ChaRM Action 'Transport into Sandbox System'

Hi,
How the action 'Transport into Sandbox System' works.
Wanted to know how this action works & in TMS do we need to map sandbox client.
From sand

Hi PK,
answer is Yes for the STMS and also you need to have a system defined as single type within maintenance cycle you re working in. Solman will be using your tasklist structure to understand which system is supposed to receive the import
Since a couple of stacks it became possible to actually define the role type of system that is supposed to receive the import of TR. I mean by role type the kind of system like you define in STMS when declaring a logical component

  • UNABLE TO IMPORT TRANSPORT INTO QA system.

I am trying to load Transport Request (Customizing) from DEV to QAS.
The Request has been released in DEV system using SE10, But the released request is not showing up in QAS queue.
I have performed all 3 test (TP, Transport Directory etc) , and it does not show any error (All Success).
Central Transport Directory is accessible from both System.
When both DEV , QAS are part of same Transport Route, its not allowing me to import, its not even showing up in the import queue of QAS and even If I try to add the request manually to QAS queue then still it's empty.
Then I went into Transport Route on Domain controller and make it as Single Standard System and then went to QAS import queue and added that request and it shows up then.
How can I correct this issue, what part am I missing.
I already searched the forum, but did not find a solution to this. Need to resolve this soon.

When both DEV , QAS are part of same Transport Route, its not allowing me to import, its not even showing up in the import queue of QAS and even If I try to add the request manually to QAS queue then still it's empty.
It's depend on the way you configure your transport management system. If you define a consolidation route between DEV-QA, it will come on the QA queue when you release any request from DEV. While generating any request in Dev system what you found as target system SID ? You have to check these things.

  • Service Group is blank after transporting into IST system

    Hi All,
We have 2 CE 7.2 systems as DEV and IST which are well connected to NWDI. In DEV NWDI track, we have many WDJava components which consume web services available on DEV system. For these services, we have created a Service Group which has all these services inside it. IN DEV, I have assigned the local system to all these services inside the service group and it works fine.
Then we released all our components to IST system and this service group also got deployed in IST. I configued the service group also in IST to point it to proper system. Then some how after releaseing some new activites, all the references in IST service group are valished but the consumer proxies in IST for these services show they are part of service group.
We released new activity for service group also from Dev to IST but still the service group in IST is blank.
Can anyone explain why this could have happened and any solution for this?

    Hello Panda,
Please make sure that all the report elements are collected while transporting, because some elements might have got missed or not collected in the transport request. You can collect the same report again in a new transport and check it.
    Thanks

  • Manually delete Transport system - Sandbox system

    Hi All
I am have a problem with our transport system on or sandbox system and basically what I want to do it get rid of it and set it up locally.
As our system is a copy of our PRD it still has all the old config, what I would like to do is remove it in the database. Does any one know how to do this?
It is a bit of a 'fudge' but seems the easiest way to do it.
    Many Thanks in advance
    Phil

    hello,
Just delete (if necessary) the STMS configuration and describe your transport planning so that we can help you.

  • Transporting into a new BW system from a shared dev system

We are currently in the process of setting up a new BW system in the same landscape as our existing one where both boxes will share the same dev system.  Our existing one is used by many different applications and has tonnes of shared objects on it.  Our new box will only be used for SEM-BCS and thus does not need everything else that the other box contains.  Since many objects are dependant on others (attributes and such) I am finding it hard to get transports into the new system.  There always seems to be something missing even when I try to just move a single object.  I also seem to be having troubles with InfoObject Catalogs where they cannot be moved if the InfoObjects are not there and the InfoObjects a cannot be moved with the Catalogs not there.  This is all starting to give me a serious headache.
Has anyone delt with transporting to separate systems from a common development system?  What is the best approach to this to ensure we only move what we need to the new system?

The transporting is the same, however there are a lot of dependant objects that also need to be brought into our system.  I'm looking for a way to minimize what I need to transport into our new system.
Collecting automatically doesn;t seem to be working for me since it does not collect everything I need and when I add that missing object I then seem to be missing another list of objects.  It seems to be a never ending cycle.

  • CHARM: Double logon popup in transport to test system

    Hi Colleagues,
In Charm, when transporting OTs to test system, we have two  logon popup screens where we have to insert our user and password. Why do we have to repeat logon? Is there possible to register user and password only once?

  • Which problems transporting a kernel of functionalities from sandbox system

    Hi All,
we are developing a kernel of functionalities on a ECC 6.0 sandbox system. Now we want to transport this kernel from sandobox system (AD0) to our development system (EPD). So all the new developments will be made from EPD. We have read the oss note 130906 about the copy of the complete version history of all AD0 repository objects. Which could be other kind of problems?
    Regards,
    Bob

    Anthony,
Yes. Your interpretation is correct. Objects which are trying to import are already in change mode of some other XI change request.
Just check if you / any other person has imported any other object before using differnt User ID and not activated yet.
    Solution:
What you need to do is goto ID and select "Change List". Under change list select User ="ALL" and click on display..it will show you all change request( which are not activated) for all users.
Right click on "Standard change list" under "change request name" and click on transfer...it will tranfer rrequest on your name..and you can activate them.
Once you activate this you shall be able to import your objects again.
Always remember to import one IB objecs file and activate it before importing new one...also import using same user id so that you will not get this kind of conflict.
Note : When you import IR object ...they get imported in Active status where as you have to manually activate IB objects after importing.
Hope this will solve your problem..
Let us know if you need more details.

  • ChaRM SPAU Adjustements transport on managed system upgrade

    Hi,
We are suing ChaRM 7.1 to manage our transports in our ERP 6.0 landscape. That landscape is now being upgraded to EhP7 and we've just completed the upgrade in DEV.
Here's my question; How are we supposed to handle the SPAU Adjustment if we want SUM to automatically move that transport to subsequent systems QA-PROD.
Are we supposed to handle the transport using ChaRM or let the SUM tool process the transport automatically going forward?
    Thanks
    Stephane

    Hi Syed,
If the RFC connection from Solution Manager to ERP system connects with the current user, then the user who is performing this step in solution manager is missing the authorization in ERP system.
If the RFC connection is with an RFC user, then check the permissions of the RFC user in ERP system.
You can check which user is accessing the RFC connection in SM59.
S_RFC and S_RFCACL are the auth objects which are missing in ERP system. Provide the access and then check.

    Laxman

  • Did YOU Transport the 'Remodeling Rule' into QA system and Scheduled it ???

    Hi all,
I have created a 'Remodeling Rule' of BI 7.0 feature to add a characteristic to the InfoCube
and successfully transported this 'Remodeling Rule' into QA system.
Do we have to keep the CLIENT open before we start the 'Schedule' of  'Remodeling Rule' in QA or Prod systems?
Could you PLEASE answer it if YOU have really worked on the 'Remodeling Rule'. PLEASE....
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Venkat.

    Hi Venkat,
You can keep the Client Open in QA when you are applying an Remodelling Rule.
Once you created Remodelling Rule. you can start Immdetely to schelude.
However In Prod, you need to Close the Client before you apply the Remodelling Rule (You have to option to schedule it later if youare directly applying it in Prod box) or Trasport to Prod from QA.
Because the charateristic which youadded to the cube should not afftects the REports created on that perticular Cube.
    Rewards points if helpfull

  • Best Practice: Migrating transports to Prod (system down etc.)

    Hi all
This is more of a process and governance question as opposed to a ChaRM question.
We use ChaRM to migrate transports to Production systems. For example, we have a Minor BAU Release (every 2 weeks), a Minor Initiative Release (every 4 weeks) and a Major Release (every 3 months).
We realise that some of the major releases may require SAP to be taken offline. But what is SAP Best practice for ANY release into Production? i.e. for our Minor BAU Release we never shut down any Production systems, never stop batch jobs, never lock users etc.
What does SAP recommend when migrating transports to Prod?
    Thanks
    Shaun

Have you checked out the "Two Value Releases Per Year" whitepaper for SAP recommendations?  Section 6 is applicable.
Lifetime Support by SAP » Two Value Releases per Year
The "real-world" answer is going to depend on how risk-adverse versus downtime adverse your company is.  I think most companies would choose to keep the systems running except when SAP forces an outage or there is a real risk of data corruption (some data conversions and data loads, for example).
Specific to your minor BAU releases, it may be wise to make a process whereby anything that requires a production shutdown, stopped batch jobs, locked users, etc. needs to be in a different release type. But if you don't have the kind of control, your process will need to allow for these things to happen with those releases.
Also, with regards to stopping batch jobs in the real world, you always need to balance the desire to take full advantage of the available systems versus the pain of managing the variations.  If your batch schedule is full, how are you going to make sure the critical jobs complete on time when you do need to take the system down?  If it isn't full, why do you need that time?  Can you make sure only non-critical batch jobs run during those times?  Do you have a good method of implementing an alternate batch schedule when need be?
