Cannot update music files

Hi !
I have read through all the threads and FAQs of the Apple sites and forums and could not find a solution to my problem. I am about to get totally crazy and I thank anyone who could help me !!
Here it is : Windows XP - iTunes 6.0.2.23 - iPod 20 G 2.3 just updated (2006-06-28)- iTunes library 15,48 Gb - iPod capacity : 18,5 Gb
I am just trying as usual to put on my iPod the new mp3 files I added recently in the iTunes library.
I connect the iPod, iTunes begins to add new files, and a message prompts saying some fils can't be copied on the iPod because they can't be read by the iPod.
Then at the end of the process I have this error message : "Reading and writing impossible on this disk" Then everything freezes, iPod, iTunes, computer, and I have to quit programs, disconnect the iPod and restart the computer without respecting the safety procedures since everything is frozen.
I could hopefully reset the iPod each time but I do need to u^pdate the music files.
What's happening ????
Thanks in davance.
HP   Windows XP   iTunes 6.0.2.23 - iPod 20 G 2.3 just updated (2006-06-28)

Well ... at least ... I succeded !!! It took me no less than 6 hours to do it but perseverance pays off !
For those who would unfortunately happen to encounter the same kind of problem, this is what I did :
I downloaded some Windows updates, updated my iPod and eventually had to restore it.
I then put all the Library back in the iPod and it seems it now works properly.
I followed the advice given on this page :
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301267-en
Still, I almost got totally crazy and it was really time I found a solution !! I hate computer problems !! (but I love music)
Ok that said I feel better
Good luck !

Im not sure which file or which location is being referred to here.
im sure ive done something but cant seem to recall what that might have been...
im a little puzzled though since it still launches etc.
any help would be appreciated. (2007 imac)

Is that the exact error message? When do you get this error? will your iPhoto library work properly withou the update?

  • Deployment Problem: Cannot update archive file

    Hi!
I am trying to deploy an EAR for my Projekt "PegasusServerApp". The Application had been deployed on the server before but I removed it using remove_app on a telnet client. (and it is really gone! at least I cannot see it anymore in the visual administrator nor in the telnet client)
Another attempt to deploy the (re-worked) Application fails with com.sap.engine.deploy.manager.DeployManagerException: com.sap.engine.services.deploy.container.DeploymentException: Cannot update archive file PegasusEJB.jar
What makes me suspicious is a detail from the deployment log: Update: Selected development component 'PegasusServerApp'/'isenergy.de'/'localhost'/'2004.12.02.19.02.19' updates currently deployed development component 'PegasusServerApp'/'isenergy.de'/'localhost'/'2004.12.02.11.18.52'.
Why is it "currently deployed" when I removed it before?
Has anyone an idea what goes wrong?

    Hi again!
It appears that the problem is related to some resources within the PegasusEJB.jar: almost all resources like .xml files are neatly located unter rsrc/de/isnenergy/pegasus/... where they can be found by their corresponding classes. The classes have packages like de.isenergy.pegasus.... . Some resources, however, are located under rsrc/icons and there is no package icons. (don't ask me how they are found)
this may be the reason! When I remove the icon-resources, I can deploy my EAR.
    agree?

    Hey MHallon,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you need to redownload previously purchased content from the iTunes Store. The following resource should assist you in doing so:

  • Cannot Update a File.

I have purchased several new extensions recently and when I
install them through Extension Manager it errors out at the end of
    the progress bar and states
"Cannot Update a File. Extension will not be installed."
I have Vista Ultimate running Dreamweaver CS3 and Dreamweaver
    8. I read on some other forums that having both installed confuses
the Extension Manager so I removed Dreamweaver 8. Still the same
problem. I performed some file monitoring and noticed it was having
problems with a Menu.xml file located at
    "C:\Users\root\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver
    9\Configuration\Menus\Menus.xml".
Anyone have these issues? Nothing I have found online which
resolves this for older versions worked.

I have updated the file in question on my development computer.  I then saved it to a network drive.  I then uploaded it to the ftp.  Next, I went back to the Win 8.1 machine.  I opened the ftp and copied the file.  I then pasted
it to the desktop.  I then opened the file and verified that it was not updated.  I then accessed the network drive and copied the file, then pasted on the desktop.  Voila!  It was updated.  Conclusion: Cannot copy and paste from ftp
(unless it had never been present) but can update from other source.
On the Win 8.1:  Next, I reopened the ftp, copied the file.  Returned to the desktop (which now contained the identical updated version copied from network drive).  Pasted.  Opened the file.  Alas, it had reverted to the version
prior to copying from the network file.  I next deleted the file, then downloaded from ftp again.  The previous version reappeared! Conclusion:  Anytime an update is attempted from ftp, the version reverts to something it finds in a cache somewhere.
I did try rebooting at this point, but the previous version was still there.
After a reboot of the Win 8.1 machine, I could copy and paste successfully from ftp to desktop.
You asked about the former system edition:  Windows 7 on my development computer.   I don't have an installation log, but I am not sure exactly to what you refer.  Office 2010 Professional is the source software; MS Access 2010 Runtime is
the program used on the 8.1 computer.  Note that this all works on users using Win 7 and the same Runtime.

  • ? after updating to itunes 10.6.3 on my pc, cannot transfer music files to iphone 4s

after updating to itunes 10.6.3 on my pc windows 7, i cannot transfer music from pc to iphone 4s

When I try to "drag and drop" a song, it just does not allow me to do it (circle with line thru it). I should also mention that I just changed PC's as well.  I tsnsferred all of the music files from the hdd of the old to the new. After reading some of the other posts, I think this might have more to do with the problem than the switch to itunes 10.6.3?

  • Updated music files on my hard drive and now itunes can't find path.

I updated my music files on my hard drive and now iTunes can't find the path. too many to manually do. can itunes refresh or should i delete all itunes music files and re-import?

Once a track is in your iTunes library, you should not touch it except through iTunes. But I guess you know that now.
iTunes, to answer your question, cannot "refresh." If you re-add those files to your library, iTunes is unable to match them with the existing library entries, and will create a bunch of duplicate entries. This is a longstanding shortcoming of iTunes (and the source of lots of traffic on this fourm).
If there are "too many to manually" reassociate, then starting over, in the sense of deleting and then re-adding, may be a good plan.

  • Ipod cannot find music files

I just updated to iTunes 12.1.1.4, and once again, I plug in my iPod and my music went from over 2500 songs to 174!! ABSOLUTELY FRUSTRATED!
Restore did not work. I click on music files on my iPod and I get the icon but there is no option to "find" the file. All the help articles talk about how to find files in iTunes. They are not missing from iTunes, they are missing from my iPod! And it's RIDICULOUS that Apple wants me to pay $29 for support on software that always corrupts my iPod!!!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Update Music file information to information in Itunes???

When my music files are imported to itunes, I have to change the info for many of my music because it is in form of Track 1 and such. Is there any way to update the info of the actual files of the music so it is the same as the info on itunes? Hope that makes sense. Thanks

You can change the info within iTunes by right-click, Get Info.  When you click OK, the relevant info (Artist, Album, yesr, etc) is written to the file, and will still be there if you use the file in another player or move it to another computer.

  • Updating Music Files in iPod

I'm a musician and record my own music. I like to transfer it to my iPod so I can listen to it over and over away from the PC in order to identify any improvements to the arrangement, mix, etc.
Now, the problem I have is that in order to transfer an updated copy of a particular music file from iTunes to the iPod, I have to delete it from iTunes, update the iPod, import the song to iTunes, then update the iPod again. If I don't do this, the old version stays on the iPod whereas the new version is in iTunes.
Is there any way that the iPod can recognise that a particular file has been modified and retrieve that file from iTunes?
    iPod 40GB   Windows XP

Are you using autosync or manual sync mode on your iPod? If you're in manual sync, then you have to copy the song to the iPod again yourself, regardless. If it's autosync, then it will recognize changes to songs. Try changing the name of the song or the album or something like that.
Really, most people complain that iTunes updates songs on the iPod when they don't change, not the other way around.

  • ITunes library file NOT corrupt but cannot locate music files

This is a new one... the library file seems to be NOT corrupt. iTunes loads fine and is populated by all the music information and artwork, etc. but when I click to play a tune, it says "cannot locate music". Nothing was moved, nothing has been changed. All my files are in the same location and iTunes shows the correct file path. The only files it can play are four songs that were imported before a massive rebuild of the library occurred the next day!
    Any ideas!!
    Thanks!

+The only files it can play are four songs that were imported before a massive rebuild of the library occurred the next day!+
This is probably a big clue, but I don't understand what you mean by it!

  • I Tunes 9.0.2 installs ok but will not update music files and then crashes

Installed the newest update for I Tunes and the install goes well but after rebooting computer as is required for the full update, try to start I tunes player and it tries to update the music files but crashes after it gets about half way through the update of the music files and then the computer wants to send this error message to microsoft: AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 9.0.2.25 ModName: uplaymeitunesplugin.dll
    ModVer: 1.2.0.5 Offset: 000030b1
Then when you send this message to microsoft I Tunes closes. Tried to uninstall the new version but the older version will no longer update my music files and it crashes. Help!!!!

it tries to update the music files but crashes after it gets about half way through the update of the music files and then the computer wants to send this error message to microsoft:
It might be choking on a dodgy content file as it goes to do the library update.
Is it always crashing when it gets to a particular song/video? If so, try removing that file from wherever you have it stored on the hard drive. With it out of the way, does the library update go through properly?

  • I cannot update a file by downloading revised version from my ftp site.

I write Access database programs for a couple of non-profit groups.  When I make a change, I upload the changed program to an ftp site, alert them to download again, and off they go with the new version.  Been doing this for several years.  Fast
forward to today: husband just bought new Win 8.1 computer.  I installed the Access 2010 Runtime, then downloaded the database.  It worked.  I then made a couple of changes to the program on my development computer necessitated by the wide screen
display on the new computer, uploaded the changed program to the ftp site, proceeded to download the update to the win 8 computer and it won't update to the new version until and unless I reboot.  What am I doing wrong?  My users should not have
to close everything and reboot before updating the program--I will surely soon have several using Win 8.

I have updated the file in question on my development computer.  I then saved it to a network drive.  I then uploaded it to the ftp.  Next, I went back to the Win 8.1 machine.  I opened the ftp and copied the file.  I then pasted

  • Updating music files from itunes to ipod

    hi,
i'm having troubles with my 4gb nano.
i'm using manually manage my files.
i've dragged and dropped music files from itunes to ipod.
but when i change the id3 tags of those files in itunes, then "update my ipod" from the file menu,
it does not update (with the names, details etc) of those same files onto my ipod.
    is this meant to be?
do i have to manually drag the "new" detailed music files again?
    thanks for the help

OK so let me ask the basic question you failed to include in your post.
First question is how is your iPod set up with respect to syncing with iTunes? Is it set up to auto sync everything, auto sync only specific playlists, or is it set up to manually manage ?
Let's start with that and go from there.

    Any Idea on this issue?

    Hi,
below is the recommendation for the MOH file for RGS,
All wave files must meet the following requirements
    8-bit or 16-bit file
Linear pulse code modulation (LPCM), A-Law, or mu-Law format
    Mono or stereo
    4MB or less
For the best performance of wave files, a 16 kHz, mono, 16-bit Wave file is recommended.
get a file converted to above specs and upload. it should work.
