Changing font to a custom font - styleddocument

hello
i've been trying to change the font in a styleddocument to a custom one that is not registered on the pc
(i'm trying to make an application that holds the fonts in a folder, so that they can be dynamically loaded when needed)
until now nothing worked
i've tried 2 ways atm:
        JTextPane background = new JTextPane();
        StyledDocument styledDoc = background.getStyledDocument();
        if (styledDoc instanceof AbstractDocument) {
            doc = (AbstractDocument)styledDoc;
        } else {
            System.err.println("Text pane's document isn't an AbstractDocument!");
        initAttributes();
        background.setBackground(Color.BLACK);
        background.setEditable(false);
        File file = new File("fonts/mCode15.ttf");
     FileInputStream fis = null;
        Font font = null;
        try {
            fis = new FileInputStream(file);
            font = Font.createFont(Font.TRUETYPE_FONT, fis);
        } catch (FileNotFoundException ex) {
            Logger.getLogger(MatrixWindow.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
        } catch (FontFormatException ex) {
            Logger.getLogger(MatrixWindow.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
        } catch (IOException ex) {
            Logger.getLogger(MatrixWindow.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
        background.setFont(font);    // FAILS
        SimpleAttributeSet attrs = new SimpleAttributeSet();
        StyleConstants.setFontSize(attrs, 12);
        StyleConstants.setBold(attrs, true);
        StyleConstants.setForeground(attrs, Color.WHITE);
        StyleConstants.setFontFamily(font.getFontFamily);      // FAILSdoes anybody know any working solution for CUSTOM fonts?

You should override public Font getFont(AttributeSet attr) method to return proper font with attributes.
See how it works in src of DefaultStyledDocument class.

  • Using custom fonts in the Navigation pane

    Hi
    I'm using custom fonts in my webhelp. To do this, I created a folder for the web versions of the custom fonts and put it in the same folder as my css. I then added the font face elements to the top of my css (in Notepad). Next I used the custom font name for all the style defined in the css (in Notepad). That makes the content of the topics use the custom font. All good.
    Next, I edited the htt file (in Notepad) to use the name of the custom font. Now the breadcrumbs and topic footer use the custom font. All good.
    Finally, I want to use the custom font in the navigation pane (the text next to the books and page icons). I edited the skn file (in Notepad) to use the custom font. I also added a dependency for my css to the bottom of the skn file. Then I generated the webhelp.
    When I launch the help, the browser (IE) doesn’t allow running scripts or ActiveX controls (this is normal). At this point, the TOC in the Navigation pane looks like it uses the correct font. Once I click to allow IE to run scripts, etc. the font in the TOC changes to something that looks like Times or some default serif font.  So, it appears that something in the javascript is changing the font.
    For good measure, I checked the whtdhtml file and the custom font name is used there.
    Any ideas on what's happening and how to get my custom font to appear in the Navigation pane?
    BTW, I use images only in the toolbar pane (that spans the top of the webhelp window), so I don't need to specify the custom font there.

    Hi William
    I found one error. In the skin file, I had added a dependency to my css. It was missing a slash (/) to point to the correct folder level. Now that I've added that, the TOC displays the same font as the Index, Search results, and the topic (content, breadcrumbs, and footer). So, that's good, but on closer inspection, it looks like Verdana, not my custom font.
    I changed the font in whthost.js to the name of my custom font and generated the help, but it made no difference. I also changed the font and just opened the help without generating and got the same results.
    For your second suggestion, you mean whtdhtml.htm not whtdhtml.js? The custom font is in the lines:
    setFont("Normal", "MyFont","10pt","Black","Normal","Normal","none");
    setFont("Hover", "MyFont","10pt","#004080","Normal","Normal","underline");
    I added the <font> tag to this file, but the tag just shows up as plain text within the webhelp TOC (no matter where I insert it in the file).
    I also tried changing the font to my custom font for the Index body and Search results using the steps in Rick's Skinny on Skins (editing the whibody.htm and whfbody.htm files). When I do this, the serif font appears in the Index body and Search results.
    It seems like the files cannot "see" my custom fonts (which are in a folder at the same level as my css).

  • Using custom fonts in app development?

    Could somebody inform me if it is possible to use custom fonts of choice when developing an app. If so are there any restrictions? I have read that sinds OS 3.2 iPhonesupports custom fonts, ttf and otf  fonts. Is this not the case also  for the ipad? Or am I completely off track?
    If one can add custom fonts do they work along the same lines as embedded webfonts, availale for all users even if they are not  on their ipad?
    I am a media design lecturer looking for correct info for my students who are doing the visual design voor an app.
    Thanks in advance.

  • What is the best way to add and use custom fonts with Eloqua?

    We have a custom font that we'd like to use with Eloqua and were wondering how others might have successfully approached this.

    ~~Disclaimer: This answer refers to email fonts only - landing page font imports are discussed below~~
    Hi Brett,
    I took a look at these two posts: Re: Tips for getting the E10 email editor to change the email font for Outlook & other old-school email clients? and Re: E10 Fonts
    It seems that there are reasons as to why only a few of the fonts are supported. You can drill down into the source code to edit the font type, but I'm not sure that will get you anywhere.
    To drill down:
    To get the desired font & size in various clients (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, Outlook) I found that specifying in the html works best.
    So whether it’s a P or TD, tag I add the style attribute & specify the font along with color & size.
    e.g.:
    <td style="LINE-HEIGHT: 18px; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; COLOR: #000000; FONT-SIZE: 12px;">
    Of course if you use the WYSIWYG editor you will have to view the html source & add this.

  • Urgent: Custom font style not appearing in PDF output only

    Hi,
    For a customer, I received customer specific font styles(ttf font files) which I installed on my machine and then copied those files in Oracle\BI Publisher\BI Publisher Desktop\Template Builder for Word\fonts as well as in JRE/lib/fonts. Then I created a template in word and font there appears as custom font.
    Now I am getting that font style in all output formats(rtf,ppt,excel) except the PDF output. I am using Oracle BI Publisher desktop alone. Not sure what I missed because of which text font is not changing in PDF version only. I checked the PDF properties and there also custom font is not getting mapped.
    Thanks in advance.

    Here is the link that describes how to set up the font mapping for PDF output: Look for "Font Mappings (for PDF output)"

  • IWeb 08 - Custom Fonts not loading Anymore

    All,
    When I had iWeb '06 installed I could use custom fonts when designing and the fonts would display on any computer without having to install them. It seems that iWeb '06 used to load them as images.
    Now in iWeb '08 that doesn't seem to be the case. Now you have to have the fonts on your system to view them. Anyone know a way in '08 to change this. Or should I just create those portions as images then add them to the page?
    Thanks to all who respond.

    HI phantom27,
    While in iWeb, go to iWeb help and type in fonts in the search box.
    In the results page, look at the bottom where it says "iWeb:Tips for making text appear consistant in all browsers. It will give you all the info you need.

  • Migrated to a new Macbook Pro, now can't find my custom fonts

    I migrated my backed up computer from an external hard drive to my new Macbook Pro, purchased in July 2014. Running Mavericks 10.9.5, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
    I am a graphic designer and had many custom fonts on my old computer in a file structure that worked with Suitcase Fusion 2. (Users/Shared/Library (?)/My Fonts) This structure and all my custom fonts are now missing.

    Try calling AppleCare at 1-800-APL-CARE and try to reset your password to you old AppleID through them, Give them your MacBook Pro's serial number to avoid having to pay for phone support. You may have run out of options to reset your password youself, but they may be able to override you hacker's attempt to keep you out by having you verify billing info stored on the old Apple ID. Any content purchased with that old Apple ID will have to be authorized for playback on your new MacBook Pro with the original Apple ID and password that was used to purchase said content. To my knowledge there is currently no way of transfering ownership of content from one AppleID to another, however after you get your old Apple ID sorted out, you may be able to change the main email to one of your own and change your password to one thats tough to crack to avoid going through this terrible experience again.
    Hope that helps :-)

  • Custom fonts not loading while Edge Animation inside an iFrame

    Hi can someone help me with this strange problem? Custom fonts, specifically, Typekit fonts I used in my Edge Animate animation is not loading IE 11 when the animation is inside an iFrame. If you view the animation HTML directly on the browser, the fonts load perfectly fine.
    Here is an example where the animation is inside an iFrame and part of a webpage where fonts are not loaded when using IE11.
    http://www.pandaequipment.com/test/contact.html
    and here is the HTML file directly where fonts and loaded fine in IE 11
    http://www.pandaequipment.com/test/edgeanimate_assets/myhero/Assets/myhero.html
    All the other browsers I tested don't have this problem.
    Can someone tell me some ways to fix this in IE?

    Hi Keith,
    I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this.  I also saw this issue when I tested your site in Chrome on OS X 10.9, although the fonts worked on reload because they were then cached in the browser.
    I suspect the the issue is in the "src" attribute on the iframe:
    iframe allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="edgeanimate_assets/myhero/Assets/myhero.html"
    Would you try changing the src to a full path, and see if the fonts load into the iframe?
    iframe allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="http://www.pandaequipment.com/test/edgeanimate_assets/myhero/Assets/myhero.html"
    Background:  Typekit gets the domain name from the browser referrer and uses it to check that the site matches the listing on your kit.  This is one of the security layers to make sure someone can't steal your Typekit fonts and use them on their own site.  When loading fonts into an iframe, the iframe referrer needs to match as well.
    If the iframe referrer doesn't match or is blank, the behavior is browser-specific.  Some browsers will use the referrer of the parent page and so the fonts load, while others don't apply the fonts at all.
    Setting the iframe src to the full URL should ensure that a referrer is sent, and may fix this issue.
    Please give that a try, and let me know how it goes!  Thank you,

    Order of contacts=Open contacts. Click on menu bar>preferences>general.
    What little emoticon?
    Color permanently=as far as I know, you cannot change it.

  • How to set custom font family in qml label in black berry 10 os

    how to set custom font family in label text  qml in black berry 10 OS

    AFAIK, this is not the correct way to set the image location.
    We call the working directory as context, so inside the context root along with WEB-INF, maintain a folder with name img and put all the images in that directory.
    You can use either .\<image_folder> or the optimum way would be (if you are using JSPs) to use getContext() method and traverse accordingly.
    FYI,,, using getContext() will give you context root directory, from there it is as simple as accessing any other folder.
    Hope this answers your question.
    Cheers,
    Jeets.

  • Why Acrobat x professional is changing the text formatting specifically the font family  and the font size of the text in my pdf on exporting it to Microsoft word file format ?How should i stop Acrobat x professional from doing that so that i get an exact

    Why Acrobat x professional is changing the text formatting specifically the font family  and the font size of the text in my pdf on exporting it to Microsoft word file format ?How should i stop Acrobat x professional from doing that so that i get an exactly same word file on exporting it from its pdf counterpart?

    I was testing the preciseness & efficiency of Adobe acrobat x professional's doc conversion capabilities. As i have to take a document editing project in future which is going to need lot of pdf to word and vice versa conversions . What I did was I created a test word document converted into a pdf using a pdf maker in my word 2007 , Acrobat did convert the document from word to pdf keeping everything in the source file intact , However when i tried the other way round and attempted to convert the same pdf to word 2007 file format I lost my formatting ?So the font that I used to create the pdf are the ones taken from word 2007 which i believe is using the fonts that are installed in my computer. Any suggestions on how to preserve the formatting of the document after converting it from pdf to word file format?
    Regards

  • Editing a PDF file on Illustrator to maintain custom font from another computer

    Hello,
    I am trying to edit a PDF file on Adobe Illustrator and the file has a custom font in it that I do not have saved on my computer/Adobe does not recognize.  Is there a way to save the file so that I can edit it, but so that Adobe does not replace the font with a basic font?
    I have tried:
    -Opening it in AcrobatPro vs. Illustrator
    -Saving the PDF (2 pages) as 2 separate JPEG files and placing them into Illustrator... That just lowers the resolution of the images and they are much lower quality/more pixelated
    -Placing the PDF file in Illustrator rather than opening it in Illustrator
    None of those worked, and now I am not sure what to do.
    Please advice ASAP- Your help is much appreciated as I am on a time crunch!
    Thank you!

    You can do it with Acrobat. Not Acrobat reader.
    It is also possible with Preview.
    Open the file in Preview and export it say to the Desktop.
    Than open the second pdf and import the file.
    Than you can delete tha parts you so not need and leave only one page.
    It can be used if the pages are not too many or it will take a long time and I am not sure if it will work with big files.

  • [Solved] Changed Graphics Driver/Xorg.conf, Font Size Now Different

    Hello,
    I just got the Catalyst 9.4 drivers working on my laptop (Lenovo T400) since the open source ones just can't keep up (even with DRI).
    The problem is now my fonts are all different sizes (or not loading).
    I was thinking this might be because of my monitor settings in xorg.conf.  I've spent a really long time trying to get the catalyst drivers working (I'm doing OpenGL work, so I kinda need them), so I definitely understand why the Arch team took them out of the main repository.  I'm just a little hesitant about changing settings after I finally found a working config.
