I have a 2011 mac mini and want to put install windows 7 ultimate for bootcamp from a pc (win xp), since that is all that I have besides the mac mini, and cant seem to find anything anywhere about how to do remote disc, or something like it, from a pc to a mac.
Thank you, any help I can get will be an enormous help!

Open, as in from the Finder (desktop view) or from inside from the File menu?
You cannot Save in .doc format, only export
If you need full Office Word then you might want to buy Office 2011 for Mac
For me, old school, a manual is handy to have

  • Downloaded tv show episodes. Bought the entire season and after watching one and downloaded first 4-5 they disappeared.  This was during the time I was trying to migrate stuff from an older mac mini. Help?

I downloaded several episodes of the tv show "touch."  I purchased the entire season and had watched one show.  It took quite some time for each show to download, but I had downloaded 4-5.
About this time (within the last two weeks) I was trying to use migration assistant to migrate information from my older mac mini and my macbook.  while I was able to move things from my older mac mini I noticed that the tv show went missing.
Also I purchased a program called 'Touched" in a season pass.  After I downloaded a couple of episodes I watched one and continued to download the episodes as they were available.
I also purchased a program called "Tune Up" which elminates duplicates of iTunes songs.  I have a large collection and this helped to get rid of the duplicates faster than clicking on them one at a time.  Maybe this had something to do with the tv shows episodes and the podcasts disapeering.
    Any ideas?

    This may help

As far as the TV series being in 1080p then that is upto the content provider and some older seasons are in 720p or only SD eg Stargate
It may well be that the season you want is only available in 720p

  • Cant install 10.8 on 2012 mac mini quad core

I bought this computer from my brother and wiped the hd and kept it to sell.  So I installed a 256 ssd.  Problem is when I try to install lion it wont let me.  I made a bootable install flash drive and hold alt at boot up and when the screen appears I click on 10.8 install and the screen goes to a gray circle with a line through it.  Then I tried a external hd that i installed Mountain lion on and it does the same thing gray circle with line through it.  I didnt reformat the hd before I installed it but I wouldnt think that would matter.  I also tried using a snow leopard disc but it just gives me a kernal panic.  So what else can I try short of contacting apple.

You are using a Late 2012 Mac mini. The Late 2012 Mac mini uses a special Mountain Lion build different than the one that all other Macs use, so it's normal that you see a "no-entry" icon when you try to start from a Mountain Lion external disk.
To reinstall OS X, hold Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your Mac is starting, and reinstall OS X. As your brother bought that Mac mini, you will have to use your brother's Apple ID to reinstall OS X

  • Switching over from pc to mac and need help!

Ok so I plan on getting the new imac they are revealing today, but I'm not completely sure how to transfer all my music over from the pc and how the iPhone will sync as I've heard that the mac didn't recognize the iPhone after it had already been synced with a pc. I was just going to buy an external hd for the music and other things, but I really don't want to spend $100 plus for something that is only for transfer and some backup. I was considering burning cd's as well as I only have about a 250 song library and many blank cd's. Which choice or other option would be best? As for the not recognizing problem, is there something I have to do to like "format" it for mac and a feature I need to set up on the mac? Any help is appreciated.

    taymon21,
The iPhone will show up on both a Windows-based PC and a Mac without needing to be reformated. From the File Menu in iTunes you can choose to sync your purchased music back to the computer.
In addition the Apple Retail Stores offer a service to move your files over.
You can burn approximately 150-200 songs per CD as a Data CD in iTunes, and import from there if you would like. You can set the CD Burning preference in iTunes in Windows by going to the Edit Menu, Preferences, Advanced Tab, then the burning section. Choose the option for "Data CD"
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Install boot camp partition on Mac mini

How to install boot camp on a Mac mini? It ask for a bootable DVD which I have inserted in my Mac book pro, but it does not recognize the DVD. How can I install boot camp on a mini?

The Mac mini 2011 model does not have a DVD drive. It is possible to install Mac software over the network using another Macs DVD drive but this will not let you install Windows.
You need to either use an external DVD drive and connect it to the Mac mini, or for Windows 7 it is possible to copy the installer on to a USB memory stick, boot from the memory stick, and run the install from that.

  • Question about installing Snow Leopard on a Mac Mini

I'm in the process of installing Snow Leopard on a Mac Mini, but it's taking forever. It's been installing for well over 2 hours now and still indicates an hour left to install. Is this unusual? I'm getting a little concerned. What do I do if I have to cancel the install? Do I have to start from scratch again?

    How about this:
    1. If necessary start up from the external HD & verify that everything is working right & all your files are intact on it.
    2. Clone from the external to internal HD.
    3. Start up from the internal HD & verify as in #1 that everything works as expected.
    4. Install Snow Leopard on the external HD. If that completes successfully, restart from it & verify as above.
5.a. If that all checks out, clone the external back to the internal HD & you are done.
5.b. If that fails, you still have the internal HD with your working copy of 10.5.8 to use while you try to figure out what is going wrong.
The main benefit of this is you always have one working installation to fall back on no matter what happens.

  • I have acrobat pro on my lap top and recently installed acrobat pro on my Mac Mini, but the text recognition function is not working, does anyone have any advice on how to remedy this problem?

I have acrobat pro on my lap top and recently installed acrobat pro on my Mac Mini, but the text recognition function is not working, does anyone have any advice on how to remedy this problem?

On my laptop when I open up a pdf file and do a search for a particular
text phrase it prompts me to run a character analysis.  Whereas on my mac
mini, when I try to engage the same process it just says it couldn't find
the phrase and doesn't even try and run a character analysis. I tried
clicking on the tool bar and the recognize text tab but nothing there seems
    to do anything.
In trying to figure out the issue on my own I noticed one thing.  I run a
small law firm in St. Louis and I scan in all my files to which are
subsequently emailed to my outlook account where I will save them as pdf's
to their respective folders.  On my laptop when I open up an email from my
scanner I see the image of a acrobat document next to the attachment
paperclip symbol.  However, when I open up the same email on my mac mini I
notice instead of an acrobat file image it shows a Preview file image (the
program used to open up pdf's before I installed acrobat).
    Hope this helps!
    Sincerely,
    Jonathan McAllister

  • Can I install SSD and HDD on mac mini server?

hi. I want to buy a new mac mini server with two hdd. can I replace one hdd on my ssd and leave second hdd for files? And can I install OSX on my ssd and windows on my second hdd (divide it into 2 parts... for bootcamp and file storage)? thanks

    AGStudio.pro
as I know, it is impossibe to install ssd and hdd in this model
Thats incorrect, who told you that?    Ive installed a second 7mm drive in several Mac Minis and own 2 myself.  Typing on same now.
(you can put in a second 9.5mm drive rather than a 7mm drive, however it takes nimble fingers unless you want to completely remove the dual drive caddy from inside the mac Mini)
see youtube video on installing second drive in the Mini

    AGStudio.pro
       I don't need a server.
Then you dont need the mac mini server.    All you need is a standard mac mini.
The mac mini server is EXACTLY THE SAME as the standard Mac mini quad core mini,....except with a second drive and Server software.
All current Mac Mini have a dual slot for a SECOND DRIVE

  • I had a mac mini on snow leopard but it broke.I now have a macbook pro on leopard how do I upgrade using the disks from my old mac mini

can I use the osx disks from my old mac mini to upgrade my macbook pro so i can then get a further free upgrade

You can not use a DVD that shipped with one Mac to load on to another. To upgrade to Snow Leopard you will need to purchase the Snow Leopard DVD.

  • Can I install more memory on a mac mini

Can I install more memory on a mac mini?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course. You can upgrade the RAM always that you do not have a Late 2014 Mac mini (I am not sure that you can install more RAM, and if you can, it will void the warranty), and you can purchase more RAM at OWC or Crucial.

  • Would it be possible to install 1TB HD in a Mac Mini ?

    That´s my question:
Can I install 1TB HD in a Mac Mini? I haven´t read anything in Tech Specs
but I would like to do it if it were possible.
    Regards.
    Guillermo

No, it isn't possible to do it with a single drive; the largest 2.5-inch hard drive is 500 Gig.
But it is possible to remove the DVD drive in the newest Mini and replace it with a second 500 Gig hard drive ... for a total of 1 TB of internal storage.
    See this article:

A kit to do this was sold here:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Apple-Parts/Mac-mini-1-TB-Upgrade-Kit/IF107-070
Though frankly, just get a 1 or 2 TB firewire-800 external drive and that would be a lot easier.

  • OS 10.4  disk 2 install problem on mother inlaws mac mini

The installation OS 10.4 disk 1 went ok but disk 2 would not mount. Called apple care and they sent me a replacement for disk 2. When I mounted the replacement disk 2 it said to insert disk 1 to install "OSX and the bundled software". Are they telling me that I have to re-install the system I disk again to install the applications on disk 2?
    Ron

Ron, I have to tell you that your post isn't very clear.
Are the Install discs you have mentioned Mac mini-specific ?
I guess you are trying to install (re-install ?) bundled software w/out OS X, but in order to do this, you have to launch disk one and go through the options to select what you want to install. Then the Installer should prompt you to insert disc #2 and proceed.

  • Installing WIndows 7 onto a Mac Mini that does not have an internal optical drive.

Has anyone had any success in installing WIndows 7 onto a Mac Mini via Boot Camp using either a USB stick or an external SuperrDrive?

Option 1: Get a USB "Super Drive" and use it to install windoze.
Option 2: Use Parallels Desktop to run windoze.
Option 3: Wait for someone who knows more than I do to tell you how to do it using magic.

  • Installing just Compressor on a Mac Mini

    Hi!
i just upgraded to FCS2 and I am wondering if there is anyway I can install just Compressor on a Mac mini I bought specifically for rendering? I tried not to install it in the G5 i am using now but it seems to be bundled together with the other FCS apps.
I would appreciate any input. I am running Leopard, so I am wondering if do I even need to install Compressor on the Mac Mini and instead use QMaster to somehow configure it instead.
    I appreciate any input.
    Thank you.

Unless all of your machines was about as fast as your mini, I wouldn't do this. The slowest machine in your setup will be the bottleneck. Now, if the mini was the ONLY machine that's going to do encoding for you, go for it. Also, to save you some pain, don't try distributed rendering using FCP projects. It won't work. Use a quicktime movie.
