Change Control

1) What kind of 'day-to-day' maintenance/administration/monitoring processes for your oracle EBS system do you put through change control? Can you provide some examples?
2) Also if you are like a systems administrator for Oracle EBS, what are your day-to-day duties for managing the system?

  • Notification to Manager on creation of an Urgent Change Control

Trying to set up a notification subscription so that when someone creates an Urgent Change Control, the Manager of that person gets notified. Looking in the subscription, under Recipients not sure what to put there. Since it could be anyone that creates
the CC, how do you direct the notification to just that persons Manager?
I am sure it has something to do with the Template that is used and the Activity tab but not sure what. Can someone get me started in the right direction or is this even possible?

Alternatively, If you need the line manager to approve, you might try adding a review activity to the process and setting the "Line Manager must approve" checkbox on that activity. if you have set up standard review activity notifications,
then the manager of whoever created the request will get a notice.
if the user only needs to be notified, then you might set the approval method on that activity to "automatic" so the notification is sent, then the RA is automatically approved and the process can continue.

  • Changing controlling area from single company code to cross company code

    Hi,
Due to my client requirement, in the middle of the year, we need to change the controlling area from being same as company code to cross company code controlling area. Although the currency is same. We are going to create a new company code. Is the changing controlling area settings possible to do? what are the precautions and changes need to be taken?
One more question, we need to change the company code when the new company code is created in the system in Cost Center Masters in the middle of the year. Is this possible after changing controlling area from single company code to cross company code. Right now company code is not appearing in the cost center master.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Saidarao

    Hi,
If both companies having transaction data its not possible,Normally before defining Organisational Strucutre only we have to deside both companies is assigning same controlling are or have to maitain separately for this we have to compare the Fiscal year,Operating chart of accounts ,if both having same then we will assign both the company codes to one controlling area if these two companies having different currencies also its not a problem. When we creating Controlling Area we have to choose option of controlling area as same company code (if one company code one controlling Area) for example if you assigning two companies then we have to use cross company code cost accounting. If u need any further information let me know.

  • Solution Manager Certification -- Change Control Management

I am planning to do the certification test on "Application Management Expert - Change Control Management" , C_E2E200_08.
I am looking for sample questions or any study tips.

    Hello Tathagata,
    Please do the following checks.
    1) Check if the satellite system TMS is configured with three system landscape.
    2) Check both to and back RFCs to the systems. Especially check if the users are not locked. Even if the users are locked, the RFC check may give you green.
    3) Go to central configuration(/TMWFLOW/cmsconf) in Solution Manager system and check if the system are shown green.. If not there will be a check list to make the systems green. For example no changes should be permitted in the production system.

  • Change Control tools for APEX development

I have a customer who is using APEX and would like to have change control, version, and synchronization of APEX pages...
Basically we are talking about Configuration management capabilities

Well, since APEX is mostly pl/sql based, the other poster's idea of SQL Developer is valid... The other items.... you are on your own for test scripts (again sql developer for the pl/sql required...)
What it sounds like is your are wanting a oracle designer wrap-around for APEX.. Don't know what to tell you.. I would suggest you look at some type of version control system.. Subversion is a good one, MS Source Safe works too...
    Thank you,

  • Virtual systems in SMSY? (Change Control Mgmt. & Change Request Mgmt.)

    Dear all,
We plan to implement Change Control Management (CCM) and Change Request Management (Charm).
At the current stage of the project, we do not have all satellite systems ready (e.g. production system is missing, Dev and QA are setup).
Nevertheless we want to start setup of Charm and CCM.
We understand that we have to "register" the missing systems in the STMS as virtual systems.
But how do we do that in the SMSY?
Do we enter the data manually? or can we "load" the data out of the STMS?
And what are the typical traps and errors we can make (i.e. hopefully avoid making). Anyone to share his/her experience?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Jan

    Hi Jan
    please see:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_smehp1/helpdata/en/9c/efa9068cce4149a40d7991ad2113f3/content.htm
    Goto SMSY
    Systems
Select your SAP XXX (like SAP ERP or SAP Netweaver)
    Click on your SID
On the right hand side you go to the tab "Header Data"
Here you can aktivate planned or production
If you are unable to see the planned button that this is because your setting for data source is not set to manual.
Than please click on the button "Other object" (SHift + F5), for System enter your SID and click on the lock "Set Datasource to Manual input CTRL+F9)
This will set your SID-System to manual adjustment - just confirm.
Than you can mark your system as planned
You will be able to add clients manually yes.
    regards

    Hi:
Change control locking can be enabled through application designer. Go to Tools > Change Control > Administrator and select the options as desired. Refer to PeopleSoft Application Designer peoplebook for a detailed documentation on the same.

  • Using ACS for change control

I'd like to set up ACS server (integrated with Windows Active Directory) for router and switch so that all network administrator could use their active directory account to access network devices… and all activities will be logged on to ACS server. Currently we are sharing local administrative(on router and switch) account and I don’t have the visibility of who is doing what. The idea is to have more tight change control.
I'd like to have security group set up in Active Directory and have all the network admins within, and have them to use their network account to log into routers and switches. Is this possible?

Thank you, in that case I have some more questions(if you don't mind) to ask about your instruction.
    1. I only have RADIUS server(ACS 3.3). Do I need to purchase additional TACACS+ to accomplish this? or you just want me to add additional TACACS+/RADIUS attributes enabled per user?
    2. Is it possible to map 'Security Group' object instead of individual user?
    3. Please send me a sample CLI configuration for router(or switch).
Thank you very much for your help.

  • OWB 10gR2 - Security and Change Control

I am attempting to setup a customized change control policy in 10gr2. As part of change control, I'll need to setup security to only allow changes to objects that are scoped to the version. In previous versions, I could use WBSecurityServiceImpl. With 10gr2, it looks like the security is more tightly integrated into the control center and I am trying to determine the best strategy.
The interface to control changes in OWB will likely be written in Unix (ksh scripts that run tcl scripts in OMBPlus).
By default, users will have read-only access on all objects. If a change is required, they will need to "check out" the map. Only one user will be able to check out an object at any time. When a map is checked out, a snapshot will be made, and the user will be given access to edit the object.
Once the change is complete, the map will be "checked in", the edit priv will be revoked from the object, and a description of the change will be recorded in a table outside of the control center.
If developer determines that they do not want to make the change, they will simply "release" the object which will cause OWB restore the last snapshot.
If the change is checked in but it is later determined that we need to go back to a previous version of a map, we could "restore" the object from a previous snapshot from the command line.
That is my basic change control strategy. Has anyone attempted to do something similar? Could anyone see problems with this strategy?
I'd really appreciate some feedback from any OWB experts out there. Thanks.

    Hi,
you can use the security options in the project configuration. It's for new and old objects, there you can restrict the permissions.

  • Change Control for PM content

Even though I have heard some stuff from people before, I would like the experts here to give me some idea on this -- what is the best practice when it comes to Change Control of objects and content between Dev/Test/Prod environments, especially as it relates to Performance Management content (metrics, dashboards etc).
I know that Webi, Crystal, Xcelsius and other content along with Users/Groups etc should be fine, but not so sure about the PM content. Can someone shed light on what is the best way to achieve this Change Control? Some consultants had told us in the past that BIAR or Import Wizard does not support PM content so we have ended up developing everything in Production itself, so there is no need of moving or "promoting" any of that content.
We are running BO XI R2 SP3 on Windows. Any insight into this will be highly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Sarang

    Hi Sarang,
BusinessObjects XI Release 2 has the Performance Management Deployment Tool (PMDT) built by the product group, which enables you to move performance management assets (i.e. goals, metrics, and more) between development, test, and production environments on XI R2.
The PMDT is a complement to the Import Wizard and requires the user to follow a precise methodology.
    - With the PMDT, you can select which metric/asset you want to move between your repositories. So you can just move specific metrics as needed.
    - The PMDTv2 is now available for all the XIR2 SP2 customers (it will not work with a previous version).
    - The PMDTv2 is not being shipped with the XIR2 SP2 as the tool is in English only.
    - The PMDTv2 is free so it is not necessary for customers but just strongly recommended to follow the training.
You will be able to find the PMDT under the SAP Support Portal:
    https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/bosap-supportsw
Go to Downloads -> Business Objects Downloads
In the search criteria look for:
    Software product: BusinessObjects Performance Management
Product Version: i.e. XI Release 2
    Software type: Utility
It will be listed as PM Deployment Tool.

  • Change Control for package created in Modeler Perspective

    Hello,
We have created a package through modeler perspective and developed couple of views in it.
Want to enable change control for the same so we can transport only the view which has some changes in it.
I have couple of questions on how to achieve the same,
    1) Is there any functionality to get this done through modeler perspective itself ? by this I mean we do not create repository and other stuff
    2) What will happen if I activate the change control mechanism and make change to one of the view? if any developer checks out the package to his local repository and makes changes , will he be prompted to create a Change ID during activation ?
    Thanks In Advance,
    MM.

Hi Vikas, the projects used inside SSMS are not compatible with those in Visual Studio. So unfortunately you cannot open and manage them inside SSMS.
The best practices we recommend are that you do your development inside Visual Studio and then publish the .dacpac file created on project build to your database - you can do this using VS, SSMS or SqlPackage.exe from the command line.
If you do not want to use project-based development but do want TFS support for version changes, plenty of developers use SSMS for day-to-day changes and then use Schema Compare inside Visual Studio to sync those updates to a project and check these in.
This gives you some level of change management and backup support.
    Hope this helps,
    Kevin
