Charts - translation

Hi!
Is there a way to add translation to a svg chart (ie have attributes like "chart title", "X axis title", "Y axis title" included in the automated translation process)?
It does not seem to work for me and there does not seem to be any documentation on it...
cheers,
Adam

Hello,
I just came across the same problem in Apex 3.2 with Flash Charts. Although this is not a big issue, it would be nice to have it corrected.
Thanks!

  • Flash Chart Translation Issue

    I have a region defined which is basically a pie chart based flash chart. The chart has 1 series for which I have defined a message saying 'You have no open tickets' when there is no data for the query. In english, when in fact there is no data, I see the message above which is correct. However, when I go through translating the app, and then log into french, I still see the english message appearing. I cannot find the message in my translation file at all, which tells me that it is not being picked up for translation. To me this is a bug, because it should be allowing me to translate this so that the above message will be in french for our french users. Anyone have any ideas on this?

    Yes it is a bug I think. At least in 3.0, the version I am currently using. My application was in french and all the "no data found" were in the translation file. I made the correct translation in english. But whether I'm in french or english, the message is always in french, which is the primary language for the application. So i would think that it is a bug in 3.0. Don't know about 3.1 though

  • Translations/xliff editors/anychart translations

    Q1) When you guys send stuff to be translated how do you do it?Do you send the xliff file out externally and expect to receive a translated xliff file.
    If this is the case, how do you prevent people from translating html tags, javascipt etc
    Are there any companies which specialise in this form of translation? Especially one that you can recommend.
    The approach I adopted was to put the translations into an excel sheet and get the translations done externally and then reapply them. This was of course a lot of repetitive work and very easy to make a mistake.
    Q2) If you do your own translations what xliff editors do you use, recommend.
    Q3) The other issue I noticed which is pretty strange is that although I have the chart translated and translated all the appropriate bits in the xml chart the chart still reports the legend name, x-axis title and y-axis-title in english.
    (Apex 3.1)

    Hi Keith,
    I think you're confusing me with the ubiquitous Tony Miller. I'm Jon - no relation!
    There are possibly 1 or 2 things to watch out for with the free app. I found a bug with the #ROWNUM# substitution variable, so worth opening your .xlf file in wordpad and seeing if you have that in any source fields, and then make sure you put it back in the translated version.
    All the best with your translating.
    Jon.

  • AnyGantt APEX chart wrong Time Format

    I'm trying to create an anyGantt chart within APEX but the XML keeps misconverting the time section of date. Thus, where an activity should start on 05-11-2012 15:16:17 (DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI:SS), it actually starts on 05-11-2012 12:11:00. It seems to take the Year as the Hour and the Month as Minutes, but assigns nothing to the minutes. The Year is also random, it's either 0, 1, 12, or 13.
    So say I have this Record:
    ID___________NAME______________DATE_START_____________________DATE_END_____________________________DRIVERID
    2____________Driving_____________21-9-2012 12:04:40_______________22-9-2012 13:05:50______________________228And complete this statement:
    SELECT null link,
    t.driverid resource_id,
    TRIM(r.lastname) || ', ' || r.firstname resource_name,
    NULL parent_id,
    t.date_start actual_start,
    t.date_end actual_end
    FROM "user"."gantt" t, "user"."drivers" r
    WHERE r.driverid = t.driveridThe Gantt chart translates this activity to:
    RESOURCE_NAME______RESOURCE_ID_______________ACTUAL_START______________ACTUAL_END
    Sleeman,_Bob_________228________________________21-9-2012 *01:09:00*___________22-9-2012 *01:09:00*Thus giving me a wrong gantt chart, as these records would overlap, and start at the wrong time.
    The XML settings are as following:

    _</settings>I know the default format for the 24-hour notation in Oracle is "HH24" and the minute notation is "mi" and not "mm", but the notation in AnyGantt says minutes are %mm (lowercase) and months are %MM. The notation in anyGantt is different from the Oracle-notation. Who can explain this problem, and better, solve it?

    Hi Rik,
    Thanks for providing the login credentials to your example. I hope you don't mind but I've created a second Gantt chart on the page, to illustrate how to display the time component for the tasks on the chart.
    In order to represent the time component on your charts, you need to use TIMESTAMP columns in your chart query. If you run your existing query from the chart in SQL Workshop, you'll see that the results only return the date component, and do not include the time. In order to retrieve the time component, you would need to use the TO_CHAR function on your DATE columns, which you have done for your report on the same page. Given that the chart query syntax must either reference DATE or TIMESTAMP columns, you therefore need to use the TO_TIMESTAMP function in this situation to ensure that you're capturing the date and time. I've got an example on my sample application, here: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:83.
    So to get the chart displaying the correct information, I did the following:
    1) Updated the chart series query to use TO_TIMESTAMP on your DATE columns
    2) Updated the Application Timestamp Format via the Edit Application Properties page, changing it from DS to DD-MON-YYYY HH:MIPM, otherwise your timestamp values would still not display the time component.
    Let me know if you've any further questions. I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Hilary

  • Translate Reports & Charts & Forms

    Hello,
    I would like to know what is the best way to translate the data of reports & Charts in a different language (i.e. French). I have created two seperate reports -- one English and one French and add them on as portlets to my page, but how to I make the French appear only when the user clicks on the French language option?
    Is there an easier way to do this?
    Also, how do I go about changing the labels to French within a portal form?
    Thanks,
    Claudia

    Thank you it works, however, the portlet headers still show. Is there a way to programatically set the portlet headers to appear or disappear on a page? I would set hem by default to disappear, but my users need the cusomization and help links within the header of the portlet.
    Thanks
    Claudia

  • Does anyone have a chart that translates the new weather icons for the IOS7 iPhone?

    There are many icons inside the new weather app in iPhone update IOS7 which are difficult to understand. Can you confirm our best guess that the weather for Wednesday and Thursday will be windy? Hope we are right. Does anyone have a chart that deciphers all of those symbols?

    Thank you Templeton. Much apprecaite your answers and how swiftly they arrived. There are other symbols that we find confusing. I can't replicate more of them right now. But if you, or anyone knows of a chart that has interpreted most of them, I would be very grateful. I have beeen looking online for quite some time, and am surprised this hasn't been done...at the very least by Apple or Yahoo.

  • General Ledger - Revaluation/Translation Process Question

    Application Release Version: 11.5.10.2
    MRC: Not turned on for new entities. (See details below)
    My customer has been using oracle from around 2001 and went through a process at the end of 2008 to setup a new chart of accounts and approx 6 different companies with multiple entities for each across different functional currencies. (The initial setup for these entities was done prior to my joining and I have no supporting documentation on what decisions were made and why.)
    Setup info:
    Set of Books - 'Cumulative Translation Adjustment Account' defined as an 'Owners Equity Account'.
    Revaluation - Gains and Loss accounts using the same account number as 'Cumulative Translation Adjustment Account'. Accounts being revalued are accounts that have outstanding Payables and Receivables balances as well
    as our intercompany accounts that have outstanding balances. (Balances that need to be payed or received.)
    Question:
    My question refers to the revaluation and translation process for the new entites that have a different functional currency from the reporting currency. (All under the same chart of accounts structure.)
    For instance entity1 - Functional Currency = 'CAD' and has 'USD' transactions.
    I understand that at the period end we need to revalue the 'USD' transactions to there 'Current' worth in 'CAD' as exchange rates will fluctuate. But shouldn't the 'Difference', revaluation amounts, be pushed to the Unrealised FX Gains/Loss account, not the 'Cumulative Translation Adjustment Account'. (I think this is normally only used when a company is using MRC?)
    This obviously affects whether the period balance appears on the Balance Sheet or Income Statement report for the consolidated monthly report.
    Also should these 'Revaluation' journals ever be reversed or just left to accumulate?
    Then looking at the 'Translation' process, if value is pushed to the 'Cumulative Translation Adjustment Account' then the balance is translated based on the 'Average' period rate as the account is an 'Owners Equity Account', but this seems wrong for the 'Revaluation' balance to be converted at another rate?
    Any help on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

    Firstly, why would there be any difference between the total of customer/vendor sub-ledger balances and the balance on the reconciliation account(s)?  The posting to the reconciliation account is happening automatically right, when you are posting to a customer/vendor (basing on the reconciliation account assigned in the customer/vendor master)?  And system would not allow direct postings to reconciliation accounts, which eliminates the threat of reconciliation GL account going out of balance as compared to the sub-ledger accounts.
    However, you can run FBL3N or FS10N for the reconciliation account(s) and match it with the total balance on all customers/vendors using transaction FBL5N/FBL1N.

  • Charts: how do I determine when the mouse is in the plot area

    I'm trying to implement logic that will do the following:
    Panning plot within plot display area by clicking and dragging mouse
    If the user clicks and drags in the chart plot area (the region where the chart plot actually displays, not including the axes, legends, titles, etc.), I want to be able to provide the effect of panning the plot (e.g. similar to grabbing and dragging a map in Google maps) within the plot display. This makes the most sense, of course, if the user has zoomed in to some level and the entire plot is no longer fully visible within the display.
    Zooming on a plot
    If the user places the mouse somewhere in the chart plot area and uses their mouse wheel, I want to be able to provide the effect of zooming in and out of the plot. The plot area itself must remain at its original size, just the representation of the plot needs to simulate the effect of being zoomed in or out on.
    Thoughts, suggestions, ...
    To make the zoom and pan effect, my thought was to adjust the axes bounds as appropriate to simulate these effects. The trick for some of what I'm planning on doing is finding out where the mouse is in the plot area (not the whole chart) so that I can find the x,y offsets from the plot origin (which appears to be in the upper left - at the chart level anyway). For panning, I don't think I care what the offset is, just that it's within the plot. For zooming, I may need to know where the mouse is in the plot so that the zooming could be centered on that location in the plot. This makes me think that it would also be helpful to find out how to translate the mouse x,y pixel position to a corresponding x,y value in the plot data domain.
    I've been experimenting with attaching event handlers to detect various mouse actions and what information can be gleaned from these events. So far I have not found anything that allows me to determine the bounds of the plot region in the overall chart. I can get the mouse x,y position, but I don't know where it is in relation to the plot area bounds. I don't want to initiate a pan of a plot if the user happens to drag their mouse somewhere outside the plot area (i.e. over an axis, legend, etc.). Also, it would not make sense to start a zoom on the chart unless the mouse is over the plot.
    Please let me know if this seems to be a reasonable approach, and if not, please suggest any ideas for alternatives. Any help, ideas and suggestions regarding how to solve these issues and/or determine this information would be welcome.

    I experimented a bit and it seems the plot-content is the Group containing, well, the content of the plot. So in a line chart it's the smallest rectangle containing all the lines and the graphic at the data point (little circles, by default). What you probably need instead is the chart-plot-background.
    Here's a quick example of a panning chart. There are probably better ways to manage the mouse dragging (it behaves somewhat badly if you drag out of the plot area and then back in, for example) but it gives you the basic idea. My original idea of adding a mouse directly to the plot area failed as the event doesn't get propagated to the plot region if you click on part of the plot content (a line, for example).

  • Apex 3.2 SVG Chart - How to plot Stacked Bar With Negative Values ?

    Currently Apex 3.2 Flash Chart (AnyChart 3.x) does not support Stacked bars with negative values.
    I try with SVG Stacked bars with positive values only, chart ploting works fine. When I add a new series with negative values (i.e -1) and I get a blank Chart region with no error.
    Based on this statement from Apex's documentation:
    *"AxisLine Indicates zero on charts that have negative values."*
    I appreciate your help on how to translate this statement into action ?
    (i.e how to override .Axisline class in CSS section ?)
    Thank you very much for your time.

    User614143,
    try to add the minumm negative value (but positive) to the parameter for the axis.
    e.g. show value+3000 (assuming -3000 is the minimum value)
    If you don't have a limitation for the negative values, it doesn't work. (or try to calculate first the most negative value in a before header process)
    hope this helps.

  • Foreign Currency Translation at Year End - How SAP Works for P&L items?

    Hi All,
    I wanted to know "How SAP works on Foreign Currency Translation at year end" from Local Currency to Group Currency for P&L Items.
    I know how SAP works for Balance sheet items but am really confused with when the translation was done for P&L Items.
    Configuration:
    We are on ECC 6.0 . Local Currency is CAD and we have 2nd Local Currency as "USD - Group Curr".
    We have set up Valuation Method - 4
    We have set up Valuation Area - 40
    For Account Determination for Currency Translation, GL accounts (Loss, Gain and B/S Adj)  were setup for the combination of Chart of Accounts, Val Area and Fin Stmt Ver.
    Sales Account Balance
    CAD (LC)        USD (2nd LC)
    1000                   920
    Using tcode "FAGL_FC_TRANS", we translated our P&L items.
    Local Currency is CAD and Group Currency is USD.
    CAD 1000 and USD 920 are cumulative balances over a period of time.
    Since at the end of year CAD became stronger, exchange rate is 1.11 as an example
    Sales Account Balance
    CAD (LC)        USD (2nd LC)        Translated Value in USD
    1000                   920                        900
    System passed the following entry in USD:
    Debit Balance Sheet Adj A/c 20
    Credit Translation Gain / Loss A/c 20
    Here are the questions:
    1. How does over all translation work? - Should we get any Gain / Loss and have an effect on P&L when all accounts (P&L, B/S) are translated?
    2. How can there be a gain entry when USD value has really fallen from 920 to 900 in the current case.
    Thanks for your time.
    Vijay

    Hi,
    I had this issue too.  The entry was just opposite to what it should be.  I just flipped the accounts in table FAGL_T030TR.
    Example: 410000 is sales account which normally should have a credit balance.  Here are some entries that were posted to sales in 03/2009 and I am running FAGL_FC_TRANS at the end of the month.
    March 1, 2009 Cr. Sales CAD 1000- USD 900-
    March 2, 2009 Cr. Sales CAD  500- USD 480-
    During FC translation transaction, system takes the balance in the account for the period (if you execute it with 'Val. period balance only' checkbox checked) and not the cumulative balance.  SAP recommends translating period balance only (and not cumulative balance) for P&L accounts.  It sees a balance in LC (this again depends on the config. you have in OB22 - whether the indicator is 1 (TC as source currency) or 2 (LC as source currency for translation)) which is 1500, converts that at month end rate.  After conversion, lets say the balance is 1400-.
    In this case, we expect a credit entry on sales account
    March 31, 2009 Cr. Sales CAD 0  USD 20-
    But system was just posting the opposite.  I then flipped the accounts in FC translation configuration.  I know it is misleading.  In that configuration, system says balance sheet adjustment account, but what you should actually give there is your gain/loss account.  Our gain/loss a/c. falls in the same GL account range as the main account.  For example, for 410000, it is 410999 and for 510000, it is 510999.  We report accounts 410000 to 410999 in the same node in the FSV.
    Pl. feel free to ask further questions about this.  Pl. test in your system and correct me if my above reply is wrong.
    Cheers!

  • Is it possible to write a script for Excel Chart Conversion to an ai file?

    I tried to record a script and it didn’t work. I will attempt to explain what I am doing (and why) and maybe you guys can tell me if it can be done or not. We are working with Excel charts and we eventually put them into InDesign for a print magazine. Here are the steps as best as I can translate. We are using Illustrator CS6 Version 16.2.0.
    1. Copy Chart from Excel
    2. Paste into Illustrator
    3. Fit Art Board to Graphic
    4. Select All
    5. Change Kerning to 0
    6. Select the Background
    7. Select Same Fill Color
    8. Change Color to 5% Black
    9. Select the grid lines on the Chart
    10. Change the Stroke to 50% Black
    11. Save as an AI file
    There is also a scenario where there are multiple charts and we would like to make multiple art boards in the same file.
    I do this for a few reasons: Remove Rich Black, Adjust Kerning, Eliminate any Font Issues, Easier to Scale, and it chokes our rip because there is no link when they are copied and pasted directly from Excel to InDesign.
    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    no can do, there's no access to mesh point with scripting, sorry about that.
    have you tried Mesh Tormentor? it is free!!!, but I don't know if it will help with your problem

  • Change color of series in Charts to custom colors - error in macro generated by Excel

    The case:
    Excel 2013, Multiple cheets with multiple charts of different type. Several charts doesn't show well will the defaut color automatically generated by Excel. -> The idea is to modify these graphics only with a specific color combination (modifying the
    color of the series)
    I'm able to modify the color of each series of 1 chart using the UI. but there are many charts so doing them with a simple macro would speed these repeative steps.
    I turned on the macro recording to capture the change of the color of a selected serie in a selected chart.
    The generated code is:
        ActiveChart.Legend.LegendEntries(1).Select
        With Selection.Format.Fill
            .Visible = msoTrue
            .ForeColor.ObjectThemeColor = msoThemeColorAccent3
            .ForeColor.TintAndShade = 0
            .ForeColor.Brightness = -0.25
            .Transparency = 0.3000000119
            .Solid
        End With
    When I execute the macro, Excel trigger an error:
    Execution error -2147467259 (80004005)
    method "Fill" of object "ChartFormat" has failed   (this is a translated error message, as I run a french version)
    Any idea why Excel cannot run its own generated code ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Very surprisingly the following code (also generated by the macro recording) works ok.
    (I selected the serie inside the chart instead of selecting the serie in the legend)
        ActiveChart.FullSeriesCollection(1).Select
        With Selection.Format.Fill
            .Visible = msoTrue
            .ForeColor.ObjectThemeColor = msoThemeColorAccent3
            .ForeColor.TintAndShade = 0
            .ForeColor.Brightness = -0.25
            .Transparency = 0.3000000119
            .Solid
        End With
    If an MVP or Microsoft official come accross this, I suggest further testing as it is very likely a bug (with the first set of code generated by Excel)
