Changing the day start time

I'm a sudent at uni, and so often go out for the evening, and return sometime in the early hours of the next morning. Is it at all possible to change the settings so tat a day begins at 4 a.m. rather than midnight?

Take a look into iCal Preferences.
On OSX 10.3.9 iCal has a "Day" Preference which lets you set the time that the day begins and day ends.
Expect it would be the same on Tiger.

    On Calendar, I have tried to change the "Day starts at" and "Day ends at" many times however, it just does not seem to change. Please help.
    This for Calendar on my Mac which of course effects my iPhone and iPad.
    I don't need to see the hours from 1 am to 6 am
    Please help!

    Well, assuming all of the above, Notifications, etc., it just might be time for a visit to the Apple tore genius center for a session with the techs.  See if it is a fault in the hardware or just an iOS reinstall is the answer.
    One more thing you could try, backup so you have a record of content, then restore to factory conditions be an Erase All Contents and Settings.  Then restore from the backup you just made.  That has helped some with WiFi problems, may be it would work with your problems.
    But with that behavior of another app with problems, the geniuses looks like a less stressful thing to do.

  • How to change the day and time seen on the calendar

    Hi.
    I am a bit confused as to how to restrict the day and time shown on a calendar.
    The ical help says this:
    To change the days of the week or the number of hours that appear in the main calendar view, choose iCal > Preferences, and make your choices from the Week and Day pop-up menus in the General pane. For example, you can choose to only see the hours from 9AM to 5PM on Monday through Friday.
    However, in my preferences pane, i don't have a either a week or day pop up menu that i can see, so i can't seem to restrict these fields. It's really frustrating as calendars are beginning at 1am!!!!
    Anybody got any ideas?
    Thanks
    David Tobin

    OK, but what did the help menu mean when it said..
    To view the day's, week's, or month's events, click the Day, Week, or Month button at the bottom of the iCal window.
    To change the days of the week or the number of hours that appear in the main calendar view, choose iCal > Preferences, and make your choices from the Week and Day pop-up menus in the General pane. For example, you can choose to only see the hours from 9AM to 5PM on Monday through Friday.
    To change which months are shown in the mini-month calendar (in the lower-left corner of the iCal window), click the arrows above the mini-month calendar. To see more than one month, drag the mini-month divider (the horizontal gray bar above the diamond) upward.
    To see events that are earlier or later in the day, use the scroll bar on the right side of the main calendar view.
    To change the range of time in the main calendar view that is not shaded (representing your "normal" day), choose iCal > Preferences. In the General pane, choose the times you want to appear in white (not shaded) from the "Day starts at" and "Day ends at" pop-up menus. All times outside that range are shaded.
    This suggests that you should be able to limit the hours actually shown on the calendar to a set range as opposed to just changing the shaded area.
    Have you any idea how to achieve this, as i don't see the popup menu suggested with...

  • Change calendar day start time?

    Is it possible to change the starting time of the day on my iCloud calendar?  I mean, I don't want my iCloud calendar to open up showing 12 midnight at the top, I want it to start at 8A.  I am unable to find anything in settings to do it, nor can I find this question asked in Help forums more recently than 2012.
    Even when I change it to show 12 hours or 24 hours, it still has 12 Midnight at the top.  I don't want that, I don't plan anything at midnight.
    I'm using:
    iPhone 5S
    iOS 8.1.3
    iCloud v 4.0.2
    Desktop:  Windows 7 Ultimate
    TIA,
    Audrey

    I hope I'm not asking for the impossible, I hope there is a way to do this.  Please let me know if you know how!
    Thanks again.

  • How can I change the default start time of an activity in iCal (Mavericks)?

    My current default time in iCal is 9.00 AM. Don't know why. In iCal on my MBP it is 10.00 AM. Can I change that to 11.00 AM? I am not an early riser...

    If the program does not open the last folder you visited you most likely have the option enabled to autoload Bridge on Startup.  Either disable that option  in PS or shut Bridge down before you shut off the computer.

    If you always want it to start on a specific folder you can leave it on autoload, go to folder you want it to start on then exit Bridge.  It should load this each time in future.  Many of us discourage the autoload option as it can lead to other problems as well.

  • ICal on iPad - how do I change the time the day starts?

    On the iPad iCal, the day starts at 12am, and there's a scrollbar for scrolling through the 24 hours of the day. I pretty much won't have any events before 8am, so I want to customize my calendar so that the day starts at 8, and I can see a lot more of the day instead of having to scroll alllll the way down to 8am. The way it is right now, if I go into week or day view, it'll start up at 12am and I'll have to scroll down to view most of my events.
    Thanks in advance for any answers - apologies by the way if this has been asked and answered before, I'm not quite sure how to search for discussion topics inside a community.

    I have been searching as I have the same question - When my ICal comes up each morning on my, I would like the screen view to begin at 8 am.  I am thinking that it is not possible to do this from what I have been able to find but just wanted to check it out to be sure I cannot do this!  Thanks for any assistance someone can give me!
    Although I see the question by Sixthrain and clicked on the Latest Reply, nothing came up.
    PS  I have a laptop, not an IPad.

  • How do you alter the event start time

    The event start time always defaults to 5:00 pm. How do I change this.

    Thanks for replying. Yes my event time is responding as you pointed out, however I' putting on a number of events at about 4:00 pm that all start about 8:30 am so it would be very useful if the default time could be set for a specific time. Thunderbird is version 31.5.0, I only started using this programme a few days ago and downloaded the Lightening Calendar at that time. Could not find how to find the version of Lightening perhaps you could help there as well. Regards

  • Changing the Date and Time of photos

    Hello,
    i have been importing images from my windows machine and want all the dates to be correct, i have seen the adjust date and time, and made the changes but under the events the dates dont change and when i click individual photos the dates and times are not changing.
    so i was wondering how do i change the time for each photo and event? can i change the time to a start and finish date rather than just one date?
    Any help with the above would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    I have just looked at this again, i dont see an option to set both a start and end date, any ideas?
    That is not an an option - and it makes no sense
    You can do one of three things:
    1 - add a constant delta to all selected photos thereby correcting an incorrect setting on a camera and preserving the sequence and integrity of the photos dates ad times
    2 - change the date and time for all selected photos to a specific value
    3 - change the date and time for all selected photos to a base value plus an increment for each successive photo.
    There are two choices under the photos menu
    1 - adjust date and time - this adds a constant Delta to the selected photos - is is designed for correcting camera times or time zones but keeping the basic sequence
    2 - batch change date and time - this simply changes the date & time to your selected value with an option to add an increment to each
    Both have an option to modify the original photo which I do (I'm not sure why you would not want to modify the original)
    And when i go into photos, the ones that i have altered by +Photos >>> Adjust Date and Time+ still have different times and dates, any ideas?
    AS described in the iPhoto help and above
    1 - adjust date and time - this adds a constant Delta to the selected photos - is is designed for correcting camera times or time zones but keeping the basic sequence
    So after adjusting time and date all photos selected will have the time and date changed by the same amount (a constant delta) and if they were all different before they will still all be different - if they were all the same before adjustment they will still all be the same but at a different value

  • How to capture the job start time

    Hi,
    how do i capture the time the job start running and the time the job end? when i query this
    SQL> select * from user_jobs;no column are showing when the job start time (only last_sec and next_sec). I want to copy user_jobs view into ajob_history table, like this:
    Job history table
    Job_start Job_end
    (?)     (last_sec)

    Why not add a log time into the job call itself? That way, you can collect the information yourself for the jobs you're interested in.
    So instead of the "what" parameter being "my_proc(p1, p2....)", change it to something like:
    declare
      v_start_time TIMESTAMP;
      v_end_time  TIMESTAMP;
    begin
      v_start_time := systimestamp;
      my_proc(p1, p2....);
      v_end_time := systimestamp;
      log_job_time('Unique identifier', v_start_time, v_end_time);
    end;and have the log_job_time process insert a row into a logging table that captures the name of the job and it's start and end time.
    That's if you can't include the timings in your procedure, of course.

  • HT201250 I've been working on a newsletter and have the final version. But I wanted to check something in a version I did last week. If I choose the day in Time Machine, is there any way I can view that document without "restoring" it to replace the final

    I've been working on a newsletter and have the final version. But I wanted to check something in a verssion I did last week. If I choose the day in Time Machine, is there any way I can view that document without "restoring" it to replace the final version?

    You can drag and drop a file from TM to the desktop.
    Let's say your newsletter is on the desktop. First thing to do is to add something to the file name, say Newsletter_1.
    Next open TM as if it is just another external drive by double clicking the icon. (This is not the same as "Enter Time Machine" which you do when you want to restore.) The file hierachy in TM follows the same logic as on your hard drive. Navigate to the date you want, find the file you want, and drag and drop it where you want it to be. Because you changed the name of the most recent version you can both files in the same space.
    I do this often.
    But remember if you make a back up now you will end up with both versions in TM.

    There is no default time for custom events. You can set the time for anything that you like when you create the event. The settings for Birthdays and All Day Events only give you the choices that you see in this screenshot. So to answer your question, no you cannot change from 9:00 AM for these events unless you choose None and select your own time.
    If you want to change the default time to None the path is Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Calendars>Default Alert Times>Birthdays or All Day Events.
