Change "Applet Started" in status line?

Hello,
I am trying to override the browser's standard "Applet Started" "Applet Loaded" messages...
One of the reasons is that IE does not display Applet name at all, while Firefox shows the class path of the Applet name...
I want it to be uniform...
After lots of research I found this
http://www.jguru.com/faq/view.jsp?EID=487929
where they explain that
getAppletContext().showStatus("");
would help me do this...But it is not working for me.
I am inserting it in the applet class right after init but nothing happens.
Could someone help me out where I have to inssert this code?
Cheers,
Gyuri

  • Applet Started in IE but no Form

    Hi,
In Forms 10g when I run form built with Forms 6i then IE launches and shows nothing just says Applet Started in Status Bar.
Forms built with 10g are running normally in IE.
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
    It's somehow confused....
In Forms 10g when I run form built with Forms 6i ...Did you run a form 6i without compiling it in Forms10g...???
In Forms 10g when I run form built with Forms 6i then IE launches and shows nothing just says Applet Started in Status Bar

Eventually... the forms 6i - without have been compiled to Forms10g- are not displayed...????
Please , clarify your problem .. in a simpler way....!!!!

Thus it is VERY difficult for instance to drag a layer in the layer list to the wastebasket - the cursor simply is too big for the waistebasket icon. Even all other exact work is impossible.  Of course I have checked all the cursor presets but nothing seems to help. My OS is Windows7.

    Have you tried resetting Preferences?
A logical next step would be to reset your Preferences.
    To reset Preferences:
If Photoshop is already open on your screen, close it (Quit). Then hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and start Photoshop.
A dialog box will pop up asking if you want to delete the existing Preferences file (the "Settings"). Click Yes in the dialog box. The existing Preferences file will be scrapped and a new one will be created.

  • Why does captivate 5 scorm 2004 change the pass/fail status when using complete/incomplete

SUMMARY:  I am trying to use SCORM 2004 reporting but I am finding out ADOBE does not diffentiate between COMPLETE/INCOMPLETED and PASSED/FAILED variables in the SCORM 2004.
RESULT: I can not accurately get the passing/failing status from the course.
QUESTION: Is their anything I can do or does ADOBE have a patch they have release which will accurately report the passed/failed STATUS as well as the completed/incompleted status.
OTHER RESEARCH: I even attempted to post these "proofs" on scorm.com and they have something called "SATISFACTION TRACKED" to accomodate content creation systems (CAPTIVATE 5) which does not follow the standards of SCORM 2004.
BACKGROUND:  the report status "Incomplete/Complete" and "Pass/Fail" under the publishing options for SCORM 2004 essentially mean the same thing when the CAPTIVATE COURSE sends setvar commands to the SCORM API...  In other words the SCORM API receives the same exact commands when publishing in both modes.  "THIS IS WRONG"
why is the wrong?  IF REPORTING; incomplete/complete ;  the CAPTIVATE 5 COURSE SHOULD NOT "change" the STATUS OF PASS/FAIL when attempting to report COMPLETE/INCOMLETE with 100% slide views.
    DEMO #3> SHOWS THE PROBLEM
About DEMO #1 and DEMO #2> these are other reporting options I attempted with other problems arrising..so these images are just for supporting my original problem which is shown in DEMO #3...
DEMO 1 (REPORT STATUS has no affect on reporting):SETTINGS:
    PASS: (PROBLEM)
Anything above Passing Score is not recorded to LMS (once passing is reached...no more bookmarks are recorded)
    FAIL: (CORRECT)
Failure gets sent to the database on the last screen with "completed"
DEMO 2 (Report status  [Complete/Incomplete  Pass/Fail]   has no impact on commands sent to scorm api):
    SETTINGS:
    PASS: (CORRECT)
Very Last page gets sent to the Database
    FAIL: (PROBLEM)
NOTHING GETS SENT TO DATABASE (stuck in final score screen forever)...because it says "INCOMPLETE"
    DEMO 3:
Report status [Complete/Incomplete Pass/Fail] has no impact on commands sent to scorm api
    SETTINGS:
    PASS: (CORRECT)
Very Last page gets sent to the Database with a 90% passing with "completed"
    FAIL: (PROBLEM)
LAST SLIDE SENDS "completed" but GETS SENT AS A PASSING SCORE??? even when it is a failure
(IN OTHER WORDS ADOBE CHANGES THE PASS/FAIL STATUS based on slide views...
this is WRONG ....REALLY WRONG becuase I am trying to report
    "COMPLETE/INCOMPLETE" for 100% slide views
    PASS/FAIL OPTIONS:
    OPTION I CAN PURSUE?
SO WHAT CAN I DO?  YES, I CAN TELL THE LMS...to COMPARE THE SCORE RECEIVED DURING A "COMPLETE" status...and then change the grade in the LMS based on the SCORE IN THE LMS...BUT THAT WOULD MEAN THE LMS COULD REPORT ONE GRADE and the COURSE COULD REPORT A DIFFERENT GRADE....and that would not be good.
ALL OF OUR COURSES SHOW THE STUDENT THE FINAL SCORE WITHIN EACH COURSE..
    QUESTION TO ADOBE?
SO ADOBE when are you going to differentiate these two reporting options so that the PASS/FAIL OPTIONS ARE ACCURATELY REPORTED WHEN USING COMPLETE/INCOMPLETE?
    MORE INFORMATION
HERE IS THE SCORM.COM "Satisfaction" adjustment (very last line) to accomodate inconsistent reporting in CAPTIVATE 5.

and cmi.success_status does not work independently with scorm 2004.  they both share the same definition.  These two field were designed to help differentiate the difference between a passing or failing score and when the course is actually completed.   WITH CAPTIVATE 5 they do not differentiate the two.  COMPLETE means PASS and INCOMPLETE means fail..
I was trying to use "completion_status" as a way to determine when all slides were shown.  So that I can send the final score (PASS/FAIL) the LMS after all slides were viewed and this was the absoluted score the student recieved.

    Hi,
Here's something I found in a similar situation... hope this helps!
After publishing your CP5 project as a SCORM 2004 zip file, unzip the file so you can get into the separate files.  Open the imsmanifest.xml file with a text editor; I like using Notepad++.  Search for the line starting with <imsss:minNormalizedMeasure>.  The complete line will probably look like <imss:minNormalizedMeasure></imss:minNormalizedMeasure>, this is the line that is supposed to contain your passing score (at least for our LMS).  So, if your passing score is supposed to be 80%, edit this line to be:  <imsss:minNormalizedMeasure>0.80</imsss:minNormalizedMeasure> and save the file.  Then select all the files and re-zip them, I use 7-zip for that.
I found one other weird thing that doesn't happen 100% of the time, so test it.  In the example above, try to get a score of exactly 80% (or whatever passing grade you are using) and see if you get the correct status reported.  I found I sometimes have to re-edit that line in the manifest file to be 0.79 so it correctly includes an exact 80% score.  No idea why and you have to watch the number of questions in your quiz to make sure that works for you mathematically.
If this works or not, I'd recommend posting your results so others can get some ideas.  Good Luck!!

  • JApplet / application init / start progress status feedback

We used to put up a separate JFrame during the initization/startup of our applets/applications for status messages. While o.k. for Java Webstart / application modes (& maybe standalone applet mode), this was not pretty for customers embedding our apps in portals.
So, the goal became to show custom progress/status on the "gray screen" initial applet contentpane until our app desktop is ready to show. Known threading / painting issues during applet startup made this task somewhat non-trival.
Searched around here on the jdc & found a nice little Moving Ball class & used that as a base for the play app below. Thought I'd post this back to jdc in case anyone else finds it useful. The JApplet code has a main, so same code should work for the app whether deployed as a (plug-in) applet, application JAR or Web Start app.
The code should show a RED moving ball during init, a YELLOW one during start and a GREEN one after start method is done (w/ball x position update in scrolling pane)....
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.WindowListener;
    import java.awt.event.WindowAdapter;
    import java.awt.event.WindowEvent;
cforster: Uses Ball painting code (from jdc) & separate status area to simulate JApplet
startup msgs to be shown to user during applet init...
Point is to show status during applet/application initialization (init / start) methods...
Can JAR this up & try in appletviewer or using 1.4.2+ plugin, etc.
With main() also usable in application / Webstart mode....
If going the application route (or double-click JAR route), need JAR manifest.mf like:

        Created-By: 1.4.2 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)

  • Application install starts but status is failed

    Hi guys,
I'm running into an issue where I'm deploying Microsoft Office 2010 Pro and although the install starts the status in Software Center is "Failed". Once application finishes installing and I click on "Reply" button status changes to "Installed".
This seems to happen only with this software.
The fail error code is: 0x87D00324(-2016410844).
Doing a search on the forums I see that people are suggesting to try a different detection methods for my deployment and I have tried different ones but to no luck. I also tried starting the install by launching .exe and .msi but that didn't make a difference.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
    Steve

  • Changing applet background

hi i've created my applet successfully, but would now like to change it's appearance primarily so it isn't a grey square box.
i've created an image to use as a 'background' (it does more than just change the colour) but when it loads up, the image over writes everything (except a canvas object i have that contains a graph). When i click the mouse over the blank areas some of the objects that should be displayed appear.
how can i make the image go to the back ?
I have added the image object using the paint method, is this where i have gone wrong?
    Thanks

  • Text box - I hit return and it exits rather than starts a new line or point

Ok so I'm a very basic user of indesign, and we are still on CS2, but can someone please help with this.   I start a new text box, and type - the wrapping works, but if I want to start a new line or do a bullet list , hitting the return key exits the text box, rather than starting a new line.  I cant find anywhere to alter the formatting.  Have tried resetting to basic paragraph format.

This is more common on laptops than I would have imagined. If you like having the numlock on, you'll probably want to remap the numpad enter.
Turn on numlock, then Edit > Keyboard shortcuts... Set the product areae at the top to Type Menu and scroll down to Insert Break Character: Paragraph return. Click in the new shortcut field and hit the numpad enter key, then change the context field from default to text. You'll have to save this as a new custom set and select it for use. Both enter keys should now work with numlock on or off to insert a paragraph break. You can creat a new shortcut for the column break if you like at the same time.

  • Status Line in Web Forms

I am using the static implementation of forms. I have specified
a console window in the forms property. I cannot see the status
line in version 6.0 (forms are displayed in the same frame as
static HTML). When I used version 5.0 of forms which displayed
the Web form in a new frame I got the status line but it was
always set to "Warning: Applet Window".
I like 6.0 implementation of showing the form in the same frame
but the messages in the status line is very important to my
    application. Any help?
I tries adding "USESDI=YES" parameter to the static HTML, did
not make any difference. The client side looks like doing MDI
implementation because I can move my form around within the
    applet window.
    Thank You,
    Amir

    I'm developing with Forms 5.0.
With Microsoft Explorer the Frame always show the message
"Warning: Applet Window", but with Netscape Communicator 4.5 IT
WORKS!!! It always show the correct message.

  • How to change standard start page of AS Java

    Dear experts,
could you please tell me - is it possible to change the start page of the SAP J2EE server (which is shown when you go to the http://<server name>:50+<system number>*100  page -
SAP Help Portal, System information, User Management etc.)?
Is it possible to change it to the customer page?
I thought it is connected with HTTP provider service, but the root directory pointed where
doesn't exists in the server (.../j2ee/docs),
so I don't understand, from what source the standard page is retrieved and shown to the user.
    Thanks a lot!
    Andrey.

    Hello Ventsi,
thanks a lot for clearing of the situation.
In fact we have a question - how to show the static web page which is stored on the J2EE server instead of the standard index.html. It is not an application, but simple html page.
In HTTP provider help we can see the following lines -
    Root Directory
The root directory for this host. The installation program does not create the main directory for the HTTP files automatically. It must be created additionally, or the path must be redirected to an existing directory.
    Value  ../../docs

This page is displayed when the browser establishes a connection with the host. The server searches the root directory for a file that appears in the Welcome Files list. The first match found is returned to the client browser.
So does it mean that we have to create docs directory manually and put our file into this directory?
Or it is the wrong approach?
    Thanks!

  • [SOLVED] vim status line invisible/wrapped in terminal unless I resize

    Hi all,
Whenever I open a file in Vim within a terminal (urxvt, Terminator, xterm) the status line at the very bottom is either invisible or wrapped onto a new line (ie "bot" or "All" will span a line) until I manually resize the window by dragging an edge - this seems to fix the issue (and Vim continues to display correctly even if I continue resizing) .  I tried changing the window geometries (in .Xresources for urxvt, and in terminator via --geoemtry) without luck.  Changing fonts (type, size) doesn't help either.
I'm running Openbox on a recent Retina MacBook Pro with nVidia drivers, with infinality-bundle installed.
The same behavior occurs under Awesome, and I tried various Openbox themes, all with the same result.   So, perhaps its a bash or nVidia issue.
    gVim works perfectly though.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

The status line - the very bottom line - is either (1) below the visible portion of the terminal window - and remains so even if I page down repeatedly (urxvt) - or (2) is visible but the text appearing on it, like "bot" or "all" that are normally visible on the lower right corner, will wrap around (Terminator).  That is, I'll see "b" on the bottom right corner and then "ot" on the bottom left but a line lower.  In either case, if I manually resize the terminal window, it "catches up" and all appears correctly.
Update: when running Vim without opening a file (just "vim" from the command line), in Terminator ALL of the visible text from the startup text is wrapped (ie "Vim is open source and freely distributable" wraps onto a second line).  In urvxt, that text appears normally but the status line is not visible.  In both cases, a window resizes corrects the display.
    Very strange.

I just installed OAS 10gr2 10.2.0.2 and after configure webutility

i am following the document 566628.1 and running the form utility "webutilconf" and there is no errors
and every thing in its place
    but when i put baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm .. not (webutiljpi.htm nor webutiljini.htm)
the forms run ok but without webutil functions .. if i run webutil functions it gives me "oracle.forms.webutil.file.filefunctions" message

thank you for your time but my issue is
if i put baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm at formsweb.cfg it works fine but without "webutil" functions
,so when i change that parameter to any thing else (like webutiljpi.htm or webutiljini.htm ) it gives me blank page
so i think it is not a jinit. issue it is about webutil configurations , but i follow a doc from oracle support and every thing in its place
