Cant add output to xml adapter source

Hi we run 2012 std.  I have an xml adapter whose xsd looks similar to what is shown below.  I'm struggling with what the obstacle might be for adding an output that contains report-date and some-name (see 6th and 7th lines down).
All other outputs seem fine.   They include customers, customer, asset contents, asset item and summary.

I was hoping that the simple way would work.  Remove the maxOccurs attribute, it isn't helping.
Here are some ideas on how to get the value from the root node using the xml task.  I find that it is a challenge to set up right.  Here are a couple ideas.

Look at my instructions for using XPath.

  • Cant add effect to clip in source window. The hand icon cant drop the effect has a bar sign.?

    I load a clip into the source monitor and try to apply an effect to it.
    The hand icon drags the effect over the selected source windows but does not drop the effect onto the clip. ?
    How would I fix this?

    Select the clip in the timeline  - but don't double click.
    Press the 'F' key - clip appears in source monitor
    Drag effect to clip in source monitor
    Adjust effect  - this will be added to all instances of the master clip in the timeline.
    It's all there in the help files.

  • 'Add Output Header' option of File Write Adapter

    Hi All,
    Could you please tell what is this option used for :
    'Add Output Header'
    In a File Write Adapter, and how can I test it?
    Thanks.

    To have fixed header every time before it writes the data, i think you should have file with header and data, then use it to configure file write in JCA adapter.
    This will create a schema with static header and dynamic results to the schema file.
    So that everytime you will have the header then it write the data below that.
    Note: I have done this some years back, i wrote here with from my memory.
    Let me know if you still have problem, wll try to create a simple example and share.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

  • Getting question marks in html output when XML sourced from a CLOB...

    I have noticed a number of other unanswered questions on the
    same subject in this forum. Can someone at Oracle shed some
    light on this problem?...
    I store XML in CLOBS which contain a lot of &eacute; &ouml;
    characters. When using XSQL to select the XML from the CLOB I
    have to apply a stylesheet to the XSQL (myFile.xsql) with
    disable-output-escaping ="yes" in order to output well formed
    XML.
    I then call the XSQL file from inside another stylesheet i.e.
    <xsl:variable name="sample" select="document(myFile.xsql)"/>
    <xsl:template match="/">
    <xsl:for-each select="$sample">
    <html>
    <body>
    <title>
    <xsl:value-of select="/page/title"/>
    </title>
    </body>
    </html>
    etc...
    I use <xsl:for-each select="$sample"> to output the XML I need,
    within the HTML. The problem is though if "&eacute;" appears in
    the /page/title node the output in HTML appears as a question
    mark.
    Its important to note as well that the stylesheet I apply to
    myFile.xsql starts with:
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
    xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
    <xsl:output doctype-system="/myFile.dtd" indent="yes"/>
    etc..
    and myFile.dtd has <!ENTITY eacute "&#x000E9;"> in order to
    validate &eacute; in the CLOB.
    I don't have this problem when the &eacute; character is stored
    in a VARCHAR2 column and the VARCHAR2 column is in the same
    select statement as the CLOB in the XSQL file. This outputs in
    my HTML just fine. What am I missing here?
    Shaun

    I parse the XML doc into a domdocument and then loop through using xpath.valueof to pull the individual values from the nodes and then build a generic insert. It works quite well with a small number of columns. I'm not sure how it would work with a lot of columns. You can get code examples from Steve Muench's book "Developing Oracle XML Applications".

  • How to create a report using XML data source from Crystal Report Designer

    Hi,
    Iu2019m having Crystal Report Designer XI R2 SP4. Iu2019m trying to create a report using XML data source stored on disk. This is a customer order report and the xml is structured in such a way that it has an order details header part (master) and then it has several order lines (detail). One order line can have several order line characteristics (detail-detail). So what I need to know is now I can design this layout from the designer. If this was done using views I can do it with sub-reports but using xml data this seems to be different. Can you help me to design this layout? I have included the xml and xsd as well.
    Thank you in advance.

    Then I can see the following under XML

            CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST
         CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP
         CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES
         CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES/ORDER_LINE
         CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES/ORDER_LINE/ORDER_LINE_CHARACTERSTICS
         CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES/ORDER_LINE/ORDER_LINE_CHARACTERSTICS/CHARACTERSTIC_ITEM
    And from here if I add the following three I can get all the fields I need to the report
         CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP
         CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES/ORDER_LINE
         CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES/ORDER_LINE/ORDER_LINE_CHARACTERSTICS/CHARACTERSTIC_ITEM
    Then I come to the Linking section. Here I canu2019t link anything. There is a common field called u201CInternal_IDu201D but I canu2019t link using it. So I get a message when I click Next. From here I add all the fields.

  • Unclosed meta/img tag. Output method= xml / xhtml / xml

    Hello,
    Im trying to parse from a Document to an String, in the usually way, as follows:
        public static String parseDocument(Document document) {
            try {
                if (document== null) {
                    return null;
                TransformerFactory tFactory =
                        TransformerFactory.newInstance();
                Transformer transformer = tFactory.newTransformer();
                DOMSource source = new DOMSource(document);
                StringWriter sw = new StringWriter();
                StreamResult result = new StreamResult(sw);
                transformer.transform(source, result);
                String xmlString = sw.toString();
                return xmlString;
    //TODO: error handling
            } catch (TransformerConfigurationException ex) {
                return null;
            } catch (TransformerException ex) {
                return null;
            } catch (Exception ex) {
                return null;
    }Ive maked a test that creates a Document:
      public static Document createFromDoc(){
            try {
                DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
                DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
                DOMImplementation impl = builder.getDOMImplementation();
                Document doc = impl.createDocument(null, null, null);
                Element root = doc.createElement("html");
                doc.appendChild(root);
                Element head = doc.createElement("head");
                root.appendChild(head);
                Element meta = doc.createElement("meta");
                meta.setAttribute("http-equiv", "Content-Type");
                meta.setAttribute("content", "text/xml");
                meta.setAttribute("charset", "UTF-8");
                head.appendChild(meta);
                Element title = doc.createElement("title");
                head.appendChild(title);
                Element body = doc.createElement("body");
                root.appendChild(body);
                Element div = doc.createElement("div");
                div.appendChild(doc.createTextNode("Created with docs."));
                body.appendChild(div);
                return doc;
            } catch (ParserConfigurationException ex) {
                Logger.getLogger(Main.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
                return null;
        }Well, you can see the test method "prueba1". Y:
        public static void prueba1(){
            Document doc1 = Main.createFromDoc();
            //String doc2 = Main.createFromString();
            String doc1Str = GestorXMLDoc.parseDocument(doc1);
            return;
        }Why my method public static String parseDocument(Document document) adds this extra meta tag when it transforms a Document to an String:
    <META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
    and modifies the other meta tag as follows (I mean, unclosing it):
    <meta charset="UTF-8" content="text/xhtml" http-equiv="Content-Type">
    You can see the full String result:
    <html>
    <head>
    <META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
    <meta charset="UTF-8" content="text/xhtml" http-equiv="Content-Type">
    <title></title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div>Created with docs.</div>
    </body>
    </html>I tried parsing with a fake XSLT Template with output: XML, and it doesnt works. I tried changing the meta content data with "text/xml".
    This method makes the document not compatible with XML, because it doesnt close the meta tag. I need work with this XHTML doc as a valid XML document, not as a HTML (W3C allows set meta/link/img tags unclosed) to add new nodes.
    Thank you ppl =)

    First of all, what you are trying to do is transforming, not parsing. Parsing is converting an XML document into an internal form, and you already have the XML in the internal form (org.w3c.dom.Document).
    Anyway, XSLT has special rules for transforming a document whose root element's name is "html". It looks like those rules are being applied in your case. If you don't want them to be applied (which you don't if you are producing XHTML) then you have to tell the transformer you want XML as your output and not HTML.
    If you had an XSLT document you would use <xsl:output method="xml"/>, but you don't have one in this case. So you do it like this:
    transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.METHOD, "xml");

  • Using a SQL data source and XML data source in the same template

    I am trying to develop a template for the Request for Quote report generated in Apps 11.5.10. I have loaded the data from the XML output into the template, but I am missing one field - I need the org_id from the po_headers table. Is it possible to use a sql data source (i.e., "select org_id from po_headers_all where po_header_id = [insert header_id from xml data]...") in addition to the xml data source to populate the template at runtime? When you use the Insert > SQL functionality is it static at the time the template is created, or does it call to the database at runtime? I've looked through all the docs I could find, but this isn't clear.
    Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have.
    Rhonda

    Hi Pablo
    Thats a tough one ... if you go custom with a data template you will at least get support on the data template functionality ie you have a problem when you try and build one. You will not get support on the query inside the data template as you might have gotten with the Oracle Report, well you could at least log a bug against development for a bad query.
    Eventually that Oracle Report will be converted by development anyway, theres an R12 project going on right now to switch the shipped OReports to data templates. AT this point you'll be fully supported again but:
    1. You have to have R12 and
    2. You'll need to wait for the patch
    On reflection, if you are confident enough in the query then Oracle will support you on its implementation within a data template. Going forward you may be able to swap out your DT and out in the Oracle one without too much effort.

  • XML Publisher data engine vs. switching output to XML in the Con.Program.

    What is the difference between setting up templates using the data engine described in the 5.6 user's guide and creating a customer report and setting its output to XML?
    Is it a matter of you being able to totally create your own XML and add atrributes to tags and such? Is this the only way to get data output from Oracle into an XML file? It's been a while, but i recall creating XML output on the fly with .Net pretty easily via an ASPX page.
    Seems like alot of work to achieve this? Am I missing something?
    If I wanted to have a JSP page where a user could use a form to query the database via IE, are these the API's i need to use for the returned data to come back as XML?

    You should try posting your query in XML Publisher forum, which is now BI Publisher.

  • How to Write Log Message in a XML Data Source Report

    Hi Friends,
    Can anyone help me out what is the process of writing a log file in the XML Data Source Report. for eg: in Plsql we use FND_LOG.PUT_LINE to print the Log message in the Concurrent Request Output. in the similar manner, when we develop a report using XML, where we write Coding in XQuery of XML, what is the process need to follow to print the logs for the XQuery.
    Any inputs/Suggestion on this Highly appreciable.
    Thanks in advance.

    Create an RMI application (for example) that writes the log, and let all logging calls call that remote application.
    Something like that is the only feasible way that doesn't require you to have a drive on the remote machine mapped to the local one (which causes its own problems as you could have multiple simultaneous write attempts...).

  • 10g Reports issue with XML Data Source

    Hi,
    Has anybody ever encountered an issue with Oracle 10g report using an XML as the data source? What happens is, some of the values in the XML are printed to the wrong column.
    One of the elements in our XML file is a complex type with 10 elements under it. The first 5 are picked up properly, but the last 6 are not. Elements #6 to #9 has a minimum occurence of 0. What happens is when element #6 is present, but #7 is, the value for element #7 is passed on to element #6.
    The XSD and XSL files are both valid since the reports were working when we were still using 9i. There is no hidden logic in the report which might cause this issue to come up, i.e., the report just picks up the values from the XML and prints it to the appropriate columns.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • MapViewer with XML data source

    Hello all,
    We have the MapViewer read data from JDBC data source doing spatial queries. Can any one tell me if I can use XML data source as input to the MapViewer.
    We have a data source that is only available thru Web services, we cannot make a database view on the schema.
    If not is it planned in the production version.
    Thanks

    How does the xml data look like? in GML?
    If the xml data set is not too large, maybe you can add them (after your application has parsed them) as additional MapViewer GeoFeatures in a map request.
    Currently MapViewer (preview or production release of 9.0.4) does not support xml-only datasource.
    We will look into incorporating GML or other standard-based xml datasource for a future release of MapViewer.

  • CollapsiblePanel with XML data source

    I've been working with the CollapsiblePanel for the past two
    nights. I can't make the panel collapse at runtime when I have XML
    data attached.
    I validated by downloading one of the Adobe Lab
    CollapsiblePanel samples. I validated that I could make the sample
    work from my Dreamweaver CS3 environment. Then, I added an XML data
    source and retested. The panel would not collapse. Then, I took out
    the XML dataset and retested the CollapsiblePanel. It worked.
    Is this a design feature? I can't imagine this was designed
    to work this way. I'm trying to create a scrollable div that can
    collapse. I have everything working except the collapse feature.
    (BTW: I tried defining a spry:region and spry:detailregion, it
    didn't seem to matter.)

    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    I'm trying to use the XML data source via http and i'm running into a couple of issues.
    First, we have separate environments for development, QA, and production.  Each environment will have a seperate URL to retrieve the XML for the report.  I would like to use the same report design to access each environment.  Is there a way to update the URL in the data source (or replace the data source with one that has the correct URL) without having to re-add the fields to the report design?
    The second issue is similar.  I can't seem to get Crystal to recognize changes in the XML format (new fields for example) without having to delete and recreate the data source (which automatically removes all the associated fields from the report).  Is there a way around this, or again, a way of re-creating the data source without it removing the existing fields in the report?
    Thanks,
