Change Passcode lock from numeric to alphabetic.

I have an iPhone 3G and have a passcode lock set.Recently I changed the password to a 4 numeric one and now I want to go back to an alphabetic password with more than 4 characters since it feels more safe. But now I cannot change it into anything other than a 4 numeric one.Searched all the posts in the forum and couldn't find a solution. Can anyone help me please.Tried the resetting option, didn't help.
Tahnks in advance.

The only way I know to do what you want is to download this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL851
And then:
# Click on the Passcode tab, and check Require Passcode on Device. Check the various options/restrictions you want to enable.
# When you are all done, click the Share button at the top of the window. An email will open with a configuration profile attached. Send the email to your iPhone.
# Open Mail on your iPhone, and open the message with the configuration profile attached. Click on the profile attachment, and then follow the on-screen prompts to install the profile and set your new long passcode.

I recently upgraded to a 5s. Set up passcode lock, but now find it is very inconvenient since I take a lot of pictures of my grandchildren. Please tell me how to take this passcode lock off of my new phone. Thank you in advance.

That's what the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the 5s is for! Why aren't you using it??  It's a bad, bad idea to disable the passcode lock

I have the iPhone 5 and with the new sofware update it added a passcode lock. Same for the iPad. I removed the passcode lock from my iPhone and now I can access my iPad. It is still asking for the four digit passcode. I tried using the one that was orgingally programed and it disables it every time. How can I get past this? I have tried to do a restore and it still takes me back to the lock screen. Please help!

  • If you have forgotten your passcode lock is the only way to unlock is from the original computer?

If you have forgotten your passcode lock is the only way to unlock the phone to connect to the original computer? Is there no way to connect to itunes? HELP!

Restoring as a new device means you will loose everything.  You can restore from a backup, but if that backup includes the same passcode you cannot remember now, then it will just put it back in place and you will be right back where you are.  If the backup does NOT include the passcode currently on the device, you can restore from that backup.
If restoring as new, you will loose any pictures in camera roll not already saved somewhere else (like your computer).  You will loose any contacts also not already saved somewhere else.
Once you've restored the iPhone though, you can re-sync the contacts and other content from your backup copies on your computer.  iTunes and App store content can always be redownloaded.

  • The passcode lock code at the iPhone 4 was broken into by a program from Internet. ( By connecting the phone to a PC that program tells the passcode) Does someone knows how to prevent unauthorized opening of iPhone? How to secure the passcode ?

My daughter has an iPhone 4 secured with passcode lock. A visitor in their house took her unattended iPhone, connected to the PC, from a certain program got her pascode and did open her phone to go through her private messages. Does someone knows how to prevent this? How to secure the Phone from unauthorized opening?
Thanks in advance for all suggestions!!!

    Hi igmusla,
It seems someone has stolen your daughters phone there is an application called FindMyiPhone if she had location services on and the thief hasn't disabled it you can possibly track the phone down. Sadly you cannot stop the thief from gaining access to her phone and personal information. Please report your phone stolen to your local police station and call Apple aswell, they can possibly put a lock on your phone aswell as put it into a carrier block which prevents the thief from calling anyone or putting a new sim card in it.

  • Load of XML datstore fails after change of PK in from numeric to varchar

I am facing the following problem.
I am trying to load an XML datastore (target) from an Oracle table (source) via an interface.
The primary key in the Oracle table is of data type varchar. However, the primary key in the XML datastore after reverse engineering is created as datatype numeric. When I change the data type of the XML data store PK from numeric to varchar and then execute the interface the load fails with error:
Wrong data type for input string.
Taking the geo_dim.xml in the ODI demo folder as an example I take the following steps:
    - I reverse engineered the geo_dim XML that creates amongst other things the Country datastore in the XML model
    - When reverse engineering, ODI adds surrogate PK keys to the XML datastore. These are of data type numeric.
    - I change this surrogate PK key to data type varchar via the ODI designer and load the XML via an Interface from an Oracle source table that has a PK of type varchar.
    - The load of the XML datastore fails with the error "Wrong data type for input string."
Looks like a bug to me. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    uli

I figured this one out myself. As part of the JDBC URL you can submit a parameter ni. If set to false this will generate FKs and PKs as varchar.
    It's in the documentation:
    numeric_id or ni
    No
    boolean (true | false)
    true
If set to true, all internal Primary and Foreign Keys are of NUMERIC type. Otherwise, they are of the VARCHAR type.

  • Passcode Lock Change

I don't want to put in my Passcode every time I swipe to use my iPhone 4G.
I have gone into Settings > General > Auto-Lock and changed it to 3 minutes.
However, the change in the setting doesn't seem to apply.
Am I missing a step someplace?
Thanks for your anticipated reply... b.

    Thanks!
I was going into Auto Lock and never went into Passcode Lock.

If you purchased the phone from a person, you need to find out which carrier they used and go to them to see if the will unlock it. If you purchased it from a carrier, give them a call to see what they will do.
Just like atlantabrave said...Apple does not unlock phones.
