Cflayout tab - forces document mode to IE 7 Standards

I have no idea why this is happening, but when I view any page that has tabs using cflayout, the document mode changes from IE 8 to IE 7. The site is running on Windows 2003, CF 9.0.1. The site is specifying an IE-8 document mode by using:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" />
The site is:

If you look at the this page in IE, you'll notice that the document mode default is set to IE 7, even though the meta tag (above) is in the source code. Then if you click on the link that says:
< view all Teton Science Schools' events
You will get to a page without any tabs, and you'll see that the document mode goes back to IE 8.
I cannot replicate this on my Windows 7 development machine, which tells me that it must be some sort of server issue. Any ideas?

I think you might be a bit confused about the compatibility modes, becuase the tabs page isnt being displayed in IE7 mode (by default anyway). IE8 will only emulate IE7 if one of the following is true:
the meta tags specifies to
the user has added the domain to their custom list
your domain is on the MS managed list and the user has elected to use this list.

But I think you are just refering to the fact that the compatibility mode button is being displayed, despite the tag specifiying ie8?
I think the problem might be the meta tags position, on the page were it is working it comes right after the head tag. I would also run your page through the w3c validator. Two related problems could be:
http headers specify encoding as utf-8 and a meta tag specifies iso-8859-1
the html doctype is html, but the tags are written as xhtml

CF 9.0.1 cflayout tab - first tab - content height problem in IE 7

In IE 7, the first tab's height is incorrectly rendered - it is the combined height of the up/down arrows in the scroll bar instead of the tab's content. The rest of the tabs are rendered correctly. I am using IE 8, and changed the Document Mode to: "IE 7 Standards." It renders fine in IE 8 or even Quirks mode.
I'm not sure if CF 9.0.1 update created this problem. Can someone test this code on CF 9.0?
Here's a very simple test case - copy/paste this to a new .cfm file and take a look on IE 7 (or IE 7 Standards mode in IE 8)

Correct. The first tab fully displays in IE 8 both compatibility mode and 'regular' mode when running on CF 9.0.0 (actually, maybe I should spell out: Coldfusion Server Developer 9,0,0,251028
and does not work in Coldfusion Server Enterprise 9,0,1,274733 as I stated.
I found some posts about making minor corrections to the "cflayout.js" but I think those were changes to the 9.0.0 scripts, because it was very different from the 9.0.1 cflayout.js script.
Bottom line - I "fixed" it by putting in the fix script into CFIDE\scripts\ajax\package\cflayout.js
And when I say the fix script it's almost the original 9.0.0 one, but I got it here:

This code will embed a script that will open the doc in Reading Mode:

You can't remove the toolbar from the document window, only in full screen mode it's invisible.

Browser document Mode in Custom Framework works partially.

Hallo.
In our custom Framework, I have the iview "Browser Document Mode"
Property "Browser Document Mode"="IE=EmulateIE7"
When I browse in the portal, it works and if I search the document mode, using,the Internet Explorer developer tool, I see:
"Non-standard IE 5 Document type" and it works right.
When I open a km news to create a new one, it opens a separate page, and it doesn't work well.
I see : "Non-standard Document type" and it dosen't work well when I browse in km folder.
If I force "Non-standard IE 5 Document type"
How can I solve it ?

iview manage news, has: Launch in new window:"Display in Portal Content Area"
The problem happens only when i click "New News" that seems it loses the setting Property "Browser Document Mode"="IE=EmulateIE7"
Perhaps, if there is a property to specify "Browser Document Mode"="IE=EmulateIE2" in the Layout Set "NewsBrowser" could it be the solution?
How could I do this?

Internet Explorer 11 - Emulation Document Mode and User Agent String Drop Down Menu Blank

I have a user who has a problem with Internet Explorer 11 where when you go to emulation mode using F12, the Document Mode and User Agent String Drop Down Menu are both blank. On our internal website its works correctly but on all other external websites
they are both blank.
I have had a look at the link below but this did not help as it would not recreate some of the registry keys.

Please include links to any websites that you are having issues with your questions.
There are some known reasons why the documentMode dropdown appears blank...
not all websites though should have the conditions for this.
f12>Console tab, refresh the page to show suppressed error messages and warnings... (documentMode x-ua toggling is listed)...
IE11 includes improvements for XSS... to link to internet sites from your intranets you need to add those sites (If you really, really trust them) to the Trusted Sites list.
the developer console will list blocked xss requests.
by default IE11 runs in EPM.... in the Internet Zone, while it is not switched on for the intranet zone....
EPM only allows 64 bit Addons and ActiveX controls to run in the context of an IE tab...
so its highly likely that one of your Addons is causing the issue.
the first step in troubleshooting IE issues is to test in noAddons mode.

How can I set Internet Explorer document mode to be used for Outlook folder web sites?

Hi,
I'm using an application that creates an overview of all our outlook calendars into a HTML web site which is displayed via a MS Exchange public folder - using the folder web site feature.
With a recent update of this application I'm getting scripting errors that are caused by the document mode which is active in Outlook (IE7 mode).
Even when using the following meta tag:
<meta http-equiv='X-UA-Compatible' content='IE=edge'>
to force IE into the most current rendering mode it still uses IE 7 mode.
Is there any way to fix this?

Do you mean MapiFolder WebView?
MapiFolder WebView is the folder property but there is no settings or relevancy properties to control it to open any of IE mode in Outlook client. Thus, I think we cannot use Meta tag to force the page to open with a specific IE mode.
Not sure which exact application you are using here, but it happens right after a recent update, you probably need to check with the support of the application for support.

For a particular job work PO , with account assignment category F & item category L, non valuaated material, when we are doing migo, excise invoice tab page/ Document Info tab page is not appearing in document header. From The said tab page we can select the challan.
In J1ID, I have maintained Vendor PAN number and also material chpter id combination.

Configuration issue in IE as Document mode: 10 and User agent String: Internet Explorer 8

Hi,
I have a telerik rad popup window performing some input operation. The problem is when I use the configuration in IE as Document mode: 10 and User
agent String: Internet Explorer 8, scroll bars appear in the window from nowhere. It is working fine with every other configuration of IE. I've also used a separate stylesheet for IE 8 but it won't apply in this case.

Hi,
It seems we need to talk with the site developers to determine how the sheet would display with different IE user agent string.
Regarding the user agent string changes, please take a check with the following article:

Changing the Document Mode to IE9

I exported my Captivate project for HTML5, and the project works on my MAC and PC, but when testing it on another co-workers computer using IE9, she was unable to play the project, index.html. When she opened index.html, this is the response she received in her browser,
"The content you are trying to view is not supported in the current Document Mode of Internet Explorer. Change the Document Mode to Internet Explorer 9 Standards and try to view the content again.
To change the Document Mode, press F12, click Document Mode: , and then select Internet Explorer 9 Standards."
Is this something I can change in the CSS document within the project folder?
Any advise would be helpful.

IE9 is not all that HTML5 ready. I would recommend you output for both HTML5 and HTM/SWF when you publish. If you do, you should see a file called Multiscreen.html. Ask your coworker to try that file instead.

Sharepoint send to button not working with document mode 9

We are using document mode 9 for HTML 5 in the master page but the SharePoint send to button is not working with ie 9.
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue.

SharePoint 2010 doesn't use HTML 5, so its possible that the browser is running in quirks mode. Try the default compatibility mode and see if that works for you.

Force curtain mode during screen sharing

We have an interesting use case. Under normal circumstances when someone goes to connect to a remote Mac OS device with screen sharing the device's screen keyboard and mouse still work. Most sites I've been to have recommended "Pay $80 and get Apple Remote Desktop". We actually do have a license for it here and use it for admin tasks (like, Hey... let me share your screen and help you out with your problem). However, we have another use case... We have a lot of iMacs here at the office. In the event of a snow storm the user wants to work from home. So they set up an SSH tunnel into my network and do a screen sharing session. Another user actually comes in to the office that day and can see everything the person is doing on their iMac (and actually do things to the screen themselves). Our compliance manager is having a fit because of this. Now, I can't force all my users to go out and buy ARD for their personal devices. Even if we did, I can't prevent them from using their normal screen sharing app to connect to their machines instead of ARD. So, ARD isn't an option.
So, I'm hoping there is another solution to the problem. Questions...
* Where are the ARD plist files and is there a setting that says "Always use Curtain Mode when connecting to this machine". I can probably use Profile Manager to force Remote Management (versus screen sharing alone) and set the ARD plist file to force curtain mode.
* Is it better to use "Remote Management" or "Screen Sharing" to accomplish this?
* Any other alternatives?

How did you fix your problem? I have the same issue where the option to "switch to control mode" is greyed out. I have 4 macs at home with the same set up"it looks like the same set up" and it only happens on my new iMac.

That depends on where you are... In the state of New Jersey, where I live, I believe that it is legal to record a conversation if at least one party to that conversation knows that it is being recorded, and there is no legal duty to inform the other party that the conversation is being recorded.
This means that I could legally record all conversations I have with other people within the state of NJ, and likewise anybody whom I call or who calls me can record out conversations. However, it would be illegal for a third party to record out conversation without our knowledge and consent.
Now the situation becomes more complex if I call somebody, or somebody calls me, across state lines... I've not made a study of the laws in every state, but I would not be surprised if there are states where both parties must give consent for the conversation to be recorded. This is probably the reason for the announcement "your call may be monitored and recorded for quality purposes" at the beginning of every call to customer support...

Flex mobile orientation: force portrait mode and then allow auto orientation

I'm creating a flex mobile project and I want to force the app to portrait orientation when I click a button, and when I click other button allow again to change the orientation.
This is my code when I click the first button, where I want to force portrait mode:

It works ok and it changes the orientation if it's needed.
Now, when I want to allow orientation change again, I've only putted:
stage.autoOrients = true;
It works ok if when I click the first button the app is in portrait and it doesn't have to change anything. But if it's on landscape and it have to change to portrait, when I allow orientation change again, it doesn't work ok.
Do you know if I have to allow or change something? Or, is there any better way to do this?

SPDIF In not working, no SPDIF tab in Entertainment mode, X-FI Extreme PCI

I am trying toget the SPDIF input working with my HDTV as the source of the audio input. I have looked everywhere in these forums and there are many references to the SPDIF tab in Entertainment mode, but this does not exist in my software. I have done the software auto update and it tells me I have the latest software and drivers. How do I get the SPDIF input to work. I would think it should be as easy as turning on this input, but I cannot figure out how. HELP!!

Well basically it is possible, and I've found this out. Apparently Dell released a driver or something that allows it to work, but then only if you install a 3rd party modified xp version of the creative suite. I don't remember where I found it, but it was through google... Using some term including x-fi, dts, and vista.... Can't seem to find it now. Anyway, it had a download for the whole creative suite that was modified from the xp version for Vista, however it was buggy as hell, caused driver issues and blue screens, and ended up causing me to have to reinstall Vista altogether again. In other words, it's possible, but I don't recommend it until it's officially supported... Don't know when this will be yet... *crosses fingers*
Luckily I've got a dual OS system with XP too, and I switch to that when I want to use my Xbox 360... However due to Microsoft also being terrible in that department... I now get entertainment off of its 3 red lights... (For those of you who don't know, 3 red lights = hardware error. Sending into microsoft for repair typically is a 2 month process... I'm still waiting on my prepaid shipping box to arri've and it's been 4 days... Will be a similar wait to get it to them, 4-6 weeks for them to actually repair, and another week or so to get it all shipped back). Although even when the console worked, my dsl modem sometimes cut out when playing on Xbox li've and dropped signals, reported errors, etc.
