CCMS in CPS for monitoring failed jobs

hello,
One quick help needed. Is it possible to monitor failed jobs in CPS using CCMS?
Thanks
Anju

Hello Anju,
perhaps you want to check out https://service.sap.com/jsm in order to learn more about the integration possibilities between SAP Solution Manager and SAP Central Process Scheduling by Redwood. Because of this comprehensive integration there is no specific CCMS integration but of course CPS can also write information into the CCMS via XMW interface.

  • Monitor failed jobs

    Hi
    Is there any difference between Failed Job Count and Broken Job Count ?
    Thanks

    Yes please see the definition below.
    Broken Job Count The Oracle Server job queue is a database table that stores information about local jobs such as the PL/SQL call to execute for a job such as when to run a job. Database replication is also managed by using the Oracle job queue mechanism using jobs to push deferred transactions to remote master sites, to purge applied transactions from the deferred transaction queue or to refresh snapshot refresh groups.
    A job can be broken in two ways:
    Oracle has failed to successfully execute the job after sixteen attempts. The job has been explicitly marked as broken by using the procedure DBMS_ JOB.BROKEN
    This metric checks for broken DBMS jobs. A critical alert is generated if the number of broken jobs exceeds the value specified by the threshold argument.
    Failed Job Count The Oracle Server job queue is a database table that stores information about local jobs such as the PL/SQL call to execute for a job such as when to run a job. Database replication is also managed by using the Oracle job queue mechanism using jobs to push deferred transactions to remote master sites, to purge applied transactions from the deferred transaction queue or to refresh snapshot refresh groups.
    If a job returns an error while Oracle is attempting to execute it, the job fails. Oracle repeatedly tries to execute the job doubling the interval of each attempt. If the job fails sixteen times, Oracle automatically marks the job as broken and no longer tries to execute it.

    Hi,
    If your batch job is creating a file in SAP and sending it to another system. These are some things you could do, if you have tools and resources available.
    1) When the job ( SAP program ) runs to create the file, ensure there is no file already existing in the landing zone ( AL11), if it does then do not over write, just throw an error, because the last file created did not leave the landing zone, because the other system or middle were did not pick it up. Usually when the middleware or third party system picks up your file from the landing zone, it may delete the file, so next time fresh file can be picked up. It is always good to have date and time stamp on the file that you create on the landing zone, so we could uniquely track which files were creates, when it was created and transmitted.
    2) Lets say your job created the file in the landing zone, the FTP program or what ever service or tool that you use to pick the file, if it is running as per design, then it should pick it up, if not you need to see why it is not running, usually the FTP softwars like GIS will throw an error if no file is found, and we could track them.
    I am sure there are many other ways to handle if the file really left the landing zone or not. Something to think about. thanks

  • Failed Job Query on Central Management Registered Servers - Host Server is not included in results

    The following standard query works great for showing failed jobs on servers. Executing this in Central Management Registered Servers works as expected, but the Host Server results are not listed, and the same query needs to be executed against the host server
    too.
    e.g.
    Registered Servers are defined on Server A
    Results are displayed from servers B, C, D & E - but results are not displayed for Server A.
    How do we receive results from Server A without having to execute a separate query ?
    DECLARE @PreviousDate datetime
    DECLARE @Year VARCHAR(4)
    DECLARE @Month VARCHAR(2)
    DECLARE @MonthPre VARCHAR(2)
    DECLARE @Day VARCHAR(2)
    DECLARE @DayPre VARCHAR(2)
    DECLARE @FinalDate INT
    -- Initialize Variables
    SET @PreviousDate = DATEADD(dd, -7, GETDATE()) -- Last 7 days
    SET @Year = DATEPART(yyyy, @PreviousDate)
    SELECT @MonthPre = CONVERT(VARCHAR(2), DATEPART(mm, @PreviousDate))
    SELECT @Month = RIGHT(CONVERT(VARCHAR, (@MonthPre + 1000000000)),2)
    SELECT @DayPre = CONVERT(VARCHAR(2), DATEPART(dd, @PreviousDate))
    SELECT @Day = RIGHT(CONVERT(VARCHAR, (@DayPre + 1000000000)),2)
    SET @FinalDate = CAST(@Year + @Month + @Day AS INT)
    -- Final Logic
    SELECT j.[name],
    s.step_name,
    h.step_id,
    h.step_name,

    h.sql_severity,
    h.message,
    h.server
    FROM msdb.dbo.sysjobhistory h
    INNER JOIN msdb.dbo.sysjobs j
    ON h.job_id = j.job_id
    INNER JOIN msdb.dbo.sysjobsteps s
    ON j.job_id = s.job_id
    AND h.step_id = s.step_id
    WHERE h.run_status = 0 -- Failure
    AND h.run_date > @FinalDate

    Hi vsla,
    According to your description, I do a test. When I designate a Central Management Servers and create server groups, then execute statements against
     multiple configuration targets simultaneously, it
     indeed only contains the results of server groups, you need to execute again on the host server (Central Management Servers) then display the results of Central Management Servers, because the Central Management Server cannot be a member
    of a group that it maintains.
     If you want to get all servers results by executing the statement one time. I recommend you use Local Server Groups, create new register server and add all servers to the Local Server Groups, then right click “new query
    “, execute the statements, it will display all results about all servers. There are more details about administering multiple servers using Central Management Servers, you can review the following article.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb895144

  • CCMS alert emails for failed jobs

    Hello All
    What are the steps to set a ccms alert for failed jobs? Also is it possible to set ccms to warn us of long running jobs. I would like to set the sysem so that we get a email notification on any failed jobs or long running jobs.
    I appreciate any input or leads.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can get the alerts for failed jobs, Just maintain the realted setting in the ccms_onalert_email
    maintain the address and then assign this as auto reaction method in your ccms template for background jobs.
    Also i request to search SDN there are many threads related to auto reaction mails.

  • CCMS job monitoring -- RZ20 job history node get duplicated record

    Hi,
    I configured CCMS/Solution Manager auto monitoring job failure. When a job failed on my satellite system, it created a alert and send notification to my CEN, which is my solution manager. Then solution manager send e-mail to a distribution group.
    This is working fine until last week. Now when a job failed, in job history node of RZ20 of my satellite system, the alerts are created mutiple times even the job actually only failed once. For some reasons, the history node of the alerts are updated every 5 minutes with the same job failure. More interestingly, after one hour, it did not create alerts any more. However, as the result I get many e-mails with the same job failure in this once hour, which I expect only one e-mail.
    Do you guys encounter the same problem? I am wondering something has been unintentionaly turned on so it's updating every 5 minutes. I want to turn it off. I looked at SM37 try to find if some batch jobs are doing this but did not find anything running on every 5 minutes.
    Any helpful answers will definitely be appreciated and reward point.
    Yujun Ran

    Hi Suhas,
    Once we had the same issue. But once we updated the current ccmsagent in both Solution manger and the satellite system the issue got resolved.

  • Issue in SAP CPS for Job Interception

    Issue in SAP CPS for Job Interception
    Scenario:
    After triggering a Process Chain in BW and maintaining the Job Interception settings in SAPCPS(Redwood)
    (so that any job which triggers in BW by that Particular User is intercepted and not let it proceed further until the job is released in SAP CPS.)
    Issue:
    The Jobs are getting  into  Waiting status in SAP CPS(Redwood) even though there is no progress in loads in BW side. Also the Jobs are in Intercepted state even after releasing the Parent Job in SAP CPS(Redwood).
    Please let us know how  to go about it.

    Hi Ramesh,
    What you plan to do is called monitoring of process chains (ie. process chains not started from CPS) and this should be available in the latest version of CPS.
    This requires the interception of only the BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER process, just as you have configured now, and other than that the following prerequisites:
    SAP Note 1080558 describes the SP levels for the BW/BI releases
    XBP 2.0 or higher
    Redwood transport files must be loaded
    ProcessServerService.SAP.XBPVariant license key
    Maybe this helps,
    Anton.

  • Trigger Alert for Long Running Jobs in CPS

    Hello,
    I am currently trying to make a trigger so that I can monitor the long running jobs in the underlying ERP. Can you help me on the APIs to use?
    Im trying to modify my previous alert - Chekcing of failed jobs
      // only check error jobs
      if (jcsPostRunningContext.getNewStatus().equals(JobStatus.Error)) {
        String alertList = "email address ";
        String [] group = alertList.split(",");
        for (int i = 0; i < group.length; i++) {
          JobDefinition jobDefinition = jcsSession.getJobDefinitionByName("System_Mail_Send");
          Job aJob = jobDefinition.prepare();
          aJob.getJobParameterByName("To").setInValueString(group<i>);
          aJob.getJobParameterByName("Subject").setInValueString("Job " + jcsJob.getJobId() + " failed");
          aJob.getJobParameterByName("Text").setInValueString(jcsJob.getDescription());
    Im trying to look for the API so I can subtract the system time and the start time of the job and compare it to 8 hours?
    if (jcsPostRunningContext.getNewStatus().equals(JobStatus.Error)) {    <--  Can I have it as ( ( Start Run Time - System Time ) > 8 Hours )
    Or is there an easier way? Can somebody advise me on how to go about this one?

    Hi,
    You can do it using the api:
    if ((jcsJob,getRunEnd().getUTCMilliSecs() - jcsJob.getRunStart().getUTCMilliSecs()) > (8*24*60*1000))
    This has the drawback that you will only be notified when the job finally ends (maybe more then 8 hours!).
    The more easier and integrated method is using the Runtime Limits tab on your Job Definition or Job Chain. This method can raise an event when the Runtime Limit is reached. The event can trigger your notification method.

    CCMS is used for system monitoring , why should we use solution manage ?
    Whats the relationship between CCMS system and SolMan?
    Thank you .

    hi,
    I just want to ask a question. At our client we have solution manager and CCMS. There is data in CCMS I can extract, it is loading on BW side ok the same number of recs,  but the problem on CCMS cubes says there are the same number of record in the cube and also showing as the data is ready for the reporting. But when I run the report and view the data as listcube it is empty.
    ANy of you have the situation like this cube say it has the data but when do th BEX or infocube contents the cube is empty nothing in there. The same thing is happening with hourly, 15 minute and daily cubes.
    Anyhelp on this matter is appreciated

  • External tools for monitoring job scheduling

    Hello All,
    Please give me the infomation on third party tool used for monitoring the process chains, handling issues and job scheduling.
    Also why do we need third party tools and what are the available third party tools..

    Hi,
    Giving you a scenerio,
    Data load from Oracle to BI. Flow is
    Oracle 7.0 --> Oracle 10G  Daily refresh
    Oracle 10G --> BI 7.0 Daily load ones Oracle 10G refresh complete
    how BI 7.0 will understand if 10G refresh is complete ?
    Need a triggering/scheduling tool which triggers events that this step is complete.
    These tools usually reads a small file usually kepts on servers using FTP ones one step is complete. Such tools read if the file is available ( based on conditions provided, like check between 2am to 3am if file has arrived etc.) and ones available they trigger an even and next process starts
    E.g. MAESTRO is used in such case.
