Change field description with SDK

Hi,
I can change the description of a field in a SAP B1 form by holding the "Ctrl" key and double clicking on the description. Is there a way to do the same with the SDK?

Yes, use the DynamicSystemStrings object.

Translate a changed field description in Web Dynpro

Dear all,
i have changed a the field description "Accounting Number" into "Personnel Number" in a Web Dynpro.
(via SE80 -> Package GRAC_ACCESS_REQUEST -> Web Dynpro Application GRAC_OIF_REQUEST_SUBMISSION -> Tab "User details")
If I test to dipslay the Web Dynpr in German or Englisch, I have the same description in Englisch.
Does someone now, how to translate the field description.

Changing Field Description in T.Code FBCJ

Hi SAP Gurus,
I am facing a problem with the T.Code FBCJ. In our organisation we have several branches where they use to save the Cash Payment transactions, they do not post it.While posting the transaction at HO, if the authorised person finds that "Business Transaction" assigned to the line item is not correct and wants to correct the Transaction, the system does not permit for that. As the field where changes required remains in DISPALY MODE only. Then please help me how to go for the change in that particular Field of "Business Transaction".
Please help me ASAP.

Hi Rajesh,
When you save a transaction in cash journal system updates your cash register and it generates a cash document number and this is different from the accouting document number. At the time of posting system posts this transaction into accouting and generates an accounting document.
If system allows you to change the business transaction at the time of posting, then it means two different business transaction assignment for the same cash transaction, which should not be the case and is also not possible. Posting just posts the document in to accounting and if you want to change the business transaction, you need to cancel it and create it with the right business transaction.

Can any one tell me how to change Field Description in standard screen.? No user exits available and without access key.
Ex :- if field description is DATE. i want to change it to 'Test Date'.
i dont want to change it Data element level.
Please do not give CMOD solution

Hi
If you don't want to use CMOD (changing the description for all system) nor use access key, changing the standard, you can create your own report, with the same screen, changing the name and after do a SUBMIT with your selection screen on the standard selection screen (standard report). Of course, it will be a customer development. It's an idea.

I work with Data Merge, but my description field data have comma in text, occurring a problem when load to Indesign, when i exclud de field description with comma the action occur perfectly. Have solunction to this?

Hi Peter, i dont have problems with =concatenate on excel, and i think who you formula is wrong. i use exactly =CONCATENAR(A2&","&B2&","&C2) and works perfectly.
My problem is with commas in texts, see comma B2
indesign recognizes it as the delimiter and wraps the text to another field, ok?
i use quotes eg: B2( "Dias melhores, para sempre") to delimiter text like the example
when I load the data source InDesign does not recognize the quotes and breaks lines
the text "Dias melhores, para sempre" have to show on <<slogan>> but

customer use quotation and quotation date fields for other purposes thus need to change field description to make it more sense. I followed below link and changed qutotation..but same solution didn't apply to quotation date (data element IHRAN)

Use Quotation date in PO header as an example.
Prerequisite: You might need a access key to access below steps.

IOS 8: The textbox to change the description field of the iCloud email account no longer exists

The textbox to change the description of the iCloud email account that existed in all previous versions of iOS, and is available for all other types of email accounts under iOS 8, appears to have been removed. Without this textbox, it is not possible to change the default description of "iCould", or to change a description that was set with a previous version of iOS. The description field still exists, as the value that I set on a previous version of iOS is still being used by some of my iOS devices, but there is currently no way to change it via the current iOS 8 UI. The description field is available to change for all other kinds of email accounts.

Confimed. And I hope they put it back soon.
I used an iCloud backup to transfer everything on my iPhone 5s to my iPhone 6. The (modified) description for my iCloud account transferred and appears the way I want it to appear on my iPhone 6. However, it cannot be changed.
Alternatively, I also have a new iPad Air 2 that I set up as a completely new iPad (i.e. I did not transfer anything from an older iPad). The iPad shows the description for my iCloud account as the default: "iCloud." It, too, cannot be changed.
True, this is only a minor annoyance, but it would be less of an issue if Apple had not removed a feature that previously existed in iOS 7.
I'm not sure if the removal was intentional or unintentional, but, again, I hope this gets fixed soon. In the meantime, I would be interested in anyone can find a workaround.

Changing the description field in AP Invoice

Hi is it possible to change the description field in an 'open' posted AP or AR invoice? I assume you have to credit note the invoice and re enter it with the new line item description which seems a long way around when only the text is being changed and not the coding or amounts.

All marketing documents, whether closed/open, do allow the user to change the remarks/narrantion. This field is located in the Footer Fields - left corner of the form.

WAD: change variable description in Info Field

Hi guys,
I have created a Web Template with the Web Application Designer (WAD). Using an Info Field item (Info Filed properties > Data Binding > Text Element Type > Variable Value ) I displayed the variable filter value used to launch the Web Template. The available values are: Default, Manual and Listed. I have to choose one of the listed variable changing the variable description. I tried to change it also changing the XHTML code, but launching the Web Template the system automatically recalls the original variable description.
Can anyone let me know how I can do it?

We cant do this WAD , need to do it in query designer.( Cant edit a query in WAD)
If u want to change the descriptions of the chars u created, u can do it in the infoobject level it self.

I have a requirement where in i have to change the decription of the field " sales district" to "cluster" in the customer master.Can anybody please guide me how to do that??I have tried to go to SE11 against the table KNVV & searched for VKBUR field to change the description but wasnt able to navigate further to resolve the issue.

use transaction cmod. In the menu point GoTo -> Text enhancements -> Keywords -> change. You will see a pop up Key in your data element. Now you can change the field describtion.

Can i change the description of a field in a SAP QUERY report in the output of the report.or only the standard descriptions can be displayed.

HI,
in query maintenance (sq01) you can change the text of the field at the selection screen (change the selection text in the screen where you choose the selection fields) and the header text in the output list (basiclist maintennace , go to "basic list header", double-click each header field to maintain the text). This change is only for the particular query. No ABAP-er required to do so.

Changing address book field name with automator

can anyone advise how to change a field in multiple contacts using automator, ie i need to change either the 'work mobile', or 'home mobile' field to the simple 'mobile' so as to fix the phone book error i now have on my sony p900 since the recent 10.4.6 update rebuilt the phone version of my addressbook,
the mobile now will not recognise the changed fields as mobile phones but as land lines, making the sending of sms etc difficult.
As i have over 400 contacts this is a pain indeed....
any genius scripters out there who can both help and explain?

Hi,
According to your description, the name of a address list container is changed through Exchange management tool. However, Outlook clients still show the old name.
In this case, I recommend you recreate a new profile to check the result. I test it and the address list updates in Outlook client only after I recreate the profile.
