Change Jinitiator 1.1.8.7

Dear All..
I tried to change JInitiator version from 1.1.8.7 into 1.1.8.16 to overcome P4 problem.
1. When I deinstall v.1.1.8.7 and install v.1.1.8.16 and try to operate the application the system still ask me to install 1.1.8.7 otherwise it halted the operation.
2. when I change the formsweb.cfg parameters with classid of v.1.1.8.16 the application show me an empty IE browser with "done" word at console, I mean the application dosn't work...
please advice me about the steps in detials..
thanks
hayder

Make sure you changed the necessary settings in the HTML file that launches the application.
1) Change the classid.
2) Change the JInitiator version in the codebase.
3) Change the JInitiator version in the TYPE parameter.
4) Change the JInitiator version in the TYPE parameter in the EMBED tag.
See pieces of an HTML file below:

  • JInitiator 1.3.1.21

    Hi All,
I am totally new to Oracle Apps.
After going through a lot of documentation and forum articals I have successfully installed the 11i on my notebook.
I can log on to the DB both as 'System/manager' and 'apps/apps', works great.
I can access the Oracle Application through the URL using the 'operations/welcome' login IDs, access the Navigator. But when I Click System Administrator/and Define User it tries to download 'JInitiator 1.3.1.21' but cannot find the plugin. I have downloaded the new replacement of JInitiator 1.3.1.22 but still it is looking for the above. to me it looks like something is telling the application to download that particular version which it cannot fine.
Is it the formsweb.cfg that has this hard coded, if so If I change JInitiator 1.3.1.21 to JInitiator 1.3.1.22 what else I have to change and what is the complete configuration I have to follow...
I have tried to open the application on IE 8.0, FireFox, Netscage Navigater without any success.
I have recently purchased a Dell notebook which was downgraded to XP sp3, the HD is 320, dual 2.0 Intel Processor, and the Ram is 4 G.
    any help is appriciated...

Try first with IE, and make sure you add the application URL to the trusted sites list.

There is a certain procedure you have to follow in case you want to upgrade Jinitiator.
I have tried to open the application on IE 8.0, FireFox, Netscage Navigater without any success. IE 8.0 is not yet supported/certified with Oracle Apps 11i/R12.

  • Oracle financials crashes in firefox and ie

    Hi,
I'm new so thanks in advance for any help.
oracle financials (OF) crashes both firefox and IE. I've changed jinitiator versions, jre versions, firefox (3.5.2 and 3.0.x) and IE versions (7 and 8) and still OF crashes the browser. There's no error message- just a window that says the browser crashed. I've installed different versions of everything in an effort to match the configurations of different computers on our network where OF is working fine, and it still crashes for this one user at the same window- after the responsibility page.
I gave the user a newly imaged computer and everything worked fine for a few days. Today it just quit working for her. One thing she said she had done right before everything stopped working was run ms access. She didn't have the new laptop's odbc configured yet so she didn't even do anything other than open the software. It seems like these things are related, but I don't know. She's able to log into OF, but as soon as she clicks a link like "Batch" and the java magic starts the browser goes kaput.
I don't have any experience with OF so other than changing the jre, jinitiator or browser version I'm at a loss. The IT department is stumped since it works for other people.
Does this strike a chord with anyone?

    Fixed.
Start > My Computer (right-click) > Properties > Advanced > Settings (Performance) > Data Execution Prevention > Turn on DEP fro all programs and services except those I select:
    Internet Explorer
    Firefox
Java (traversed to the java.exe through C:\Program Files\Oracle\bin
Probably not a supported fix, but she's up and running again. If anyone has comments, please let me know.

  • Changing the looking like of JInitiator?

Is it possible to change the "looking like" of the Jinitiator-Applet???
    for example another icon.
    Also the text:
"Oracle Developer Forms Runtime - Web" is not really usefull. Also the "Oracle Developer Server"-image while loading the fmx is not usefull ... I would like to change that all.
    Does anybody knows how?
... or simply tell me, that it is not possible = (

you can add some parameters to your html file to control the way forms displays thing
splashScreen=NO will eliminate the splash image
    webformsTitle can control the title.
you can find a list of all of them on metalink.oracle.com :

    Hi,
I'm developing an Oracle application with Oracle Form Builder and I would need to change browser title from my Applet, when a procedures throws when I press a button.
    Thanks a lot.

If you use SeparateFrame=true, you can use WebUtil_SeparateFrame.SetTitle

  • Jinitiator 1.3.1.2.6 on win 7 64 and win xp (different file.encoding)

    Hello,
our customer has moved from windows XP to Windows 7 and he uses Jinitiator 1.3.1.2.6...
In some "Forms" I have implemented a PJC to save datas from clob to local file system..
    But there is a problem....
If I run the same application with Windows XP I get file.encoding=Cp1250 which is ok....
If I run the same application with Windows 7 (64) I get file.encoding=CP1252 and here is the problem...
Is there any way to run Jinitiator (or set up file.encoding to/with) Cp1250?
Maybe is this a local problem with windows?
    thank you..

First, I will start by saying that JInitiator was not intended to run on Win7, especially 64bit. So, it may be time to think about moving to the Java Plugin. Preferably one which is certified with your Forms version.
To your issue, I suspect you need to change the "Region and Language" settings on the client machine. This can be found on the Control Panel. If that doesn't help, take a look at this:

  • Problem with Jinitiator 1.3.1.9 , Windows 7,  IE 8

    Hi,
We have a problem running Jinitiator 1.3.1.9 (Forms f60servlet) on Windows 7, IE 8. We can start the application, and run the forms with no problem but when we change to another application (ALT+TAB) and we try to return , the browser (IE 8) that was running the forms (f60servlet) doesn't refresh (dies literally) .
Previously we were working with Windows XP and everything was correctly, but recently the company decided to migrate to windows 7.
Do you know what is the problem?. Any advice?
We know that our versions are very old (forms, Oracle) must be updated , but it is a legacy application and is not easy to migrate ASAP.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi John,
Can u try the work around mentioned in the below link
    http://notsomany.wordpress.com/2010/03/30/jinitiator-working-on-windows-7/
Also some times IE8 can block the webutil_file_transfer.
AS_to_Client if "protected mode" is ON for the security zone your forms url is in (look in the statusbar in IE ->
internet, trusted site, ... -> protected mode: On/Off)
    Regards

  • Jinitiator with a Proxy

Problem loading Jinitiator applet with proxy.
I have been successful in running a forms 6i web app without
going through a proxy. But I have a few customers who use a
proxy and they get the following error in the Java Console:
File not found when looking for: oracle.forms.engine
    java.lang.nullpointerException:
At this point the applet just stops loading.
Is there a work around when using a proxy with Jinitiator?
    Thanks for your reply,
    Randy

Thank you for the information. The PATCH 8 White paper was
useful. Now here is a stupid question.....Where do I get the
Patch 8 for Forms 6i for Windows NT?
    Thank you,
    Randy
Yes you can but you need to be running the Forms Listener Servlet
and you need to make a few changes in the browser to ensure the
cookie gets sent will all requests.
This is all documented in the PATCH 8 White paper which is on teh
    Forms OTN page.

  • Some reports are not displayed -- JInitiator 1.3.17 to JRE 1.6.43

We have our Medical Suite developed using Oracle Forms 10gR1(9.0.4) version. As we came to know that JInitiator is no more supported from Oracle and it has many problems Windows 7 64 bit esp.., with IE (9.0) recently we have migrated the Client PC's from JInitiator 1.3.17 to JRE 1.6.43.
Unfortunately when we print the reports, some of the reports are being displayed and the other reports are not being displayed ( No action upon on clicking print button).
But when we revert back to JInitiator all the reports are working fine without any change in IE configuration. So can someone give me the probable cause for this behaviour.

If the parameter are written in multiple lines using concatenation then there is no problem, but some places we made the DESTYPE OR CACHE OR DESFORMAT in different lines and it is working fine when we used Jinitiator 1.3.17.
Once we changed to JRE, it stopped working maybe because the command cannot be issued to browser since it is incomplete.
Is 10.1.2.3 a stand alone patchset given by Oracle for migrating 10g R1 to 10g R2 or there are some other patches given before this patchset(10.1.2.3).
I am asking this because most of the times, Oracle releases a patch in sequential order and they should be installed in the same order.
For example In order to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 5 (10.2.0.5), we must have 10.2.0.1.0 (10.2.0.2.0 for Windows) release up and running. So I was not sure whether this patch can be installed alone without any other combinations directly. Please enlighten me if you can.
    Hi Chaitu,
patchset(10.1.2.3) is applicable for the following releases only:
    Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.0)
Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 Standard Edition One (10.1.2.0.1)
    Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)
Oracle Application Server Forms and Reports Services (10.1.2.0.2)
Oracle Application Server Portal 10g Release 2 (10.1.4)
Oracle Application Server Portal 10g Release 2 Patch Set 2 (10.1.4.1)
    Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2)
    Oracle Business Intelligence 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    Oracle Business Intelligence 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)
Oracle Business Intelligence Tools 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
Oracle Business Intelligence Tools 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)
Oracle Business Intelligence Tools 10g (10.1.2.0.2) that shipped as part of Oracle Developer Suite 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    OracleAS 10g Release 2 Patch Set 1 (10.1.2.1.0)
    OracleAS 10g Release 2 Patch Set 2 (10.1.2.2.0)
    Hope this helps

  • JInitiator 1.3.1.28 crashes IE

    Hello,
First I apologize if this is the wrong area to post this. here is my situation.
I have large amount of individuals running Windows XP SP2, (Ie6 & Ie7), (J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 6 & Java 2 Runtime Environment SE 1.4.2_09), (Oracle 10.2 or Oracle 9.2), and with of course Jinitiator 1.3.1.28. The web based app that they all access immediately downloads and installs Jinitiator 1.3.1.28 the first time it is used. Most, if not all of them are know receiving the following error "SysFader: iexplore.exe Application Error The instruction at "0x0c41fdb3" referenced memory at "0x00000044." The memory could not be "read." Needless to say its not a memory problem. I find that by uninstalling the Jinitiator, then accessing the site to reinstall the Jinitiator works and launches the java based login window, but only once. As soon as IE 6 or 7 are closed out the sysfader error returns ever time until you uninstall and reinstall Jinitiator again.
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas, please let me know if you require any further information.
    Mark

    sss, thanks for your response,
The java jinitiator 1.3.1.28 is installed on the client PC the first time that they access the website, they should be able to return to the site and log in with no further installs required. Instead when the users return to the site the jinitiator....initializes.....and instantly crashes IE. The only way for the user to log in again is for us techs to uninstall the Java jinitiator and allow the website to reinstall. It seems like something is changed as soon as IE is closed that causes the Jinitiator to no longer function properly. I unfortunately do not have access to the server this app resides on, nor can I disable any script blockers in the locked down antivirus software. I will check into this script blocking that you speak of though.
Once again I appreciate the response.

  • JInitiator 1.3.1.22 vs. 1.3.1.18: Are they completly separate installed ?

Actual situation: We have several huge forms-applications running with JINItiator 1.3.1.18. No problem.
Now we have one new forms-application developed, which runs on Forms 10g Rel. 2 with JInitiator 1.3.1.22. Some PC's now need the 1.3.1.22-installation parallel to their 1.3.1.18 installation.
In our test-environment the guys found out, that the JInitiator-Installation will change registry-keys for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\javaw.Exe and some other keys.
They fear, that installing 1.3.1.22 on a PC where 1.3.1.18 is running changes permanently the destination for "javaw.exe". That may be no problem, but the test-guys say: "You have to test the whole big old application on 1.3.1.18, before we install 1.3.1.22"
What should we do? We have to use 1.3.1.22 for our little application and we have no time to check, if the old application with 1.3.1.18 is running as before...
    Any ideas ?

You can run as many Jinits on the same machine as your hard drive can hold as long as they are versions 1.3.1.10 or newer. Only the one which is called in the CLSID or mime type (of the html) will be used.
Also, javaw is not called when running applets.
You can prove all of this with SysInternals FileMon:
    http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html
However, as already mentioned, you will not be able to run multiple versions from within an existing browser session. This will cause the browser to crash.

  • Jinitiator 1.3.1.9 install problem

Hi, we've installed Jinitiator 1.3.1.9 onto P4 client machines. The client is running Win2K SP2, and IE 6. The install appears to work, and prompts for the PC to be restarted. However, when trying to run the Jinitiator control panel (via windows control panel ) nothing happens - the process just hangs. A similar problem occurs when we try and access the 9ias forms server. We've tried all sorts of things - reinstalling, new versions etc. Are there any known issues with this? has anyone had a similar problem?!?

    Hi,
can u try to work on 9ias after change the name of file symjit.dll to symjit_old.dll then it will work .
    this file will be in c:/programfiles/oracle/jinitiator 1. . . / bin area .
    Thanks & Regards,

  • 9i forms demo problem with jinitiator 1.3.1.9

I'm trying to install the 9i forms demo from http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/forms/index9i.html
The install says it uses jinitiator 1.3.1.9. If you want to use another version, edit the forms90demo.cfg file. We have 1.3.1.17 and I edited the cfg file, but none of the demos will come up. I get "The page cannot be displayed" error. Our port is 8889 and the launchdemo90.html file is looking for 8888. I changed it to 8889 in the IE address field but the pages still won't come up.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
