Check box on numbers on iPad 2
I was trying to used checkbox. What I want to do, if the checkbox is checked the the value in next cell will be 0 (zero).

A cell can be used for either a formula or for data entry, not for both. This is true for all spreadsheet apps that I am aware of, it is not a peculiarity of Numbers. You can enter numbers in a different column, like column C, and use the formula
=IF(A,0,C)
You could use a different table for the data entry rather than a column in the same table.

Checked checkboxes in Numbers for iPad
Hi,
Before submitting feedback to Apple about the following glitch, I’m posting it here to find out whether any Numbers for iOS jockeys have experienced the glitch also.
In Numbers 09 (2.0.3) under Snow Leopard.8, I imported a spreadsheet created in Excel for Windows (not sure which version), then added a column to one of the worksheets/tabs, and in every row within this column I inserted a checkable checkbox, then saved the file in Numbers 09 format.
After importing the file into Numbers 1.4 for iOS (on a 1G iPad) via iTunes 10.3.1, I checked the checkbox in some rows. I did this by displaying the virtual keyboard and switching to the one that contains the checkbox, then tapping on the checkbox. This method worked; i.e., a check displayed in each checkbox where I performed these steps.
After quitting Numbers for iOS, I connected the iPad to my Mac, imported the spreadsheet file to the Mac via iTunes, and opened the spreadsheet file in Numbers 09.
All checkboxes were unchecked.

How do I link a checkbox to duplicate a cell value?
For instance, I want to survey a room which may have 4 doors in it or it may have 1. The door height and width is constant so by filling in that data in height and width columns it can be duplicated simply by checking a box next to the relavant door number

Example formula:
D2 contains the standard door height, E2 contains the standard width.
B6 is the checkbox. C6 the receiving cell for the height, D6 the receiving cell for the width.

D6: =IF(B6,$E$2,"")

Numbers for iPad totalling check boxes
I am very new to Numbers on iPad. I have been searching for how to total check boxes and gather that you use the function "countif" Am I missing something? I look in functions and can only see count or if, but not a countif option. How do you select this function?
John, Is that for the desktop version of numbers? Sounds like it with the reference to the Insert menu.
on Numbers for IPad, you
double tap a cell
tap the equal button above the keyboard that shows up
tap "functions" to the right
Tap "Categories" on the top of the floating window
then Statistical.
Browse for Countif
Tap countif to add it to your formula.
The first argument is highlighted, so tap the reference range to be tested
Tap the second argument bubble for condition.
Tap the True/False button twice to cycle through to True
Tap the GReen check mark to finish

How to automate the adding of check-box along with each numbered item in Framemaker file ?
I tried using the wingdings font as check-box. But I don't want to use it manually every time. I want to have it as a style part of my procedure style (numbering style). I need the check-box along with each numbered item. Whenever I apply my numbering style in FM, I should get something like:

This assumes that you are on FM8 or later, and your Unicode font has that glyph code point populated (Arial Unicode MS does if your font doesn't).
Don't use WingDings (or Zaph Dingbats) anymore. Using codepage overlays has any number of issues, and these two sets of legacy codepage dingbats don't even match each other. -

Numbers: Check Boxes returning 0 (zero) value
In Numbers I would like to add a check box column next to a column of numbers. If the box is checked I would like it to convert the specifc number in the agacent column to a value of 0 (zero). If the box is left unchecked the value will stay as written. Is there a function that can be written to accomodate this?

Wayne's demonstration has a feature that my demonstration lacks. Wayne has correctly avoided Column A, because in some Templates Column A is a Header Column. Header Columns are best used as identifiers (for example, Name or Customer Number).
If your Table has Column A as a Header Column (often a coloured fill), the solution would look somethig like this:
Formula in Cell D2 is
=IF(C,0,B2)

Check Boxes are great in the numbers spreadsheet. However I cannot find anything in HELP that educates on how to add them to any sheet. Or is this capability, and others, using some arcane terminology that does not accommodate the majority of users who are not software professionals even though they are familiar with several different softwares of identical usages?
Will this capability, along with numerous other new enhancements, ever be included in the offline help capability? i.e. I am often in a position where I am unable to connect to the internet to access the online help.

Does anyone know how to check boxes without double tapping
I am trying to create a touch screen form, which needs to be quick to use. I have designed one on numbers but have to double tap to check the box.
if its being done in excel it being done through a macro in the background that checks the "SelectionChange" event. It looks at the current selection and if it is 1x1 (single cell) and in the proper column, then it adds the number.
Sorry to say that *macros are not supported in numbers for ipad* and your current excel file will most likely not work. Although you can open it in numbers and try. I would love to see how it was done if it works.

One is you have Po created, vendor send the item in that few items have rejected so you need to return the item to vendor......
here in MIGo chose returrn to vendor selce the PO numbere.... system automaticaly take the movent type 122....
sencond type is Retun PO..... In Po while creting the PO tick the return indication..
If you do the GR system will pick 161mopvent type.. ( GR returns)...

How to create a group/list of check box variables for display in text field, in appended format
I need to identify a series of single-response checkbox variables and display the ones selected (as a group) in a text field in an appended (comma, space) format. This time I need to know how to formally identify the checkbox variables and, I presume, use a similar script to display the results in a comma, space format.

Is there a way to automatically add a page to my current form when the user marks the check box?
I have an existing expense report form that I created using Adobe Pro's Form Tools. The user enters all the appropriate information (ie, vendor, amount, business justification, etc.) and then it calculates all the expenses at the bottom.
I have added a box next to each line item to be checked by the user in the case that they have an expense with a missing receipt.
Is there a way to have a pre-existing missing receipt form, be added at the end of the expense report, each time the user marks one of these missing receipt check boxes?
If so, is there a way to have all the expense line item data automatically fill in the information on the added missing receipt form?
I am using Adobe Pro's Form tool rather than Livecycle because it is compatible with my IPAD.

Using Javascript to disable a check box
Friends,
I am stuck on what should be a simple requirement and I am hoping you can help.
I need to disable a form region checkbox if a field on the same form region has anything entered.
What I have done so far is:
1) On the item that determines whether the check box should be disabled I have added a call to my Javascript function "onChange="disableDefaultDisplay();" in the "HTML Form Element Attributes"
2) My javascript funcion is: (this is the basic version, all I am trying to do is disable the check box at this point)

Using a combination of firebug and the alert messages I can see that function is called at the correct time (i.e. when the user changes and then leaves the field) and that the values of the variable, defaultDate are set but my attempts to disable the checkbox have yet to work!
When I look at the type of the checkbox (through the source of the page or firebug) I see the checkbox has the following "fieldset#P13_DEFAULT_DISPLAY.checkbox_group" Do I need to do anything different to disable this type of object?

In a nutshell, the solution I used was a loop through the field set(of which there is only one item in it) and disabling it.
