Changing Checkbox options based on variables

What I need to create is an area that has 5-8 check-boxes, but the text beside those check boxes will change based an option that is selected in a drop down menu elsewhere in the file.
The reason I need to do this is due to lack of space and better work flow.
Can anyone help with this or any other possible way to do it?
I have used LiveCycle but not much coding.

You could change the caption of the checkboxes by using javascript..
on the CHANGE event of a drop down list, you could add script similar to:

P.S. Make sure you save the form as a dynamic form rather than static!

Did you add a break point and debug the code to see what is the value for the :empid parameters passed in to your view object?
If you are sure you have passed in the correct value for ":empid" parameter, then do the following:
String amDef = "yourAmDef";
String config = "yourConfig";

emplVO = am.findViewObject("EmployeeView1");

which will execute your view object with the new bind variable value and refresh the view.

Can you change the value of a variable that is reset by a parameter?

Sorry if this is simple but I just crashed a package and can't do an autopsy. I suspect I sent it into an infinite loop. I know you can't change the value of any passed in parameters. What I tried to do was have the parameter set the value of a variable
and then I tried to change the value of the variable. Is that even allowed?
I was trying to do this:
MyCheckVariable = MyParameter (which equals true)
(some cool stuff happens)
MyCheckVariable = False
I hit F5 and my package turned into the Energizer Bunny. Is the way I try to reset the variable the culprit?

This is a prototype so I just created a project parameter and set it to true. In the real world the parameter will be used to control an optional part of the process because on a re-run after error that part doesn't have to be ran again.
So when I say MyCheckVariable = MyParameter (which equals true) in reality what I actually have is in the variables window I'm using an expression and it looks like this in the variables window
name = runDownload
Scope = Package
Data Type = Boolean
Value = True (but greyed out)
Expression = @[$Project::param_runDownload]

Best practices for setting environment based static variables?

I have a set of static string variables that hold the url location of modules in a project. These locations change depending on whether I'm building for development, staging or production.
What's the best way to set static variables in this way?

I don't know if this is best practice, but here's the solution I've come up with.
The root domain is accessible within the swf via a node on a loaded xml file. So I created a simple method that sets a url variable based on that domain node.
The domain-based url variable is then used within the static string variables that define the location of the modules.
Simplified like so:

Changing station options programmatically

Hi
I am trying to change the Station Options programmatically (in a TestStand seq) rather than via the dialog. In particular, I want to change the "Immediately Goto Cleanup on Sequence Failure", although I will probably also want to change other options later.
I have succeeded in:
Getting the ConfigFile (PropertyObjectFile) using the Runstate.Engine reference
Getting the Data (PropertyObject) using the Configfile reference.
Setting "StopOnSequenceFailure" using SetValBoolean with the Data reference.
Saving the changes to TestExec.ini, using SaveFileIfModified with the ConfigFile reference.
However, the change only takes effect when TestStand is restarted, and does not show up in the StationOptions dialog (until a restart). Using the dialog, I can change the setting while stepping through a sequence, and it takes effect immediately, so there must be a way to do this from within a sequence.
How do I "refresh" TestStand's "copy" of the variable?

What Version of TestStand are you using?
I assume you are using the TestStand API.
You can get a reference to the StaionOptions Object from the Engine.

Gets a reference to the StationOptions object.
Remarks
Use the StationOptions object to set preferences for your TestStand station. Station option settings affect all sequence editor and operator interface sessions that you run on your computer.

Dynamically changing dropdown options in JCombox cell editor

Hi all,
I have a JTable with one column with JComboBox renderer and i am using the cell editor for that column as new DefaultCellEditor(JComBoBox renderer class).
My requirement is i want to change the dropdown options basing on another column value.
So what i did is in the setValueAt(...) function i got the table column renderer and as send the new values in a object to the renderer and in the getTableCellRendererComponent method i am checking the row number and setting the dropdown options to the JComboxBox. This works fine and the JComboBox is showing the new dropdown options correctly but when i click on the JcomboxBox cell it is showing the old dropdown options.
So my question is how can i change the values in the editor.
I tried like this in my setValueAt(..) functioin in my JTable model
( (my custom class) ((DefaultCellEditor) table.getColumnModel.getColumn(int)).getComponent).add(NewObject)
in the new object i am sending new dropdown values and row and column but it some how it is updating renderer but not editor. Please give me the solution

You can extend DefaultCellEditor the same way as you extend cell renderer.
After that you can set it back to your table using table.setCellEditor() method.

You could refer to the suggestions shared above, and if you get any issue when using that code, you could share the code and error with us, we will focus on your code to help you.
You could separate them into multiple steps, like the following.
1. Getting the value of any control, like the textbox and combobox or even checkbox.
2. Execute method inside button click event handler.
3. Using ado.net to execuate sql query.
4. Saving data to Excel.
Then you could have a try step by step, if you get any issue, then post it in another thread with the code and error message.

yes..you can achieve with one conditional formatting report..I am Talking about OBIEE reports only not publisher thing
1)upload all your images in /Images folder of server
2)create one Report with Company name column,click edit Column properties--> conditional formatting--->add conditions as required like Company name ='Oracle'-->In format window select Image and select Custom Image -->fmap:images/oracle.jpg-->in default select "Image only" option-->repeat for all images-->Make this company column as "is prompted" -->save the Report-->put this report on the dash board where that company prompt is available...and see results :).I implemented it successfully

You don't need to upgrade your software. But if you're struggling with Spry, IMO you should cut your losses and switch to something better for the longrun.
If you have a budget to work with, I highly recommend Project Seven's Pop-Menu Magic 3. It's easy to use in DW CS4, 5, 6 or CC. More importantly, it's bullet proof and works in all devices.

After upgrade to 10.10, can't send email (SMTP cert. error). On previous version running on another machine, can still send find. This new version is missing the "Usual Ports" checkbox option. Can someone please help?

I just upgraded to 10.10. On the mail program, one of my accounts is having an issue sending email. I am getting the following error message:
The certificate for this server is invalid.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.
But on another machine running Mavericks, I can still continue to send email. The same is try from my iPhone 5S.
On that machine running Mavericks the SMTP is configured as SSL and for "Usual Ports" (25, 465, 587) but THIS OPTION IS MISSING ON THE NEW VERSION. On the new version I have tried configuring the port to 25 and then 465 and 587 with no success. I have used the Network Utility to see if my provider is blocking me -- it is not. I have no third-party software on this machine (anti virus). I can receive email fine. On the new Yosemitie Mail there are new checkbox options of Automatically check my settings and Allow unsecure connections. I tried to uncheck SSL for SMTP but then it says it cannot send securely my passowrd and i need to check the option "Allow to send unsecurely". I did that but the same error message keeps appearing. So I have tried nearly everything I have been able to, all to no avail. Please can somebody help?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it is a POP account. Incoming mail is fine. My port for incoming is also 110. But the outgoing port should be 587 (or 24, 465 and 587 as on Mavericks' "Usual Ports" option). I am using the same configuration across three different devices and only the machine running Yosemite is having issues. I notice in the new version of Mail there is no longer the "Usual Ports" option. I am not sure this is the culprit or not. But the fact is no matter how I configure it, it will not send mail for these particular servers. I have multiple clients and only one is affected, meaning I can send email from other email addresses (different hosting contracts) on Yosemite but on this one particular one I cannot.

Can someone help me? How do I change the option to pick where or what program I want to open a file after I've downloaded it? I tried to look for an option for this and can't find it anywhere.

For example I download a file and I click on it and there will sometimes be a window that opens saying what program I want to open the file with? And then it'll also have a check box saying if I want to use this program for all files I download. I can't change it when I download the file because that one file I keep downloading keeps crashing my Firefox and I have to force quit. It's really getting on my nerves. It's an online statement I'm trying to view and I want to get rid of that problem!! Is there anyway to change that option without going to that download page?

I would recommend going into device manager on your PC and making sure that you have correctly installed the IR dongle. Also what version of hotsync manager are you currently using?

The system should automatically filter the lower level drop downs based on the selection of a higher level.
For e.g. :
If a user selects a Country then the States drop down should only display the State's belongs to the Country. Similarly when a State is selected, the District drop down should display only those District's belongs to the State.

i have a probleme changing the value of a variable in movieclip from my scene. i explain: I have combobox on my scene containing categories, and in the scene i load an xml file containing links to php files that work with the combobox.
Also on the scene i have a movieclip "filmstrip", inside this movieclip on the first frame i have a script loading the php file selected in the scene . i use a load() function with a variable "theUrl" inside like this : T.load(theUrl);.
In my scene i want to change the value of "theUrl" inside the movieClip filmstrip. I tried filmstrip.theUrl = url; But it doesnt work
