CAS & Primary site repl group "Asset Intelligence Knowledge Base" sync error - Link failed

My environment: SCCM 2012 SP1, CAS + 1 Primary site works exellent - everything replicated and works fine.
I install one more primary site KP0. At first sync i have an error at replication group "Asset Intelligence Knowledge Base", and link state become failed. (by the way, i DONT use asset intelligence and have no such role on CAS)
What i'v done:
1. Look at "replication link analyzer" - nothing usefull but
Initialization is failed for replication group Asset Intelligence Knowledge Base.
RLA detected no re-initialization for the group Asset Intelligence Knowledge Base in last 24 hours.
BCP out failed for Asset Intelligence Knowledge Base for tables Unknown.

Then try to change 99 error status to 7 -> replication starts and fall to error again
All this time primary site KP0 is in maintainence mode... any ideas?

I found the issue with my site was because the site I added into the Hierarchy didn't have the replication link properties  site data for distributed views set.  Enabling these and running the link analyser again.  After a little time everything
showed up green for me.

  • SCCM CAS & Primary Site Server - Same SQL Database and Reporting Instance

    Hi Fellows,
I need to know whether, for SCCM CAS, a dedicated/seperate SQL instance for SCCM CAS a mendatory requirement or recommendation?
Or we can use the same SQL instance used by Primary Site Server?
    J.A

There no technical reason not to have the CAS and Primary database in separate instances of the same remote SQL server. However if you are going to deploy a CAS that would suggest a very large number of clients and a very busy infrastructure. In that case
I would RECOMMEND separate SQL servers.
This is a good guide for SQL sizing (but it is only a guide)

  • Asset Intelligence Update Service Point fails to install

    Hi,
I have one SCCM 2012 sp1 cu2 primary site running on Windows 2008 R2, and a separate SQL 2008 R2 database runnining in a cluster.
I installed the Asset Intelligence Service point using the default settings, but the component is critical.
When I look in AIUSMSI.log it tells me I do not have permissions to configure services - I am a local administrator on the primary server though and I can manuall stop and start services - error is:
Product: Asset Intelligence Update Service Point -- Error 1920. Service 'AI_Upate_Service_Point failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I ran the AIUS.msi and recieved the same error.
I went into services and stopped and restarted BITS, so my permissions seem fine. Has anyone else seen this problem?
    Thanks
    Jaz

I have created a Reddit in SCCM, describing my peoblem.
Please, can anyone take a look at it?
    http://www.reddit.com/r/SCCM/comments/2jbkfr/asset_inteligence_update_service_installation_ai/
    it goes like this:
I have came across an error entry in Monitoring node in SCCM console. Monitoring - System Status - Component Status, there was an entry about AI Update Service giving errors like this:
    1) On 10/15/14 08:38:03, component SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER on computer "SERVER FQDN" reported: Site Component Manager failed to reinstall this component on this site system.
Solution: Review the previous status messages to determine the exact reason for the failure. Site Component Manager will automatically retry the reinstallation in minutes. To force Site Component
Manager to immediately retry the reinstallation, stop and restart Site Component Manager using the Configuration Manager Service Manager.
    2) Product: Asset Intelligence Update Service Point -- Error 1920. Service 'AI_UPDATE_SERVICE_POINT' (AI_UPDATE_SERVICE_POINT) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start
    system services.
What I have tried to do: - Reinstall the role from ConfigMgr console
    - Install the AI role manualy from .\ConfigMgr\bin\x64\AIUS.msi with elevated rights (domain admin rights) and from elevated CMD (domain admin rights) - Install the AIUS.msi with local administrator
    account
    Manual installation was both:
    - During the time SCCM tries to reinstall the role by it self
    - During the time the role isn't installed at all
    - During the time the role was installed before it was uninstalled for the first time when I started troubleshooting this
Basically nothing can start the service during the installation, not even account with domain admin rights.
Do you have any idea what can I do next?

  • Asset Intelligence Catalog not working

    Hy
in my sccm 2012 the asset intelligence is not working the error is "connection faliled - service offline"
    The log says
Asset Intelligence Catalog Sync Service Warning: 0 : Thu, 09 May 2013 10:10:09 GMT:WebException trying to download:
    Status = Timeout
    I use a proxy
    Any ideas?

What URLs need to be accessible to the Site System for Asset Intelligence?
It's the AI Sync Point (role) which needs the connectivity, so that isn't necessarily the site server - it depends where you install the role.
The only stuff I could find (with a quick look) is that AISP uses https/tcp443, no listed URLs
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh427328.aspx#BKMK_CommunicationPorts
You might need to log/trace at your proxy, and build the whitelist from that?

  • Assignment of Asset Number to Group Asset

    Hi All,
For our client they are using Group Asset for the calculation of Income Tax Depreciation (Depreciation Aea:15), actually he is having two types of Land 1. Free hold land and 2. normal Land.  They created total 5 asset through(AS01) like 10000, 10001,10002,10003 and 10004.  and a Group asset through (AS21) 110000 and assigned all these assets in one group asset but they want to create two Group assets 1. 10000 & 10001 2. 10002,10003 & 10004 as another Group asset for income tax depreciation purpose. Can somebody give me the suggetion how to create 2 group assets.
    Regards,
    R.K

    Hi Raghavendran,
For the Group Asset they assigned the Depreciation Key:LINK(Straight line from acquisition value to Zero without Interest) for all the assets becuase of that it is calculating depreciation (i.e., Asset Value/No. of years) as we know for Free Hold Land Depreciation won't be calculated. For that we want to created another Group Asset with Depreciation Key: 0000(No depreciation and no interest), i want the procedure of how to create 2 group assets (1. with assets 10000 & 10001 and the other with assets 10002,10003 & 10004).

  • Asset Intelligence per site licenses

    Hello everyone!
I have a question on the following scenario:
One CAS on the parent company (in Europe) and two primary sites (both in South America).
I need to configure Asset Intelligence on this environment, the catch is that each country has to handle it's own licenses.
I know that I'll need to configure the Asset Intelligence on CAS, but when I import the MVLS will the licenses informations be available to all hierarchy? I wasn't able to find any official information for this specific scenario.
    Thanks in advance!

The scenario cant be handled in an absolutely straightforward manner. However if you are ready to put some manual effort you can manage it to a certain extent. You can do the following things:
    1. Consolidate the MVLS file and the General License Statement with requirements/inputs from all countries.
    2. Run your Asset Intelligence reports based on country specific collections and modify the fields(effective licenses, Initial Diff etc) and you would have what you need.

How to set security group as primary site collection admin and secondary site collection admin using powershell in sharepoint online site - office 365?

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set security group as admin of primary and secondary site collection using PowerShell command in office 365.
I suggest you can use the command below to set the group to site owner, then it will have the site collection admin permission.
Set-SPOSite -Identity https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites/site1 -Owner [email protected] -NoWait

  • Can we assign 2 IPs for a SCCM 2012 primary site server and use 1 IP for communicating with its 2 DPs and 2nd one for communicating with its upper hierarchy CAS which is in a different .Domain

    Hi,
Can we assign 2 IPs for a SCCM 2012 primary site server and use 1 Ip for communicating with its 2 DPs and 2nd one for communicating with its upper hierarchy CAS . ?
Scenario: We are building 1 SCCM 2012 primary site and 2 DPs in one domain . In future this will attach to a CAS server which is in different domain. Can we assign  2 IPs in Primary site server , one IP will use to communicate with its 2 DPs and second
IP for communicating with the CAS server which is in a different domain.?
    Details:
    1)Server : Windows 2012 R2 Std , VM environment .2) SCCM : SCCM 2012 R2 .3)SQL: SQL 2012 Std
    Thanks
    Rajesh Vasudevan

First, it's not possible. You cannot attach a primary site to an existing CAS.
Primary sites in 2012 are *not* the same as primary sites in 2007 and a CAS is 2012 is completely different from a central primary site in 2007.
CASes cannot manage clients. Also, primary sites are *not* used for delegation in 2012. As Torsten points out, multiple primary sites are used for scale-out (in terms of client count) only. Placing primary sites for different organizational units provides
no functional differences but does add complexity, latency, and additional failure points.
Thus, as the others have pointed out, your premise for doing this is completely incorrect. What are your actual business goals?
As for the IP Addressing, that depends upon your networking infrastructure. There is no way to configure ConfigMgr to use different interfaces for different types of traffic. You could potentially manipulate the routing tables in Windows but that's asking
    for trouble IMO.

  • Multiple Primary Sites connected to a CAS

On a global deployment of SCCM 2012 we are planning on deploying a CAS in the global domain and Primary Sites in the sub domains and Secondary Site in the smaller subsidiaries where needed.
I understand that all collections, clients and packages come through to the CAS but could an administrator connected to Primary Site A see the collections and packages in Primary Site B? Are they independent of each other with the exception of the CAS or
do all sites in the hierarchy show everything from all sites?
If that is the case then ideally we would want administrators of Site A to not even be able to connect to Site B but am struggling to understand how this could be achieved?

"The use of a CAS was made due to the scale of the deployment."
So you mean you have more than 100k devices.  Regardless of having a CAS and multiple primaries or having only 1 primary, if you have (let's say) a total of 3,000 devices; split up into 1k silos of responsibility.
you Essentially create 3 Collections, and those 3 silos get rights to their collection of devices.  Connecting to the primary sites' for the console really isn't "normal" in CM12--it's called the Central Administration Site for a
reason--it really makes it less confusing for those people that need to use the console.  You may not think so initially (coming from a CM07 point of view); but it really is the best in a CM12 world.  If you have people in different locations which
need console rights, the easiest, IMO, is to have a Citrix-hosted console; and people just connect to that console remotely; where the citrix host is in the same data center as the Central Administration Site.
Now, if you do NOT have 100k devices, or you are nowhere near that number, please please please, I beg you, PLEASE rethink your perceived need for a cas and primary sites.  T-shooting replication issues is no fun, no joy to be had there at ALL.
you need to setup RBA correctly regardless of a CAS and primaries, or just 1 primary--so having a CAS and primaries when there is ZERO NEED for it due to scale--well, all I can say is I sincerely hope you are a contractor, and are just setting this up and
then bailing never ever to return, and leaving the mess behind for the poor day to day admins to deal with.
    Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

  • Standalone Primary Site and Boundary Groups

Do I need to configure a Site Assignment Boundary Group for a Standalone Primary Site?
Unless I am reading this wrong, Torsten said no here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/4979ac47-593a-4490-9b48-b8f278f39cb7/we-are-in-the-process-of-migrating-from-2007-to-2012-r2-can-we-block-boundary-migration?forum=configmanagermigration
Does that also go for a Content Location Boundary group as well? Do I need to configure a Content Location Boundary Group in a Standalone Primary Site if all the site system roles are all on one server and there are no remote DPs or Secondary Sites?
    Thanks

There's no overlappings with other sites since there are no other sites.
So you're saying I can set up one, but it is not necessary for this scenario with a Standalone Primary Site?
If I don't set up one, but sometime down the road in the future if a Secondary Site is going to be configured somewhere, then I would need to setup one, so it would be best to do it now to get it out of the way, right?
    Danke, Torsten

  • SCCM 2012 hierarchy CAS is down will primary sites work

    hi all
SCCM 2012 hierarchy CAS is down will primary sites work and if primary site down will secondary sites work
can anyone explain this, how CAS Down will affect the functionality of other primary sites or we can still manage the clients with primary site without any problem.

    Hi,
if your CAS is down, you can still work with your primary site. You will get into replication trouble and even loose data after an offline time longer than 14 days. If you know that your offline time will be shorter than those 14 days, you will not get into
trouble. This 14 day duration needs to be configured, I think the default value was 5 days.
if you have a secondary sites and loose the connection to the primary, you are not able to manage the secondary sites since the SCCM console is only connectable to primary sites and CAS. The MP on your secondary will still collect client data which will
be transmitted to the primary after an reconnect.
    Regards
    Thomas

  • Expand a Stand-Alone Primary Site into a Hierarchy with CAS using the same server?

Currently i have a single server lab deployment of SCCM 2012 R2 which has all the CM roles and SQL server also installed on it.  I want to expand the standalone primary site configuration into central administration site but i'm not sure if i can do
it on the same site system server or if i must get a second server up to do it?
I read through http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj591551.aspx and all the leading articles but i don't really seem to find this information anywhere.
    thanks.

CAS and Primary Site cannot be installed on the same server.

  • How to evict a primary site from CAS

    Hi All,
I have a SCCM hierarchy with a CAS and 2 Primary sites, We have planned to remove the first primary site, is there a process to evict the site directly.
    Please suggest !!
    Thanks,
    Pranay.

You can't detach a primary site from a CAS. The only workaround would be to set-up a new standalone primary site and migrate all the required objects to the new site and reassign all the required clients.
