Changing movie clip to graphic causes white screen?

Using two instances of the same symbol in a project. When I test the project after placing the first instance on the stage as a movie clip, project works fine. When I place the second instance on the stage as a movie clip, project works fine. When I convert movie clip to symbol, the screen comes up white when I test project. When I break the symbol into components, screen still appears white. Even erasing the graphic instance or the componentes still causes the screen to come up white. Only solution I've found is using undo.
Has anyone else experienced this? Converting to movie clip to symbol "whiting out" your project? I'm refraining from adding sample code just yet, because code is pretty bulky and not sure what or if it would be relevant. Wondering if there's s known cause of something like this that doesn't require me to post code

Should I use Movie Clip or Graphic Symbols for Character
Animation? What do people who make TV shows use. If I'm not
planning on manipulating any symbols with ActionScript and I'm not
using a symbol that requires it's own time line like a walk cycle,
is there any reason to use movie clips symbols? If I put my
animation on the web will it download noticeably faster if I use
graphic symbols instead of movie clip symbols?

What I meant is, there are different ways of setting up a
workflow for Flash animation. Studio animators are trained in
traditional frame-by-frame animation. So their workflow is usually
to do the same in Flash: make every frame a keyframe, then copy and
paste everything from one frame into the next, then make whatever
changes are needed. A classically-trained animator can get a good
momentum working this way.
But for making the most streamlined SWF files, this method is
not the best. It's much better to rely on library assets, place
major parts or sets of parts on different layers, and only keyframe
those things that need keyframes. If good planning is done in
advance, it can be just as fast as doing straight-ahead keyframed
animation.
Either method may end up with the same result. But when you
want to go back and tweak things, it's a whole lot easier to do it
when method 2 is used.
I'm sure I'm not very clear. PM me and I'll send you a list I
created of "best practices" which I give to e-card animators.
One of these best practices is: place a thumbtack on the "G"
key on your keyboard. The very WORST habit that is taught to studio
animators using Flash is to use neither Graphics nor Movie Clips,
but to immediately click Ctrl-G every time they draw something.
This creates a Group. It's faster than hitting F8 and typing in a
name, but it causes ENORMOUS problems, especially when doing
retakes and revisions. And it results in gargantuan SWF files.
I literally GLUED a thumbtack to one one animator's keyboard,
since he seemed unable to remember this rule. Luckily this wasn't
in America, or I'd have been charged with grievous bodily
assualt.

How can I get my movie clip to resize according to screen size?

I have a movie clip (startMenu); inside it there are buttons, text, and graphics. This is a game I am making, and it will be played on different screen sizes of Android. This is the code I have so far:

Changing movie clip alpha with a button

Hello all
I need a freindly nudge in the right direction.
I need to change the alpha properties of a movie clip with a
button press, but if the alpha cannot go below 20.
I have the first part ok but just cannot figure out how to
limit the alpha change so that it does not go below 20.

Ok everything works but now there is a new problem.
if I push the increase button past the alpha == 100 the alpha
does not change but to decrease it will not change until it gets
back down to the 100% point.
Example:
it takes 4 button presses on decrease to get to 20% alpha and
4button presses on increase to get back to 100%
If I press increase 3 more times past 100% then I need to
press decrease 3 times to get back down to 100% and the 4th
decrease button will cause an alpha change.

HT3209 Renting refund for movie that won't play(white screen on applet )

If I buy the movie I can view it. However my rented movie - after completely downloading would not play. I only get a white screen. I already tried unplugging g the appltv to no avail. Does anyone have another suggestion for a fix? Or know how I can get a refund?

One Twitter feed causes white screen of death on iPad Air

II have a problem viewing ANY tweet from @NRO or @NROcorner. Whenever I click on a link in either of these tweets, within 10 seconds the screen clears so all I see is the white screen of death.
ANy idea what causes this?
note, this is on an iPad air that was just updated to IOS 8.1.3

When I connect it the computer doesn't even recognize it now. I tried DFU mode but it just goes straight to the white screen from the apple logo. Apple logo is only up for maybe 3-5 seconds max. I tried to put it into DFU mode but it won't go :-/. It's looking like I'll be making a trip to the apple store. When I went to update it said it worked and was rebooting but when it rebooted it gave me the tether logo on the screen saying to connect to itunes. So I did that and it looped like this like 4 or 5 times and then just went white screen on me :-/

Multiclips - unwanted change in clip speed / velocity causing sync problems

I am multiclipping 6 angles together. However, 1 angle always seems to be out of sync despite checking in points to make sure it should sync. What is really weird is that its audio is in sync but the video is not. Checking all the item properties the only thing I have noticed is that somehow its 'time remap' settings have changed from constant speed to variable speed and scrolling through the clip in this window shows that it starts at 100% but every now and again changes to 50%. The variable speed setting is greyed out so I can't switch it back to constant. I checked the source angle though and that IS set to constant and stays at 100%. Can anyone explain why multiclipping it screws up this setting? And better still how to stop it?!

Subsequently I've noticed that clicking the red 'x' in the time remap box changes the tab from variable to constant speed but still some frames seem to switch from playing 100% velocity to 50%, which seems the logical reason why it's making itself out of sync... Still doesn't help me get it in sync though!!!!

Movie clips change across documents

Does anyone know why this happens?
This is my usual workflow for creating various sized web banners.
1. Create a 300 x 250
2. Get it approved
3. When approved, duplicate the document and resize it for 160 x 600, 728 x 90 etc etc and reposition / change movie clips to fit the new sizes
A problem keeps occuring that if I modify a movie clip in one document those changes can affect other documents even if they are closed.
I haven't created any Project files so essentially the documents aren't linked to each other so why do they change?

If you don't have anything marked as runtime sharing that is the only thing that would modify the symbols. Once you duplicate a .fla file it does not have a magical connection to the others. I would just audit your process and make sure you are modifying what you actually intend to modify.
Are you modifying any external assets outside of the FLA that maybe they are all still pointing to?

White screen issue with DVC Pro HD

I have a G5, have Final Cut HD and have upgraded to QT 7 Pro. I am trying to open an HD file I shot last year, which was edited on another system. When I try to open the clip, it is a white screen with audio. The movie info is as follows.
DVCPRO HD (720p60), 1280 x 720, Millions
16-bit Integer (Big Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz
Any ideas on why it is not playing? Thanks!

ok... i just got this on mine. yesterday i was just getting ready to log subclips from fcp5, and when i opened the project file, i noticed that all my subclips i created and orignal clip where all red / out. so i closed fcp5 and went to the location of the file. i double clicked it, and behold, white screen, audio only.. so i had to completely redo the convertion of the orginal file.
next day
I was looking for a subclip that i had already extracted from the main file, and when i double clicked it showed the video. after that closed the window, and someone asked me to reopen the quicktime file again, i double clicked it, and all of a sudden the video was white, and only audio.
ive spent about 4 to 5 hours researching with someone else on this issue and have yet to find anything such as a fix, or work around, but my video keeps disappearing which is disturbing. from what we have come down to the issue is deals within quicktime are below...
we believe that quicktime is somehow changing the codecs DVC PRO and changing it to "Integer (Big Endian), Timecode, Video.." that is what it says.. and comepletely removing the codec for the video, and deleting the video footage, but keeping the audio in place perfectly. now, we also used metadatahootenanny to inspect a copy of the file and low and behold severe corrupt of the meta data in the quicktime file. the issue be with quicktime interaction with storage, or a bug quicktime behalf. we need to find a solution to this issue. we are currently in contact with apple tech support and hopefully we will be posting a answer soon.

How to stop a movie clip moving

I'm not newbie to flash but I am newbie to coding using
actionscript!!!
I am trying to create a button that moves a movie clip
("content1") diagonally across the screen but once the movie clip
reaches a certain x co-ordinate I want it to stop and then when I
click another button I would like it to return to it's starting
position. At the moment the movie clip moves if I click one of the
buttons but as soon as I click another one it stops which it
shouldn't it should go back in the other direction. The other
problem is that once I've clicked a button I cant seem to get it to
stop moving once it reaches a certain _x position it just keeps on
moving off the stage.
Below is the script I have so far not including any
conditions to check if "content1" has reached it _x position
Could anyone help please!!!!

Resize window/Movie Clip

Hi All,
I have a movie clip that contains a swf file in my .FLA file . How can i enable the movie clip so that when the screen is resized either bigger or smaller, the movie clip enlarges/shrinks accordingly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Think i have cracked it. If I change the settings in "Publish settings" to percent and specify 100% this works a treat!

White screen when renting

When I rent a movie I just get a white screen with no video or sound although it says movie is downloaded - any advice?
I can view trailers, watch all exisiting material I have purchased, but renting movies has stopped working.

Audio on the timeline, especially stream, tends to play very reliably. Is this project under any NDA or can you provide a FLA to examine? Let me know if you want to private message it and I'll shoot you a message.
What version of Flash Player are you targeting and is this AS2 or AS3?

Starz Play help - white screen

I just downloaded my trial for Starz. When I tried viewing a movie I only get a white screen with the sound. Any suggestions? Thanks!

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
With 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6 put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
Or if you are running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion, boot from the recovery partition (Command +R on boot) and use Disk Utility to repair your OS 10.7 or 10.8 partition.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is, then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions. After repairing use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for restarting from your hard drive.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

What driver is making all clips be "white screen"?

I'm using Premiere Pro CC on Windows 7. I previously was able to import and edit clips via exactly the same workflow - but now, not matter what clips I import, they all appear as the 'white screen'. The thumbnail is a frame of the video, but as soon as I mouse over, scrub, or try to play the clip, it turns totally white. Audio will play fine though.
I'm almost positive it has to do with using an AOC display that plugs in via USB. This is based on a similar issue I had using that display on a Mac and having part of a Blackmagic Design software UI not appear while using that screen.
I've tried lots of things, including updating the driver for my graphics card, from the manufacturer's site. Does anyone know of something else I can try - especially a way to undo whatever was done when I plugged in that USB display (worked without manually installing any drivers).
Please help. I needed to finish this project this morning

Hi Kevin. Yes, in both the Source pane and Timeline/Program, even a .jpg file shows up as just white.
To add to the case for my clips not being the problem, I've tried with every version I captured of this shoot:
Program out to SSD-based capture device, capturing as ProRes HQ (.mov)
Internal recordings on camcorder, as its top quality AVCHD (.MTS)
Locally encoded copy of web stream from CDN's stream encoding app (.mp4)
CDN's server-side capture of stream (.mp4)
USB Program Out encoded capture from video switcher (.mp4)
Each of those clips imports with a correct thumbnail image, but when scrubbed over or played, it's all white all the time (while audio is played correctly, as intended). Again, even the .jpg image has a proper thumbnail, but is showing as all white in all the contexts where the video clips are showing as white.
Is my best bet to just do a comprehensive extra local backup, reinstall windows, reinstall all software, restore data - and then start again fresh? Or are there other less time-consuming and less drastic measures I can try?
I'm really grateful to all who have (or will) offererd help on this. I know you've got your own work to worry about, and it's a real blessing for me.
