Chargeable Access Points N95

Hi,
I spend a lot of time in London and use chargeable access points (eg BTOpenzone, T-Mobile, Cloud, etc).
Although I can connect to the point, enter my user ID and password and browse what would be really useful is the ability for the N95 to pass the userID and password automatically.
Could it be wrapped in a URL? Or would https scupper that plan?!?
Any help very cool!

  • Nokia Messaging - Selecting an access point (N95)

Apologies if this has been covered before - I searched but couldn't turn up anything.
Maybe i'm missing something really obvious, but how/where on a N96 do I select which connection / access point the Nokia Messaging app uses to sync?
    Thanks in advance.

Heh. I knew it was something (reasonably) obvious. For anyone else looking, it's found at:

  • N95 Wifi, home network and hidden access points

    Hello-
Just picked up a N95 and having some problems. First, my home network doesn't broadcast a SSID. I stumbled across the home network option and was able to configure it. However, it's never an option when I need an internet connection; e.g., it never shows up in the wlan list.
So, how do I congigure a hidden access point so I can use it? The user guide says you should be able to do it manually, but doesn't go into any details.
Secondly, exactly what is the home network setting for and why is it separate from the other wlan settings?
    Thanks,
    Jay

    Jay,
I too have a hidden network (SSID not broadcast), the N95 seems to have a problem with this. It may or may not show up on the active standby screen (on my Voda N95, it shows up when I take my sim out!).
To configure your accesss point :-
Tools / Settings / Connection / Access Points
then Options / New access point
    Connection name
(enter a name, whatever you want to call it)
    Data bearer
    =wireless LAN
    WLAN network name
    (enter your SSID here)
    Network Status
    (public or hidden)
    WLAN network mode
(Infrastructure or ad-hoc. If you're using a router, infracstructure should be the one you want)
    WLAN security mode
(Open, WEP, 802.1x or WPA2. Check your router)
    WLAN security settings
    WPA/WPA2
EAP or Pre-shared key (consult your router)
EAP plug-in settings or Pre-shared key
(which one you get depends on what you set above)
    WPA2 only mode
    (leave alone)
Having done all this it still won't show on the active-standy screen (at least it doesn't on mine) in the WLAN section BUT if you know try and surf the web it should ask which access point you want to use - assuming you've got it set to 'always ask'. What this seems to do is only list the connections that it can find (i.e if you've got a 'Starbucks' and a 'home' connection defined, it'll only show 'home' at home and 'Starbucks' when you're getting your latte. The standby screen may show, how to decribe it, a four leaf clover near to the battery level indicator, this is the indication that it's either found or connected to your wireless lan.
I think the 'Home netw.' option is for use with the Home Media Server application supplied on the CD. I haven't tried it so can't confirm for sure.
    Hope this helps,
    Simon

  • Use N95 as access point and get laptop inet throug...

Is it possible to use the N95 as an (WIFI) access point and use a laptop, a psp, an ipod touch to access the internet through 3G or even Turbo 3G?
That would be really really cool!
    Regards
    Raptor

I dont think it is as would have to be connected through a router to a phone line anyway. My psp doesn't even detect my N95. You would have to use it as a bluetooth modem and 3g.
Its not who i am underneath. But what i do that defines me.

  • N95 access points

On my n95 i have set-up defined access points, my home router, other wlan routers, and my t-mobile internet. When i open applications that require an access point connection, not all of my access points will show up when propmted to select one. In other words, if i open internet radio, worldmate, nokia search all of my access points are shown to select from. If i open yahoo go, opera mini, em tube, none of my wlan access points are an option, only the t-mobile access point. Is there something in the settings that i'm missing? Thanks for any help given.

  • Switch Access Point in Nokia n95-4

Situation: at home I use wifi (cheaper) and outside I use 3g or gprs
Is it possible that the phone automaticly detects and switch connection?!
I need this for Nokia Messaging, I don't want to change every time the access point on the application.

This is really confusing - let me try to explain better.
I have two different applications capable of handling emails, with very different look and feel:
    - one is called "Messaging" and it shows emails as well as sms folders, and I have no problem selecting access points when the sync needs to happen (the icon of this application is two mail letters, similar to the icon for writing a new sms)
    - the other application is what I call Nokia Email. It is the latest version (Product version 1.2, Build: 10.0.1.16), downloaded today from email.nokia.com - and it syncs with my gmail account. This one is compatible with html emails and supports gmail better than the other one. As an icon, it spots a pink "@".
I doubt they're the same application because when I uninstalled Nokia Email from the phone (via Application Manager/Installed apps.), I was then still able to use Messaging.
So, my problem is that Nokia Email doesn't allow me to choose the most appropriate access point when it connects. I would like to be able to use wifi whenever available, and connect via gprs/3g only when necessary.
I quite like the handling of html in this software, but I don't want to be charged data for downloading emails when unnecessary.
I hope this makes sense, thanks a lot for your help,
    Ugo

  • How to set up email access on N95 8GB?

    Hi
    I have an N95 8GB.
I have recently added a data bolt on for accessing work email from my phone and would like to receive a text/message when I receive a new email.
Problem is I can't find any information on how to set this up.
    This link looked perfect:
    http://www.knowyourmobile.com/nokia/nokian95/nokian95internet/2533/setting_up_email_on_the_nokia_n95...
but  following it through on my phone doesn't come up with the same options etc.
So far I have gone to 'messaging', selected 'change me', then - Options - Email Settings - Connection Settings - Incoming e-mail.
    Here I am stuck.
Is my username my email address?
Is my password my email account password?
What is my incoming mail server?
What is my access point in use?
What setting should security ports be on?
The settings also say that I cannot have email notifications and email retrieval together. What does this mean?
I would really appreciate it if anyone out there can help.
    Thank you

Hi, I'm a newbie at this, so pls be patient with my terminology...  I want to install 2 or 3 of these cameras in my mother's home, and I will have AT&T DSL service (one dynamic IP address) there with only a modem/wireless router.  I want to access the cameras from my laptop or from my Blackberry Tour when I am traveling.  Also want to allow access for my other relatives.  I do not have another home computer to serve as a WHS, and my laptop is obviously not connected to the internet all of the time.  Can I use the DDNS setup with DynDNS to provide access?  The instructions that I read seemed to imply that I needed a WHS in order to forward ports, etc.  Thanks in advance for your help.. • "End" an Access point

    Hi,
When I turn on my phone it automatically opens up a particular access point. I don't want it to do that.
How do I stop it opening. When I go into access points I click on options and try to delete it but it says access point in use, cannot delete. Cannot edit it for same reason. It is one that I set up, was not on phone originally. Cheers

Also there is a symbol in top right of screen that is a phone with what looks like a globe beside it. What does this mean and how do I get rid of it. Thanks.Message Edited by needtogetfit on 10-Nov-200710:46 PM

if you press hold the menu key for more than 3sec you should see what's program running in the background & you can close it manualy. Some unrully programs does not close automatically after you used them!Message Edited by android on 11-Nov-200708:15 AM

  • Nokia Email Access Point Configuration Disappeared

I`ve just upgraded to the new Nokia Email client on my N95-1 (model RM-159). It says it's version 9.04 (21).
Since upgrading, I haven't been able to configure the Access Point to be used by the email app, which used to be under General|Service Info. This is quite important to me, since I only want to let the app work when using WiFi.
Does anyone know what happened, or how can I fix it ?

This works for the E71: for the time being a workaround for the access point problem:
I set my SmartConnect connection (you can only download this from the Download icon on your phone) group as the default APN, I have the client using Wifi if available and the cellular network if not. This MUST be configured at initial setup, ie when you install Nokia Messaging, change it from "default" to the SmartConnect access point group.

  • E90 - Access point in use

    Hi
I changed "access point in use" for incoming mail from default
"Always ask" to another one. I don't know, how to change it back.
In selection are only existing access points. Any idea? Regards

I have a N95 8GB so some things might differ on your phone. Anyway, I have noticed that the mail access point connection is maintained even after downloading all messages. You can check the status of the connection by viewing the menu of your mailbox in 'messaging' and looking for a 'connect/disconnect' tab. If you try to view a link in a message while still connected to the mail access point, the phone will automatically use that existing connection. (There appears to be no 'disconnect after mail retrieval' function which is unsatisfactory IMO.) As far as I can see, your only option would be to manually disconnect from the mailbox connection at which point the 'always ask' prompt would reappear for the web link. I think I understand what you would like to have, but this is not possible I fear because the phone will always opt for the pre-existing connection.

  • Access points defined double times

Hi, after recent upgrade of my N95 8GB firmware to 15.0.015, I noticed that some of the Access Points are defined twice. These doubly-defined access points are all my telco Access Points (MMS AP, Video streaming AP, Internet AP, WAP AP).
If I try to delete one of the, both gets deleted.
I know I can just create them back one by one by getting the settings from my telco. But it seems troublesome, and I am more interested to get at the root cause of the problem to fix it permanently. (When I restored from backup, which I am very sure prior to the back the access points were not appearing double times, they still come back double times on my phone.)

Found it too - it is so bizarre!
I guess, in the big picture, the connections still work but why are they doubled up?

  • Deleting all Access Points (Network/3G/GPRS)

I'm having problems tracing 2 of my mystery access points on my N95.
I've deleted all the network assigned access points Tools > Settings > Connection > Access Points. But when I try to connect using the built-in web browser, there are still 2 Access Points showing.
How can I delete these two? The list of access points are already empty, I even deleted the WLAN connections.
    http://www.gameops.net

These are Packet-data (gprs) connections, not WLAN. Check the English manual on page 127 how to delete.

  • Unable to stop the event logs on access point console

    Hi team,
I have an AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9 access point having ios c1130-k9w8-mx.124-21a.JHB1.
When I am trying to take the console of it there are many logs generated like LWAPP ...Go join the controller, Discover controller etc. and the ap is unable to register to the controller(2112 with ios version 6.0.199.4). I'm trying to enter the command but there are many event msg generated....How do i stop this event log. I tried entering the command no debug all. but still there are many logs...
I want to enter the the following commands
    #lwapp ap  ip address <ip addr>.
    #lwapp a pip default-gateway <gateway ip addr>
    #lwapp ap controller ip addr <controller ip>
    #wr me
Revert me back on urgent basis
    Thanks in advance..

    Thanks Rashika,
Now the access point got registered to the controller..This happened becuse of country Code..
I have changed the country code to UK, Belgium it started working fine.
Initially when it was IN the access point was not getting register..
But now the problem which arised is that the user is unable to get authenticated to the radius server.
Radius server is reachable and we have done every changes required for radius server authentication.
    Users are getting rejected.
Customer is saying that the radius server is in IN domain and the WLC/access point is in UK,BE and hence the users are unable to connect..
    Is it so??
    Rply
    Thanks in advance...

  • How do I make my AirPort Extreme a access point?

I just bought a Time Capsule and now I want to extend my range of my network.  How do I make my AE an access point?

In this case, you will want to configure both base stations in an extended network.
Dynamic WDS - Extending a Wireless Network Setup
If practical, place the base stations in near proximity to each other during the setup phase. Once done, move them to their desired locations.
Open AirPort Utility, and then, select the base station that will connect to the Internet.
Choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then, click Wireless.
Choose “Create a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, select the “Allow this network to be extended” checkbox.
Next, select the base station that will extend this network, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Choose “Extend a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, choose the network you want to extend from the Network Name pop-up menu.
Enter the base station network and base station password if necessary.
Click Update to update the base station with new network settings.
