Charging Tax before Discount

It has been explained to me that some states, California is one of them, charge tax before the discount.  I can't seem to figure out how to get SAP Business One to support this.  Has anyone else encountered the same issue and if so, how did you solve it?
Thanks in advance,
Donald

Hi Donald,
Whether the discount is in row level or footer, end result is the same - the tax is calculate post-discount... if you want to keep it within the core SBO product, you may be able to do it but it would require some setup.
A colleague of mine set up within the tax codes a way for a customer to calculate the self-assessment tax rate and such. You may be able to do the same here but it will depend on what kind of discounts are given - would it be on whole order and/or specific items. You would need a tax code to capture every variable, which could be a complex setup. Other way may be SDK.
If this is how taxes are calculated in the US, you have a good case for SAP to revise how taxes are set up for US localization by submitting a Product Development request that has legal requirements involved. I believe these are given priority. Submit a support message for this and they will have someone review the request.

  • Other Charges on total before discount value

    Hi Experts,
I faced an issue while generating sales quotation, apart from tax code we need to put other charges on the total before discount value of the documents like UT charges,P&F charges, Tarnsit Insurance and TPI Charges.
However these other charges percentage are variable in nature it depend upon the customer to customer(C2C).
Please put some light on this major issue of sales process.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Amit Tyagi

    Hi Amit,
In the lines of the quotation there is only place for 3 sorts of freight charges, but I think this will be the most easy to use for you.
At first you have to setup your freight charges: Administration > General Settings > General > Freight
Define your different charges there, so you can use them in the sales quotation.
After you have done that, you can open the sales quotation and take a look at the freight charges that is displayed under the document discount. If you click on the golden arrow, you can see the defined freight costs and give in the ammounts.
You can also do this in the lines, open the form settings for the sales quotation and make the freight costs visible in table format. It is possible to make formatted searches on these colums.
I have one question remaining at this moment: Do you want to see the extra costs on the lay-out?
    Kind regards,
    Hendri Wessels

  • Total Before Discount

    Hi,
Is there a property in the Sales Order Document to get the Total Before Discount ?

    Hi Binita, Hi Marc,
    Effectivly your formula is correct.
In my application i don't activate Rounding. So the value is only 0.
To calculate the total before discount :
Total document - rounding - Tax + discount.
(DocTotal - TotalExpns - VatSum + DiscSum --> SQL fields)
(DocTotal - Rounding - VatSum + TotalDiscount --> Properties DIAPI)

  • Charged Tax on Advanced Warfare Season Pass

On 12/14, I purchased the Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Season Pass for XBox One at Store 461.  I was charged tax on the $50.00 price and I feel that the product should not be taxed.  The season pass is effectively Microsoft Currency and the currency for the various video game systems is not taxed at the POS.  Rather, you pay tax when you purchase something from the particular store (Microsoft, PSN, or Nintendo eShop).
When I redeemed the content, I had to pay tax again and there is certainly something not right with that.  It would be one thing if the value of the card included the tax, but it does not.
I went to the store today to ask about getting the tax refunded and I was told no.  I was also told that I should contact "them" (meaning Microsoft) because Best Buy doesn't have control over whether it is taxed.  I disagree.  It is wholly within the power of the company to ensure that products that should not be taxed are not taxed.  Other retailers, like Gamestop do not tax the Season Pass.  Even Best Buy does not tax the e-currency of the various video game systems, so why should this be different?
All I would like is a refund of the $4.07 tax that I paid.

    Hi darrell521,
Thanks for your post. I'd like to research this further. Due to the holiday, it may be next week before I have an update (as I need to partner with other business teams), but rest assured I will follow up with some clarification and resolution as soon as I am able. If you need anything in the meantime, please reach out to me here.
    I appreciate your ongoing patience,

  • How long has Itunes/app store been charging tax on purchases?

I purchased something for 99 cent today and received my bill and I have an 8 cent charge. Was there ever anything sent out about apple planning on charging taxes on itunes purchases? It's inconvenient to buy those gift cards when the card denominations don't allow for tax.

I think it may depend on where you live. Have you moved recently?
From the stores Terms of Sale...
+iTunes Store transactions will include sales tax based on the bill-to address and the sales tax rate in effect at the time your transaction is completed. If the sales tax rate for the billing address changes before the purchased or rented (as applicable) digital content is downloaded, the new tax rate in effect at the time of download will apply. We will only charge tax in states where digital goods are taxable. No customers are eligible for tax exemptions for transactions made on the iTunes Store.+

  • Report to check Taxes before posting invoice to accounting..

    Hi All,
Could you please help me if there are any report  to see the taxes before  the invoices are posting to accounting?
If we dont have it in invoice level then its ok if we can check the taxes at  sales order level.
In sales order i undestand we can  check in VBAK-Doc Condition field pull the sales order to KONV to enter the Doc condition # that  shows all the condition types and values.
However, this does not show the sales order number and it wont be helpful at user level.
Hope there should be some standard report for this function and seeking help here.
    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards,
    Ram

    Hi Ram
Instead of letting users report on taxes, rather tighten up on controls within SAP:
    1. Make tax condition types mandatory in the pricing procedure(s)
    2. Configure the tax condition types such that only automatically determined values are allowed
    3. Ensure that you have tax condition records to deal with all eventualities (including zero value condition records).

  • Optimizing iPhone battery life: Between charges and before replacement

FYI. An excellent iPhone battery care article by iPhoneAtlas.com:
Optimizing iPhone battery life: Between charges and before replacement
    http://www.iphoneatlas.com/2007/07/09/optimizing-iphone-battery-life-between-cha rges-and-before-replacement/

OK, I agree that is a completely false statement. The rest of the article is pretty good.
If you assume a linear decrease in battery charge for each full cycle (which it really isn't, but much easier to model in a spreadsheet). Then 80% of original charge after 400 full cycles is approximately 0.8% loss in battery charge per full charge cycle (again this is a simplification, stay with me). This means that after 400 cycles, you are at approximately 80% of your original total charge level. As stated by Apple.
So, extrapolating that out to EOL (end of life) which Apple assumes to be 50% battery charge, it would take approximately 1,000 full charge cycles for your battery to be EOL (according to Apple). It would actually be slightly less than that since it won't be a linear function.
For me, that's 2 to 4 years of use depending on whether or not I continue using the iPhone as much as I have this first full week.

  • HOW TO GET TOTAL BEFORE DISCOUNT AMOUNT IN MARKETING DOCUMNET

    HI.
I need one requirement in this,
i need to capture the Total before discount amount at A/R invoice.
i checked in tables Discount and Discount amount will be come below Total before Discount amount
but Total Before Discount Amount i am not able to get it from the Database.
    Any information plz Update me.

    Hi Srinivas,
As already answered by Seniors that you have to apply Formula to get Total before Discount. Please check below
    Total Before Discount =  ( DocTotal + DiscSum - VatSum )
If you want to put FMS then please try below FMS for Header Level
    SELECT ( $[OINV.DocTotal] + $[OINV.DiscSum] - $[OINV.VatSum] )
    Hope this helps

  • Invoice field "Total Before Discount"

I am importing data via DTW to an invoice. I am then trying to apply a 10% discount. However, the 10% doesn't apply because the field "total before discount" is empty.
I have tried to look at importing in to this field but can't find which field to update and I also thought that it would update automatically from the line items?
Although perhaps it's not updating because by adding the items codes and qty during the import it doesn't then set the Total (LC) field. Do I have to set this?

    HI,
Ya,you just add the discount in its respective field along with the previous details(like neceesary standard information for that invoice) and update it through DTW....

  • Total Amount before Discount do not match Row total

    Hi,
I have this scenario for my A/R invoice. The amount in the the total (lc) column do not match with the total before discount field.
So, when I tried to create Cm for this invoice I encountered an error: There is a difference between total and it's contents.
What is the possible cause for this and how will I resolve this?
    Thanks!

    Hi Nelle,
If you are create any UDF related to this calculation at row level then first remove it then check it.
There are no any UDF created then upgrade your PL..

  • Total Before Discount field.

    Hi, evrybody!
Can you show me about what table store Total Before Discount field..in SQL tables
Can you help me! Thank you.

    Hi,
The total before discount is the sum of the line total which are stored in the lines table.
    For an example ,
    Sales Order,
SELECT SUM(PriceBefDi),docentry FROM RDR1 WHERE DOCENTRY = "docentry value" group by docentry.

  • Wrongly Activated Extended Withholding tax before data conversion

    Hi all,
In 1099 Reporting for US, I have activated Extended Withholding Tax before conversion of data from Classical to Extended Withholding Tax. I have done this in Development system with transport request.
If anybody has come across similar situation, pl help me with your valuable inputs.
    1. Will I be able to deactivate the extended withholding tax and do the data conversion and activate again.
    2. If not, what will be the consequences of not doing the data conversion of existing data.
Kindly help me to come out of this crisis.
    Thanks in advance.
    San.

    Hi,
    Yes it will be possible.
I haven't really faced this situation in EWT, but in another similar migration.
I do not know the extent of customisation you did for EWT or whether the documents you posted after activating did get posted in the EWT area.
The only place I think you may face will be in the migration itself, where these documents may give you errors is in the actual data migration step.  But there would be some solution for that.
You need to see what options you have.  Can you let this situation continue?  Was this migration not a prep for doing the migration in production or just a test?  If not then you will need to do something.  This should have no impact on any migration you plan for the other systems (Quality/Production) in the landscape.
You can log in an OSS message just in case.
    Cheers...

  • Message no. TPM_TRAC1209 (Charge / Tax from 30.10.2009 was fixed (test run)

    Good morning people.
We are having the following issue when running T-code TBB1.
We created 2 additional movements for Money Market products. If we DON´T include these 2 movements in Money Market contract and then run TBB1 we don´t have any issue, but whenever we use these 2 additional movements we get the following message:
Charge / Tax from 30.10.2009 was fixed (test run)
    Message no. TPM_TRAC1209
This message prevents the accounting document creation.
Have anybody already passed throuhg this situation?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Volnei Luiz.

    Hi,
Please check whether it is just an information message.  Generally these kinds of messaged are information messages only.
If you defined withholding taxes and all then check whether you have defined the corresponding accounts properly.
Also remove the test run and check.
Please specify what kind of movements you have defined.
    Regards,
    Ravi
