Change existing stock items from Non-Batch to Batch Management Method

Hi,
Any prerequisites before changing the existing stock items from Non-Batch to Batch Management method which have On hand stock qty? Please advise.
Thanks & Regards,
Priscilla

Hi
You can change the method only when, available Qty becomes zero.
OR
you can do one workaround :
Make Goods Issue of that Item and take value of stock in any GL,
and then change the method of that item, then make Goods Reciept by using that GL which was used in Goods Issue.

  • STO from non batch managed to batch managed - Incorrect batch being posted

    Hi Folks,
We use STOs to transfer materials from a non batch managed plant into a batch managed plant with a one step movement. The process we use is to create the STO and enter material, batch, quantity and receiving plant / Sloc. Then create an outbound delivery (which pulls through the correct batch) for the STO which we pick and PGI. The movements are a 647 out of issuing plant (no batch), a 647 into receiving plant (no batch) and a 101 into receiving plant (with batch).
The problem I have is that even though the correct batch is in both the STO and the delivery, when the one step PGI is done SAP ignores the batch and automatically creates a new one.
    Any one seen this before?
    Cheers
    Keith

Isn't possible the material once had been batch managed but later batch management was removed (and batches archived)? You can have a look at change hisotry of material master <-- update: forget this suggestion...you cannot remove batch management indicator if you have stock...
If the material is really not batch managed (you can find relevant record in MCHA table) then it seems you have inconsitency in your system; it's better you report this error to OSS.

  • Converting from non-batch to batch management

    Hi guys,
Can you tell what is the best strategy to convert a system from non-batch managed to batch managed? Batch management should have been implemented from the start, but my client just realized that mistake. This is knowing that we already have inventory and all kinds of transactional data: purchase orders, sales order, production orders...
I am looking for the less painfull strategy, as detailed as possible.
    Thank you.

    HI,
    Hi,
Procedure to be followed to activate Batch Management for Materials: -
    1. Mark Deletion Flag for all the Open Purchasing Documents of Materials
    2. Technical Completion of Production Orders to cancel open Reservations of Materials
    3. Create a Dummy Material for Material (Batch Management Active)
    4. Generate details of Unrestricted Stock of Materials as per Bill of Entry
    5. Transfer Stock of Materials to Dummy Material using Movement Type "309" in previous period (Stock will be transferred Bill of Entry wise)
    6. Activate batch Management for Materials
    7. Transfer Stock from Dummy Material to Materials
    Note: -
    1) If there is stock available in previous period and also stock available in current period then Transfer Posting from Material to Material can be done directly in previous period. (Comparison of Tables MARD and MARDH)
    2) In case if there is stock in previous period but no stock available in current period then we have to post an initial stock entry using movement type "561" to generate stock in current period (Here Quantity = Stock in Previous period)
    3) Reverse these Material Documents in previous period
There are several SAP notes that give some useful information:
30656 Change base unit of measure/batch mngt requirement
    533383 Resetting batch management requirement
    533377 Conversion of batch level
    I hope this helps!

  • Changed Material from non-batch to batch-managed

    Dear Gurus,
Could anyone advise on the steps that I need to perform in order to change the material from non-batch to batch-managed in the material master?
There are stocks being captured in current month and previous month
Hope to hear from you soon.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Batch management for existing material can not be done if it has stock and value. You can keep stock value NIL (By reversing) and then proceed with batch management.Batch Management you doing means , you just subdividing the material according to its characterstics of material.
    The Customisation steps are:
    1.Create Characterstics,
    2.Create Class,
3.In material master, select classification view and tick batch management
4.Go to Logistic General->Batch Management->Batch Det and back Chk->Condition table-> Define Inventory Management Condition table
4.2 . Like wise Define Acess Sequense,
    4.3.Strategy Types,
    4.4.batch Serch Procedure,
    4.5.Batch Srech Procedure and allocation,
    4.6..Condition Record: Logistic->Central Function->Batch Management-> Batch Determination->Batch serch Stratergy->For Inventory Manament-> Create
Once you do all customising steps,Then you can receive the material as per you requirement.Example....Lets say H2SO4,you are receiving 98%,70% and 50% purity.According to you requirement and supply from Vendor you can keep in three different batches. This characterstic of material you can maintain in creating the characterstic ,,step-1.

  • Changing SLED date on non Batch Managed Materials

Is it possible to change the SLED date on QUANTS for Materials that are not batch managed?  This date is originally recorded in the Goods Receipt (MIGO).
The SLED is displayed in the LS24 Bins Stock per Material Report.
Where this is incorrect on Batch Managed Materials the SLED date can be changed on the Batch in MSC2N, however for non Batch Managed Materials it does seem possible to change it.

The SLED field only exists in the quant when shelf life management is active in Materials Management (MM). This happens when the material master is maintained accordingly.
During a stock placement in MM you can enter either the production date or the shelf life expiration date. This depends upon whether the field Remaining shelf life has been maintained in the material master record. For example, if 10 days have been entered into this field, the system assumes that when goods are received, the production date was entered and calculates the shelf life automatically. If you leave this field empty in the material master, the system makes it possible for you to directly enter the shelf life expiration date.
This date that is entered or calculated during the goods receipt is then noted in the quant that is created in the storage bin. If you add stock to an existing quant in a storage bin, the shelf life expiration date of the new quantity that is added is lost.

  • What movment types used for stock transfer from Non-WM sloc to WM sloc?

    Hello experts,
Can some one tell me , what movment types used for stock transfer from Non-WM sloc to WM sloc in the same plant through MB1B?
    Thanks

    Hi
When I try to use the Movement Type 311 with Tcode MB1B, in order to move the stock from IM storage Locations to WM storage Locations, I do create the Material Document Successfully, but when I try to convert the Material Document to Transfer Order, I get the message "select atleast one storage type first", but there is no storage type appearing on the screen.
Can you please help me to resolve the above issue.
    Thanks.

  • Stock ageing report with batch Management active

    Hi Experts,
My client wants a Stock ageing report and batch management is active
According to my client, Inventory ageing report should show stock quantities and stock value as follows,
    1. Below one year
    2. Between one and two years
    3. Above two years
What are the table and fields to be considered for this report.
    Thanks
    NDS

What steps do you mean? taking an ABAP course and doing it yourself, or stepping to an ABAPer and let him know what he shall do?
you asked for a stock report, not for a movement report.
If I go into my warehouse and looking at all the stuff sitting there and want a report that should tell me how old this stuff is, then i am not intrested if there was a goods receipt movement.
However I would like to know the last movement date. In this case you have to look into table S032 or into the movements MSEG (with MKPF as header table)

  • Selected Serial/Batch Management Method can't be canged

    Dear All,
I could not change selected serial/batch management method. it is blocked. is it possbile to change it ? Let me know.
    Rgds,
    Edu

    Hello,
I copied the answer directly from SAP Notes, here it is :
The option to change the method specified in the Manage Item by field is blocked both from within the application and via the DI, unless all the following conditions are fulfilled:
The In Stock (=on hand) quantity of the item must be zero in each and every warehouse.
The available quantity of serial numbers created for the item must be zero in each and every warehouse.
The available quantity of batch numbers created for the item must be zero in each and every warehouse, as well as:
o There are no open Sales Orders for this item with allocated batch numbers.
o There are no open A/R Reserve Invoices for this item with allocated batch numbers.
The following queries provide you with relevant information about the items you maintain in your database (relevant for SAP Business One 2005 A SP01 PL: 18 and higher):
       1. To find all items that are currently managed by batches and can NOT be changed to "not managed by batch", generate the following query:
    select distinct t0.itemcode, sum(isnull(t1.onhand,0)) in_stock, sum(isnull(t2.quantity,0)) on_batch, sum(isnull(t2.IsCommited,0)) allocated
    from OITM T0 INNER JOIN OITW T1 ON T0.ItemCode = T1.ItemCode
    INNER JOIN OIBT T2 ON T0.ItemCode = T2.ItemCode and t1.whscode = t2.whscode
    where t0.manbtchnum = 'Y'
    group by t0.itemcode
    having (sum(isnull(t1.onhand,0)) <> 0 or sum(isnull(t2.quantity,0)) <> 0 or sum(isnull(t2.IsCommited,0)) <> 0)
       1. To find all items that are currently managed by serial numbers and can NOT be changed to "not managed by serial numbers", generate the following query:
    select distinct t0.itemcode, sum(isnull(t1.onhand,0)) in_stock,
    count(status) available_serials
    from OITM T0 INNER JOIN OITW T1 ON T0.ItemCode = T1.ItemCode
    INNER JOIN OSRI T2 ON T0.ItemCode = T2.ItemCode and t1.whscode =
    t2.whscode
    where t0.mansernum = 'Y' and t2.status = 0
    group by t0.itemcode
    having (sum(isnull(t1.onhand,0)) <> 0 or count(status) > 0)
Let me know if you need further assistance.

  • Change G/L Account from Non Open Item Managed to Open Item Managed

  • Returning non stock items from a return sales order

    Hello Everyone:
I have a return sales order that I am receivi9ng an error meesage on for only two of the line items...
The Error Message is "update Control of movement type is incorrect (entry 651 X__L)...the other items on the sales order that are being returned are not having this issue only these two non stock items.
i looked in OMJJ and see my movement type  and everything....I am making the assumption that this is due to the material type being non stock...they do not have a MRP view either....the VOV5 also shows the item category for the non stock item with DN...what am I missing...please help...thanks in advancve...

Thanks for you replies...However I would not want a stock transport order receipt for this which is what the "X" would be...this is a customer return from a sales order...again this works for stock material that is being returned by the customer...it is not working for a non stock material only.  That is my issue..it is only erroring out on the non stock item category only....I am MM and have stepped into a position that was previiously handled by another...I have not ran into this error before so help would be appreciated.....Thanks in advance...

  • MIGO Print label WEE1 for non stock items from GR for PO

    Hi,
I added logic to print new label into printing program MZ07DETI which is printing labels for stock items. My label is for non stock items. The problem is that for non stock items printing process is not triggered. I created PO with Account Assign. Category F, P or K no material number and no storage location. For this type of PO no print possible during GR posting. Is any set up available in IMG to make it work. I appreciate any response.

    Hi,
Please check up if there is any default value at the plant level;in case of such default, the system will post to the GL Account defaulted, not with standing the "standard item category".Better checkup if any cost center /order has been assigned.
The GL item is defaulted thro'the item category. If both the goods and services have been defaulted to the same GL  Account, then not with standing the type [ie] whether goods or services, the system will post tot he same GL Acct.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards.

  • Stock transfer between Batch and Non Batch managed Plants

    Hi
Plant A is Batch Managed and Plant B is not batch managed.
When I do STO, I want the Batch data from Plant A to be stored in some custom tables (when Inbound delivery is received in Plant B) as it is required for any recall and outbound purposes.
Batch level is unique at Plant level.
Please advise how can I go through the above scenario.
    Thanks
    Prabhakar

    Hi Prabhakar
In STO, the supplying plant is the vendor (batch managed).
So, you may workout for an enhancement to fetch the supplying plant's batch number on to the vendor batch (Field: LICHA) during Goods receipt.
However, incase multiple batches, you should look for lines items in goods receipt.
    warm regards

  • Inventory number and value to be made zero on an existing stock item!

    Hi Guys,
How can a Inventory ( Stock item that is already in warehouse) be written off or made zero in item number and value?
    Regards,
    Harsha

    Hi Harsha......
The right way to make the stock zero is going though Stock Tracking and Stock Posting.
Go to Inventory>Inventory Transactions>Inventory opening Balances and Stock tracking and Stock Posting-->Stock Tracking and made it count by all the qty in warehouse and then go to Stock Posting and press reconcile for Difference qty.....
This will make your Stock as well as value zero.......
    Regards,
    Rahul
