Cinema 4d integration

Ive been reading about the next version and cinema 4d integration but I cant figure out if cinema 4d come with AE or do you have to purchase separately.      Is it just a plug in for importing? Can you still use AE without it? I red that its the lite version and I cant see anywhere where to purchase it.

Personally I'm not impressed with Cineware and therefore yes, it could be considered "lame". The demos look underwhelming and poorly planned and as I wrote in my article give the exact opposite impression - it's one hell of a clumsy workflow. AE itself not having received any enhancements to its own 3D space and Cinema4D being devoid of an interactive "preview" renderer like in modo or Lightwave's VPR renderer is apparently not a good combination in the first place. I also don't get why they haven't at least implemented some typical VFX workflows natively like projection mapping with AE's cams and Projection Man. It just doesn't feel right and there's so many loose ends... There's a lot of work to be done to make this better and by that I don't mean to just give people C4D Studio to stuff their mouth. Adobe and Maxon have to be careful and make smart decisions about future versions of this or they'll be forever locked into this. The rest is neither here nor there - being poor doesn't necessarily make you a better artist and Blender, while having a completely different UI paradigm than most other 3D programs and a different workflow order, is perfectly workable. Pardon me for saying this, but you're complaining about a luxury problem. You should have seen 3D Studio (for DOS) 20 years ago or some other 3D program back then and trying to figure out complicated things without resorting to video tutorials or chat help from friends. Compared to that it's damned easy to get into 3D - not that I necessarily agree so many people should, but that's another topic...

  • Does cinema 4d lite work without cinema 4d

If I get the Creative Cloud subscription, because I only have CS.6 right now, does Cinema 4d Lite work in After Effects without the whole Cinema 4d program?

Cinema 4D Lite is a full application and does not rely on previously installed Cinema 4D applications.

  • Question about Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects

Hello guys! I'm kind of new to both after effects and cinema but I was wondering if I made a project on cinema, can |I transfer it to after effects and add it to a video?

Technically, I want to do this kind of claw animation and zoom into my adobe title.
Even better is if theres anyway of replicating this kind of animation in adobe after effects. If this can be done it would be appreciated if you could tell me how!
I have plenty of time to do this school project so any help would be very helpful! Thank you very much!

Yes. If you render out your C4D file into a format with alpha, you could very easily place a video behind it in AE. You can even easily bring your C4D camera move into AE if you wanted to. For several years Maxon has provided a plugin to bring a C4D project's cameras, lights, and nulls or solids (that have been tagged with the External Compositing Tag) into AE. Lately, however, there is another way. If you have AE CC (version 12) or CC 2014 (version 13), there's another way: details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects

I have installed the latest version of After Effects CC, and it runs fine.
The problem is that the Cinema 4D-part of After Effects will not start up.
Have anyone else encountered this problem?

  • Can't access cinema 4d lite within AE 6 CC

I have version AE 6 CC but I am not able to access Cinema 4D lite. I just updated the program, and it still not working.

It is not clear what you mean by 'AE 6 CC'.
Cinema 4D Lite is included with After Effects CC (12.0) and later.

  • Cinema 4D Lite wont render in After Effects?

I'm a beginner with After Effects and while trying to use Cinema 4D Lite I came back to After Effects and made a new Composition with the .c4d file. All that showed up in my composition was black, and if I scrubbed through nothing showed up and it stayed the same. When I tried rendering it gave me "After Effects error: RAM Preview needs 2 or more frames to playback."
I'm not very tech savvy, so if someone would kindly help fix the problem in a simple manner that would be awesome!

  • Adobe After Effects CC 2014 don't work with brand new Dell m6800 with AMD FirePro m6100 video card

    Hello!
I got brand new Dell Precision m6800 with AMD FirePro m6100 FireGL V. Premiere and Photoshop works more or less fine, but there is a problem with AFx - software kills videocard (screen goes black for several seconds and then appears this notification - IC454010.gif gif by stumped2 | Photobucket ). After that - AFx hangs on. All the drivers are up to date (tried different AMD drivers - same situation), Windows 7 Pro - up to date, AFx - up to date.
Got small chat with Dell support team and they said - everything must work fine.
So - where is the problem? I spent almost 2.5k euros for this Dell mobile workstation, but right now I`m stuck with this problem. PS - funny fact - my Dell M6800 is on Adobe's hardware performance white paper, but seems that this means nothing

AE uses the GPU for very little. See here: GPU (CUDA, OpenGL) features in After Effects
Unless you're doing a lot with the ray-traced renderer or third party plugins (like Element 3d), AE won't really use your GPU at all.
And the ray-traced renderer is built on NVIDIA technology so it can never use an AMD card to accelerate it. You'd need an NVIDIA card.
That's probably part of the reason that the AE team has stopped putting any development time towards the ray-traced renderer and are focusing on a more powerful (and less GPU specific) way to do 3d in AE: details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects That's right: C4D is included for free with After Effects!
Since you don't have an NVIDIA card, this will actually render faster than the ray-traced renderer too!

  • Video Cards that will work with AE CC

I need a card to work with my AE CC on the road..(LAP TOP)  for video editing and AE production of changes.I understand the list provided by adobe is a partial list I would like some other choices
    Thanks   Dave

If you're using AE CC, there is no need to use the ray-traced renderer. It has now become obsolete with the arrival of faster-rendering, more powerful solution that comes FREE! Check out the  details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects CC (12.0)
The card list on the Adobe page is for cards that are certified to accelerate rendering of the ray-traced renderer. Otherwise AE uses the GPU for very little. Read more on the GPU (CUDA, OpenGL) features in After Effects CS6 here. Now, some third-party effects (like Element 3d or Red Giant Universe) make use of the GPU, but their requirements are very different and they could use a much broader range of cards. If you plan to use any of them, you'd need to consult their requirements.

  • PHOTOSHOP 3D OBJECT IN AE

Hi. Does anybody know what to do to handle a photoshop 3D object in AE? It behaves like a flat shape!

Unless you are using a plugin, current versions of After Effects can't import a 3d file from anything. Not from Blender, not from Photoshop, not from Cinema 4D. Now, you can import a 3d object using Cinema 4d Lite which comes for free with After Effects. details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects CC
Some older versions of AE could import Photoshop 3d objects, but it was pretty buggy (which is probably why they stopped including that feature).

  • 3D Shape taking forever to render

    Hello All,
I have simple composition that animates a two shapes that I am using as a "screen" to show photos.  The shapes are 3D; the camera movement is minimal.  I have an Ambient light and two Spot lights.
I am on a one year old i7 processor with 16 GB of RAM.  Cache files are written to an SSD.
Still it is taking a long time to render (it's a three minute project and takes about 20+ hours to render), and there's no pics added - just the "screen".
The final project is similar to the many templates you can find that show photos/videos.   It's basically a fancy slideshow, but unlike those you can buy, it will hold 25 to 30 pics.
Any thoughts on what I can do to either use something other than a 3D shape (but still keep it 3D) or change parameters or workflow to cut down the render time. . .  I am pre-rendering the composition now (which will take the 20+ hours) but obviously, if I want to change anything with the movement or the overall length, it means another day of rendering.
    Thanks in advance,

If you are using the ray-traced 3D renderer and are not using a GPU that provides acceleration for that feature, rendering will be very slow:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2012/05/gpu-cuda-opengl-features-in-after-effects-cs6. html
In general, I recommend using the CInema 4D integration with After Effects over trying to use the rather limited ray-traced 3D renderer within After Effects:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2013/04/details-of-cinema-4d-integration-with-after-ef fects.html
By the way, 20 hours is not a long time for a 3-minute composition. People who work in 3D (in any 3D program, not just After Effects) often have renders take all weekend just for 30 seconds. 3D is computationally expensive.

  • Is the GTX 780TI and Adobe CC

I have a GTX970 but it is an unsupported GPU for Adobe CC, sadly.
So I am searching for a new GPU with almost the same specifactions but what is supported for Adobe CC.
I was looking for the GTX 780 TI, the normal 780 is supported, but is the TI version supported too?

Supported for what? The ray-traced renderer is an obsolete feature, but most cards will work for the rest of AE's features.
Details here: GPU (CUDA, OpenGL) features in After Effects
A more powerful option than the ray-traced renderer is Cinema 4D WHICH COMES INCLUDED FOR FREE WITH AE! details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects

  • How can I enable the GPU option on a new mac pro with 2 AMD D700 graphic cards?

I have recently purchased the new mac pro and I saw the GPU option is not enable and only recognizes the CPU one, what is frustrating. Does anybody know how to enable the GPU option?
    thanks

See this for details of how the GPU is used in After Effects:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2012/05/gpu-cuda-opengl-features-in-after-effects-cs6. html
Note that your card will be used for all of the GPU acceleration features but one---the ray-traced 3D renderer---which requires an Nvidia GPU. That is an obsolete feature that you don't need to worry about, anyway. There are many better alternatives to using 3D in After Effects, including Cinema 4D, which is now included with After Effects:
