Choose the way of developing new system

We are going to develop new system . It will we typical distributed bank system and will position as 24/7 system so in this case it should be aссessible every minute and it should process all requests in real time. I understand that it's not convenient to give advices remotely but I need help. So I see two ways of developing:
1. Using RAC in each point of processing.
2. Using simple Oracle database with replication all data into another server.
There are too many options in using both methods. I see.
What way is the most suitable in such systems? I've mentioned above that our system will be distributed. I see it will be the main reason in my choice. Am I right?
I would be very much obliged to you if anyone has experience in developing such system and give me some advices. Sorry for my English :).

I meant in my last line that in one moment we will be needed to add some hardware in our system - it's supposed that our application is tuned for any expand of system. We can add processors - but if the server has free slots for them. But if server has free slots - it isn't problem to buy processors from the beginning. I meant - if server exhausts all resources and we have to change it or add some more servers. How can we do it in simple Oracle base?
In RAC we can add more nodes in it and it will work better. But it's also problem because according to Oracle documentation we have to add exactly the same server in cluster. We will not be able to find exact servers after two years, for example. Moreover for expanding system, it's likely, we wish to increase number of processors in one server. We can't do it. And now I don't see the sense of cluster at all.
I agree with you, that Streams maybe isn't the best tool for my goal. But I can choose another soft or combine several tools (for example, I can use DataGuard or combine any tools with Backup etc).

Best way to handle news system?

I am new to Oracle Portal and not yet fully aware of what it can and cannot do natively.
I have to design a system to display news with the following requirements:
- different categories of news displayed on different pages (some on more than one page)
- has to be updatable by non-IT staff, with no risk to the rest of the portal, and a simple enough interface
- when first entered, a news should not be display, but stay "hidden" to normal users until confirmed (this is not really the "approvals" system, AFAIK - the same person who entered the news can confirm it, it must simply be a two-step process with the possibility for a trusted third-party to view the submitted news on the Portal before it is confirmed)
- since one of those news appear on the homepage, the displaying of those news must be very fast
Anyone here has suggestions as to wether it's doable purely using Oracle Portal, or wether I will have to continue using the current system, a jsp-based portlet with slow access to a News DB?

first: all the functionality you describe is available in portal out-of-the-box.
to answer your questions:
- every item in portal has meta-data. you can for example have categories for your news and manage them all on one page. for displaying the news you can display different categories on different pages. still, the items would be managed only one time on a central location. many different options here.
- you can setup a simple approval process that allows non-it stuff to add items. full self service content management and publishing available in portal. now if they add an item you can setup a simple approval process that needs to be run through before the item is published. until this point the item is hidden. you can setup the approval process so that the same user who submits the item can also approve it (althoug this does not make too much sense).
- if you display news on the home page and it needs to show up very, very fast you can cache this page on system level. this way it would be cached in webcache for a certain time and directly served from there until it checks back if the content has changed. depends on your requirements. everything is possible here.
i suggest to read the documentation (users guide) since you ge a lot of basic information how to build a portal.

Yes, you can as suggested in previous post. The key is that:
1) You can disable standard portal navigation (part of Exp Def)
2) Develop your own PORTLET that will implement custom navigation.
Depends of what you need your portlet may be implemented as header, canvas or regular portlet.
For example, you may choose to go with regular portlet if you already have a lot of legacy code that have to drive this navigation. Yes, this way has drawbacks and looks more like exception.

C7 breaks down after choosing the resolution for a new project

Hello Community,
finally I succeeded in installing C7 on my MacBook Pro with Mavericks 10.9. But it breaks down every time after I choose the resolution for my project. The beachball appears for one second and then C7 breaks down.
On the same MacBook I can open C7 on another account. But I want to use C7 on my account.
Has anybody expereienced the same problems?
Has anybody a solution for my problem?

Please help me with choosing the Hardware for my new computer

I am creating a new editing machine that i will be using After effect, photoshop, flash, illustrator, and 3ds max. I do a lot of 3d and 2d animation, video editing and graphic design.
This is the system i am currently planing on building:
CPU: intel core i7 2600k ( I will be overclocking it to around 4.8 ghz)
Motherboard: Asrock p67 extreme6
Memory: G.Skill ripjaws x series 16gb ddr3 1600 cas latency 7
Graphics Card: Gtx 570
Power Supply: Rosewill bronze series 1000w
Hard drive: 4x Corsair F120 in raid 0
Case: Bitfenix collosus
Cpu cooler: Noctua Nh-d14
I have a budget of $2500 for this computer. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on things i should change or would recommend a completely different build for my budget.
Also i was wondering if the gtx 570 was a stupid choice and i should get a quadro 2000 instead. I dont do any gaming.
One last thing, do 4 ssd in raid 0 help at all or should i just get 8 hard drive in raid 10, or should i spend less money on hard drives.
P.S. I know that the the i7 2600k has been recalled but i am in no hurry to build this computer. Also feel free to recommend hardware that hasn't yet been released but will probably be out in the next 8 months.
P.S.S All of the programs i listed are CS5.

Agree with all from Todd, and some things I'd consider:
Dual CPUs will pack more rendering punch, especially in your 3D work.
Even though 16GB of RAM is generous, I'd consider more. Remember the rule: 2GB for each CPU core, plus some more for OS and other applications. If you're running 8 threads/cores for rendering, 24GB would be optimum.
While the hard drives will provide awesome performance in that config, it's a lot of money to spend on less than a terabyte of storage. RAID 0 is also pretty volatile, so be sure to run a reliable and regular backup system.
For my money, I'd probably use one good-sized SSD for a system drive, then 3 or 4 conventional (or hybrid SSD) drives for media storage, with a decent RAID controller. You'll get 3 times the storage for half the price, and still have quite zippy I/O speeds.

Can I choose the default calendar for new events?

I have multiple calendars in iCal. When I create a new event on the iPod, it always defaults to the same calendar, but it's a less frequently used calendar so that's rarely the one I want. Is there a way to set the default calendar to my most frequently used calendar so I'm not having to change to a different one on a regular basis?

On the iPod you can select the default calender: Settings>Mail..>Calenders (Scroll to bottom of the Mail... screen).

A funny thing happened on the way to my new car

Textbooks in different languages can i choose the way to view pages?

ibooks author supports english textbooks and other languages that are viewed left to right, i want to make a textbook in another languages like Arabic, Urdu and Hebrew which is read in opposite direction (right to left).
I cannot change the direction of pages i have to view it like an english book ! is there an option to change the direction of the book in lanscape mode?

The page view/flow that you see in the output from iBA is fixed...can't be changed.
As an alternative, Pages uses horizontal page turning with it's epub output and I believe you can set the opening page to help direct the flow there.

First, you get two activations. If the second has not been used you are good to go. You can contact technical support and ask to have you activations reset. However, Adobe support may not be available this week. If so, run the software on your new system in trial mode until Adobe support re-opens.

With a single user license, you can install Acrobat on maximum two computers, say, your laptop at work and desktop at office.
But, you cannot use Acrobat on both the machines simultaneously.
You will first need to deactivate Acrobat from the old machine, then install and activate the software on the new OS with the same serial key.

If you have the two allotted activations already and one was lost on the hard drive that failed then you need to contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.

How to hide system tables when using the Oracle SQL Developer?

I would like to know how can I show only the tables that I created under the Tables tree? I didnt find a way to create a separate database using the Oracle Sql Developer. I see all the tables together, and would like to differentiate between different databases.

How to hide system tables when using the Oracle SQL Developer? if u connected with sys, system or user with dba role then u have a privilege to see these tables,so revoke the privilege/role from ur user to view this tables if ur connected other then sys,system,
I didnt find a way to create a separate database using the Oracle Sql Developer. DBCA is a tool for creating the new database.

Firefox will not let me get on any websites (safe AND not safe), claiming that it "may pose a security threat to your system"; when I try to choose the "proceed unprotected" option, it won't let me.

My computer's anti-virus software recently expired. A few days later, I went to download a new anti-virus software . . . when I opened up Firefox, I received a warning that claimed Firefox was infected with "Trojan-BNK.Win32.Keylogger.gen", and gave me two options: "Activate XP Security 2011 (recommended)" (this was a $60 charge and required credit card info) or "Continue unprotected (Dangerous)"
Since I needed to install new anti-virus, I figured I would continue unprotected, download my new software quickly, and remove the virus. But when Firefox opened, it gave me a message saying: "Firefox alert. Visiting this site may pose a security threat to your system!". Gave me three options:
1. "Get a copy of 'XP Security 2011' to safeguard your PC while surfing the web (RECOMMENDED)"
2. "Run a spyware, virus and malware scan" (I already did this)
3. "Continue surfing without any security measures (DANGEROUS)"
I tried clicking on different links, but the same warning kept showing up, even on verified and safe sites. I tried to choose the third option so that I could download my anti-virus software quickly, but nothing happened when I clicked on it - the page reloads and the warning shows up again.
My computer is still without anti-virus software because Firefox will not let me surf the internet. Please help!

It sounds as though your PC is infected with fake antivirus software. The detailed cleanup instructions vary depending on which fake AV you have. However, as a first step, try this:
Download the following on a different PC, copy them to a USB flash drive or CD, and then run them on the infected PC:
Malwarebytes Anti-malware : http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
SUPERAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/
Hopefully these will get you back online safely. If not, search for clean-up instructions for the specific malware.
