Charged for data I didn't use including overage charges

       I have had a chronic problem with overage charges for over 2 months now. Each time it has been addressed it has always been blamed on my computer data usage. We  initially had no problems, other than lousy service in our area, UNTIL we went to a store and inquired about upgrading. We were told we were grand fathered in with our existing account but needed to upgrade. We declined at that time due to the higher cost involved. But had to go with a "jet pack" due to our existing wireless "my Fi " going out. Then like magic we started to incur overage charges. Just a coincidence, I am sure. We have upgraded to higher usage, twice, and yet each time our usage is magically over that new higher limit. I un installed my Norton's and  most recently we even started turning off our computer. IN FACT! WE HAVE BEEN GETTING CHARGED FOR APPROX. 0.5 GIGS OF DATA on more than one occasion, EVEN WHEN THE COMPUTER IS TURNED OFF.  COULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS SCAM TO ME?  Gee, do you think when I research this further I will find anyone else that has had this problem? The "Jet Pack" shows nothing is going on. So how long has this jet pack scam been going on? Are the employees at the stores charging our accounts with their usage? Have you sensed my level of anger yet?

    Hello RonB57,
We want to do everything we can to properly report your data usage. After all, managing your usage is the best way to effectively enjoy your wireless service. May I ask is the issue only with your mifi/jetpack device? If so then which model mifi/jetpack do you have? I suggest turning off the mifi/jetpack when not in use. This ensures that data is being transmitted to a wireless device that may be auto-connecting to your account. Please share the details so we can help.
Thank you...

  • Best strategy for data definition handling while using OCCI

    Hi, subject says all.
    Assuming to use OCCI for data manipulation (e.g. object navigation), what's the best strategy to handle definitions in the same context ?
    I mean primarily dynamic creation of tables and columns.
    Apparent choices are:
    - SQL from OCCI.
    - use OCI in parallel.
    Did I miss anything ? Thanks for any suggestion.

    Agreeing with Kappy that your "secondary" backups should be made with a different app. You can use Disk Utility as he details, or a "cloning" app such as CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper that can update the clone periodically, rather than erasing and re-copying from scratch.
    [CarbonCopyCloner|http://www.bombich.com> is donationware; [SuperDuper|http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html] has a free version, but you need the paid one (about $30) to do updates instead of full replacements, or scheduling.
    If you do decide to make duplicate TM backups, you can do that. Just tell TM when you want to change disks (thus it's a good idea to give them different names). But there's no reason to erase and do full backups; after the first full backup to each drive, Time Machine will back up only the changes made since the last backup +*to that disk.+* Each is completely independent.

  • Updated property of rowset is set for data table if I use convertors

    Hi,
    I use data table for update database table. What I use is sale tax table of Pointbase. I use convertors for date effect and tax rate.
    I just change 1 row of data table but Jcreator finds all row are updated. This is a waste of resource and performance. Here is the code (I copied from clip).
    public String saveButton_action() {
    // User event code here...
    log("OnePage: update_action()");
    // BYHAND - Count up the rows with updates (optional)
    int count = 0;
    Iterator keys = dataTable1Model.getDataCache().iterator();
    while (keys.hasNext()) {
    Integer key = (Integer) keys.next();
    com.sun.jsfcl.data.DataCache.Row row = dataTable1Model.getDataCache().get(key.intValue());
    if (row.isUpdated()) {
    count++;
    // BYHAND - Perform the actual update transaction and report results
    try {
    dataTable1Model.commit();
    info("Total rows updated: " + count);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    log("OnePage: Update commit exception", e);
    error("OnePage: Update commit exception: " + e);
    // BYHAND - Re-execute the query to pick up new results
    try {
    dataTable1Model.execute();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    log("OnePage: Update reselect exception", e);
    error("OnePage: Update reselect exception: " + e);
    return null;
    My guess is jCreator compares the text from data table and rowset's cache (???). as I display date and rate in formats I need.
    My data table displays 10 rows so each time I change 1 row jCreator updates 10 rows of the data table.
    Need clarification on this.
    Cheers.

  • I am being charged for data I am not using-can anyone help me?

    My iPhone has started using massive amounts of data without my knowing and my phone bill has gone through the roof! Can anyone help me to stop this happening?

    I am having the same issue with my iPhone 5. AT&T told me it is a current issue with some sort of glitch between there system and iPhone software, and there is supposed to be a patch coming out for it. But no one knows when, I was told some customers already have it. My AT&T rep told me they would credit me all overages since they can see from my average usage that something is drastically wrong. I have been manually turning off my cellular data whenever I'm not using wi-fi and it is still using data like crazy and charging me for it. Never had this problem until about 3 months ago. I'm calling AT&T again tomorrow since the local store is of no use.

    I have been a loyal customer for years and have a hot spot because internet options are very limited in our rural area.  I have stayed with 10G since the beginning.  Most months I don't use the 10G.  Verizon has no problem with me paying for Data I don't use.  This month my daughter comes home from College and she accidentally uses 24G.....14 over get blind sided with $140.00 in overages.  I called Verizon today......stopped in to the store today......My neighbor told me they waved charges for her one time.  Lots of charges.....But I'm am getting no help.  Not even an offer of a payment plan to help me out.  I went back just 6 months and I have over paid for 19G.....Seems like they would like to help out their loyal customers!!!!     Does anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with them?   We are not wealthy....or I would just pay this and walk away......

    There is a big misconception in what customers believe a cell carrier is obligated to do.
    You pay a set price to use up to that amount of xx data. It makes no difference if you use it to the paid limit or way under. Its like peace of mind when you don't have to worry about a data counter.
    Your daughter used the data, your plan is quite clear of what overage charges are. Why should or would Verizon wireless just forgive the charges because you are a customer? Your daughter used the data, get the money from her. That is the responsible thing to do.
    There is no "I have been a loyal customer so please remove the $120, or $250, or $2,000.00 since I did not mean to use it"
    Your electric company, or gas company or any other company does not remove valid charges. Why should Verizon wireless?
    Just pay the invoice and don't think you are being mistreated because Verizon is a business and not a charity.
    Good Luck

  • Can I use JDeveloper for Data mining

    Can I use JDeveloper for Data mining, instead of using stand-alone data miner.
    Secondly, if I can, do we require to create another schema and run all the required scripts for data miner or it is not necessary.
    Thanks in advance.

    ODM 9i provided a JDeveloper Pluggin called DM4J. In ODM 10g, this was replaced by the standalone Oracle Data Miner GUI. In 10g, you can use the API in JDeveloper, but there is no support via wizards or viewers.
    However, models that you create via the API through JDeveloper could be used in Oracle Data Miner for testing, scoring, and model detail viewing.

  • Date type-specific Customizing missing for date type ACTActPln

    Hi all.
    I'm using a Web Service obtained by copying the CRM 7.0 built-in WS APPTACTCRTRC.
    I'm using it to create Appointments using an Adobe Interactive Form.
    It goes everything fine (a Date is created in the system, with all the input data properly set) excepted the dates...
    The WS uses two TIMESTAMPS, TIMESTAMP_FROM for StartDateTime and TIMESTAMP_TO for EndDateTime, whereas the GUI transaction to create Dates accepts dates and times in separated fields.
    Going in Debug I can see that the execution ends with the following error, referred to the involved entity (CRM_APPOINTMENT):
    Date type-specific Customizing missing for date type ACTActPln
    CRM_APPOINTMENT uses date profile 0000000001 with three possible date types: ORDERACTUAL, ORDERPLANNED and ORDERPROPOSED and I cannot find anywhere date type ACTActPln (just to add it in customizing).
    Is anyone able to enlight me?
    Thank you in advance!
    Alessandro
    PS I've years of experience in Java programming but I'm quite new to the SAP world. Maybe the problem is not a problem at all, but it seems to me as such. Even if it has a trivial solution, please let me know. Thx!

    Hi,
    Well I was about to write that you should enter date in decimal format. but you already did that as mentioned in How to set a date in a Form where the bound date format is a decimal?
    In response to following from above thread (copied for others to understand my response)
    Hi all.
    I'm successfully using the LiveCycle Designer and I've managed to remotely create Appointments using a CRM Web Service (a mere copy of APPTACTCRTRC).
    The only problem I'm encountering is that I'm not able to set the dates/times (start and end of the appointment).
    Dragging each of the two fields from the WSDL based Data Connection I obtain a Decimal Field limited to 15 digits.
    How can I write a date and time in such a field?
    I've tried with a retroverse date as YYYYMMDDHHmmss (for example, 20100301124500) but it does not work
    (the appointment is indeed created, but with the start date and time fields filled with
    the current date/time and the end date and time fields filled with the current date and time plus 10 minutes).
    The retroverse date above is only 14 digit long, so, maybe, this is the problem.
    But, given the field definition, I'm not able to fill a blank space between the date and the time.
    I'm not able to put a dot either.
    What should I do?
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you in advance.
    Alessandro
    15 digit in UTC time format here is fraction of second so you should enter 201003011245000 (add one more zero).
    14th Oct 2010 16:00 should be written as 201010141600000, so just try it and and see if it works, I guess if you do not supply end time then by default it will be starttime + 10 min but this is just guess.

  • Rules for Date Determination in Sales Contracts

    Hi everyone,
    I have a need for an "enhanced" rule for date determination to be used in a contract profile for a sales contract.
    In our current system (SAP ECC 6.0) only the following rules are possible to choose:
    01 Today's date
    02 Contract start date
    04 Acceptance date
    05 Installation date
    06 Date contract signed
    07 Billing date/Invoice date
    08 CntrctStDate+contract duration
    09 Contract end date
    In supplement to these I would like to create
    ZZ CntrctStDate+to year end
    This rule should set the end date in the contract according to the following logic.
    If the Contract start date is between YYYY-01-01 and YYYY-05-31 the Contract end date should be calculated to YYYY-12-31 in the current year. Else (if Contract start date is between YYYY-06-01 and YYYY-12-31) the Contract end date should be calculated to YYYY-12-31 in the following year.
    I have searched the IMG and Development Workbench but I canu2019t find any place where it is possible to create own rules like the ones above (that is defined by SAP). Does anyone have a tip on how to proceed?

  • Charged for Data usage I didn't use

    I have been experiencing extreme amounts of data usage for the last two months.  I just checked my usage 6 days into the billing cycle and I am already at a gigabyte.  I have not changed usage habits since I have had this phone.  I have a Samsung Galaxy 4G phone, I do not download pictures, music, or video.  I usually get 10-20 emails a day and use the navigator occasionally. I do not use a mobile hotspot and use WIFI in my home.  I have contacted Verizon about this and they were no help. I noticed on the community forum that many people are experiencing the same problem.  My wife and I each have phones with Verizon and a Verizon home phone all of which are on expired contracts. We have done all the things recommended by the forum and I  now wonder if this is a ploy by Verizon to get us to up the data on our plan.  Is it possible someone can hi-jack the data from a cell phone?  If I don't get this resolved I will be looking for another provider soon.

    No there is no secret ploy by Verizon. Please people enough with the conspiracy theories. Explain how come we never have these issues? We have 5 lines on a 6 GB data plan. That's far below the 10 GB the website recommends. The most data we've used in a month in 2.5 GB. Now if Verizon had this plot to secret up people's data to get them to get higher data plans they are sure doing a lousy job if it on my lines. Am I on Verizon's "do not scam " list or something?
    You may think you have everything set right but obviously you don't. Most of the issues here are with iPhones because Apple stupidly set every to use mobile data as the default and in fact makes it where some apps ONLY work on mobile data. Some apps have background data that use mobile data and do it constantly. I suspect it's your e-mail app. Assuming your phone is a Galaxy S4( you don't really make that clear )  Go to Settings them press Mobile Data set the data usage cycle to the dates that your billing period is and it should tell you EXACTLY which apps are using data during your billing cycle. Then you can press the app and it will tell you how much foreground and background data that app is using.

  • Why am I being charged for data when connected to wifi AND not using my phone?!

    WHY am I being charged for data that I'm not using? At times when I'm asleep AND my phone is connected to wifi?!  This happens at really specific, alternating times like 9:54 pm every day, or 12:01 am, 6:01 am and then 12:01pm and 6:01pm. When I called I was told  "maybe your wifi at home is disconnecting" or "maybe your phone is connecting to atnt or sprint". It's not possible that my phone is disconnecting from wifi every six hours on the dot and, at that exact time, I'm always using data. I find it hard to believe that I live in a HUGE city and my phone magically connects to other networks and I NEVER notice this. Verizon is full of LIARS (and maybe’s) and I'm not convinced that these data charges are a coincidence. I was told to turn off my cellular data to see if the problem resolves itself. Why should I alter my daily life when Verizon is clearly the one with the issue? I hope there's a class action lawsuit because Verizon is trying to get over on everyone! I need answers!

        Hello NotHappy101,
    I think it's quite odd that your data usage is at very specific times. We can certainly take a closer look. Please reply to my Direct Message, so we can get some additional details.

  • Charge for data that will not be used

    I wanted to upgrade my phone to an env3 and was told that I would need to pay an extra $20 for data access.  I informed the rep that I had no interest in data and have it blocked on my phone.  He told me that didn't matter I still had to pay the extra $20 if I wanted the env3.
    I think when my contract is up I will either find something different to quit using a cell phone.

    The enV3 does not require a $20 data plan.  At one point, it was classified as a "3G Multimedia" device, and required a $10 data plan.  People have reported on these boards that they have been able to activate 3G MM phones without a data plan by requesting a data plan when they activate it.
    I suspect that the rep didn't understand what phone you were talking about, since the enV3 is no longer sold by Verizon.  Just get your enV3 and then dial *228 to activate it.  If it tries to add a data plan, you'll be connected with a rep automatically and you can explain that you don't want data and request the block.

Yesterday, When I tried to use it again it's saying that it is disabled for 22 million mins. I treid to restore it by connecting to iTunes but it's not restoring. Kindly Help.

    Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.
    Thanks

    Didn't work in what way.  Are you unable to start it up?  Does it start but then freezes?  Does the screen stay black when you turn it on?
    Try this - press the home and power buttons and keep pressing them until the apple logo appears.

  • I am already paying for data so why is there a charge for tethering?

    I would really like to upgrade my Droid to a Droid 4 and use the WiFi hot spot feature. I have not done so yet because Verizon wants to charge me to use this feature of the phone. This appears to be illegal and I cannot understand and justify paying a monthly fee for something I am already paying for. I have seen a few posts on other websites trying to explain why Verizon or any other provider can charge for enabling a feature and not providing any additional service to the consumer however they are all very flawed attempts. I just want a VERY VERY VERY good reason why this is legal and justifiable. Please give me a convincing argument as to why anyone can charge twice for the same thing.
    Tethering does not increase the data capacity of the phone. Tethering allows the phone to act as a bridge (modem) between a device to the network.
    Q: Does Bandwidth increase?
    A: No, if the bandwidth to your phone is 8 Mbps, enabling tethering does not change the bandwidth therefore if a YouTube video is running on the phone and three other devices tethered to the phone they will be sharing the 8 Mbps bandwidth. This means that each device would only be able to use 2 Mbps of bandwidth under heavy usage. (You will not actually get an even split for several reasons and all combined will be less than 8 Mbps but that is due to overhead and OS limitations.)
    Q: Am I allowed to use more data now that I am paying more?
    A: No, if your data plan is for 2 GB per month, you will be charged extra for using more than 2 GB in one month. This includes the data usage of the phone and other devices while they are tethered to your phone.
    Q: Is there any reason to charge for tethering?
    A: (My opinion but I would like to be proven wrong.) The only possible justifiable reason may be for those who have unlimited data plans. Verizon and other providers must provide a level of service that customers will be pleased with. I could be wrong but it would be difficult for someone to use too much data on their phone alone. (I know there are exceptional cases but this is true for the majority.) Verizon and other providers plan the network based on an average (i.e. 1 GB per month) usage for each phone with data. It is much easier and more likely users would consume more data if a device such as a laptop is tethered to the phone therefore users with unlimited plans would cost the provider more money to increase the bandwidth of the backbone. (Limited plans will be charged more but unlimited data customers are not as there is no limit, which is a problem.)
    IMHO: The right thing for Verizon and other providers to do is to stop requesting that phones be shipped which require a provision from the provider so they can charge for the feature. There is legal precedent that it is illegal for a provider of a service to charge a customer for additional devices using their services if the provider is not providing additional service.
    In order for Verizon and other providers to address issues with network capacity and unlimited data subscribers there are a few options available. One is to provide an incentive for those users to switch from unlimited to limited data plans or provide a credit for a device upgrade, etc. An other option is to keep things as they are with phone provisioning but provide tethering to limited data users for no additional charge and to charge users with unlimited plans for tethering. (BTW: I think is the best option.)
    FYI: I do have an unlimited data plan and would be willing to switch to limited data if tethering were included and the prices were the same. Right now there is no incentive for me to switch to a different data plan especially if I need to pay for tethering in addition to limited data. I currently have an iPad with AT&T service which is an additional fee I am paying but if I drop the AT&T plan, upgrade my phone, and add tethering, I would be paying more and getting less so why should I? (The less is that my iPad would not get email updates, etc. except when I turn the WiFi hot spot on, which I understand runs down the battery so you do not want it on 24x7. Oh, another reason Verizon and others should not charge for tethering as tethering is not available 24x7)
    Please I would like some straight honest answers to why it is legal for Verizon and others to charge for tethering and why I should pay for it.

    I want clarify what I am asking for as I fear that many people may be thinking what Wildman stated which is not true. I think it is presumptuous for Wildman to think that I am not sincere and that I will not award points for a correct answer. The closest one to come to a correct answer thus far is jimfitzgerald however I need to see the policy or something in writing that explains what jimfitzgerald stated.
    To help clarify what I am looking for, I will respond to some earlier posts as I think it may help.
    BTW: I think it is premature to ask that points be awarded but I will put a deadline and a default to this discussion. If I don't see a good answer to this post by next weekend, I plan to award the points to Wildman as the points seem to be of importance. I am actually hoping that a good answer is provided so that it will help anyone else who is in the same situation as myself. I think there must be a good answer as I would hope that carriers would not charge for this feature if they are really not providing an additional service. I also would hope that customers are not gullible enough to pay for something twice which on the surface this appears to be. This does seem to come up enough that the carriers should do a better job explaining what they are providing.

    Quote: "Also, the tethering plan does add capacity to your plan."
    Response: Please provide a reference to the Verizon Source which states this and I will award points as this is an acceptable answer and is what I am looking for as stated in my original post. I cannot just accept a general statement like this as it will carry no wait if I get charged for going over my data limit.

    Quote: "Question #1 ... you will be consuming TWICE as much data ..."
    Response: This is incorrect as the 4G LTE connection will not be able to provide any more data per second than the phone itself. I think you meant to state that you may consume your limit of n GB per month in a period of a week on a laptop verses 3 weeks on the phone which is correct. If you continue to consume data past your limit, you will need to pay more for it so what is your point? If you don't pay more for going over if you have the tethering plan then that makes all the difference. This would be my misunderstanding and would be an acceptable answer. If this is the case, please point me to the Verizon documentation which states this and I will award points.

    Quote: "Question #2 ... You get an ADDITIONAL allowance for your use when you activate a mobile hot-spot."
    Response: This seems to allude to the fact that I may not understand how data usage is counted when tethering is added to your plan. Please provide a reference so I can read it and I will award points. Hopefully we are coming to answer here.

    Quote:  "Question #3 ... but I don't think anyone would be happy with a monthly data bill of $60+ dollars."
    Response: You are correct which is why I am having an issue with this. If I upgrade and keep my current unlimited plan, I will be paying $75 per month for data and tethering. To make matters worse, currently I am not a heavy data user as much of the time I have access to WiFi. I am considering switching to a 2 GB per month plan based on my current usage but I hate to give up my current plan as I will not be able to go back. I will switch however if the tethering was not an added cost or there is in fact an additional data allocation for tethered devices. I already feel that I am overpaying for data based on my current usage. The problem with switching plans is I could see if I have tethering, I may go over one or two months per year as once in a great while I need access and do not have WiFi available.
    FYI: Here is a breakdown of my current usage.
              - Verizon Phone: (Unlimited data @ $45/month) Average Usage 0.23 GB/month
              - AT&T iPad: (2 GB/month @ $25) Average usage 0.89 GB/month
    I do have another problem with switching which is unrelated to the data plan but is related to usage but will increase my cost per month.

    Quote: "Or, in summary, charging for tethering is a way to make the people who use lots of data pay for it, rather than having everyone share the cost whether they use it or not."
    Response: Sorry but my experience is just the opposite.
    I would like to thank everyone who has tried to answer this question. It looks like there may be an answer but I would like to see it explained in black and white from the Verizon site. I cannot switch plans based on posts in this forum alone. If I were to switch then get hit with additional charges one month, I cannot call customer service and say that jimfitzgerald and rcschnoor told me that there was an additional data being provided to tethered devices.
    I hope this helps and I hope this can be answered soon.
