Caption and field alignment

Is it possible to have the caption aligned one way and the field aligned another?
I have a text field, and I want the caption to be aligned flush right and the text to be aligned flush left.

Yes that is controlled in the Paragraph palette. It is probably off so you can activate it under the Window menu. You can toggle between the caption and the value by clicking on this button

  • Caption and Value Alignment!

I am having the hardest time getting the Caption and Value to share the same Y axis. It seems that no matter what I do..the values are not on the same line! Has anyone seen this problem before and how do I fix it!!!
Also, just when I think I have fixed it and I test it on another computer with the same version the alignment is off again!
    HELP!!
    Thanks in Advance!

Just searched for this hoping to find a solution..
This is such a waste of time!! Caption is never aligned to the value..
and it also seems impossible to align different types of fields (date or radiobutton with a text field.. Also, if you change the appearence of a field from underlined to 'none' or vice versa, the caption moves!!

  • Hiding a caption and field based on context condition

    Hi,
I have what should be a simple problem, but I'm not sure if what I'm doing is the correct way to solve it.
I have a telephone number of a user master being output, and if there is an extension number I want to output that as well, separated by ext
In the context node I have put a condition on the Extension field (GS_HEADER-FSABE-TEL_EXTENS1 not equals INITIAL), and debugging the code of the function module shows that %OUTPUT is not being called for the Extension field in the layout as expected.
The Extension field in the layout is bound to the Extension field in the context, and the caption is set as "Ext"
Therefore I either want to output
    Telephone: 01234 567890 ext 1234
    or
    Telephone: 01234 567890
It's not working though, as I still get ext printing even when there is no Extension - have I done something wrong or is this not the correct way to go about this?
    Thanks,
    Vindaloo

Thanks very much, this has solved the problem
In the layout:ready event for the extension field I have put the following Javascript:
// Hide the Telephone Extension caption & value if it is not populated
    if (this.rawValue == null) {
      this.presence = "hidden";
I was under the misapprehension that simply putting a condition onto the field in the context would stop it being passed to the form and rendered.
The layout:ready event seems to be the best place to put this code.  However, the adobe help for this event is confusing as it contains the following:
Initiates after the form design and data are merged, the form exists, and the form's layout is applied. At this time, the finished form has not been rendered; therefore, a calculation or script set to run on this event could modify the layout before the form is rendered.
This is fine and fits in with what I have.  It then goes on to say:
Note: Scripts that fire on layout:ready should not do anything that would cause the layout of the form to change. For example, this would include anything involving subforms or tables that grow or shrink, adding fragments dynamically at run time, adding or removing subform instances, and toggling the presence setting of an object between hidden and visible.
This seems to be in direct conflict with the previous statement, regarding modifying the layout.

  • ACDSee Caption and Aperture

I use both Aperture and ACDSee fro Mac. When I enter iptc caption info in ACDSee first, it shows up nicely in Aperture. However, if I enter iptc caption info in Aperture first, it does not show up in ACDSee. Keywords work fine between both programs.
Yes, I "write iptc metadata to master" and I import photos into Aperture using referenced files.

  • Captions and Reorganizing Photos

My wife uses Adobe PSE 4 on her Windows XP laptop and won't switch to the PSE 9 software I bought her.  She has 12,000+ photos in her Organizer catalog, and the underlying files are scattered all over two hard drive partitions.  Many of them are duplicated (the thumbnails and sometimes the files themselves).  Some thumbnails are disconnected and I can't find the files when I try to reconnect them.  Many of them also have Captions that she has painstakingly added over the last 8 years.  Because her drives are almost full, and she is annoyed with all the dupes, but doesn't want to lose her Captions, I have been tasked with getting everything back in order, including getting all the photo files themselves located in a high level directory (folder location).
I created a new "master" directory and started locating/moving some photo files there.  I figured out that after I move them, PSE 4 will reconnect them, with captions, if I select the thumbnails in Organizer and then use Update Thumbnails from the right-click context menu.  However, that's extremely time consuming and unreliable, because once I've moved a batch of files (in Windows Explorer), I have trouble finding them in Organizer photo bin to work with them, and the "batches" of files I've moved are not physically adjacent to each other (by date or whatever) in the Organizer photo bin.  Also, Organizer wants to import files into the new "Watched" master folder location (which may or may not be duplicates, or new files that were never catalogued to begin with).
Is there a faster and easier way to do these basic tasks?:
    1. Ensure that the captions stay with the photo files (preferably as part of each file's metadata in case Adobe blows up or loses its PSE catalog links).
    2. Move the photo files in Windows Explorer as desired (I'm can handle that part).
    3. Recatalog/reconnect the files, making SURE that I don't lose the Captions.  Or the redating she did on many of them when the camera date wasn't set right.
    4. Elimate the duplicate files, but only those WITHOUT Captions, so that I don'l lose those WITH Captions.
Yeah, I know this is a pretty big mess, but I've spent hours already researching and trying to do this project.  If there's a better way to do this by upgrading to PSE 9 or a later version, I could do that, but it needs to run reliably on an older laptop with Win XP, and the biggest thing is that if I lose her Captions (or the date changes she's made when the camera had the wrong date), I'm toast.
If there's a way to write the Captions and Dates established in the PSE catalog into each file's metadata, then re-extract that into a completely new catalogue, I could do that, too, perhaps, as a way of getting my arms around this.  That assumes PSE 4 can overwrite the metadata first, then retrieve those fields from the files into the new catalog (but if it can, I have no idea how to do that).
Thanks for any strategy and tips.

You can move the photos within the PSE4 Organizer (in Folder Location View, Alt-Ctrl-3) and then you don't have to reconnect.
You can write the captions to the photos files, for the photos that are connected, via File->Write Tags ...
There are a gazillion threads here on how to find duplicates, I suggest you search for them.
Upgrading to PSE9 won't fix the mess. Starting a new catalog will cause loss of captions and other metadata for disconnected photos. And if you have reconnected the photos, you don't need a new catalog; it won't buy you anything.
Once finished, I suggest you adopt policies that don't cause duplicates, and don't cause dis-connected photos, and that don't wind up with photos all over the hard disk. Not hard to do.

  • Field Symbols, Field String, and Field Group.

    Hi,
Can you differentiate between filed symbols, field strings and field groups,
    With regards,
    Bharath Mohan B

    Hi,
    Field Symbols
Field symbols are placeholders or symbolic names for other fields. They do not physically reserve space for a field, but point to its contents. A field symbol cam point to any data object. The data object to which a field symbol points is assigned to it after it has been declared in the program.
Whenever you address a field symbol in a program, you are addressing the field that is assigned to the field symbol. After successful assignment, there is no difference in ABAP whether you reference the field symbol or the field itself. You must assign a field to each field symbol before you can address the latter in programs.
Field symbols are similar to dereferenced pointers in C (that is, pointers to which the content operator * is applied). However, the only real equivalent of pointers in ABAP, that is, variables that contain a memory address (reference) and that can be used without the contents operator, are reference variables in ABAP Objects.
All operations programmed with field symbols are applied to the field assigned to it. For example, a MOVE statement between two field symbols moves the contents of the field assigned to the first field symbol to the field assigned to the second field symbol. The field symbols themselves point to the same fields after the MOVE statement as they did before.
You can create field symbols either without or with type specifications. If you do not specify a type, the field symbol inherits all of the technical attributes of the field assigned to it. If you do specify a type, the system checks the compatibility of the field symbol and the field you are assigning to it during the ASSIGN statement.
Field symbols provide greater flexibility when you address data objects:
If you want to process sections of fields, you can specify the offset and length of the field dynamically.
You can assign one field symbol to another, which allows you to address parts of fields.
Assignments to field symbols may extend beyond field boundaries. This allows you to address regular sequences of fields in memory efficiently.
You can also force a field symbol to take different technical attributes from those of the field assigned to it.
The flexibility of field symbols provides elegant solutions to certain problems. On the other hand, it does mean that errors can easily occur. Since fields are not assigned to field symbols until runtime, the effectiveness of syntax and security checks is very limited for operations involving field symbols. This can lead to runtime errors or incorrect data assignments.
While runtime errors indicate an obvious problem, incorrect data assignments are dangerous because they can be very difficult to detect. For this reason, you should only use field symbols if you cannot achieve the same result using other ABAP statements.
For example, you may want to process part of a string where the offset and length depend on the contents of the field. You could use field symbols in this case. However, since the MOVE statement also supports variable offset and length specifications, you should use it instead. The MOVE statement (with your own auxiliary variables if required) is much safer than using field symbols, since it cannot address memory beyond the boundary of a field. However, field symbols may improve performance in some cases.

    8. ... STRUCTURE s DEFAULT wa
The syntax check performed in an ABAP Objects context is stricter than in other ABAP areas. See Cannot Use Untyped Field Symbols ad Cannot Use Field Symbols as Components of Classes.
    Effect
This statement declares a symbolic field called <fs>. At runtime, you can assign a concrete field to the field symbol using ASSIGN. All operations performed with the field symbol then directly affect the field assigned to it.
You can only use one of the additions.
    Example
Output aircraft type from the table SFLIGHT using a field symbol:
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <PT> TYPE ANY.
    DATA SFLIGHT_WA TYPE SFLIGHT.
    ASSIGN SFLIGHT_WA-PLANETYPE TO <PT>.
    WRITE <PT>.

    ... TYPE LINE OF type
    Addition 5
    ... LIKE s
    Addition 6
    ... LIKE LINE OF s
    Addition 7
    ... TYPE tabkind
    Effect
You can define the type of the field symbol using additions 2 to 7 (just as you can for FORM parameters (compare Defining the Type of Subroutine Parameters). When you use the ASSIGN statement, the system carries out the same type checks as for USING parameters of FORMs.
This addition is not allowed in an ABAP Objects context. See Cannot Use Obsolete Casting for FIELD SYMBOLS.
In some cases, the syntax rules that apply to Unicode programs are different than those for non-Unicode programs. See Defining Types Using STRUCTURE.
    Effect
Assigns any (internal) field string or structure to the field symbol from the ABAP Dictionary (s). All fields of the structure can be addressed by name: <fs>-fieldname. The structured field symbol points initially to the work area wa specified after DEFAULT.
The work area wa must be at least as long as the structure s. If s contains fields of the type I or F, wa should have the structure s or at least begin in that way, since otherwise alignment problems may occur.
    Example
Address components of the flight bookings table SBOOK using a field symbol:
    DATA SBOOK_WA LIKE SBOOK.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <SB> STRUCTURE SBOOK
    DEFAULT SBOOK_WA.
    WRITE: <SB>-BOOKID, <SB>-FLDATE.

  • Field alignment gets locked to top-left for last field on subform

Periodically I experience a problem with the last field on a subform. Whatever field alignment I set using Output Designer, when central pro processes the data the and aligns the data topleft. This is a particular problem when outputing financial data which I need to right align because the number of digits before the decimal point is variable. I usually work around this by adding dummy fields at the end of the subform, but this does not always fix it.
Any ideas as to what causes this? (so that I can avoid it)
Or any software fixes for it?
Are there any tools for examining the content of the .ifd or .mdf files, as this may through light on the cause.
Adobe Central Pro Output Server version = 5.5 (also affects 5.4)
    Presentment target = PDF
    Windows version = 2000 professional
    Many thanks in advance, Stephen

    Thank you for the feedback.
I have changed a some of the field positions/widths and changed the alignment from top-right to middle-right and the problem seems to have gone away.
I could not see a way of determining the printable regions of the page. The output I am crfeating is a PDF file.
I am still concerned that I don't understand the problem well enough to avoid it in the future.

  • Getting rid of borders on captions above fields

    Hi, (über-noob alert)
How do I get rid of the black borders to the left, right and above a field when the caption is above the field?
The borders of the field are set to 'none'. I could have no caption and place the captions as simple text blocks, but seems a needless workaround.
    Tahnks in advance,
    Simon.

    Hi,
a textfield has two border settings.
One for the entire object and one for the text edit UI element you typing in the text.
The objects border is accessible from the Border palette and need to be set to none.
The UI elements border is located under the Object palette in the visibility dialog (select customize...).
Here you also select none for the edges and white for the filling of the text edit UI element.

  • Text caption in hidden not exported (export /project captions and closed captions)

If you have in your demonstration text caption (ballooons) in
hidden , if you export the project caption to word it's not in
    there...
I use to set some text captions to hidden to ease my life on
slides that contain lots of ballons (and some over other ones) ,
when I export the flash animation, everything is fine , all is in
there (including the "hidden text") .
The trouble is that if i export the "project caption and
closed caption" to Word , the text of captions in hidden is not in
there . (I'm not talking about exporting handsout where you have an
option to export as well hidden slides.)
Exept if I'm wrong, I have not founded any option to manage
the fact to export hidden caption as well (or set all hidden
caption of the demonstration to "not hidden") .
It is really a problem , especially if you have done lots of
movie that needs translation, you have sent the "exported caption"
to the translation service and now you realise that some parts are
    missing .... ;(

    Hi There,
When you export the doc file as Project Caption and Closed Caption. if you change the fonts and style in Doc file and the reimported it in Captivate. It will accept those changes and you can see those changes in Captivate with the same fonts settings.
    Thanks

  • About Asset report - table and fields

    Hi ,
I am developing an Asset Report, I need table and field names for following -
    a) GL A/C P&L
    b) ASSET DEPRECIATION SCHEDULED
    c) FORCASTED DEPRECIATION
    d) PLANNED EXPENSES VERSES ACTUAL EXPENSES
    e) GAP DEPRECIATION CATEGORY
    e) When user enters the asset into SAP, the depreciation expense will automatically book to the sub-ledger. However in order to get the amount on the general ledger, which would be closed for prior periods, user must book a manual entry. So , I need this manual entry field.
    Please guide me.

  • Sale Order Item Level Text Field which table and field

    Hi,
Thanks for your prompt reply and best solution.
Can you please tell me one more thing, in sale order at item level the TEXT Field maintaining by user at transaction level now they want that field in one of the report, so can you please tell what is the table and field where i will get this sale order item level text details.

    Hello,
is this going to work for item level text as well.
can you tell how to proceed with this functional module
or is there any other thing required. Please elaborate to
    understand better way.
You can check out two table in respect to Sales TEXT i.e. STXH (STXD SAPscript text file header) and STXL(SAPscript text file lines).
The best approach of tracing out the Text in respect to Sales Order would be to use the Function module READ_TEXT and put this FM in SE37 and execute with the following parameter.
    Client
Text ID of text to be read
Language of text to be read
Name of text to be read
Object of text to be read
    Archive handle
    Text catalog local
When you are essentially looking to read item level Text with respect to Sales Order then your Text OBject would be VBBP.

  • Report page scaling/zoom for paper size and field width?

Are there ways to design a report, or programmatically set a report to dynamically resize based on factors such as paper size (A4 vs. Letter vs. Legal), orientation (portrait vs. landscape), and field width (e.g fields grow and shrink based on data)?  We are looking at ways to dynamically choose paper size and scale.  This would be similar to how Excel files can adjust for printing depending on paper, and PDF files can zoom in/out for paper size.
    Thanks,
    Kyle

We don't want to add fields dynamically at runtime.  Instead we want to automatically resize fields at runtime to properly fit data on the page.  Currently with our 400 reports, data fields have gotten longer over the years so important data is being truncated.  We'd like it if fields could properly grow/shrink/scale so that the data is always valid.  We'd like it if the user flips from portrait to landscape, the field widths automatically grow to use the entire page.  Or, if a user goes from Letter to A4, pagination still works properly and the fields get slightly wider to fit the A4 standard.
What we don't want is to have a version of the report for portrait Letter, portrait A4, portrait Legal, landscape Letter, landscape A4, landscape Legal, etc.  It would be a support nightmare.
I don't know if it is possible, but I'm hoping it is.  Thanks for the help.
