  • Error reads "Cannot save information" when trying to save my pdf form on another computer

Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong in the creation of my PDF form.   When we try to open it on another PC it comes up with another window which reads as follows:
    Cannot Save Form Information
PLEASE NOTE:   You cannot save a competed copy of this form on your computer.
If you would like a copy for your records, please fill it in and print it.
If anyone can help me, I would be greatly appreciative !
    Thanks,
    Robert

That message shouldn't show up if you use Reader 11 or DC, unless the form was created with LiveCycle Designer. It also won't happen in Reader if you Reader-enable the form in Acrobat. To do so with Acrobat 11 select:
File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools
The specific menu items are different for every other version of Acrobat.

I just bought the Adobe PDF to word conversion.  But I cannot save it to my computer file. What do I need to do? I do not want this form in the cloud

    Hi mlleslie,
If I understand correctly, you've converted a file and now want to download it and remove it from your Acrobat.com account. Is that correct? What happens when you try to download it from https://cloud.acrobat.com/files? Do you get an error?
Once you've downloaded it, you can delete it from your account by selecting it and clicking the trash can icon.
Please let us know how it goes.
