Chinese Char support in JNLP file

Hi All,
We have to support the chinese char in jnlp file as jar file name.
Can we support this .
Kindly provide this information we anybody new about this ...
Thanks in advance for your support.

Thats setting the system properties right? >Not so much (AFAIR you can 'set' java.home, but it has no effect). It is simply properties that are accessible to the app. at run-time.

I wanted to send command line argument, wher in main(String[] arg) method I wanted to access from the arg[] arrays,
Is there any way to do that? Then what is the purpose of <argument> tag?>That is doable as well. I have seen two common forms of handing arguments with names..
java theapp.jar -foo fooValue -bar barValue
java theapp.jar foo=fooValue bar=barValueThe first presumes all names and values occur in order (1 name, 1 value, 1 name, 1 value..) and arrive at main(String[]) in that order. The second has the '=' sign as delimiter between name and value.
The way they would be specified as arguments is something like..
<application-desc ..>
  <argument>-foo</argument>
  <argument>fooValue</argument>
  <argument>-bar</argument>
  <argument>barValue</argument>
</application-desc>&
<application-desc ..>
  <argument>foo=fooValue</argument>
  <argument>bar=barValue</argument>
</application-desc>

  • Zip.ZipInputStream cannot extract files with Chinese chars in name

    Dear friends,
    Peace b upon u!
    I am trying to read a zip file (~3000 files)containing one
    or more files with Chinese, Japanese or Korean names, the
    getNextEntry method throws an IllegalArgumentException as below after extracting just ~300 files as below:-
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException
            at java.util.zip.ZipInputStream.getUTF8String(Unknown Source)
            at java.util.zip.ZipInputStream.readLOC(Unknown Source)
            at java.util.zip.ZipInputStream.getNextEntry(Unknown Source)
            at testZipFiles.getZipFiles(testZipFiles.java:65)
            at testZipFiles.main(testZipFiles.java:18) issue:java.util.zip.ZipInputStream cannot extract files with Chinese chars in name
    Category java:classes_util_jarzip
    Plz let me know 1 of the ways which I can solve this issue.
    1)if someone has JAVA DCOMPILER plz send the SOURCE Code
    for the ZipInputStream.class to me..I need to edit it using 1 of the solutions as provided below which I googled.
    2)If there is an alternate or upgraded java.util.zip.ZipInputStream or any org.apache.tools.zip.* package which can read such files..If yes where I can download the same on net.
    3)Any other easier solution, which can let me extract all files (by excluding Chinese files thru CATCH) without the extractor process to fail altogether.
    On net I found that the only solution with this is:-
    - edit the new ZipEntry, remove the static initializer that calls
    the native methods initIDs().
    this step seems a bit scary, but it's according to the
    workaround
    to bug #4244499 (the workaround of Olive64, THU JUN 05
    01:55 P.M. 2003),
    that handles a similar bug at the ZipOutputStream.
    Now you have a ZipInputStream that supports multi-bytes
    entry names.
    to extract the zip file, using the fixed code that is offered
    above,
    create a function that gets an "encoding" string, a "destPath"
    string
    and a "sourceFile" (zipped) and does :
    ZipInputStream zipinputstream = null;
    ZipEntry zipentry;
    zipinputstream = new ZipInputStream(new FileInputStream
    (sourceFile),encoding);
    zipentry = zipinputstream.getNextEntry();
    while (zipentry != null) { //for each entry to be extracted
        String entryName = zipentry.getName();
        int n;
        FileOutputStream fileoutputstream = new FileOutputStream
    ( destPath + entryName );
        while ((n = zipinputstream.read(buf, 0, 1024)) > -1)
            fileoutputstream.write(buf, 0, n);
        fileoutputstream.close();
        zipinputstream.closeEntry();
        zipentry = zipinputstream.getNextEntry();
    }//while
    zipinputstream.close();

    Hi friend,
    We'd better to ask one question in each thread. If you have another issue, you can consider to open up a new thread in this forum.
    Now for the first question, do you mean this picture? It throws access exception in archive2.
    If so , because your extractPath is a path, not a directory.You should add +"xxx.zip". For more information, please refer to
    ZipFile.Open
    Method (String, ZipArchiveMode).
    For the second question, you can use the following code to skip the error message.
    while (true)
    try
    //do something;
    catch (Exception ex)
    { continue; }
    Good day!

  • Web.show_document cannot display file with Chinese char in IIS 6

    Dear all,
    There is a problem that web.show_document cannot display file with Chinese char in IIS 6, but works fine in IIS 5.
    Is it a server problem or is there any setting in server? Do you know how to solve it?
    Big Thanks
    JY

    Hi,
    As Francois mentioned, this issue has nothing to do with forms / web.show_document. web.show_document, just opens the URL specified as parameter. So, if you run the URL (that you've passed as argument for web.show_document), directly in the browser, you would be getting the same issue.
    So, as you said, if it works fine in IIS 5 and does not in IIS 6, it would be an issue with the IIS and not forms. You might want to check out the IIS 6 release notes / documentation for any known issues / raise an issue in that.

  • Problem with zipping file with chinese chars

    I need to zip a html page which contains some chinese characters, I am able to zip it and create a zip file
    but the problem is when i open the zip file and view the html file it displays junk characters instead
    of chinese characters
    Here is what i am doing
      ByteArrayOutputStream bStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
       ZipOutputStream zStream = new ZipOutputStream(bStream);
        ZipEntry zipEntry = new ZipEntry(htmlFilename);
        zStream.putNextEntry(zipEntry);
        ByteArrayOutputStream dataStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
        PrintWriter writer = new PrintWriter(
                               new OutputStreamWriter(dataStream,"UTF-8"));
    writer.write(htmlString); //htmlString is the string which contents the html contents which has chinese char
        writer.close();
    zStream.write(dataStream..toByteArray());

    And when you view the unzipped file, are you using something that realizes that you encoded your data using UTF-8? My guess is that you are not.

  • Problem in showing chinese char from a Unicode based text file [*.txt]

    Hi All!
    There are some chinese characters stored in a text file [*.txt]. I'm using "Arial Unicode MS" font to show chinese in text file. The text file is showing chinese charatcres. But when I read this file and want to show each line of chinese characters. My program is showing some garbage. Here is my sample code:
    //arg[0] is a unicode text file name
    UIManager.put("OptionPane.messageFont", new Font("Arial Unicode MS", Font.PLAIN, 11));
    String chinesesample = "\u4eac \u5582";
    //this message box is showing chinese
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Chinese Text..: " + chinesesample);
    BufferedReader obj_line = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(args[0]),16);
        String data = null;
        while (obj_line.ready()) {
          data = new String(obj_line.readLine().getBytes("Unicode"));
          obj_line.readLine();
          JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, data);
        }But this code is not showing the exact chinese characters stored in text file.

    FileReader does not support setting a charset:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/io/FileReader.html
    Convenience class for reading character files. The constructors of this
    class assume that the default character encoding and the default byte-
    buffer size are appropriate. To specify these values yourself, construct
    an InputStreamReader on a FileInputStream.
    So our BufferedReader should be constructed from InputStreamReader on a FileInputStream.
                   BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(
                          new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream("out.txt"), "UTF8"));Here is an example:
    import java.io.BufferedReader;
    import java.io.File;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    import java.io.FileOutputStream;
    // import java.io.FileReader; // no need for this
    import java.io.InputStreamReader;
    import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
    public class DocumentRenderer{
         public static void main(String[] args){
              try{
                   String chinesesample = "\u4eac \u5582\n";
                   System.out.print(chinesesample);
                   FileOutputStream fo = new FileOutputStream(new File("out.txt"));
                   fo.write(chinesesample.getBytes("UTF8"));
                   fo.close();
                   BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(
                          new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream("out.txt"), "UTF8"));
                   JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Chinese Text..: " + chinesesample);
                   chinesesample = br.readLine();
                   JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Chinese Text..: " + chinesesample);
                   fo = new FileOutputStream(new File("out.txt"));
                   fo.write(chinesesample.getBytes("UTF8"));
                   fo.close();
              }catch(Exception e){

    Hi Howard,
    if i use Font.createFont() to general font object that
    can solve chinese display problem in RH 7.3. but i
    thought, it's no reasonable way to use font object.
    that is really bad for cross-platform benefit or you
    need to carry font file with your application.
    have a way to set default font use createFont()
    object?In the past, I've carried the font file around with me. Given the number of graphics files, properties files and
    other assorted garbage that apps are already carrying around, it's not too unreasonable to have to add a
    TrueType font to the list of hangers-on (unless it's the size of Arial Unicode MS - 23Mb is a big ask sometimes)!
    Given that TrueType fonts themselves are essentially platform-independent, I don't see it as too much of an issue. But that's just me and my experiences! ;-)
    To set the font as default...
    try {
        FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream("myFont.ttf");
        Font defaultFont = Font.createFont(Font.TRUETYPE_FONT, fis);
        setFont(defaultFont);
    } catch (FontFormatException ffe) {
        System.err.println("My TrueType font is corrupted.");
    } catch (IOException ioe) {
        System.err.println("My I/O stuffed up.");
    }There are various ways to set the font in even better ways, particularly if you're in a standalone app, but the above is at least a good basic one.
    Hope that helps,

  • JNLP file not opening in Windows 8 and IE 10

  • How to specify a JRE range in jnlp file?

    We have a java app which uses Java Web Start. The jnlp file is configured with [j2se version="1.5+"]. So if JRE 1.5 and 1.6 are installed, the app is run on 1.6.
    Now, we have requirement where the app should be restricted to run only within the range - JRE 1.5.0_07 through JRE 1.5.0_17
    [j2se version="1.5*"] will not work - it will always launch the app with the latest jre from 1.5 family.
    I can request an exact product version by including the href attribute. [j2se version="1.5.0_14" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se"/]
    But how do I specify a specific range of JREs in the jnlp file so that JWS picks up a JRE from that range only? So if 1.5.0_07, 1.5.0_17 and JRE 6 are installed, it should run the app on 1.5.0_17.
    Can JNLP really allow you to select specific range of JREs? Is there a good way to accomplish this? Please help.

    sunjavaboy wrote:

    *4.6 Java Runtime Environment*
    Several JREs can be specified, which indicates a prioritized list of the supported JREs, with the most preferred version first. For example,
        <java version="1.3" initial-heap-size="64m"/>
        <java version="1.2">
          <resources> ... </resources>
        </java>So your app. would need more along the lines of..
        <java version="1.5.0_07 1.5.0_08 1.5.0_09 1.5.0_10 1.5.0_11 1.5.0_12 1.5.0_07 1.5.0_13 1.5.0_14 1.5.0_15 1.5.0_16 1.5.0_17 " />
        <java version="1.6+" />Actually you'd need the list of 1.5 versions reversed. Well, you get the idea hopefully. For more on versioning, see my [JWS versioning page|http://pscode.org/jws/version.html].

  • Deploying a JNLP file to corporate users?

    When it comes to Java, I'm pretty clueless. I was a VB programmer years ago, and now I deal mostly with Python apps.
    I have a corporate client with ~80 workstations. One of their primary business applications is deployed by a jnlp file. Their tech support said to go to http://theirapplication.com/app.jnlp and the program will install.
    I have tried a few test methods of getting this pushed out to every user.
    The first was to deploy a shortcut to their desktop called "TheirApp" which pointed to that jnlp file.
    In practice, that launches IE, downloads the JNLP file, checks if the app is installed, installs it if it isn't, and then runs the app. Plus, the app drops a new shortcut onto the desktop for directly launching the program. The shortcut points to javaws and then a long path to some per-user cache folder. So now users are confused by two shortcuts.
    When the app initially starts, it asks for a bunch of settings--like really long account numbers. All this info appears to be per-user. So when users sit down at a different workstation (which happens frequently in their environment), clueless users are asked to install the app and put in all those initial settings.
    The second method was a failure--I tried deploying a shortcut to start javaws pointing to that cache folder. I didn't really expect it to work. On new machines it failed because that app hadn't been installed into that cache folder yet. On existing installs, it would work for users that had previously installed it, but new users wouldn't work because the cache folder is stored under a different users settings folder.
    So I guess my questions for the Java community would be these:
    Is there a way to deploy a java webstart app per-machine?
    Is there a way to share the same cache folder between all the users on the network so they see all the same settings?
    Does anyone have similar experiences and suggestions on how to better deploy jnlp applications?
    Thanks for reading.
    -Aaron

    To pre-install you can use the -import option.
    Something like
    javaws -import -silent http://whateverTheServer.ext/whateverTheJnlp.jnlpYou could even copy all files to a local server and override codebase with -codebase option.
    You could try (but I've heard people complain about it) to use the -system option so that all machine users run same instance (app is installed once per machine, not once per user and machine).
    About properties, the most common way to store data is to put them in the user.home dir, have a look there, maybe you can spot out a file (or a directory) and just tell user to copy their setting on a USB drive and paste them (into user.home) on any other machine they're gonna use.
    Bye.

  • Get Directory name in Chinese and Chinese chars to Excel

    Hi,
    <b>Question:1</b>
    I use "cl_gui_frontend_services=>directory_browse"
    to get the Directory name from the presentation server.
    It works good for the directory names in English.
    However I need to perform a similar operation when the
    user has logged in "<b>Chinese</b>" at OS level,
    say Chinese Version of Windows. In this case this FM
    doesn't get properly the directory names in chinese.
    This might be  because the directory name is of type
    string. is there any other way to achieve this?
    SAP Ver: 4.7
    <b>Question:2</b>
    I need to download chinese description to an excel file from an internal table. I could able to achieve this when I use Chinese version of windows and log into SAP in <b>'ZH'</b>.
    I agree that to see the chinese characters properly we may need to log in the chinese version of Windows. But I don't understand the reason that why do we need to log into chinese version of SAP? i.e 'ZH'. I have decla=red the description field as character in the internal table declaration and in the FM 'GUI_DOWNLOAD', I specify the file type as <b>'ASC'</b>. Any clues on this to get this executed being logged in <b>EN</b> version of SAP?
    Thanks,
    Siva

  • Console does not launch OVM 3.1.1, Win7x32 Firefox15/IE8 - Empty .jnlp file

    I have installed Oracle VM Manager 3.1.1, and two Oracle VMS servers; all seems to have gone pretty well after some learning curve. After success here, I created Clone of the most recent PeopleTools 8.5.2 and PeopleSoft HCM templates, and was able to start those machines. (Or at least, the Virtual Machine status shows "Running..." - read on.)
    However, when I try to launch the console, I get no success. First, when accessing the VMM server over HTTPS (port 7002), Java doesn't even try to start. Instead, basically, I get a screen blink and nothing else when I try to Launch Console from HTTPS. But when using HTTP:myVMM:7001, I get further. The Java logo appears briefly, and then I get "Application Error - Unable to launch the application" dialog. When I click on Details, I see the following under the Exception tab:

    Looking further into this, the .jnlp that's presented to JAVA by Launch Console is zero bytes in length. What might cause the .jnlp file to be empty?

    Thank you very much for your rapid reply, SPA2! It's encouraging!
    You named the file correctly, and there is only one ovm_rasproxy-ws.jnlp on the system. It is at /u01/app/oracle/ovm-manager-3/machine1/base_adf_domain/servers/AdminServer/tmp/_WL_user/ovm_core/tgzc2b/war/ovm_rasproxy-ws.jnlp. It is not empty - has a size of 1028 bytes, and the contents are listed at the bottom of this message.
    I don't know how to start the vncviewer directly from the OVM Manager machine. I did install the package (twice, in fact... and the second time stated "package tightvnc-java-1.3.9-3.noarch is already installed" There are no executables in the tightvnc-java-1.3.9-3.noarch.rpm package, and I have not found indication of what the URL would be. Can you help with that?

  • Forms/Reports Chinese character support

    We have an existing db (10.2.0.4.0) and forms (11.1.2.1.0) application, that we're trying to extend to support Chinese characters.
    We're looking to add some unicode (nvarchar2) columns to existing tables, rather than converting the whole db charset.
    I've pasted my environment settings below. What I've found so far in trying to create a local (ie. running the form in Builder with local weblogic running) test form, is that I can insert the chars ok (using plsql developer) and the test form can display them correctly, but cannot write them back to the database. They appear as upside down question marks in any records the form has created.
    Env variables:
    NLS_LANG = .UTF8
    Database:
    NLS_CHARACTERSET = WE8MSWIN1252
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET = AL16UTF16
    1) So, can anyone give me any pointers on how to get the form to write the characters back into the database correctly?
    2) The chinese chars will only be relevant to a few forms inside the app, are there any settings local to the form that will enable unicode support, rather than setting at OS level. ie, an alter session, or equivalent?
    3) Oracle Reprts doesn't appear to have an nchar datatype unlike Forms, is there anyway to get Reports (generating PDFs), to include Chinese, or is it not possible?
    thanks in advance, please let me know if you need any more info.
    **EDIT**
    I now have the chars writing back to the db ok. If you do it via an INSERT statement from inside the form, it doesn't work. It appears the value is sent to the db in the normal charset rather than the national charset, and it's written as a question mark. If you pass the value from the form into a back end stored proc though (which does the insert) it works okay.

    I have not worked with Forms for a long time. Are use sure they actually support the NVARCHAR2 data type?  My memory tells me that they do not.
    I recommend migrating the database to AL32UTF8.  You can support NVARCHAR2 in Forms using workarounds with stored procedures to move data as you described (you should be able to do this while reading as well.) but NVARCHAR2 data type is discouraged as it is not necessarily supported by all database features. For example, you cannot built an Oracle Text index on an NVARCHAR2 column. I am also not surprised that Reports cannot support NVARCHAR2.
