Captivate Contract Oppurtunity

Hello,
We are interested in hiring a contract freelancer to help us bring our children's mental health agency's training material to life!  We have several programs, both internally and externally that would benefit from a more interactive presentation.  The content is and has been created in Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc) so it shouldn't be a major problem with conversion and the content has been created and used for over 20 years!  Please feel free to contact me directly:
[email protected]
And check out our website for a sense of what we are doing and what we hope to accomplish!

Ok, all seems to work ok. I did the following:
Added one of the Captivate demo swf in a Frame doc.
Applied a Conditional text setting to the Anchored Frame.
Imported the Frame  file into a new RH project.
Swf file is shown in editor with Conditional Text applied and imported as Build Tag
Captivate file listed in the Project Files
So it should do what I want it to do
Adobe need to update the help page - http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS2FB6F972-6068-409b-BF1D-85CBBD75FC6B.html

No, there was a discussion if you search "30004" that references the dropped calls. It was posted in 11/14.
Let me make this clear so we do not have to go around and around again. My husband and I are on the same account. Therefore we both have verizon. He has an iPhone 5 and I have a 6. This was not a problem for me or my neighbors until a few weeks ago and I have had the phone since 10/14. My husband, who has the iPhone 5, has not experienced the dropped calls in the vicinity of our home and in our home. If it was the phone, why would I just be experiencing these issues? We are on the Cumming/Alpharetta line. 30040/30004 line. I'm sure that it wouldn't be impossible for you to check our address which is 240 Montgomery Avenue Alpharetta, GA 30004.
Please let me know what you would advise and let me know about our service area. If there has been a change without my knowledge I will need to return my phone or change carriers because I am not getting the service I am paying for.

  • Contracting opportunity for Captivate developer

Looking for Captivate expertise in Instructional Design for a major project.  Responsibilities include developing 1-2 hour Captivate modules from existing storyboards/scripts. Richard,
Something I do not understand here.  If your Captivate developer is only going to be following storyboards that someone ELSE has designed, why does he/she need expertise in Instructional Design?  Normally the instructional design aspect would have already been worked out in the storyboarding process.

  • Unable to download Captivate 8. Why won't ADOBE refund my money after I requested a refund because the download was never made available?

I purchased Captivate 8 and never received the download on my account page.  ADOBE took the money out of my account immediately after making the purchase, but then NEVER completed our contract. I tried to contact them through the "chat option, but halfway through the chat Adobe's technician vanished and the chat featured was closed.  Once I requested my $322.00 to be refunded I received a call at work from a member of the Adobe team.  He told me he would look into why I never received the permission necessary to download the purchased product.  My goal was to buy Captivate 8, NOT give Adobe $322. for nothing!
As I checked the "My Orders page today, still NO download access and checked my bank account and still NO REFUND.

The download is huge, 1.6GB, so it will take a while to download and if it fails, clear your browser’s cache and try again, or try a different browser.
There is nothing on the page that will prevent you from downloading it multiple times.  If you are getting an error it is likely your internet connection or some internet security software or something else blocking.  Did you watch the download and did it completely successfully or did it just stop?
On the page with the Try link there is a link for when you’re having problems downloading, which it seems like you are:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-download-problems.html
There are phone numbers for Adobe but usually it is an exercise in frustration talking to someone in India who has a script they will lead you through, not unlike what it says on the help page, just slower.
If you want to attach a screenshot you need to use the web version of the forums and copy/paste into the message, or use the camera icon at the top left.

  • Captivate 4 quiz score shows 100 percent but LMS shows 80 percent score

    Hi,
Here's an issue I hope someone can resolve.  We have contracted with Kaplan to house our e-learning courses into their LMS (ComplianceWire) using the AICC standard.  I have developed courses that have a ten question end-of-course quizzes.  The minimum passing score I have set is 80 percent.  I completed the course in the LMS and achieved a score of 100 percent but the LMS reports a score of 80 percent.
Here's a screenshot of my quiz preferences in Captivate 4:
    What am I missing?

    Hello,
    Some possibilities:
Besides the Quiz slides, you have other scored objects (like buttons, Click boxes, Text Entry Boxes) in the project. You can check this by having a look at the Advanced Interaction view (Project menu or F9). Is the total score there equal to the total score of the Quiz slides?
Captivate reports after each scored event, after each Quiz slide. With our LMS sometimes I do have the issue that the very last slide is not correctly reported, is left out. As a workaround I do avoid to have something scored on the last slide.
Something else to check: do you have a Score slide? Is the result correct on this slide?

  • Captivate 6:  Issue with clickbox opening URLs

I've finally made the leap for an actual client project to 6.0 (usually only do client work on 5.5) and am gutted to have run into quite a perplexing issue. It's a bog standard piece of work.  Simple conversion of a client storyboard (all their ID) into a captivate module.  There's no audio.  It has a couple of widgets in it to allow playing of hosted video and drag and drop games and a pile of advanced action stuff, but nothing exceptional.   Client has no LMS, but is hosting it on a sharepoint.   We've set it up so you can only get to the screen the 'click to start next module' once you've completed the module (the client's request).
No issues at all in our development testing.  No issues in our small group user testing.
We've now gone to our final user testing (about 30 users in various locations worldwide) and four of them have the same issue:
    - They click on the button at the end to launch the next module and nothing happens.
It's very frustrating for me because I can't replicate the issue at my end, and because of the way the contract is set up I'm not allowed on site, nor to contact users directly, so am having to trouble shoot via email with single point of contact middleman.
It is a simple click box, with an open URL function.     It works fine for me.  It works fine for 26 out of 30 users.  It point blank doesn't work for 4 out of 30.
It's a SWF output to flashplayer 10.     All users have IE7+ and Flashplayer 11+
I've rebuilt the clickbox slide from scratch once.  It is on top.  It works for me.   It still doesn't work for this small number of users.
Undertandably, the client is reluctant to go-live to 800+ global users with that kind of test fail rate.  (Weirdly all the risky stuff like the video and the drag and drop works fine on the affected users!)
    Yikes!  Any ideas?

Hi Rod, thanks for the reply.  Like I say in the post because of the way the contract is set up (I'm arms-length subcontracting for the physical training provider) I'm not allowed on client site, nor to contact users directly, so am having to trouble shoot via email with single-point-of-contact middleman.)  The arrangement is every bit as frustrating as it sounds, but is what it is.
So I am taking their word for it.
That said, I've no reason to doubt them as the same issue has been reported independently from different physical locations, and all the test users will have managed to find their way sucessfully through far more complex functionality before they get stuck at that point.
I know that from time to time when you run flash locally you can have problems launching URLs unless local flash player settings are updated to allow it - is there any network level equivalent that a company (or even local machine) may have in place that could cause the same behaviour?   Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

  • Captivate 6 issue. Exits and says not complete/issues with videos too

I use Captivate 6 on a Mac and I publish to SCORM 2.0. Previously we used Captivate 5.5 on a PC and had no problems at all.
Our e-learning portal provider (World Manager) does not support questions when created in Captivate, so we have always added questions on at the end via the e-learning portal to register 'compete'. This has worked 98% of the time (mostly within 5.5), but occasionally seems to have the following issues:
It can exit if there is a video inserted (this is sporadic at best - some modules are happy with vids, others are not)
It exits and says 'not complete' rather than going into the questions - again this is sporadic, and works for some modules and not others.
All modules have been created from ones that previously worked. Content activities and copy/images would be the only changes - no back end/exit commands have been changed. We seem to have the most problems with Cap 6. I previously installed a patch sent to me from Adobe to fix the issues I had previously with Flash files (this did not fix it either).
I am utterly at a loss and seem to have tried everything. Please help!
    Thanks, Jen

  • Captivate crashing all versions

One thing I realized reading posts on Captivate crashes is that most of the solutions proposed are kind of  v o o d o o - mumbo jumbo  like  and nothing much scientific.
Normally, when you go to the doctor, the diagnostic part is probably the most important one. Everybody here talk about a solution but not about finding what is the cause of the problem !
Here is my 2 cents worth:
I recently ran into the same problem people are experiencing. It happened to me twice within the last year. Nothing much but when you are working on a paid contract, you start getting cold
sweats 'cause the client is waiting for his presentation.
    The first problem:
The first problem I had kept me looking for days until something got my attention. I asked myself: « did I do something different or did I just do something to my Mac ? »
The answer came very fast ! I did installed some new fonts during I was editing my project. So I download a program called FontDoctor. Within seconds I found the guilty thing ! I had
corrupted fonts which made Captivate 7 crash ! Plain and simple. It seems that Captivate is very fussy about it's environment.
Removed the fonts and everything went back to normal.
    The second problem:
Ran into another type of crash. While the first one made Captivate crash upon start, this one made it crash after opening a file which made me think that the file was corrupted. Another thing you
don't want in a commercial paid production. I couldn't believe it ! On top of that, just in front of the client !
I tried to apply all the methods mentioned here and nothing worked. Creating a new user worked however. So it got me thinking. What is the difference between the two users ? Must be parameters.
Again, following any of the mentioned methods here is only  ! Nothing precise nor scientific.
So I wanted to know what caused the problem. On my Mac I opened the Console and I watched the listing being populated as I launched Captivate.
Nothing there to start a revolution. Everything opened accordingly except for a few warning about some fonts not being TTF. It's nice to know however because this can cause a performance issue.
I the proceeded to open the guilty file (which was not guilty after all). AND I FOUND MY ANSWER !
Here is a copy of the listing. See for yourself ! The dictation service was making Captivate crash !!! I just disabled it and everything came back to normal.
So, in conclusion, whether you are on a Mac or a PC, check the console of the crash report logs and do find what is causing the problem. It might not be the application at all especially
if you think that "it happened all of a sudden" yeah right ! God divine intervention ! Most of the time, it's a code "ID10T"
    13/01/2015 03:25:37,222 DictationIM[3447]: Exception in proxy <IMKTextInput> -[IPMDServerClientWrapper setMarkedText:selectionRange:replacementRange:]

    13/01/2015 03:25:37,248 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[399]: (com.adobe.Captivate.16400[4898]) Exited with code: 1 (***)
(***) This time, it was a code 1 !! LOL
By the vay ! This is crayzy !! I just wanted to type in the text above the word « v o o d o o » and the system is preventing  me to write this word ! Come on !

    Hello,
Multiple users have had this problem now. I have reported this as a bug to Adobe, and I expect a response from them shortly. We apologize for the inconvenience that this fault has caused you.
    Regards,
    Michael

  • My captivate 7 subscription is not being recognised

    Hi all,
Two days ago, I downloaded a trial version of captivate 7. After a couple of days I decided to contract an annual subscription. After payment, I download the files, reinstall, and launch the program, then access the licensing area to activate the full version, hoping that there my ID would be recognised and the subscription would subsitute the trial. Instead, the screen shows me the boxes for entering the serial number. I have not receive any captivate serial number and honestly I was not expecting to, as this is a subscription.
I have checked my control panel in adobe.com and the subscription is there to be seen as the invoice is. Apparently no problem in that area.
    What can I do?
    Thanks. Kind regards
    *** edited 27 Dec 2013 ****
Up until now, the issue remains the same. I can use the program as the trial is still in operation but my main concern is that by using a trial version any compllation I make is born with a date of expiration equal to the date of the trial expiration.

At present I have no power to the Gen 7, so need to get some power to it I think.  I pressed the buttons as you suggested, but nothing is showing up at this point.  Thank you for your response as the more I can rule out before  I take it back the better I think.

  • Captivate 4 projects and Moodle don't communicate

    Hi,
I am struggling with getting my captivate 4 modules to talk to our internally created LMS and also with Moodle.
With my captivate3 modules, I did not have any problems.
Are there certain settings that I have to use?
Do I have to adjust some file manually?
It would be great if you could help.
    Cheers, Helga
PS I will attach my mini test file, just in case that might help with my issue.

    Helga,
Although Michael is right, it could be a problem with the Moodle install, if you're publishing to SCORM 2004, I've heard others have issues with SCORM 2004 with Moodle as well.  SCORM 1.2 support seems to be pretty solid, so unless there is a contract requirement or burning reason to use SCORM 2004, 1.2 works in the vast majority of cases just fine, is easier to deal with, and more consistently supported between most current LMS vendors.

  • Captivate 2 Playback Control Issue

    Grretings All:
I have a Captivate Project that utilizes buttons for all
navigation, so I do not need to see the playback control bar,
except I need the user to be able to use the CC button. I was able
to go into the skin control and eliminate all the other buttons,
except the Info (I) button. So right now the CC button and the Info
button are displayed. Not only is the info button unneeded it looks
bad in the design. I believe this has come up before, but I have
not been able to find the solution. Any suggestions on how to turn
off the Info button in Captivate 2?
    Thanks in advance,
    W. Keith

    Hi W.Keith
You should probably contact fellow Adobe Community Expert
Paul Dewhurst. I know Paul has done some amazing things with
Playback Controls. Perhaps you can contract with him to assist you
    in banishing the Info button.
