Changing stereo to mono pair in ITEM PROPERTIES

I know that you can unlink stereo pairs in the timeline, but I would like to unlink the stereo pair of the master clip in the browser so that I can change the levels for the entire clip for each channel separately before I begin editing (one is a boom mic, the other a lav). Under Item Properties the clips have the audio listed as stereo pair, but I can't change it. If I click on the clip in the browser and go to modify "unlink audio" is greyed out. It seems that you can't change the audio linking of a master clip. Otherwise I have to lay a clip into the timeline, unlink the audio, change the levels for each channel, and then copy/paste that to all the other clips after I lay them into the timeline. Am I missing an easy way to do this? Any help is appreciated

I don't think you can do it the way you intend, but there is a work around. Take all your clips and dump them completely into new sequence (no ins/outs). Unlink the stereo pairs all at once by hitting CMD+A and then OPT+L. Adjust the Pan of one of the audio clips to center. Copy that clip (CMD+C) and Paste the Attributes (OPT+V) to all the clips in the sequence.
Now all the clips in the timeline should be 2-mono and panned center.
In the browser, create a bin (to keep separate from original clips). Select all the clips in the timeline (CMD+A) and drag them into the new bin. That will create new master clips with mono audio instead of stereo pairs.

I am tring to change a stereo, single channel voice clip to mono with garage band. I extract the voice clip put it into garage band make it mono and reinport it into itunes and back into imovie.
Problem is that it slows to voice down and terefore the voice is not in sync. I used a neutral track in garage band, I cannot seem to speed it up to te correct speed. Others suggested audacity (see post http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1887621&#1887621) but I would prefer not to download and learn yet another program. Cannot garage band do this?, Better yet do it in iMovie?

Hi voyta - great that it worked and thanks for reporting back. Yes, for ANY editing to function, the appropriate clips, transitions etc must be selected (highlighted). In your case I presume Command-A (Select All) was what you had to do.

Change stereo tracks to mono?

I accidently recorded 3 vocal tracks in stereo. Is there a way to change them to mono without having to re-record them? They only come out of 1 speaker now no matter what I do.
I'm in GB3.

First, I didn't mean to be rude, hence my preface "I don't mean to be a dick...". I just didn't want to hear the same wrong answer over and over. It doesn't work, try it.
Second, I recorded the track with an SM58 (mono mic)plugged into an M-box FW Solo (mono interface).
The track shows up as stereo but I only get sound from the right. There are 2 level meters (left & right) in the mixer column. One meter shows activity, one meter does not. I must have accidentally had the input set to Channel 1 & 2 (stereo) when it was recorded. Changing it to mono only affects subsequently recorded tracks, not tracks that are already recorded.
I want to know how I can take this stereo track and change it to mono so I can get sound from both left and right.

Many object properties can be set programmatically at runtime. For example, each window object has a Visible property that can be set to either Yes or No to show and hide the window. The following example uses GET_WINDOW_PROPERTY to determine if a window is currently hidden (VISIBLE = FALSE). If the window is hidden, SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY is called to show the window.

Hi,
Yes from the "Format"->"Item Format" in the toolbar
select the item and go to the "Edit Heading"
This way you can change the whole report heading and items format without the need to run it after each change.

Re-Capturing Media with original settings but with Stereo not Mono Selected

Hi,
I am trying to re-capture about 17 hours of interviews that I just shot in Africa over the past month. It has all been digitized with the audio set to Mono instead of Stereo (in my jet lagged mindset I forgot to set to Stereo)! I need the stereo setting as I always had a wireless lav on the subject and a wired lav on the interpreter and I need to be able to split them out in the sequence. I have already built sequences with all the interviews and a timecode window burn for my client, which sounds fine for simple timecode logging, so I would like to reconnect so that all of those sequences will remain intact.
So when I try to go recapture, whether I delete the original clip OR just make it offline and save the new captured clip to a different location, it automatically captures in Mono, as that is what is set in the original clip under Audio Tracks in the browser. It will not let me change that setting in the Browser, and stereo is definitely selected under Audio Clip settings in Log and Capture.
I have to think there is a way to do this so that I can save my original clip information, without having to reset all new in and out points and recapture it all with the exact same name to a different drive so it works in my sequences.
I don't need to recapture the 18 or so hours of b-roll thank goodness! As it was all shot with a mono shotgun.
Also, when I go to recapture the clip a warning comes up and says I am trying to capture media shot in Non Drop Frame on a device set to Drop Frame..etc etc etc.
I did shoot in non drop frame but I have not changed anything on my deck (Sony DSR-11) and don't even think there is a switch to go between the two. If I try to simply capture a new clip I get no such warning? It seems to play fine regardless but I wonder if I will have issues down the road integrating the new clips in with the b roll.

If both tracks are in the sequence, then just select one side, and in FCP's Modify menu (audio submenu there), pan all to one side, then select the other track and pan all to the other... you can change the stereo to mono and mono to stereo too in that same menu... no need to recapture at all. Do this mono to stereo move simply by selecting the clips in the sequence, and checking on or off the stereo pair selection...

User manipulation of web item properties

Hi everyone,
I have a requirement from a client where they want to be able to dynamically manipulate web item properties, more specifally they want to change the number of columns of a report displayed on the web.
For instance, lets say I have a web template that has a query assigned to it and displays a report. In the bex web designer, you can set the number of columns displayed in the properties section of the web item. I want to be able to change this property directly from the web with the help of a drop down box.
Is it possible to do this, and if so, how?
I have tried to search the forums for a similar questions but with no luck.

Hi,
Are you referring to the Table item property named DATA_COLUMN_TO? Aren't you able to change it by adding it at the end of your url with the desired value?
If you need to add a button or a new context menu entry then you will need to add some javascript to your web template.
Please, check how to guide about adding a new context menu entry (How to enhance context menu).

Web Item Properties cannot be displayed in WAD

Hi,
I cannot see the web item or template properties in the WAD. I have ticked the flag for the web item properties to be displayed.
This seems to be user specific, if I login as another user, the properties work area is visible and as well can be selected or deselected for display.
I am new to Web reporting so am not sure where to change the parameters to get back the properties work area for me.

Its really strange that the issue seems fixed on itself. Today I have logged into the system and found everything in order.
Now I can see the properties pane in WAD and as well select/deselect it from the toolbar.
It seems to be one more SAP mystery!!!!

Question about stereo vs. mono tracks. (Very basic, but appreciate help)

I’m still a little confused about Stereo Vs. Mono tracks when recording in Logic. (This might sound stupid, but I’m still getting confused by this stuff.)
When first recording a track, do you guys usually do it in mono or stereo?
Secondly, I’m still confused about the benefits or stereo tracks. Why not just record mono and then pan a track left or right when mixing? I’m just not getting the concept of stereo recording. I know these are very basic questions, but I’ve read numerous books and I’m still a little in the dark on this. Thanks for the help!

Most of the things I record are done on mono tracks. Each piece of a kit goes to its own channel, then I pan things accordingly later (Overhead L & R, etc.).
You only need to record in stereo if you actually have a source that is stereo, i.e. a keyboard with stereo fx and L&R outputs, but even then I usually just set up two mono tracks, one for L and one for R. I would do a similar thing if I was using a stereo pair to mic something.
You can always make a mono track stereo later as well using a variety of plug-ins.

Anamorphic flag in FC for title item properties

I've been trying to figure out how to get my titles to be anamorphic. I shoot it widescrenn 16:9, so all my FCE sequences are set to that.
I noticed some people change their title project properties to have a 1.25 pixel aspect ratio and then import it to FCE and then select item properties and set an "anamorphic flag."
HOW do you do this? When I select project properties for my live type title I can see the properties but I can't change anything but the title of the file. Everything else is grayed out.
How do I flag a LT file in FC to be recognized as anamorphic in FCE?
I'm using FCE HD 3.5

In LiveType open the project properties with Command Zero. There will be a field for pixel aspect ratio. If this is greyed out there must be another issue. Is the file locked or in use by another application?

FCP Item Properties

Hi, I'm making a music video bound for the internet shooting on a DVX100B in PAL progressive (25fps) in squeeze mode (anamorphic).
Now in final cut pro I was wondering what the best settings were in the item properties tab. Also if I change the sequence item properties settings will it change all the clips I've used in that sequence (the stuff in the timeline) or will I have to change each clip individually in the timeline?
So the following settings are (for the sequence):
Vid rate: 25fps
Frame Size: 720x576
Compressor: DV PAL
Pixel Aspect: CCIR 601 (should I change this to square and if so why?)
Anamorphic: (no tick)
Field Dominance: Lower (Even) (Should I change this to none and if so why?)
Thanks for any advice on the following query. Any info at all on how and why I should change the above settings would be great. I'm also using compressor after this so could I make all these changes in compressor instead of in FCP, or is it best to change them here first as well?

Changing the sequence settings won't change clip properties.
Pixel Aspect: Don't change
ANamorphic: Do Tick
Field: Lower
Consider changing to Pro Res SD rather than DV.
I'd rather work with the correct settings in FCP so I could get reasonably accurate feedback on what I was editing. Export as QT Movie Current Settings. Bring into COmpressor as source file for a job/batch. Use Compressor to transcode. Start with one of the QT download presets and adjust bit rate and frame controls until you're satisfied.

Changing the default view for Line Items in an Auction.

We have a version 5 client who is asking for us to change the default view for line items in an auction.
Currently, if you have an auction setup, and you go to the Line Items tab, the default view is the "Basic View". The client would like to change the Default from "basic view" to "price view".
Is there a way to change this default in the system? Can this be configured using query groups? Any information would be helpful.

Not possible in SAP Standard.
Instead why not create a Customer Material Info Record in T-Code - VD51?
Alternatively it the requirement to change the Description is only for few Sales Order then create a Text ID & Enter the Description in Text Feild. Then in Smartform program wrie a code which will check for Material Description in the Text first & if not found then take from normal material Description in Sales Order.
But Customer Material info Record seems to be the best solution.
