Capacity formulae and Scheduling formulae

Hi all,
  Can anyone tell me the difference between the formulae given in Capacity tab and Scheduling tab of work center. If i am right the schedulling formulae is used to get the schedulle dates and time when process orders are created...Why do we give different formulae for different capacity category and where is the output of these formulae can be seen or whatare its uses...?
Regards,
Joseph.

Dear Joseph,
In my understanding while assigning the formula for capacity it should only contain the base quantity, operation quantity and the
machining time for performing an operation.So without considering the no of spilts(no of capacity) the system should calculate the
capacity required to perform an order quantity.
In the case of scheduling normally we have to assign formula that allow for operation splits,
Machine * Operation quantity / Base quantity / Operation splits,so in the case of scheduling the system should consider all the
capacity available(no of machines) and propose the timings accordingly.
Eg: For producing one product the operation time is 8 hours and there are 2 such capacity (machines) available which are running
for 8 hours a day.So available capacity = 8 + 8 hours and now producing 2 such product the capacity req = 16 hours and now
for this the system should propose that on the same day we can produce these 2 quantity considering the no of capacities = 2.
Check and revert

    Dear
    Capacity Requirement Are those Which is used  For Operation And Calculate the Time with help of Dervied Formulas
    for instance i take an Example To Describe so that u get clear Picture
    Ex: Suppose i have machine Drilling u assume that Drilling machine as a one capacity under capacity catergory
    here to operate this i need to make my machine set up first then machine time i need to arrange a labour
    so total i required Setup Machine Labour so Here in sap we define a standard value key with all these combination and there we will assign formula for HOW Much to Produce so on...... and in turn it is assigned to control key to perform all the Actions.....
    Scheduling : Scheduling is Nothing but to sechedule Right time at Right job This helps in shop floor to over come overload on machines.scheduling used in
    scheduling for Production orders
    scheduling for Planned Orders
    scheduling for Plant maintainence Order
    Configuration :
    1. Capacity Requirenemnt ;
    SPRO>>>production >>> capacity requirement >>>> Define capacity catergory
    2.Capcity planner
    3.Define parameters OP7B
    4.Assign this to OPCM
    Scehduling
    1. go to OPU3

    Dear Hemamashewararao,
    Welcome to SDN !
    As per rules you need to raise only one query as per one thread
    Coming to your first query
    As per business requirement formula will be defined
    The most important difference between Capacity formula and scheduling formula
    In SPRO
    for scheduling formula tick mark will be marked for scheduling where as for capacity option  tick mark will not ticked
    For capacity formula tick mark will be marked for option capacity where as for scheduling option tick mark will not ticked
    Currently i am not in front of SAP so i couldn't give you path
    Good Luck !!!

  • Different tabs and formula in workcenter for capacity and scheduling.

    Dear All,
    I wanted to have a logical explanation for why we use different formula for capacity req calculation and scheduling.
    why we need 2 tabs for this in work center.
    As per Std SAP formula, except the tick of capacity generation and allowed for scheduling in customizing.. rest is same.
    when we level the capacity also ultimately we are scheduling the operation or order.
    Thanks

    Raghu,
    The amount of capacity consumed is not always the same as the schedule.  You have to allow for the times when the formulae are different.
    For instance, consider the case when you have multiple capacities, and you practice order splitting.  The formula for capacity might be Machine time * operation quantity / base quantity, but the formula for scheduling might be Machine time * operation quantity  / base quantity / number of splits.

  • Regarding workcenter capacity and scheduling

    Hi Experts,
                     I have created a workcentre and maintained all formula's for each activity in the workcentre.Now what I want is that, while confirming the activity , If workcentre gets overloaded beyond tolerance limit then it must issue a warning message and wont allow us to confirm that much activity.
    Case 2:
             If capacity is overloaded then the timeframe also should mave accordingly as automatic scheduling.
    your valuable suggestion would be highly appreciated
    Regards
    Ashutosh Saraf

    Hi,
    Work center capacity and activity confirmation both are different entities and this is what I guess. Please correct me if wrong.
    Let me put it this way...
    Work force is assigned at work center level which let you know the total capacity being maintained at referenced work center. If some one asked me about what is the capacity of work center A, then my reply is 64 hours/day (10 persons with 8 hrs each and performace 80%). Thats how we derive the capacity of WC.
    Now coming to Activity confirmation: for example you have planned hours of 100 on NWA and keep confirming periodically. When you cross the limit of planned 100 hours system gives a warning that activity is already confirmed (I mean reached 100% of planned work) but still allow you confirm beyond planned hours.
    In combined view of WC and NWA, system never gives any kind of warning message even if you going beyond the planned hours on NWA.
    As Mahendra pointed out, capacity evaluation and levelling being done manually and there is no automated process available unless you have developed program which takes care off.
    Case2: Capacitiy overloaded or underloaded, capacity levelling to be performed basing on available capacity at work center level by manually.
    The time frame adjustment (I assume you are talking about automatic scheduling), if activity confirmation is less than the planned distributed value, whenever system schedules automatically and let you know ETC (Expected time of completion). for that you have to select the automatic scheduling check box at NWA.

  • Machine capacity planning and efficency

    Dear Guru,
    I have number of machines and i want there individual capacity and efficency can we see that by any report or any tcode to see all capacity of machine.What is capacity leveling.
    Is thee any configuration for capacity planning.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi, the following configuration steps involved in the capacity planning: SPRO --> IMG --> PRODUCTION --> CAPACITY REQUIREMENT PLANNING Capacity Requirements Planning: 1) Define time units 2) Define Capacity Category 3) Set up Capacity Planner. 4) Define parameters 5) Define Standard value key. 6) Define Move time matrix. 7) Define Setup matrix. 8) Define Control Key. 9) Define Shift Sequence. 10) Define Key for performance efficiency rate. 11) Define Formula parameters. 12) Specify Scheduling type. 13) Set up Production scheduler group 14) Select Automatically. 15) Define Scheduling parameters for Production orders 16) Define Scheduling parameters for networks. 17) Define Reduction Strategies planned/ production orders. 18) Define Reduction Strategies for network/process orders. 19) Define Control Profile. 20) Define Selection profile. 21) Define time profile. 22) Define Evaluation profile. 23) Define Strategy Profile. You can follow these above configuration steps in capacity planning Yes you need to active your all work center for the finite scheduling at the bottom of capacity view. Use all standard SAP configurations, Capacity Leveling Profile. Define time profile in OPD2. Define the strategy profile in OPDB Define the Overall profiles in OPD0. Then only you need to to active your all work center for the finite scheduling at the bottom of capacity view in work center.(CR02) Then run MRP with scheduling- 2 Lead time scheduling and capacity planning.(MD02) You will get your capacity requirement in CM01, or CM25/CM21. In rem you can use MF50. -

  • Mant. orders, Capacity load and material shortage messages on IP10 and IP30

    Hi Experts,
    In customizing, If we have marked on capacity and material checks for planned work orders (Order type PM02) and maintained the finite scheduling check in work center then system only shows capacity overload message while scheduling on IP10, doesn't show any message for material shortage and finally system show both messages on work order level when we try to release that order.
    On other end system doesn't show any message (capacity overload and material shortage messages) while scheduling by IP30 (Deadline monitoring) and show the same behavior as discussed above upon release.
    Can anybody tell me how would I show the above missing messages on IP10 and IP30?
    After creation of maintenance orders system maintaining the system status NTUP (dates are not updated) what does it meant?
    Regards,

    Have a look at OIOI transaction for "order create" status and make sure to select the "check material on save" check-box for Material availability to be triggered on save.
    NTUP means that the dates haven't been updated (Scheduling hasn't been done for the order).Make sure to select Automatic scheduling check box for the plant and order type in transaction OPU7 if you would like scheduling to be performed automatically on Save of the order.

  • Capacity planning and levelling

    Hi,
    My client has around 8 different production areas and I have created 8 different order types,production schedulers,capacity planner groups and production scheduling profiles for the same. I have also created a list profile,selection profile, graphical profile, optional profile and an overall profile with my understanding.
    1. I want to see for a given production area, In the morning, the user has to take the list of work centres pertaining to his area and fix priorities. In case he wants to move certain orders to next day and want to insert new orders in place of that, how to do this?
    2. How can I utilise the feature of capacity planning, to evaluate my capacity requirements for new projects?
    3. I want the step by step instructions for doing the capacity levelling both in graphical/tabular forms. Also please explain the purpose of different profiles used for capacity planning like selection,option,list etc.
    Regards,
    Sridharan M

    Dear
    Capacity planning comprises the following partial components:
    Capacity Evaluation
    In the capacity evaluation, available capacity and capacity requirements are determined and compared with each other in lists or graphics.
    You can use capacity evaluations to analyze capacity loads in your company.
    Capacity leveling
    The objectives of capacity leveling are:
    1.     Optimal capacity commitment
    2.     Selection of appropriate resources
    3.     In most applications, you can use two types of planning table (graphical and tabular versions) to display the capacity situation and to carry out capacity leveling.
    4.     In some applications such as Repetitive Manufacturing (PP-REM) or Sales and Operations Planning (PP-SOP), there are application-specific planning tables for capacity leveling.
    The objectives of capacity leveling include:
    u2022     Leveling overloads and under loads at work centers
    u2022     Achieving optimum commitment of machines and production lines
    u2022     Selection of appropriate resources
    Dispatching Operations
    Dispatching operations is the main function of capacity leveling. Operations are dispatched to the time when there is sufficient capacity for them to be executed. You can also dispatch sub-operations and work elements.

  • Overdelivery % ignores while confirmation with capacity category and splits

    Dear all,
    System ignores Over-delivery % while confirmation with capacity category and splits only.
    Note:
    1.Error message set for overdelivery in OPK4.
    2.Check box for Unlimited Overdelivery in material master(Work Scheduling View) as well as in the production order is OFF.

    Hi,
    Set in OPK4=>
    1)Overdelivery =  Error when overdelivery tollerance is exceed.
    Set in material MM02= in Work scheduling
    1)Maintian Underdelivery Limit and Overdelivery Limit
    2)Remove Tick of Indicator: Unlimited (Indicator: Unlimited Overdelivery Allowed)
    Overdelivery tolerance limit=> Percent by which the quantity that is posted to goods receipt may exceed the production order quantity.
    Indicator: Unlimited Overdelivery Allowed=> Indicator that specifies whether the quantity actually delivered may infinitely exceed the required production order quantity.

  • Shift wise planning and scheduling

    Dear All,
    Here we have a scenario in which we have to do shift wise planning and scheduling.
    The shift is not fixed.
    It can be 1 shift on particular day and it might be 2 shifts another day. They will plan for this many hours per day for future.
    The scheduling should be done for this many hours which inturn is as many shifts. The working hours per day is not fixed as well. It totally depends on the requirement. So the planning and scheduling should happen based on hour basis and will be different for each day. I need your inputs for mapping this scenario.

    Balaji,
    You have not given any meaningful requirements, therefore it is impossible for me to make suggestions.  What you have said so far implies total randomness.  If all the events are random, there is no planning, only tracking.
    Exactly what do you mean when you say 'planning'?  Material planning in ERP does not consider shift sequences/timings/schedules.  Capacity planning, where work schedules are managed, does consider shift type data, but only takes place only after the orders have been established.
    Scheduling is done based on Work Centers.  A work center can represent one or more machines, one or more people, or a combination of the two.  Work centers can have shifts.  The number of shifts can vary over time.  The shifts can have various working schedules.  The shift working schedules can vary over time.
    I suggest that you describe a single specific scenario you would like to discuss.  Perhaps then the forum can offer some suggestions.

    1. I've created a profile say XXXX for 14 days JIT and 6 months Forecast.And I maintain the same on Scheduling Agreement additional data.
    2.I'm creating delivery schedule respect ot Scheduling agrrement.
    3. I maintain the aggregation horiozon in creation profile as 10 days daily aggregation for JIT and 120 days for monthly aggregation for forecast.
    4.I run MRP for the header material and I maintain the necessary SA number in Source list.
    5. After MRP run I'm not getting the respective schedule lines for JIT and Forecast.

  • Creating a job and scheduling a job error in OEM

    Hi, Everyone,
    I am trying to create and schedule a job thru OEM. In the the pl/sql block provide i have given my code like this
    begin
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON;
    SPOOL C:\RFV_PROFILE_REPORT.LOG APPEND;
    SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'DD/MM/YY HH24:MI:SS') FROM DUAL;
    EXEC PAC_RFV_PROFILE_REPORT.CALL_ALL (200910);
    SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'DD/MM/YY HH24:MI:SS') FROM DUAL;
    SPOOL OFF;
    end;
    i have created the job and scheduled it but i am getting this error:
    Error # 6550
    Details ORA-06550: line 2, column 5: PL/SQL: ORA-00922: missing or invalid option ORA-06550: line 2, column 1: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored ORA-06550: line 3, column 7: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "C" when expecting one of the following: := . ( @ % ;
    could anyone pls help as this is very urgent.
    Thanks in advance

    Ah, the problem is you are confusing SQLPlus commands with PL/SQL.
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON; -- This is a SQLPlus command, not necessary here.
    SPOOL C:\RFV_PROFILE_REPORT.LOG APPEND; -- This is a SQLPlus command, in PL/SQL to write out to a file you will need to call the UTL_FILE package to open a file for writing to. Except that the file you write to will appear on the database server, not your workstation, when the scheduled job runs.
    SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'DD/MM/YY HH24:MI:SS') FROM DUAL; -- In PL/SQL you need to SELECT columns INTO variables FROM tables. But in fact I guess you want to write the time to file using UTL_FILE again. However, you don't really need to do this, since scheduler will log the start time and run duration itself.
    EXEC PAC_RFV_PROFILE_REPORT.CALL_ALL (200910); -- This is the SQLPlus equivalent of the PL/SQL command:
    BEGIN
    PAC_RFV_PROFILE_REPORT.CALL_ALL (200910);
    END;
    SPOOL OFF; -- This is a SQLPlus command, not necessary here.
    So to summarise, all you really need is:
    BEGIN
    PAC_RFV_PROFILE_REPORT.CALL_ALL (200910);
    END;
    And the scheduled job will log the start time and duration in the database, which you can find here:
    SELECT * FROM USER_SCHEDULER_JOB_RUN_DETAILS

    Later they will change the terms of payment in vendor master and the same has to picked up in PO automatically without changing the PO.
    Please let me know if there is any standard settings available or any user exit i have to apply.

    Hi,
    If you have multiple payment term in one vendor then you can not put payment terms in vendor master.
    You put payment terms in at the time of P.O.
