Check-in: Communication Error

Hi, the attached error message below happened when I checked in the activity in NWDI.
"Activation failed: CBS Server Error: CBS failed to communicate with some other server( internal code: COMMUNICATION_ERROR)"
Could anyone let me know the possible root cause for this error? Any suggestion to fix this error.
Thanks:-)

Hi Wing,
Please check whether the DTR is working in your landscape. This problem may be because of that. To check whether the DTR is working or not, just logoff from DTR and try to reconnect. Also check whether the "Landscape Directory" is configured properly. There is rare chance that you have not maintained the "Landscape Directory" as in that case you would not have been able to connect to DTR.
If the DTR is connected successfully then it might be the case that CBS is not working. Contact to your landscape team for the running state of DTR and CBS server. To check the running state of the CBS server you can do this:
1) Right click on the logged on track from the DTR perspective.
2) Click on Show in --> Component Properties.
3) Here you will find the link of the CBS server.
4) Click on http link and you will get the logon page in NWDS itself. Use the user name and password of DTR to connect and if successful then your CBS server is also working.
If all the above cases are working fine then just try to close and restart your IDE. And then reconnect to the tracks and landscape directory.
I hope this gives you some pointer to your probelm and it solves your problem. Please revert back in case you need any further help on this.
Thanks and Regards,
Pravesh

Just check the full hostname of your DTR server, should be like
    hostname.company.com
    and check if somewhere only
    hostname
is being used.and both are getting successfully pinged. DO not try the NWDS ping. Use command prompt and
    ping hostname
    and
    ping hostname.company.com
Also this happens due to some clash with some other developer. Please check after some time, may be after a desktop restart. things should start working.

  • Document Check In Fails  Communication Error.

While locally editing a document, I save it locally and the hit the check in button.  It looks like the file is uploading but, then the directory screen comes back with a red exclamation point stating "a communications error has occurred, document could not be uploaded."
If I go into the context menu of the file > details, then on the top menu to actions > upload and upload the file manually, it works.
Any one else come across this?

    Hi Lennart,
I just got back home from vacation.  After doing a marithon, 72 hours, building a new portal I needed a week off.
Do you get the same error message as I do when attempting to check a document back in?
Is the location of the place where you are checking in the file on the portal server or is it mapped to another server via a file repository that is linked to a mounted drive on the portal?
I will not be working on this problem until next week again but, I am thinking it has to do with a permission setting or a protocol mis match. (http vs https)
If I find anything new I will post it.  Please do the same, I am sure that we are not the only ones having this problem.

  • I have an Epson NX420 printer/scanner, and I keep getting a message on the scanner, saying that there is a communication error, check the connection.  I am not having any luck scanning my pictures into the computer.

I have an Epson Nx 420/printer/scanner, and I keep getting a message that says there is a communication error.  Check the connection [W-61}.  I have the snow leopard operating system Mac OS X 10.6.8  I want to scan my pictures into iphoto.  Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thankyou.

Make sure you have updated all of your scanner drivers.  Check Software update and check with Epson tech support.
Not sure if the Gutenprint and Gimp-Print for Mac OS X (10.2 and later) drivers deal with scanners.  Read the info on their website.
Check Apple's Knowledge Base for Snow Leopard & Lion Printer solutions and suggestions for scanner troubleshooting.  Especially if you have an all in one.

  • Printer communication error and cannot add a new printer

I was happily using my Epson Artisan 810 printer this morning, connected wirelessly to my iMac.  All of a sudden I cannot print, get "Communication Error".  Checked Epson's website, no luck there.  Re-checked my wireless settings on the printer itself and re-confirmed them, it will print test pages from the printer, but still not communicating with the iMac.  I thought that removing the printer and then adding it back in might help, but now I cannot add any printer at all.
I resorted to my MacBook Pro, and now have the same problem with this as well.
Any ideas please?  What else can I check.  My internet and so on are fine.  The printer itself shows the wireless icon and says the reception is excellent on the printout it produced.
    Thanks so much!
    L.

It would be unusual for only Bonjour to stop working in the printer. The more likely is that the printer is set to a different network subnet to that for your Mac or, as you mentioned, something like a firewall is blocking it.
The IP addressing is the most common cause. If there is a process to view or print the network settings for the Epson, then this will show what IP address range it has, which should be the same as your Mac. With the IP address, there will be four sets of numbers. For a typical home network, the first three sets are known as the IP subnet, while the last set is the network address. For example, a device with an IP address of 10.0.1.5, has an IP subnet of 10.0.1 and a network address of 5. For your Mac to 'see' the printer, both devices would need the same IP subnet, while having a different network address. So if you can check what IP address the Epson has, you may find it is using a different IP subnet to your Mac.

I can get the error to re-occur consistently by installing
IBM Director Client version 5.20 or 5.23, taking remote control and then within
the remote session I initiate a PC restart. This re-produces these errors
    without fail.
I've also received this same error without Director but am
unable to cause this to re-occur consistently.
    My Findings:
Changing the BIOS Settings from the default settings of :
    BIOS Config > Display
    Default Primary Video Device:[Internal]
    Boot Display Device:[ThinPad LCD]
    Graphics Device:[Discrete Graphics]
    OS Detection for Switchable Graphics:[Enabled]
To the following settings resolves the issue though this
causes the installed and previously working ATI driver not to detect the video
    device.
    BIOS Config > Display
    Default Primary Video Device:[Internal]
    Boot Display Device:[ThinPad LCD]
    Graphics Device:[Integrated Graphics]
    OS Detection for Switchable Graphics:[Disabled]
    What I have tried:
o Updated the BIOS and Drivers to Latest available
o Re-Installed the Display Driver, Downgraded the
    Display Driver
o Removed the Display Driver and left BIOS
    settings enabled (NMI errors re-occur)
To get to the above findings I tried removing /
re-installing pretty much every driver and disabling every option within the
BIOS. I am only listing what I believe is now relevant to the identified
problem. I can provide further information upon request.
     Anyone able to help ?

    Hello,
the switchable gfx doesn´t work in XP. In XP you have to choose gfx options in bios before booting os.
    Please try:
    Default Primary Video Device:[Internal]
    Boot Display Device:[ThinPad LCD]
    Graphics Device:[discrete Graphics]
    OS Detection for Switchable Graphics:[Disabled]

    Hi mhkhandaker,
    Welcome to Nokia discussions board!
In order to fix this issue, I advise you to perform a soft reset on your phone: type *#7780#. Default lock code is 12345. If the issue persists, perform a hard reset. First of all, back up your data using Nokia Suite (Tools > Back up). Once your data is fully backed up,  type *#7370# on the keypad.
Alternatively, you may also check for updates on Nokia Suite (by going to Tools > Updates).
Then open the e-mail app again.
Let us know how you get on and feel free to post any other questions you may have.

  • How to fix Communications error with Itunes in FronRow

I've had the " An error was encountered while communicating with itunes" message whilst trying to play music in Fron Row.
I ran Apple support and they advised me to check on the settings for where the itunes library was located. I did this and stiil the error persisted.
After much searching I found the solution... Completely remove iTunes then reinstall it.
    Heres how...
Drag the application's icon to the Trash. Open the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder and look for one or more preference files named "com.apple.iTunes....plist" and drag them to the Trash. Look in /Library/ folder for an iTunes folder and if you find one drag it to the Trash. Look in /Home/Library/ folder for an iTunes folder and drag it to the Trash. Last, in /Home/Library/Preferences/ByHost/ folder look for two files with names com.apple.nnnnnnn.plist and drag them to the Trash.
Open Activity Monitor (Utilities folder) and in the process list look for iTunesHelper. Select it, then click on Quit Process icon. Quit or Force Quit the process. Now open the Accounts preference pane, click on Login Items tab, look for the iTunesHelper entry and select it, then click the "-" button and remove it from the list.
Empty the Trash. This should fully remove iTunes and its associated files/folders.
It works like a dream, the communication error has gone and I can play music once again. Hope someone might find this helpfull

I'm glad you found a solution that worked for you and appreciate your clear description.
It does seem a bit drastic, however. For others I would suggest at first trying one or both of these Apple support suggestions:

  • While creating customer master  i am getting the Communication error

    Hi experts,
while creating customer master  i am getting the  Communication error with the external tax system (VERTEX_MS0018)    please tellme how to solve this issue

Edited by: prasadanil on Sep 16, 2011 12:52 PM

    hI Prasad,
It seems you are maintaining the address data for a country with jurisdiction code. Different external control systems can behave in different ways.
    1. You entered a jurisdiction code that matches the postal code but not the city (possibly due to a typo).
    a) Behavior when you use Taxware: There is no message and data can be saved.
    b) Behavior when you use Vertex: Due to the incorrect city, no comparison jurisdiction code can be determined and message TAX_TXJCD861 is issued with a text from the vertex system that may be unintelligible.
    2. You do not enter a jurisdiction code, but you do enter a postal code and a city that does not match the code (possibly due to a typo).
    a) For Taxware: If the jurisdiction code could not be explicitly determined, a selection dialog box containing the relevant tax jurisdiction codes for the postal code appears. You select one. This and the corresponding city are transferred.
    b) For Vertex: The TAX_TXJCD861 message is issued (behavior as in 1b). Other terms TAX_TXJCD861, TAX_TXJCD101, TAX_TXJCD107.
For resolving this issue, you can check SAP Note 677850 - Address data: Check/new determination jurisdiction code.
Hope you will resolve the above issue with these inputs.
Let me know if you need any further details.
    Ravi.

from command prompt run the following command
    telnet < dev server ip >  32<NN>
    check the ouput
    How to check the ouput
1   after giving the above command, if you get blank screen it mean ports are open
2  after giving the above command, if you get ouput on screen like " conneting to server < dev server ip > it mean ports are not open

  • "Communication Error" only with certain friends with VideoChat

My video chat works with most of my buddies on iChat but with certain people it always fails. we both receive a "communication error" whenever we try to connect with each other. help please!

    Hi All,
On my MacBook Pro which runs 10.6.4 I have iChat > Preferences > Video Section > Bandwidth Limit set to 500kbps
This is because iChat 5 "Sees" and uses the Internet connection differently from earlier versions.
On Leopard and earlier go to System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming and set the drop down to 1.5Mbps (T1/Intranet/LAN)
iChat will need to be restarted to "see" the new speed.
This will make sure iChat sees and uses as much of your Internet Connection as is possible.
The Automatic setting Limits iChat to only 384kbps in Leopard and is read as 0 in earlier versions. The Intranet /LAN setting is also suspect in iChat 3 (Tiger)
iChat 5 and Snow Leopard does not have this setting.
iChat then sees and tries to use the full speed of your Internet Connection.
The Upload speed is then the limiting factor.
This speed may then be several times faster than a Leopard Buddy even if they have set 1.5mbps in Quicktime.
Connection-wise iChat 5 has stepped up to modern connection speeds.
At the iChat 5 end the only Limit you can place on it now is the aforementioned Bandwidth Limit.
Start with all Buddies on 500kbps (having done the Quicktime thing on the Leopard Buddies).
Even if some buddies do not have 500kbps as an upload it will bring everybody into a smaller window connection speed-wise and iChat is more likely to be successful.
Also check the Snow Leopard Firewall Settings
System Preferences > Security > Firewall
If On then check the Advanced Button is allowing Signed apps and that iChat is in the List.

  • IPhoto album "not found" / Communication error...

Having a really weird problem with Front Row... it likes everything but iPhoto! It pulls my iTunes across my network with no problem, it plays movies, trailer and video clips locally and across the network with no problems, but when it comes to iPhoto, it throws a snit.
Seriously, when I select the "Photos" section, it sees the shared iPhoto library across my network, so it tries to go load it. About three seconds after it starts trying to pull the shared library across, it throws up an error: "The album you selected could not be found," then it suggests that there was either a communications error or that the server went offline, although neither is true. Note that it never gets to the point where I can choose an album - it doesn't show any albums, only the error message.
    Has anyone else seen this?
First, it should be noted that the Front Row computer is attached to a projector that can only display up to 800x600. iPhoto on this computer launches, but first throws up an error that the display is not optimal for that application. The machine is otherwise quite strong: Mini dual-core, 1GB RAM, 45+GB free HD.
Here's what I've done in the meantime...
    1) Reinstalled iPhoto 6 from the beginning. Tested - no dice. Applied 6.0.1 and 6.0.2. No dice.
    2) Repaired perms on the server. No dice.
    3) Checked iPhoto on the Front Row machine - it does see the shared library and has no problem bringing the library across.
    4) Changed libraries - I use three different libraries regularly - no dice. #3, above, recognized each library just fine, incidentally.
    5) Created a generic user account on the iPhoto "server," ran iPhoto (which creates a new, blank library), put four pictures in it. iPhoto on the Front Row mac saw the new library with no problem. Front Row, however, gaves the same error.
    6) Rebooted everything (of course). No luck.
    7) I've "googled" the error messages, with no applicable results.
    8) I've put aliases to the libraries in the Front Row machine's user account's "Pictures" folder. The Front Row machine's iPhoto didn't like it, nor did Front Row. Oh well... besides, this would be a workaround - not what I want.
    9) The iPhoto "server" has a pretty straightforward name with no spaces or odd characters. The "share name" assigned in iPhoto has no odd characters or spaces. The Front Row machine, too, has a straightforward, short alphanumeric name.
    10) Networking between the two is a reliable gigabit connection through a five-port gigabit switch. Communication is steady and very fast - as evidenced by iTunes working, video streaming, iPhoto recognizing libraries, etc.
    11) Name resolution between the machines works just fine. There are no odd routing tables or other infrastructure hiccups that might bog it down.
    12) I've pared down the share from "full library" to sharing only a single, tiny album. The album has a straightforward name with no spaces or odd characters and only a handful of pictures. No dice.

iPhoto on the Front Row computer does launch and, after I "OK" the warning about a suboptimal display resolution (an error I'd really like to eradicate), I do see the local iPhoto library.
I've tried several combinations to see what happens - I'll call the main "serving" computer "server," even 'tho it's not a "server," technically speaking - it's running regular ol' Tiger, same version as the Front Row machine ("FR").
    1. Neither machine running iPhoto: Front Row doesn't see the server's collection, nor does it offer the local library, either.
    2. Server running iPhoto, FR not: Front Row gives the error described above. When I quit Front Row, the iPhoto icon is bouncing, alerting me (again) to the fact that the display is suboptimal, so apparently Front Row is launching iPhoto in the background in order to connect (presumably) to the server's iPhoto library.
    3. Server running iPhoto, FR running iPhoto: If I "OK" the suboptimal display error on the FR machine so that both FR and server are running iPhoto, I get the error described above when attempting to view the server's iPhoto collection. iPhoto on the FR machine, however, does see the server's iPhoto collection - I can browse it, view it, etc. just fine.
    4. Server not running iPhoto, FR running iPhoto (again, clicking "OK" to get through that suboptimal display warning): FR iPhoto only displays local library; FR doesn't see server libraries and gives appropriate error.
Through all of this, I just noticed an oddity: at no point does Front Row attempt to let me browse the local iPhoto library... it only gives me the "shared albums" option. I need to check something but this could be an oddity: I don't believe there are any actual pictures or albums in the local library, only the server's library. Again, iPhoto does launch properly and will let me browse shared albums - I'm just not certain I populated the local library with anything. I'll check that tonight to see if it makes a whit of difference.
