Cisco 7600 Series Ethernet Services cards types & queue values

Hello,
There is different types for the Cisco 7600 Series Ethernet Services cards.
( More expensive cards with high queue values and less expensive cards with
low queue values.)
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps368/data_sheet_c78-549419.html
Hardware queues
ES Plus XT 40G line cards
• 128,000 ingress queues
• 256,000 egress queues
ES Plus XT 20G line cards
*• 64,000 ingress queues*
• 128,000 egress queues
Hierarchical QoS (H-QoS)
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps368/data_sheet_c78-570730.html
Hardware queues
Cisco 7600 Series ES Plus Transport 40G and 20G Line Cards
*Supporting up to 16 level 4 queues per physical port*
Hierarchical QoS (H-QoS)
Low queue cards have got only 4 queues per physical port. High queue cards
have got minimum 64.000 queue. This is very huge difference.  In what kind
of scenario do we have to use the High queue cards ? Could you give some
examples please ?  Kind Regards.
Burak

HI Burak,
Each time you configure a class with bandwidth allocation or shaping,.. a queue will be used so if you use such card to provide QoS for a lot of subscribers sharing the same interface, you will need a lot of them !!

  • Cisco 7600 Series can't back up it's config using Ciscoworks

We have a problem with Ciscoworks. Our client's Cisco 7600 can't back up it's configuration with Ciscoworks, while the rest of the devices can. They are all enrolled and discovered in the Ciscoworks of our client. Do you have any idea how to troubleshoot this? Thanks!

Have you partitioned the drive and formatted it Mac OS Extended (Journaled?) If not, try that and see if it helps:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disk. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.

I'm looking for iformation if CFM Local Maintenance End Point configured on Cisco 7606 router is able to respond to the Y.1731 Performance Monitoring (DMM/DMR ).
I know I can use IP SLA to configure Y.1731 PM measurements, but I just need a reflector that will answer for incoming DMM messages with DMRs.

    FAQ

Is there a Cisco lab available for ASR 9000
we have "XR4U" stations coming available soon when XR 511 comes alive. The plan is for a downloadable play image like that. In the interim we have 2 demo systems available, and they can be booked via your account manager representative.
How will MOD160 perform with multiple 9000NVS?
very well. the mod 160 has 4 NPU's, 2 per bay. So if you have a 4x10 MPA to serve a satellite, you effectively have a single NPU per 20 1Gigs from the satellite. The pps performance will be stellar. However it might be price technically more ideal to connect satellite with a 36x10. Since the MOD-x has native MPA's with 1G also.
         2. Is there a shortcut for a Bundle-EthernetX interface, such as port-channel interface (poX), in Cisco IOS® ?.
usability enhancement is there, we are trying to push this into a new reasonable release. follow CSCuh04526
         3. What  is the revolutions per minute (RPM) on these hard disk drives (HDDs)  compared to the solid state drives (SDDs)? Will the spinning drives be  slow?
depends on the type we had avaialble at time of production, you will see different sizes and disks on the RSP2. the rpm of the HD is not so much an issue as much as the buffered writing we used to do in XR. This is fixed up with XR43 where the disk writing performance is much better. the HD/SDD is used for logging storage only (and maybe your pictures) but other then that we're not that concerned with write perf of the HD.

  • How to move a standalone Cisco C series to UCS managed service profile without losing data?

    Hi,
We currently have a standalone cisco C series server with Windows 2012 installed on the local disks.  We need to move this server to Cisco UCS managed with a service profile but cannot lose the existing data and OS boot method.
Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks

    Hi Adrian,
To be able to accomplish this set the local disk policy to "Any Configuration"  this way UCSM  won't overwrite the current raid configuration on the server.
    See link below

  • Ethernet over Public link with Cisco 65XX Series

We are transferring some equipment from one datacenter to another and we do not have private line connectivity between them at the current time.
We are hoping to be able to temporarily be able to establish some type of Layer2 connectivity between the facilities to help allow us to spread out the migration into 2 events.  We have Cisco 65XX series switches at the core at both facilities and I am wondering what we might be able to use to make this happen?
EoMPLS is out as we have to be able to extend the layer2 functionality across carrier networks and L2TPv3 is not supported on Cisco 65XX from what I have read / checked on our switches (if there is an IOS version that does support it, please let me know).
I have read a bit about VPLS over GRE but I am not clear on the configuration and/or if it supported as it references MPLS at various points within the documentation that I have read.
    Any guidance would be appreciated.

I've absolutely no idea if this would help in your case.
But anyway, I think 6500 handles DMVPN. May be MPLS over DMVPN would be a solution?

  • Cisco 2600 series router and cable modems

Hi everyone, I am just about to get started preparing for my CCNA... I am looking to pick up some used Cisco 2600 series routers to set up a home lab. I am wondering if it is possible to connect a cable modem directly to a 2600 series router? If so, do I need a certain type of WIC? I want to go from my cable modem, to a router, to my switch. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Yes you can, using the Ethernet port on the cable modem, you can connect the cable modem to the router 2600, and the 2600 comes with builtin ethernet or fastethernet (according to your platform).
    HTH,
    Mohammed Mahmoud.

  • Cannot ping Cisco C series server using direct connect to UCSM

We have connected 2 Cisco C series servers (VIC 1225 Cards) with direct connect to Fabric Interconnects and managed via UCSM but cannot get network working.
Service profiles have been created and pushed with only 1 VLAN and the default VLAN as native but cannot communicate with IP address configured.  Mac address is learnt at the Nexus 5K northbound switches.  Seems to be a VLAN tagging issue somewhere

We do not use the CIMC as the server is all managed from UCSM and the CIMC has to be set to default for this mode
Sorry I was not clear; I mean of course that even with UCSM, your C-series server will get an IP address for CIMC, which is used if you open a KVM session. You should be able to ping this IP address.

I might have an answer for you... or I might be COMPLETELY WRONG
If it isn't just a "failed" upgrade, as in you've tried the upgrade again and it still is happening.... I was reading something about older APs not have a Manufacturing-installed certificate (MIC) and these AP's generating a Self-signed Certificate (SSC).
The error you have is referring to SSC so I'm writing this as if you have not had to previously do this step for your other conversions.
I believe a couple of things needs to happen for SSC AP's.
    1) Must enable controller to accept self-signed certificated.
Security > AAA > AP Polices > Accept Self Signed Certificate > Apply
    2) Add AP to Authorization List in Security > AAA > AP Polices > Add AP To Authrorization List
Enter MAC Address of the AP
    Certificate type = SSC
SHA1 Key Hash can be obtained from the controller by issueing this command:
    "debug pm pki enable"
Look for the line: sshpmGetIssuerHandles: SSC Key Hash is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I believe you use the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX as the SHA1 Key Hash.
    3) If required, you may also need to add the AP MAC Address in the Mac-Filter: Security > AAA > MAC Filtering > New >
Hopefully its either a reload of the software or this SSC thing that fixes the problem....
