Changing device numbers

I have a tablet that the contract has run out. I want to swap the number it has with the number my phone has before I take the tablet off the account. What is the best way to accomplish this? Thanks.

You will first want to login as the account owner with your username and password. Have the device id's or ESN of both devices handy and follow these steps: http://vz.to/1jYPuCa If you are looking to cancel one of the number's, you would have to do so over the phone and give verbal consent. Internal disks changing device numbers

Cliff's Notes:
I have an SSD and an HDD (in place of the optical drive) in my MacBook Pro 6,2 (late '10). Originally, the SSD was reported as "disk0" and the HDD as "disk1"; but, as of last night, they seem to have switched designations. How did that happen? Is there a way to prevent it?
Long version:
I have a Western Digital 640GB HDD (WDC WD6400BEVT-22A0RT0) that was previously in my old (MBP1,1 '06) MacBook Pro and was the cause of a drop in performance because the drive heads were constantly parking (as discussed in this topic: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2250690). The issue was resolved using hdapm (also described in the linked thread) to set the drive performance to maximum.
When I got my new (MBP6,2 late '10) MacBook Pro, I replaced the factory HDD with a 128GB SSD and the optical drive with the 640GB Western Digital HDD. As with my previous MBP, the drive heads were constantly trying to park; so I created a LaunchDaemon script to run hdapm on startup. hdapm takes the device number as an argument when setting the drive's performance level (e.g. "hdapm disk0 max"), so I checked which device numbers were assigned to my SSD and HDD, respectively, using "mount". Originally, "mount" showed the SSD as "disk0" and the HDD (using the SATA connection normally taken by the optical drive) as "disk1", so I set up the LaunchDaemon with "disk1" in the ProgramArguments list.
This trick worked perfectly until last night. I noticed the drive heads were trying to park again, so I checked the logs and saw that hdapm reported failure when attempting to set "disk1" to max performance. I then ran "mount" and, sure enough, it's now reporting the SSD as "disk1" and the HDD as "disk0". So why are the device numbers suddenly switched? And is there a way to prevent it from happening?

Just setting up iCloud on my iMac, my problem is when trying to sign out/off from iCloud it comes up with a verification code that is being sent to my land line, I'd changed the numbers in my Apple ID and they show as changed but the land line number stil

Just setting up iCloud on my iMac 10.9.2, my problem is when trying to sign out/off from iCloud it comes up with a verification code that is being sent to my land line, I'd changed the numbers in my Apple ID and they show as changed but the land line number still shows as number that the verification code is being sent, I prompt "Don't have access to this phone" and that's no help at all. The only way I can sign out /off from iCloud is to uncheck everything that I wanted to keep in the cloud????

Skip the iCloud sign in for now.
Once you reach the home page, go to settings and sign out of FaceTime and Messages. This should also sign you out of iCloud.
Go to iCloud in settings and sign in with the correct Apple ID.
If that does not work
Skip the iCloud sign in
Go to Apple ID.apple.com and sign in
Change your Apple ID to the old one
Delete iCloud account on your device with the old Apple ID and the same password.
Go back to the website, change your Apple ID back to the current one. You will receive an email to verify the account. Verify first.
Sign into iCloud on your device with the correct Apple ID and password

I'm tring to install two Daqcard700's in same computer running Win2000 and Nidaq6.9.2 and the cards are not given two different device numbers by the NIDAQ device configuration wizard.

One Daqcard 700 and one daqcard 16x-50e in same machine work fine but two Daqcard 700's are not assigned two diferrent device numbers by the device configuration wizard.

I have this same problem with the previously described observations. I tried two Daqcard-700s in three different laptops, two with Windows XP and One with Windows 2000. Tried all suggestions in Knowledgebase and Forum I could find with no luck. Single cards work ok. Removed and reinstalled drivers in Device Manager. Tried the Windows 2000 patch for this problem. Changed the PCMCIA adapters on the laptop to Generic Cardbus Controller from one suggestion. Running Labview 6.1 with Ni-Daq 6.9.3 and Max 3.1. Tried also Max 2.1.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How to change device names?

This questions revolves around three V490s.
- All are connected to the same raid.
- All have cards in the same slots.
- One box had only 1 internal drive, two came with 2 internal drives.
- All have stmsboot enabled.
- When doing a format, 2 boxes show the paths to be the same (ie, c6txxxxx), 1 box shows the path to be different (ie, c4txxxx).
How do I go about changing the device name so that the c4txxx on the one box matches the c6txxxx devices name on the other two boxes?
- I have inserted a secondary drive into the 1 box, rebooted with -r. No difference.
- I removed the path_to_inst, rm c4txxx* entries from /dev/[r]dsk, and rebooted with -ras options. No difference.
- I manually edited the path_to_inst to use same device numbers (entry in 2nd column) as is used in the other 2 boxes' path_to_inst files, rm c4txxx* entries from /dev/[r]dsk, rebooted -r. Still no difference.
- I tried using a path_to_inst direct from one of the 2 boxes that have the matching device names. No difference.
I'm quickly running out of options. The device names are supposed to be the same for the Oracle ASM application. Anyone have any ideas or experiences they can share concerning this matter? Thanks.

In single user mode, edit /etc/path_to_inst and renumber the device.
You probably want to halt and do a boot -r after this.
The best way to figure out which lines to change.
Run format and note the device path for the controller in question.
Then search for that line in the file.
This is all completely unsupported and at your own risk. You might want to experiment on a test server before doing it to a machine you care about....

MAX 5.3.1 removed Device numbers from SCXI-1600

Old system - Works! : Labview 9.0 on Dell laptop win XP.
I have a client that uses multiple laptops & multiple SCXI chassis with 1600 USB DAQ controller mod. Each time a “new” 1600 was used a new SCXI chassis was installed and the new 1600 was given the next device number (Ex. Dev1, Dev2, Dev3). I would use the DAQmx System class Node, DevNames property to see which device I had and go from there. (Note: this still worked on LV ver. 11 & MAX 5.x ?)
I upgraded to LV 2012 (32 bit) fix#3 with MAX 5.3.1 and the Device number (Dev1) is now replaced with “Mod1”! I know I could program a workaround, but I would rather have the names go back to the old Device numbers!

Hi Tom,
Thank you for posting. I recently noticed this problem and reported it to R&D as CAR #362997. The change of SCXI-1600 default name from "Dev1" to "Mod1" seems to have been introduced in NI-DAQmx 9.4. I can't guarantee anything, but the fix is currently on track to go into the next version of NI-DAQmx (excluding patch releases).
For now, I'm afraid you'll have to work around the problem. Here are a few ways you can do that:
Manually rename the device in MAX on each system.
Programmatically rename the device using the NI System Configuration API. Look at <LabVIEW>/examples/nisyscfg/Rename Aliases.vi for an example.
Change your application to use a different default name or to detect the device differently (e.g. using the DAQmx System >> DevNames and DAQmx Device >> ProductType properties).

But I am scared to death to try. I get connected without a hitch now, and I do NOT want to disturb that!!! I don't know what I am doing with this, but if it will improve the speed and stability of my dial-up connection so I can successfully download and install my updates, I will risk it.

99.999999% safe and easy to undo, but to make it even nearer 100%...
In the Network Pref Pane, choose the Location drop down, choose Edit Locations, then choose Duplicate... now you have one you can paste those numbers into, and just switch Locations back if need be without changing any numbers.
It's safe though anyway really.:-)

Regarding the old iMac. Just delete your USER NAME from the Control Panel. Go into System Preferences - then User/Groups and delete your account from there.
Just a bit of advice though before you do all this, go and buy yourself a remote Hard Drive, they're really good value today and copy off all of your sacred files from your old computer onto the new drive. You could also do the same via the Backup.app
It's well worth doing.... You can easily delay the switch over for a few days and you'll then have a backup disc that you'll start to use again and again.

LabView7.1 help says:
Array of clusters containing the strings from which you can select in the ring control
and the numeric values for each item. Use the Strings [] property if you do not need to
assign specific numeric values to each item.

I'm having a devil of a time changing page numbers even though I'm following the instructions for doing so. Any tips?

I imported an already paginated text from Word into Pages to format it for a book. I don't wan the first few pages numbered, so I've been trying to begin page one at the beginning of chapter one. I've followed the instructions for changing page numbers, i.e., click next to page you want to change; in dialogue box click "start new header /footer; a new section is created; click Setup, click Section; in page numbering section, select "Start at" and enter a new starting number." In trying to do this often I can't get the dialogue box, or when I do, I get a new section that commences with a blank page. Or, the dialogue box that should allow me to change numbers never appears. Help!

Is this for the Mac or iOS?
You only have iOS 7.0.4 as atag.

Changing page numbering

Hi everyone,
I have a 24-page facing pages document. The first and last pages are the cover for this booklet I'm doing, and the first page will be on the inside cover and therefore a left hand page. I'm using master pages for the inner pages of the booklet and have used automatic page number on these master pages. With it set up like this, the second page of the file (which is actually page 1 of the inner pages) is showing as page 2 since it's a left hand page being the inside cover, but I need it to show page 1. I tried clicking on this second page and choosing "Numbering and Section Options" and then chose "Start page numbering at 1", this changes the page number to 1 but it also makes this page a right hand page whereas in fact I need it to stay a left hand page and just change the numbering.
Is this possible in Indesign CS2?

^ There is something to be said for David's response and I would certainly check with your printer before sending it to them.
If you do need to number your pages such that odd numbers fall on LH pages, uncheck "Allow Pages to Shuffle" from the flyout menu of the Pages Palette before changing the section start.
We actually have to do this in Teacher Editions quite frequently because the A, B, C teacher insert pages frequently start on a the left page (and A is equivalent to 1 in InDesign's pagination brain).

While I was waiting I tripped over an old question on the icloud community about restoring an iPhone 4 from the cloud. I could see that the bulk of my 5gb was backup and surmised that most was photos - so as the iPhone 4 question stated the phone needed to be reset and then restored from the cloud. Doing this, allows you to see the different backups that went to the cloud and dates. The concept was from the old IOS - (this is for iOS version 8.1) Tap Settings > General > Reset > all content and settings . Once done, restore from your cloud backup.
I want to back this phone up to the computer one last time with the photos sent to the cloud - and then wipe it again and set it up as a spare.
So you see, your answer was mostly correct - Wipe and restore from the cloud. The photo's are downloading as I write this and I believe I am still in the 30 window for camera roll.as well.

- OSX: Maverick to Yosemite = not recommended (check it out > http://roaringapps.com/apps)
- iPad: older versions as iPad2 should not upgrade to iOS7/8 (it's not supporting its hardware accordingly, it's designed for the latest hardware)
- iTunes (it's possible to rollback to 10.7 - 11.4, but you need to breech OSX system security framework)
- Pages (was a real alternative for many of us, each update reduced features and created incompatibility to older work files)
