Capacity Planning - Set-up

Hi All,
This is my 1st time with full fledged Cap Planning in SAP. I've got the concept going thru the documentation. What I'm trying to understand is, simple steps on how this can be set-up in the system.
Can somebody help me with steps on setting this up? I've work centers (around 25% of them) that are known for capacity bottlenecks. They cater to MTS & MTO production. Those lines handled with REM are pretty straight forward for cap plng.
Thanks in advance

Dear Andy ,
There are three areas where you need to concentrate to set up capacity planning in the SAP system
1. Settings for Available Capacity
2. Setting for Capacity requirements
3. Settings for Capacity evaluation and levelling

  • Setting needed for Capacity Planning.

    Hi PP Gurus,
I want to know what setting we have to do for capacity planning.
    what I know is:
    1. W/C should be set for finite scheduling.
    2. In scheduling parameters for process order tick "Generate capacity Requirement".
This both setting are made in my scenario, but it is'nt loading the work center fot that week.
    Any other setting nedded?
    Thanks, in advance.

    Dear ,
You need to have following set up at basic level frist before you perfomr the capacity requirement planning  :
1.In OPKP-Define Production Scheduling parameter -Availability check -Confirm Capacity and also Finite Scheduling chekc box ticked .
2.In OPU3/OPU5-Define Scheduling Parametesr -you should mark the following
1.Automatic Scheduling check box should be marked
2.Scheduling Log check box should be marked -generate in case there is a scheduling error due to capacity over load .
3.Scedulinga and Generate Capcity should be ticked .
3.In OPJK Imaintain check capacity with SAPSFCG013 overall profile and set indicator -1 -Release Order -by user decision if capacity is insufficient
4.Work Center - Define the capcity planner group, activate checkbox Relevant for Finite sceduling,on the capacity header define the shift timings, break timings and unit of measure,no of individual capaity, enter formula for scheduling in capacity view.
5.Routing - enter the values for the standard values. Use control key with scheduling and CRP activated .
    6. OPD0 and have the following set up  : Overall profile : SFAPSFC015 --Inside the over all profile I have the following set up
1.Selection Profile -SAPSFCS013 SFC: Order view, standard overview
    2.Control Profile : SAP___C004 : Gen Capacity Availability Check for 1.5 months
    3.Time Profile : SAP___Z006 : Gen Capacity Availability Check for 1.5 months
    4.Evalution Profile : SAPSFCA013 : Gen Capacity Availability Chek =3.0D
    5.Strategy Profile : SAPSFCVER1-Gen Capacity availability Check
    6.Period Profile : SAP___P001 -Weekly period
    7.List Profile : SAPSFCI001-Production Planing
Check all of them in place .Then you can go ahead with Capacity Req.Planning -Evalution and Leveling -CM21/CM22/CM05/CM07  etc.

  • Selection profile sets for capacity planning

    Hi,
Could you please explain me in details about different sets in selection profiles configuration (work center set, order set, capacity category set, initial set) thorugh OPA2  and how they are related to sets in OPD1 configuration (Object, filter sets).
Does these sets will effect capacity availability check calculations or they only for different display options for user.
Please provide if there is any detailed document available since I have a problem where CM01 list is not matching with overall profile used for capacity availability check while creating orders.

run t-code OPD0 and make adjustment for your overall profile (change a control profile)

  • Machine capacity planning and efficency

    Dear Guru,
I have number of machines and i want there individual capacity and efficency can we see that by any report or any tcode to see all capacity of machine. What is capacity leveling.
Is thee any configuration for capacity planning.
    Thanks in advance

Hi, the following configuration steps involved in the capacity planning: SPRO --> IMG --> PRODUCTION --> CAPACITY REQUIREMENT PLANNING Capacity Requirements Planning: 1) Define time units 2) Define Capacity Category 3) Set up Capacity Planner. 4) Define parameters 5) Define Standard value key. 6) Define Move time matrix. 7) Define Setup matrix. 8) Define Control Key. 9) Define Shift Sequence. 10) Define Key for performance efficiency rate. 11) Define Formula parameters. 12) Specify Scheduling type. 13) Set up Production scheduler group 14) Select Automatically. 15) Define Scheduling parameters for Production orders 16) Define Scheduling parameters for networks. 17) Define Reduction Strategies planned/ production orders. 18) Define Reduction Strategies for network/process orders. 19) Define Control Profile. 20) Define Selection profile. 21) Define time profile. 22) Define Evaluation profile. 23) Define Strategy Profile. Dear ,
To answer the question for Capacity requirement planning on sales order I would say that MRP does  only materials planning based on demand and reciept  but never does Capacity Requirement Plannig .MRP generates Planned Order  and susequently , production order can be genreted and farther you can carry out capacity requirement planning based on the work cente available capacity , requirement and load for those MTO orders .
But there are SAP business suit like APO-SNP APO PPDS which carriy our details scheduleing and caapcity check based on the demand situation : Sales Order ,Independent Order  and does capcaity vaialbality chek for those demands while planning .
Now , here is the answer of your question :
    1) Can Capacities are Scheduled as per priority given in SO automatically. : Not possible  through  SAP MRP but in APO-PPDS, APO-SNP-CTM , Herustic model .
    2) Can revised availability dates will be reflected in SO. : It can be reflected as per the ATP chekc , Replishmenet Lead  Time and re-scheduling horizon maintained in OPPQ-Carry all overall plant parametres.
    3) Which reports will be useful for understanding consolidated availability date of material for given sales order/s. : You can check through MD04/MD05 or in sales order -Availaibility check -Schedule Line -Availaibility date .
Hope your are clear about the requirememt .

  • Capacity planning for a 2 million hits / day site

    Hi,
I am doing a feasibility study for a 2 million hits per day
    e-commerce site.
We are looking at various vendors but would prefer an
    Oracle solution.
    One option I am looking
at is a three-tier server architecture with instances of
Oracle Application server running on one set
of machines and instances of Oracle 8/8i running on a second
    set of machines.
Macromedia generated HTML would be auto-translated to PL/SQL
cartridges to generate the relevant WRBXs.
Has anyone any experience of the performance issues /
robustness of this type of large-scale
    development.
In particular, I am looking for some hard numbers / capacity
    planning model on:
    Number of instances of Application Server;
Number / type of Application Server boxes - SpecInt / Flt and
    memory;
    Number of instances of RDBMS / parallel Oracle;
Number / type of RDBMS boxes - SpecInt / Flt and memory; and
    External communications bandwidth.
Any advice, personal anecdotes, recommended sites, or
    literature references much appreciated.

    Hi,
    1. Do cross forest authentication Go through Global Catalog?
Yes, cross-forest authentication relies on Global Catalogs of both forests.
    2.  Do Global catalogue cache ad object info if they are in different Forest. If not, how does the authentication request flow across the forest?
GC doesn’t cache information for objects from another forest. However, once a user has been authenticated and authorized, its service ticket remains (on the local machine) for a while before it logs off. The authentication request
is first received by the local DC, then GC, when GC couldn’t find a match in its own forest, it checks its database for trust information, if there is a name suffix matched, the authentication request is passed to the corresponding forest.
    3. Is this calculation still the same when considering cross forest trusts?
Yes, establishing forest trust doesn’t consume much more space, because GC doesn’t store information of another forest.
    4. Do we need to consider any other memory requirements in a cross forest trust environment?
Not really, as I mentioned above.

  • Capacity Planning for External Procurement Material

Hi, I have the following requirements.
MRP Scheduling is getting executed material level (material no, plant) with scheduling type 2 which means lead time scheduling using MD02 Transaction Code. This is works fine for the Inhouse Product. In order to achieve lead time the functional team has maintained the necessary routing/workcenter configs.
The business needs the same functionality "Capacity requirements calculation" for the external procurement material. Business is willing to maintain routing/workcenter config.
Currently standard program (MD02) is not considering the Capacity planning for the external Procurement material.
Could you please suggest is it can be controlled through programming.
Kindly suggest the function modules for Capacity Planning - materialwise, plantwise.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks
    Giri

    Hi Giri
I think the requirement is not mentioned clearly. Capacity is required only if the material is assembled/produced in house.
Anyway try this. Set the Procurement type to X in the MRP views in material master. You might have to define your custom material type so that it does not force the procurement type to F. Try the feature called "Quota arrangement". The idea is to define the material in such a way that it can be procured externally or produced in house. With quota arrangement you can say what % has to be bought and what % to be produced in house. If it is produced in house then you can have capacity requirements.

  • Capacity planning issue

    Dear all
My customer has two actor types: project managers PM and 7 work center managers WCM, with strong antithesis: PM looks at project quality and productivity; WCM looks at his resources capacity planning.
Every PM defines wbs basic start / finish dates with appropriate, large and comfortable time lag. Into this time lag, during the capacity planning, the WCMs can set definitive activity start / finish dates, by their needs (and with user status communicates to PM the happened choice) .
The generic project is composed of more wbs elements and 7 networks: all activities of a generic network are assigned to only one work center. Every lowest wbs element has only one activity.
Every PM plans dates (large and comfortable) and efforts on network activities; schedules via bottom up and copies wbs scheduled dates on basic dates. After, CP sets the top down scenario and save the project. In IMG, network profile, the type of checking during top-down time scheduling is u201CEu201D:  exit with error (transaction code OPUU).
Every WCM using transaction code CM01 doesnu2019t see the WBS constrains. So doesnu2019t know the wbs dates range. Moreover the WCMs donu2019t like a dashboard like CM01 because it is not user friendly. They prefer a graphical dashboard.
My personal idea to resolve this issue is use transaction code CM21 or similar with the display of wbs time lag. Is it possible?
Is there anyone who could help me, please? I am also interested in other technical solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Salvo50

    Venky,
    1) Sales order when enter in the system can perform the capacity availability check ?
Not in ECC/R/3.  However, in APO this is possible.
    2) The delivery dates & confirmation in the sales order is on what basis?
Depends on how you have configured your availability check.  There are a number of possibilities.  Many companies confirm MTS orders to Total Replenishment Lead time in the Material master.  Other companies leave the orders unconfirmed until Planning has created supply elements (production orders).
As far as the delivery date is concerned, it can also start with the confirmed material availability date as calculated by ATP, and then additionally schedule in the warehouse pick-pack-load times, and route transit time (the time it takes to move the shipment from your loading dock to the customer's location.
In 'Assemble to order' (a special version of Make To Order) it is possible to confirm to the scheduling time of the supporting Finished goods production orders combined with the availability of the components of the FG production order.
In R/3, some companies will confirm the MTS sales order to a date that is farther into the future than the actual estimated process time including capacity backlog.  Then, they run MRP to create planned orders.  Then, they run Capacity leveling.  Then, they run BackOrderProcessing (rescheduling) of the sales orders to re-confirm to the planned or production orders that have been capacity leveled.  In this way, Sales orders are indirectly confirmed to capacity.
Consult with your local SD and PP ATP experts to discover the options available.

  • Plant Maintenance: Capacity planning CM01/ CM07

    Hi
In capacity planning CM01, the standard sap shows all the maintenance orders which have system status created. But we would like to look at onlly the released pm order in the standard overview list and detailed capacity list. Please let me know if there is way we can configure it.
    Thanks

    Hi Nayan202,
You could configure desired "selection set" T.code "CSM1" and then assign this to appropriate "Selection Profile" under initial set.

  • Maintaining work center list in Capacity Planning: Selection List in CM01

    Hi,
Where can find the config route in SPRO for maintain work center into the Capacity Planning: Selection List in CM01?
    Thanks a lot!
    Min

    Mandy,
Couple of combinations you should check,
    1. First try to identify "Selection Profile" which is used. In "CM01" go to menu Planning->Profiles->Selection Profile.
2.Check the defination of this profile using transaction "OPA2". Here you need to look for "Work center Set" which is assigned.
    3. Now look at the defination of the workcenter set using transaction "CMS3", here is were we define as how the list is to be fetched.
Hope this helps....Reward your points and close the thread if so,

    Dear
I assume that you have Capacity Requirement Planning set up in place .
You can check the Work Centre capacity overload  or capacity analsisy in CM05/CM01 day wise /week wise all those set up .
Please enter work centre , plant code -Hit standrad view -goto general option -setting -select periods Day .By default it will come  as week .Or you can execute and then choose Profile -Option Profile -Select SAPB010 day wise .Like wise you can analise the caapctiy situation .
Capacity level in spossble throuh CM21-Work Centre wise Graphaical View -Select the operationj against planned order -Hit dispatch button at the top -if you have available capacity on the required date , time , then those operation will be dispatched and also you will recieve the Scehduling Log.
I think you should try this frist in sandbox to simulate the business requirement based on your CRP set up.
You can also use call function  : CBP_EXC_WC_CAPACITY_REQUEST'  for   available capacity of a work center and use CY01_DISPATCHING_OPR_DATES_CHK  for dispatch

  • Bandwith Capacity Planning for 100 user SSL VPN Facility

What are things we should conisde while doing the  bandwidth capacity planning for SSL VPN Facility for 100 users  ?

    Hi Surya,
This is not an easy question, since there are so many things to consider that I may miss some of them.
1- In case you are planning to use an ASA, check this to find the ideal throughput for you:
             Compare Models
2- What type of traffic? TCP or UDP?
         If TCP
Make sure you avoid fragmentation, adjust the MSS value if necessary.
         If UDP
If fragmentation must happen, then set the DF bit to clear to allow it.
3- Make sure the clients always negotiate DTLS (which is by default).
As mentioned in the document above:
"Maximum throughput measured under ideal test conditions.
VPN throughput and sessions count depend on the ASA device configuration and VPN traffic patterns. These elements should be taken into consideration as part of your capacity planning."
    Thanks.

Please check "scheduling " and "Generate capacity req" check box has beeb acitvated under one scheduling level for order type PE/ plant comibination at OPU5.
    2. You must have created workcenter for the production line,
    3. you must enter the workcenter in the prodution version in MRP view.
    4. you must have created any routing with workcenter.
5.you must enter the routing, to the scheduling level (defiend at OPU5) in the production version.
    5. Maintain scheduling data in front screen of the planning table (MF50)
In Planning Table (MF50) Scheduling Tap Select the following
1.Rate based Planning (Detailed planning and sequencing also possible)
2.Tick Capacity planning, which Controls that capacity planning is carried out for the production line in background mode when accessing the run schedule quantities (planning table).

  • Operations are not getting despatched in capacity planning table

    Hi Experts,
I am using capacity planning table (Graphical) to level the capacities and sequence the process orders. The start date of my orders are very well in future and sufficient capacities also is available in resources. But when I go to CM25 and select one order and click on despatch, system is not despatching it. This is the case for almost all the overall profiles.
The surprising factor is, this function was working fine earlier without any issues. I havent done any changes in configs which will affect capacity planning.
What can be the reason for this? Any thoughts please?.
One more thing. Is there any option to avoid the capacity planning step if Iam using R/3 and manage it by some other way?
    Appreciate your earlier reply

Most likely you didnt define the rowsource key properly. Please look under <install>/errors folder for any file there.
Also, please read the documentation. There is information there about how to troubleshoot a loading problem. Please always read the documentation and we would appreciate feedback on the documentation.
