Changing iPad gmail view to show inbox only

Question

Sorry to bug, but this is frustrating and searching here and online isn't turning up what I'm looking for.
Just purchased a refurbished iPad 3 and downloaded the Gmail App.
Is there a way to get a 'full screen' view of my inbox on the iPad Gmail App?
I want the default view to be my inbox, similar to how it appears on my normal Mac. However, I'm getting some sort of side inbox, which as I scroll down, opens whatever message I tap on a window on the right.

Hi Dan,
In your select statement, why not use a case statement, so that when there is no value in the signed off person, you can insert what ever value you like into that field.
