Charging my iPhone in a different country

I will be traveling to South Africa and will be taking my iphone and ipad with me. For what itʻs worth I will also be taking my MBP.
I have the adapter so I can plug my MBP into the wall to charge it up. I am assured that the computer is modulated for use in any country and using the adapter will not fry it to kingdom come.
Here is my question:
I found this device: http://us.kensington.com/html/13926.html (Kensington Travel Plug Adapter). It will allow me to plug my USB devices into any wall outlet for charging.
While the packaging doesnʻt specifically say that itʻs good for use in South Africa, Kensington Tech Support says that if the prongs line up, itʻs usable. (I read somewhere that SA uses the same wiring as some European countries...I just canʻt remember which ones.)
What I am concerned about, however, is whether using the device will fry my iphone/ipad. Are these Apple devices modulated for use in other countries? The Kensington device is an adapter only, it will not convert nor modulate the power coming from the wall outlet.
Or am I just safer plugging both into my computer for recharging?

The supplied iphone charger is a world charger that will work anywhere with the proper adapters. Apple sells such here:

Hi i got giving a iphone 4 in a different country was wondering if i can get it unlocked? so that i can use another sim

You will need to contact the carrier to which the phone is locked.  That carrier locked the phone.  That carrier determines if the phone can be unlocked and the requirements you must meet.  Contact that carrier.  This is NOT an Apple issue.

  • Buying an iphone in a different country.

If i buy an Iphone here in Canada, it should work when i return to my country right?  (New Zealand)

You will need to buy the device direct from Apple that has no affiliation with a carrier, like Rogers for instance, so that the phone will accept any network SIM.
A word of warning, "no contract" or "no subsidery" does not mean it hasn't been locked to a carrier it just means that you will pay the full price but still be tied to a carrier.
The Canadian Apple store seems to sell SIM free iPhones, meaning any network SIM card can be used. However check with the network that you want to use your new iPhone with is an iPhone supplier because with the new iOS 5.1 update networks that do not support the iPhone won't work with the iPhone and also you will need a micro SIM too, you can no longer simply cut your mini SIM down to the same size

  • Iphone 5 change different country sim

hi, i am staying in botswana,& i am having botswan sim card in my iphone5, next month i want to travel india so can i use indian sim card in iphone 5.
    What is the procidure
How to get all files & flolder

You would have to have an unlocked iphone 5 of which is not available yet. If you purchase a locked phone then you would have to ask the carrier if they would unlock it for you. Also your warranty would not be valid in another country if purchased in the united states, its not an international warranty.

  • Apple says my iPhone 5 is locked but I'm currently using it in a different country. How is that possible??

HOw insist that I can use it in a different country when Apple says it's locked?!

You need to ask the carrier the iPhone is locked to, to officially unlock, nothing Apple can do.

    Hi Shawn,
It sounds like the person who installed the hardware didn't install the software properly for you. You should reinstall this to get full functionality and control yourself.
    The process is easy:
) With the computer on, close all programs that are running and put the Creative CD-ROM into your computer's CD or DVD dri've. There are probably several disks; the one that you want should say 'Intallation and Applications CD' on the label.
    2) The Setup program should start automatically in a few moments, but if nothing happens, click your Start menu and choose Run..., then click the Browse button. From the 'Look In' drop-down menu, choose your CD/DVD dri've. In the list of files that appears, choose the one called Setup or Setup.exe.
    3) The Setup program will let you choose what to install. Choose to install everything. There might be two separate Setup processes that start after this: one for the soundcard's drivers, and one for the Creative MediaSource software. Within each process, when you are given the choice of Full, Custom, or Basic, select Full in each case. Follow the instructions in the programs and they will guide you through the setup process.
IMPORTANT: you will likely be given the option to use digital output only to your speakers. Only select this if you have digital speakers, attached to the sondcard through only one digital cable. If your speakers are attached using several cables, you should use analog output.
    4) Once all of the Setup programs are completed, they will probably have you restart your computer.
All of the above should have been done when the card was first installed, but it seems that whoever you paid to do the installation didn't bother with the software install.
After this is all done, you should be able to use all of your speakers. If you are still having trouble, you will be able to follow the instructions that you were given before on how to enable CMSS.
    Good luck!

  • IPhone 4 used in different network in a different country

Bought iPhone here in USA but could I use my iPhone 4 in a different country using their network? The country has the iPhone 4. Also will I have to unlock my iPhone 4?

Your iPhone purchased in the US is locked to AT&T. It will not work on any other carrier in the world. It doesn't matter if they offer the iPhone or not as your iPhone is locked to AT&T.
Your AT&T iPhone can not be officially unlocked as unlocking is done by the carrier and AT&T does not offer this.
If you require an unlocked iPhone to use internationally I would suggest traveling to a country where Apple sells unlocked iPhones, such as Hong Kong, Canada (if purchased directly from Apple), etc.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937
Please keep in mind that the warranty for the iPhone is only available in the country of purchase so if you buy an international iPhone you will have no warranty in the US.

I have an iphone 4s 16gb black. i bought it carrier locked to T-mobile Macedonia, i wanted to ask you is possible to use in T-mobile Croatia, i mean same operatro different country.. greetings

Only the carrier your phone is locked to can authorize the official unlocking of your phone, & fortunately for you T-Mobile in Macedonia offers official unlocking. So, contact them regarding cost/procedure to get your phone unlocked.

  • How to Purchase iTunes Music in a Different Country

    Hi there,
I'm reading that you have to be in a country and you can only download music on that "home" country's site. My problem is that there is music available on iTunes in a different country that I would love to purchase but cannot because I'm not resident there. So... is there a solution to this? Problem is that what I'm looking for is extremely hard to find where I currently live, in fact it's impossible. Is the purchase dependent upon your credit card billing address? Just wondering if there's any kind of solution to the dilemma or whether this is all legal stuff causing the issue. I mean, I can go on-line and purchase an item in, say, Europe, charge it to my North American credit card with the appropriate currency conversion applied. So, why can this not be done in iTunes?
If there's a solution please let me know. Thanks!
    L.

Sorry, but at this time there is no solution. It's due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders.
Is the purchase dependent upon your credit card billing address?
The billing address is primarily to verify your residence in your country.
? Just wondering if there's any kind of solution to the dilemma or whether this is all legal stuff causing the issue.
It is indeed "legal stuff" and there is, I'm sorry to say, no solution. From This Business of Music (10th Edition) (by M. William Krasilovsky and Sydney Shemel) (and thanks to the Mimico Kid for the reference) :
The difficulty of establishing workable business models for digital files (...) extends to where they are sold and where they are played. This is the issue of territoriality, and it is an illustration of how the Internet makes it necessary to reexamine basic assumptions that have been taken for granted (...).
(....) In the music business the primary problem is that copyrights are national and therefore specific rights are tied to national laws and the interpretations of national courts.
(.... T)hough we can one day hope to see the development of common standards with respect to copyright, the fact that the music business is building upon a history of nation-specific contractual relationships means that the goal of universal international standards is not, for the forseeable future, a practical one.
(...) Adding to the difficulty (...) the copyrights themselves may have been assigned to different companies in different territories. The best hope for a cleaner start and a simpler future is worldwide recognition that digital uses are in fact - and should be in law - totally new.
The content owners don't like cross-border sales of CDs either, but there's nothing they can do to stop such sales. They can, though, and do stop cross-border download sales, since if the download stores refuse, the rights holders won't license the tracks to that store.
So unless and until the record companies, et. al, all get together and agree to allow download stores to sell cross-border, there's absolutely nothing Apple or any other download store can do. They have to license for each country individually, and the holders of the rights for a given country may not with to grant such a license, and in some cases there is no one who holds the distribution rights for a given item in your country.

  • Is there a way to download music I purchased in a different country?

I was recently living in the United States, I purchases most of my music while I was there. I have now moved to a different country and bought a new Mac and iPhone, I thought I would be able to download all of my music again with no problem but it's not showing up in my purchased history. Is there a way to re-download it?

As well as being tied to the account, all content is also tied to the country that it was downloaded in.
You have to be in a country to use its store - unless you move back to the US and have a US billing address on your account then you won't be able to potentially redownload them.
Have you not been keeping and maintaining a backup a copy of all your downloads/library ? Even if you hadn't moved countries you are not guaranteed to be able to redownload any item (you are only guaranteed one download of each item), any item could be removed from the store by the rights-holders at any time.

  • Found a dead spider in my charging port (iphone 4) this morning. Now phone wont charge at all... What can I do? It's now all totally cleared of lint and legs :/

This morning my phone wouldnt charge, I tried three different charging cables. They are lighting up to show they are working, but the phone does not charge or show a symbol or connect to the computer.
So i cleaned out the lint from inside the charging port. and inside all the chargers, some of them were new off the shelf so would not be the problem.
I found a dead spider inside the port. Have blown into it, thoroughly cleaned with a needle any debris and fluff and spider legs etc...
It still wont charge. I have ten percent battery... it's off for now. It is not covered for a chat with apple at all, unless i pay $40 which is crazy expensive.
Any ideas of what to do to save this phone? Obviously i cant back it up because it wont plug in to anything.
For now it is not on charge, just trying to let it dry out.
Probably i squashed this spider when plugging it in. therefore there could be spider guts all ruining the inside? I don't know how the ports are made. Up until not charging
there were no issues at all.

    Hi lisellemono1,
I'm sorry to hear you are having charging issues with your iPhone; I know how frustrating that can be. Based on your description and the possibility that there may be other debris or residue still in the charging port, you may need to have your iPhone evaluated or serviced. • Error Message When Leaving Review For Apps Downloaded Using a Different Country App Store

    DEVICES AND SOFTWARE:
    iPhone 6 Plus iOS 8.1.2, Macbook Air 11" 2013 OSX 10.10.2, iTunes 12.1.0.50
    DESCRIPTION:
When attempting to leave a review for an App that has been previously downloaded or purchased using a different country store but on the same Apple ID - the user receives an error message. The issue stems from the App not being in the Purchase History of the presently associated country store as purchase history is country dependent rather than Apple ID dependent.
    STEPS:
    1. Login the App Store on iTunes or iOS Device using an Apple ID associated with a country.
    2. Download an App for the first time using said Apple ID.
    3. Change the country of said Apple ID.
    4. Attempt to leave a review of the previously downloaded app.
    EXPECTED RESULTS:
A user should be able to leave a review to an App he/she has previously downloaded whilst the Apple ID is associated with a different country. The App Store button should show Downloaded after the country change and the App should continue to be displayed in the Purchase history. In other words the purchase history should not be country dependent but Apple ID dependent.
    ACTUAL RESULTS:
User gets an error message indicating that the app needs to be downloaded or purchased first.
    NOTES:
I have tried deleting my reviews from the original country store, and yet I am still not able to leave a review. Please make the purchase history dependent on the Apple ID rather than the Country Store. If this is not possible, provide a way for users to remove to delete the purchase history from the previous country store(s) - so these apps can appear on their current country store's purchase history. Thus they would be able to leave reviews for these apps.
