Charm Questions

1. What is a difference between a template project and implementation project? If a company is doing a template project and they want to create a project should they assign it as a template project or implementation project. What are the pro's and con's for it?
2. Can I add a extra tab in solar02 so that I can create the Change Request from SOLAR02?
3. What is the best way to sync the production and devlopement system in solution manager. I have a scenario where there are lot of changes done in production system directly. Now the dev system is not in sync with prod. Can you tell me the best way please.I thought of doing system copy but is there any other best way.
Thanks,

Hi Archana,
1. The Template project type is considered for multi site implementations or can serve as an authoring environment to develop Best Practices, e.g. created by implementation partners.
   If you create a template project you can select predefined scenarios from template projects.
   You can transport template projects to other SAP Solution Manager systems.
   Apart from that, General documents maitained in the template project, can be used in all the              implementation project which use this template.
(if you need more explanation let me know)
2. In SOLAR02 you cannot add any extra tabs.

  • CharM questions (mix Transport strategy)

    Hi ChaRM-experts!
    I plan to map the existing transport landscape into ChaRM scenario of SOLMAN and have the following questions:
    1) Is it possible to combine ChaRM-functionality and still use the old transport settings (without ChaRM) for the same system landscape:
    DEV --> QAS --> VO1 (Without ChaRM and with virtual system)
    DEV:101 --> QAS:101 --> PRD:101 (With SOLMAN ChaRM)
    Can e.g. the target group concept help in this situation?
    2) Is it possible, after the CharM implementation, to allow the developers create transports in DEV system?
    Thank you very much!

  • Charm Question

    I am busy with a charm implementation for a customer in SA. They have specific requirements in regards to approvals on their different landscapes. They dont want to use the normal correction in charm because of the project phase's. So I am going to make a copy of the urgent correction trans type SDHF and add in additional actions and status to meet their requirements. I would just like to know if it is possible to have multiple so called "urgent corrections" linked to one incident? And if this is possiable how will the import of transports work?

    Hi Santosh,
    With the standard change request you are correct that you cannot create a urgent correction from the request when it is approved, but you can configure the request to enable you to create a correction message.
    With the standard support message in 7.0 you can create multiple change requests from one incident.  You can also change which follow-on document is created from a support message, and change the follow-on document depending on the subject field.
    I would question the approach you are describing because I would be concerned about how the organisation can ensure that the transport landscape is consistent.
    Also you should remember that in 7.1 you have different transaction types, so the more specialised transaction types that are created in 7.0 the more work it will be to upgrade.
    Good luck!

  • Solution Manager - ChaRM question - Scheduling periodic transports

    Hi
    We have a requirement to schedule transports to QAS at every 15 minutes. In the schedule manager, I don't see the option for specifying the time in hours or minutes. The minimum is a day. We tried to schedule the job through SM36 with program, /TMWFLOW/SCMA_TRORDER_IMPORT. It's just running,but not importing the transports. Any guidance is appreciated

  • Best Practice: Migrating transports to Prod (system down etc.)

    Hi all
    This is more of a process and governance question as opposed to a ChaRM question.
    We use ChaRM to migrate transports to Production systems. For example, we have a Minor BAU Release (every 2 weeks), a Minor Initiative Release (every 4 weeks) and a Major Release (every 3 months).
    We realise that some of the major releases may require SAP to be taken offline. But what is SAP Best practice for ANY release into Production? i.e. for our Minor BAU Release we never shut down any Production systems, never stop batch jobs, never lock users etc.
    What does SAP recommend when migrating transports to Prod?
    Thanks
    Shaun

    Have you checked out the "Two Value Releases Per Year" whitepaper for SAP recommendations?  Section 6 is applicable.
    Lifetime Support by SAP » Two Value Releases per Year
    The "real-world" answer is going to depend on how risk-adverse versus downtime adverse your company is.  I think most companies would choose to keep the systems running except when SAP forces an outage or there is a real risk of data corruption (some data conversions and data loads, for example).
    Specific to your minor BAU releases, it may be wise to make a process whereby anything that requires a production shutdown, stopped batch jobs, locked users, etc. needs to be in a different release type. But if you don't have the kind of control, your process will need to allow for these things to happen with those releases.
    Also, with regards to stopping batch jobs in the real world, you always need to balance the desire to take full advantage of the available systems versus the pain of managing the variations.  If your batch schedule is full, how are you going to make sure the critical jobs complete on time when you do need to take the system down?  If it isn't full, why do you need that time?  Can you make sure only non-critical batch jobs run during those times?  Do you have a good method of implementing an alternate batch schedule when need be?

  • ITSM: Workload of the resources

    I am starting a project of ITSM implementation.  Solman 7.1 SP10
    I am evaluating scenarios for our client,
    And I was wondering if there is  a way to establish the priority to manage the workload of the resources beyond the actual priority of the incident.
    Is there a way to have effort estimation and redistribution of workload.

    Hi,
    If I understood your requirement, I suggest you that creation of distribution list and email trigger for those DL whenever the ticket created based on BRF+ rules. hence every one in the OU ( organizational unit) receives the Email and whomever free can pick and work on it.

  • AIRMenuBuilder Question (Third Time's A Charm?)

    This will be the third time I've posted this same question in
    various ways. Having received no responses, I'm wondering if anyone
    out there is actually using AIRMenuBuilder....but here goes anyway:
    Once I've created a root menu with AIRMenuBuilder, can I
    replace it with another? For example, my initial menu has 5
    horizontal, top-level items (A,B,C,D,E). The first four (A,B,C,D)
    have submenus, but when the fifth (E) is selected, I'd like to
    overwrite the initial horizontal menu with a new one.
    The menus are created from JSON files, and the onSelect
    events are handled by Javascript. Running into the "Adobe AIR
    runtime security violation for JavaScript code in the application
    security sandbox," I created a parent sandbox bridge. The value of
    the new JSON file is successfully passed (and displayed in alerts),
    but I'm still getting a security violation and the new menu does
    not appear. Relevant snippets below.
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions you could offer.
    Snippet 1 from index.html:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var root = air.ui.Menu.createFromJSON ("menus/rootmenu.js");
    air.ui.Menu.setAsMenu (root);
    var bridgeInterface = {};
    var newRootMenu = bridgeInterface.newRootMenu;
    bridgeInterface.newMenu = function(newRootMenu){
    var menuSource = "menus/" + newRootMenu + ".js";
    alert(menuSource); // displays properly, with correct values
    root = air.ui.Menu.createFromJSON(menuSource);
    alert('About to put up a new menu...'); // never displays,
    security violation must be line above
    air.ui.Menu.setAsMenu(root);
    alert('Well, we tried putting up a new menu, but...'); //
    never displays
    function engageBridge(){
    document.getElementById('contentArea').contentWindow.parentSandboxBridge
    = bridgeInterface;
    alert('Bridge is engaged!'); // displays properly
    </script>
    Snippet 2 from index.html:
    <iframe
    id="contentArea" name="contentArea" bgcolor="white"
    width="100%" height="98%"
    src="
    http://192.168.x.x/local/ui.html"
    sandboxRoot="
    http://192.168.x.x/local/"
    documentRoot="app:/sandbox/"
    ondominitialize="engageBridge()"></iframe>
    Snippet from print.js:
    case "E":
    var menuName = "eMenu";
    bridgeInterface.newMenu(menuName);
    break;

    :) Third time is lucky. Jokes aside, I apologize for the late
    response. I forgot to subscribe to the earlier thread.
    You should be able to replace the root menu using the
    setAsMenu(newMenu, true) call.
    createFromJSON() does an eval() call to parse the JSON
    object. eval() is only allowed in the application sandbox while the
    application is starting up. Take a look at JSONDataSource in
    AIRMenuBuilder.js. If you can modify that to parse the JSON string
    in any other way other than via eval() (as3corelib has a JSON
    parser) you'll have what you want.
    In your case, I think simply using the XML way to load a menu
    should solve your problem. You don't need the bridge.
    P.S: And don't worry, this time I've subscribed to this post.
    :)

  • CHaRM-Is that possible to create multiple Transport Request in UC

    HI Gurus,
    Quick question on ur.gent correction using Solution Manager CHaRM in EHP1. Is it possible to create multiple transport request(TR) for single ur.gent correction (UC). DO NOT confuse with transport task.
    For example, after I created transport request and developer start working and release the task, realised to add another transport request for same UC. When I tried, it did not create any TR but checked the message found that
    Schedule Manager: Monitor
    Job Status: Processing completed, but with warnings
    Program Name: /TMWFLOW/SCMA_TRORDER_CREATE
    Action to be checked: Ur.gent Correction: Create Transport Request
    There is already an open request, XXXXXXXXXX, for this project
    So only way I can do that I released the TR and able to create another TR.
    May be wondering why I need to create another TR, why not create TASK and work on that.
    But this is the requirement at our company.
    I will appreciate the effort and time to provide me the solution of this.
    Thanks
    Ava

    Hi Ragu,
    That's really quick turn around. Unfortunately not able to found whatever you mentioned in your message. Here is detail,
    I navigate to Actions - Depending on Status, found the entry as
    Trans. Type     StatProf         UserStatus     Seq     Action in SAP Change Manager
    SDHF             SDHFHEAD   E0002            10       CREATE_HF
    SDHF             SDHFHEAD   E0002            20       CREATE_REQ
    SDHF             SDHFHEAD   E0002            30       SAVE_PARTNER
    SDHF             SDHFHEAD   E0002            40       SET BO LINKS
    Where SDHF - Ur.gent Correction
               E0002 - In Development
               CREATE_HF -        Create an Instance in SAP Change Manager
               CREATE_REQ -     Create Transport Request with Task
               SAVE_PARTNER - Save Partners in Respective Partner Roles
               SET BO LINKS -     Sets Links to Business Objects
    I don't see any OPEN_TR.
    Any other place need to make change.

  • Merging Java Transport request with Abap Transport Request in Charm

    Hello All,
    We have activated the Change request Management in Solution Manager. Therefore transport request of type workbench and customising can be created when you choose action 'Create Transport Request'.
    However we have some SAP systems that have CTS+ integrated which allows to generate transport request number and attach objects in PI Integration Directory  - java transports.
    Question is - Is there a way we can integrate the java transports generated in these SAP systems  with Solution Manager  CHarm and transport creation.
    Or can we assign the java transports to charm in any way.
    We are basically looking for how  when users create Charm, the abap and java transports relating to the charm are generated and created only from  Solution Manager manager or how these two transports can be linked together in Solution Manager.
    Thanking you in advance for your help.
    Tolly

    Hello Friends
    I have read the links and followed the instructions and tried to create object
    TABLENAME   R3TR  TABU and tried to save it.
    I keep getting a warning message
    Note: ZTABLE1 is an application table
    Object TABU ZTABLE1 has object function "k", but no key.
    (I don't know what key to enter. I tried the Key field name, but it said 'Enter Numeric values only').
    If I ignore and save and try to create transport request and then import it on a different server, again only table structure is getting transported and not the contents/data of the table.
    I would appreciate if some one can please let me konw what I am doing wrong.
    Thanks

  • How to turn off the Charms Bar in Windows 8.1

    I have a new HP laptop with Windows 8.1. I absolutely HATE the charms bar. It's very annoying. I have turned off the corner function so the Charms bar no longer pops up if I swipe the corner edges, however, it still pops up randomly. I'll be typing along and it'll just pop up, blocking whatever I'm working on.
    I have absolutely no need for this charms bar. In fact, the only thing I've used it for is to get to the option to turn them off. However, on this laptop, that doesn't completely turn them off.. I have tried going to the mouse control panel to turn them off, but that option isn't offered. However, I don't think it's the mouse pad causing them to pop up anyway.. I'll be typing along, not even touching the mouse pad, and they'll just suddenly pop up.
    What is the cause of this and how can I get rid of it? I'm getting rather desperate and at times feeling the need to throw this laptop out the window!!! I much preferred my HP Windows XP laptop, and only replaced it because XP is no longer supported.. Window's 8.1 is one of the most frustating systems Microsoft has come up with.
    Please help me to turn these dang things off for good!!
    UPDATE: I think I found the solution. I received this link from a Microsoft Chat Line Employee. I followed the directions and the charms seem to be gone.. YAHOO...
    Here's the link:

    UPDATED UDATE: lol... I posted this below, but will repost here.. The solution given to me by the Microsoft Chat Line employee did not work.. Well, it worked for one day, I shut it down for the night, and when I turned it back on in the morning, the charms were back with a vengence.. Seriously, worse than ever before, popping out constantly.  It was like they were really pissed off...
    I went to Wally World and bought a $16 wireless mouse, which is keeping the charms at bay.. I actually think it's easier to use than the mouse pad on my laptop anyways. I can use it on the arm of my recliner, on my laptop next to the mouse pad, on a desk top (obviously), but the point being, unless I run the cursor to the very extreme right side of my screen, the charms have remained hidden...
    I have a business website, and while working on it, the charms were constantly popping up as I was trying to add pictures and descriptions. It was seriously driving me out of my mind.. Everything was taking me twice as long to add, time I don't have to waste.. I've been working on it this morning using the wireless mouse and the charms bar has not popped out once..
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    For anyone who came here looking for the same solution, I finally did find one that seems to have worked..
    I got this link from a Microsoft chat line employee. I followed the directions and the charms have not appeared for quite some time now.. Here's the link:
    http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-disable-the-edge-panels-charms-bar-and-switcher-in-windows-8/
    Good luck to everyone trying to get rid of them.. They are one VERY annoying feature of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

  • Windows 8.1 64 bit machine, search charm shows two application shortcut

    We have Windows 8.1 64 bit machine.
    We installed a application and found working it properly.
    If we click on Windows button and search application description
    then, we noticed search charm shows two application short-cuts.
    1. Right click on first short-cut pointing to multiple options like - Pin to start, taskbar, uninstall, file location path, etc and after click on any menu item it works successfully. Even file location shows proper 'program files' folder.
    2. Right click on second short-cut does not give any option. But, after click on this short-cut application launches successfully.
    Also, after uninstall of this application. We found the second short-cut still exist.
    We searched through complete registry and did not found any reference of the same application. Even 'program files' folder got cleaned, too.
    But, click on second icon in the search charm we got an error -
    "Windows cannot find C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Indexed\Settings\en-US\NameSpace_Classic_{940B1CC9-013F-468Ee-BBBF-4A975461F120}.settingcontent-ms"
    Make sure you typed name correctly, and then try again."
    where
    The above file was present when application was installed and after uninstall above file got deleted.
    But, the short-cut still exists.
    Please let me know how we remove this second short-cut while installation. The same application installation does not show this kind of behaviour on other OS's.
    Thanks - Shashi

  • Flashing gray question mark after 10.5.8 update?

    This isn't so much a post to ask for help, as it is just trying to see if anyone got the same result and what you had to do to resolve it.
    Yesterday I updated to 10.5.8 and it did it's install and then restarted the system. Upon restart, it did the initial start-up charm and then loaded up to a gray screen with a flashing folder icon with a question mark on it.
    I called Apple support and we walked through repairing the disk with the disk utility, so on and so forth, and I'm still stuck with the same screen. The support agent says the next step is to fully reinstall the OS X...
    So that's my next step. I'm currently waiting for a friend of mine with a MacBook to come over so I can put my iMac into Target Disk Mode and pull some files before deleting everything.
    Anyone else?

    You may not need to erase your drive. See:
    How to Perform an Archive and Install
    An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
    Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • ChaRM:Logical Components for Projects

    Hi Experts,
    I have done ChaRM config and i am about to create logical components for the project Project.
    I have below two questions please help.
    While creating a logical component when i have multiple clients in DEV, QAS and PRD how to proceed and second question is about RFC Users in satellite systems.
    1) My ECC landscape have DEV ->100, 200, 300, 400, QAS-> 100, 200, 300, PRD-> 100, 200 with multiple clients.
    So while creating logical component do i need mention all clients in the logical component or its enough if i mention DEV->100, QAS->100, PRD->100 ?
    If i mention only one client in logical component how transports will move to other clients in DEV, QAS and PRD. Please help.
    2) Second question is do we need to create READ, TMW, back rfc users in all clients for DEV, QAS and PRD for above ECC landscape ?
    Please help for above question.
    Regards
    Latha

    Hi,
    So while creating logical component do i need mention all clients in the logical component or its enough if i mention DEV->100, QAS->100, PRD->100 ?
    Yes, you can have this TMS track defined and use SCC1  for performing imports within the system (like QAS 100 to QAS 200 ). Or use the Tranport Target Group option so that your TR is visible in import queue of all system. More info Extended Transport Control (SAP Library - BC Change and Transport Organizer)
    2) Second question is do we need to create READ, TMW, back rfc users in all clients for DEV, QAS and PRD for above ECC landscape ?
    Yes, you need RFCs b/w your working client (100 ) and 000 client of domain controller. Not for all clients.

    Vivek

  • Problem in CHaRM Configuration - Solution Manager 4.0 SP16

    Hi All,
    We are in the process of configuring CHaRM in Solution Manager 4.0 with SP16. We have created the project and the activated CHaRM for that project and created the task list as well.
    We are able to create the Change Request transaction and also approve the transaction successfully.
    ISSUE
    The popup of selecting a maintenance cycle while approving the Change Request is not appearing.
    When we go to the document flow and select the next document it says
    No maintenance cycle is open for the current system
    Message no. SOCM_ACTION_LOG011
    Maintenance Cycle is very much active when we check from transaction /tmwflow/cmsconf --> Environment --> Scheduling --> Display maintenance cycles.
    We are not able to see any maintenance cycle from transaction code crm_dno_monitor
    Any help would be highly appreciated.

    I have a question regarding the organization of Solutions in Solution Manager.
    First, I have 3 solution manager boxes
    1 Sandbox
    2 Dev
    3 Prod
    In sandbox, I have a sandbox 'solution' that contains all sandboxes
    In dev, I have no 'solution'
    In production, I have all dev through production boxes lumped into one 'solution'.
    I was thinking that maybe I should break up the solution in Production to have only prod boxes, and then build one in dev that contains dev and qa boxes.
    My question is that when I configure CHARM to manager transports, will that work to separate DEV/QA from Prod OR will I need all the dev, qa, prod boxes in one 'solution' since that is how transports flow??

  • Manage transports (without ChaRM) in Solution Manager?

    Hi,
    How do I manage transports in target systems (ECC, APO, etc.) using Solution Manager. We have the Dev systems (ECC, APO) connected using RFC to Solution Manager. Configuration (SOLAR02) will be done using Solution Manager. So the question is - how do we manage transports (without ChaRM being present) using Solution Manager?
    Any suggestions/recommendations? I would greatly appreciate any feedback.
    Edited by: GiveMeFood on Sep 22, 2011 10:05 PM

    Hi,
    One of the main features available with the Solution Manager is ChaRM. It has been introduced to basically deal with the diverse transports management and related control framework over the SAP lanscape. Having a Solution Manager and not using ChaRM defeats the purpose of installing a Solution Manager in the first place. A better approach would be to incorporate the features provided by the system.
    In my opinion - you should configure ChaRM, else it would not make sense to have the SolMan in the landscape. You would start using one of the features which you already have !
