Changing stroke [reduction] thickness of a font (Glyph)?

Hello all,
I used the Glyph function for a curly bracket in order to denote two sections on an illustration. It isn't ideal by it gets the point across (I am open to ideas that are better than a font based curly bracket).
Anyhow, because I had to expand the curly bracket character to 72pt, it is now too thick. Is there a feature, in InDesign that will allow me to lessen the stroke size? The Stoke Weight is already 0, so that won't work. I have also lowered the Horizontal scale... that helped with the appearance. Plenty of community help requests talk about increasing stroke thickness, but none cover reducing it.
Another option is to convert the font character to curves. Can I do that without going into Illustrator?
Thank you.

Avenir Heavy.
Why an outline in interesting? because the stroke alignment settings are different and allow to apply an internal stroke (negative stroke!):

  • How to change the default window size display font size on Lync 2013 main window?

    Hi champs,
    Just a simple non-technical question: How to change the default window size display font size on Lync 2013 main window on Windows 7 desktop?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Did you mean change the Lync: Change the Default Font and Color of Instant Messages just as Edwin said above?
    If not, as I know, there is no natural way to change it.
    If yes, on the latest version of Lync 2013 client, there is a new option “IM” on Lync client “Options” list. And you need to change the default Font and Color of IM in the interface of “IM”.

  • How to make this image compatible as a laser cut file by changing stroke colour?

    My final aim with this image is to make it compatible as a laser cut raster engrave design, so the laser cutter will fill the black areas or white (either would be fine). If this is not possible then even as a laser cut outline would be suitable
    This is how the image will look when in Illustrator. however when I use the preview screen (ctrl+y) it creates an outline. This is how the laser cutter will read the image which is why it is very important the preview image is is what i would expect the final outcome to be.
    As a raster the laser cutter requires the stroke line to be blue r:0 g:0 B:255. Currently I cannot edit the colour, yet I can change the stroke weight. Also how I would I fill the engraved areas as a stroke? At the moment when I try converting the stroke to blue it turns grey.
    I am also unsure as to how I would make this feasible even to be cut out when I cannot change the stroke colour to red. This is required for laser cut designs as the laser cutter reads red lines to be cut.
    I can usually change stroke colours easily so I assume this is due to the fact that I have brought this file through from Photoshop so it is not yet fullu editable. I have used the live trace and live paint function in illustrator so far.
    Any help would be appreciated

    You need to expand the artwork and convert the strokes to genuine outlines to in turn be able to apply anotehr thin stroke to them again...

    Why Acrobat x professional is changing the text formatting specifically the font family  and the font size of the text in my pdf on exporting it to Microsoft word file format ?How should i stop Acrobat x professional from doing that so that i get an exactly same word file on exporting it from its pdf counterpart?

    I was testing the preciseness & efficiency of Adobe acrobat x professional's doc conversion capabilities. As i have to take a document editing project in future which is going to need lot of pdf to word and vice versa conversions . What I did was I created a test word document converted into a pdf using a pdf maker in my word 2007 , Acrobat did convert the document from word to pdf keeping everything in the source file intact , However when i tried the other way round and attempted to convert the same pdf to word 2007 file format I lost my formatting ?So the font that I used to create the pdf are the ones taken from word 2007 which i believe is using the fonts that are installed in my computer. Any suggestions on how to preserve the formatting of the document after converting it from pdf to word file format?
    Regards

    Your site was built using tables, whose sizes are defined in your site.
    If we look at your first table definition, we can see:
    <table width="861" height="1449" border="3" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bordercolor="#868787">
    Your table has a width of 861 pixels and an overall height of 1449 pixels. Anything you put into that overall box must fit those dimensions, else
    it won't be visible. Anything you add above it will push everything down. You can redefine your sizing to let you edit more inside of the table elements.
    This is why, when you type in more text, things act weird. If you are in Dreamweaver, you must find the right cell to put your text into and then enter
    text there. Unfortunately, this is going to push things around, which were all lined up using tables. And this gets everything offset with respect to
    everything else in your website.
    And that is why everyone is saying, "Start Over!"
    I just inherited a website that has been put together using tables. I'm going to have to expend considerable effort in rewriting the entire design of the
    website because of that. because everything I intend to add to the pages on the site is going to need to be deconstructed in order to get it to work
    properly if I'm adding text and pictures that need to line up with each other.
    You need something done quick and dirty and the only way I can recommend you do that is to use Dreamweaver to show you the tables you have
    and put what you need in a new table that is defined above or below the tables you all ready have defined. Do that and then get back to someone here
    who knows how to make a website correctly to clean up your entire website and make it editable -- which will cost you some money, but it will be
    money well-spent.
    I like to quote this maxim: Good, Fast, Cheap. Pick any two. This works for website design. You can get it fast and cheap, but it won't be good. I
    think you may have chosen that route.

  • Keyboard shortcut - hotkey - to change stroke weight

    Is there a keyboard shortcut to change stroke weight? Increase and decrease.
    If there isn't , then maybe someone could help me to write a script or something else, to make this hotkey.
    I found this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/1274603#1274603 but the link to script is dead.

    The scanario is like this: there are plenty of e.g. circles on the artboard. I want to make all these circles to have one of 3 strokes: 1px green, 3px green and 5px green, semi randomly. If there was a shortcut assigned to those strokes, I could very quickly paint the circles. Click the circle with right hand and press the shortcut with left hand and it makes the circle stroke 1px green, and so on. Much faster than click the circle and then choose the stroke weight. The same could be used for painting fill. Symbolism would be a good alternative if it could place the symbols exactly in specific places, but as I know this tool, it just sprays randomly and then shifting to specific places is not exactly possible (e.g. put all symbols precisely in a row).
    [Edit] Ah, it was so long ago that I forgot the original purpose. But now I recall, that the purpose was to draw hair. So I wanted to assign not only stroke weight but also color.

  • [SOLVED] Font glyphs work locally, but not over SSH?

    Hello,
    I am trying to get some font glyphs used for status icons (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/stlarch_font/) to show up in a tmux session over SSH.
    The setup on the local and remote machines are identical and the fonts work fine in tmux on both machines, running locally.
    When attempting to view a tmux session over SSH, however, the glyphs no longer display and instead there is a blank space where they should be.
    Setup:
    URxvt 9.20
    Tmux 1.9a
    .Xresources (full)
    URxvt*termName: rxvt-256color
    URxvt*font: xft:dejavu sans mono for powerline:regular:pixelsize=16,\
    -misc-stlarch-medium-r-normal--10-100-75-75-c-80-iso10646-1
    .tmux.conf (full)
    set -g default-terminal "screen-256color"
    The setup is based off of tutorial: http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=20504
    Any ideas?

    --edit--
    It appears that the fonts do show up properly on the remote machines when I simply SSH in; it's only when I enable X11 forwards ("-x" flag) that they no longer work...
    **Update 2014/07/14** Problem not related to X11 forwarding. See below for explanation.

    By using <TH> instead of <TD> on your header row
    you can then specify different font type and size in your CSS code.
    th{

  • Change stroke width of frames

    Hi Friends,
    How to change stroke width of all frames eg:rectangle frame, ellipse frame, polygon frame.
    Regards,
    Balaji

    Okay, it does not work. So what doesn't work?
    (After trying) oh, it says this
    Error Number: 55
    Error String: Object does not support the property or method 'PageItem'
    Your selection already is a page item (or it should be, when you selected just "objects"). Use this instead:
    var change = app.selection;
    for(var idt=0;idt<change.length;idt++)
      change[idt].strokeColor = "None";
      change[idt].strokeWeight = 0;
    There is a slight over-kill here, because setting the stroke color to [None] will automatically set the weight to 0, but that's nothing dramatic.

  • Script to find/change stroke in tables

    Hi everyone,
    I posted this very same question about a month ago but I got no reply so I thought I'd try again. Even if I can't obtain a free script that will do what I need, I'm happy to look at paying for one if someone can point me in the right direction.

  • Anchor points move and entire shape gets distorted from changing stroke thickness

    I have a fairly simple drawing that I drew at a larger size so I could be precise with it, and now I want to reduce it down to the finished size, and thicken the stroke, but when I make the stroke thicker, my anchor points move and the entire drawing gets distorted.
    In 24 years of using Adobe Illustrator, I've never seen this happen. When I click on the "up" arrow on the Stroke palette a bunch of times to incrementally increase the stroke thickness, I can watch the anchor points "walk" around as my shape gets distorted.
    If I instead enter a numerical value for the stroke thickness, this doesn't happen.
    However, if I use the Scale tool to shrink the drawing down to 10% or 20% size or whatever, with Scale Strokes and Effects UNCHECKED, again, the anchor points move and the drawing is distorted.
    This is all on a brand new installation of Illustrator CS 6 for Mac (though I've been using CS 6 for about 2 years now, my hardrive crashed this past weekend and I had to reinstall everything).
    Did I miss a little checkbox somewhere that I've never seen before that's making this happen?
    Editing this post to add:
    Also, some of the objects in my drawing will not allow me to change the stroke to less than 1 point thickness. If I choose .5 or .25 pt from the pop-up menu, or even if I enter the numerical value, it jumps back to 1 point. Other objects in the drawing do not.
    These objects in question are "rounded rectangle" shapes that I've used the scissor tool on to cut and then used the "join" command to put them together with parts of other shapes that were "scissored' as well.
    All of the "Ellipse" and "Rounded Rectangle" shapes that I left intact do not exhibit this problem with stroke and distortion.

    You are being bitten by the Align-to-Pixel-Grid. Select everything and go to the Transform panel and turn off Align-to-Pixel-Grid at the bottom of the panel; then go to the panel flyout (small triangle, upper right) and turn off Align Objects to Pixel Grid.
