CISCO ASR901 BRIDGE BETWEEN 2 INTERFACES WITH XCONNECT

Hi All!
I'm looking for some way to make a transparent bridge between two interfaces of a Cisco router ASR901 , is there any possibility? I ask this because I have a scenario where I would use the ASR901 to the following question :
POP01 (                            )  ASR901  g0 / 6 -------- > ISG_7206
POP02 ( MPLS CLOUD )                   g0 / 7 -------- > ISG_7206
POP03 (                            )
The ASR901 will focus EoMPLS with other points in the network and pass on to ISG routers , ie , VLANs would have to be two ports with XConnect to a remote router , the configuration would be something like this :
interface GigabitEthernet0/6
Core description : MPLS CONC PPPOE02
no ip address
negotiation auto
hold- queue 1024 in
hold- queue 1024 in October
service instance 4095 ethernet
  encapsulation dot1q 4094
rewrite ingress tag pop 1 symmetric
interface GigabitEthernet0/7
Core description : 7206_PPPOE_01
no ip address
negotiation auto
service instance 4095 ethernet
  encapsulation dot1q 4094
rewrite ingress tag pop 1 symmetric
end
L2VPN XConnect context TEST
ethernet interworking
member 201.55.127.202 1212 encapsulation mpls group TEST
member GigabitEthernet0 / 7 service -instance TEST 4095 group priority 1
member GigabitEthernet0 / 6 service -instance 4095
redundancy group delay 1 3 TEST
But without an interface that was redundant of other , what I need is the 2 interfaces in " bridge " making a XConnect to a remote router , and these 2 interfaces connected ISGs in 2 to make a balance .

Hello,
I do not believe that the ASR901 will do this without help from an upstream device. If I understand correctly, you want to build a bridge-domain with 3 EFPs: 2 physical ports, and one pseudowire. As of the last IOS revision that I have configured on this platform, the 901 doesn't support the pseudowire on a bridge-domain, only a service instance.
It seems to me that you would need an upstream box involved to support this.
Either:
Build 2 pseudowires to an upstream box that supports this configuration (like an ME 3600x, ME3800x, or 9k).
or
Associate both service instances to a common bridge domain that is extended to an upstream box that is initiating the pseudowire. More platforms would support this, since it does not require supporting the pseudowire on a bridge domain.
...Unless you are looking to build an LACP channel-group on the interfaces connected to the ISGs to load-balance. The 901 supports LACP, and it also supports building an EFP (service instance) on the channel-group interface. This technically makes the 2 physical interfaces one EFP. The part of this that I have not tried is building a pseudowire on an EFP on a channel-group.
Hope this helps.

  • Cisco 9201 Routing between interfaces

    Done
    Thanks

We are upgrading our internet gateway to a cisco 9201 router. Two interfaces.
    GE0/0 - 67.x.x.98 255.255.255.252
    GE0/1 - 184.x.x.217 255.255.255.248
Next hop from GE0/0 is 67.x.x.97
    I have a static route of 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 67.x.x.97
The problem is that I can not get the two interfaces to route
ping from 184.x.x.220 to 67.x.x.97 fails. Trace route fails.
I am having an off-week. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • CS4 Bridge not interfacing with Photoshop.

I am evaluating the new Photoshop CS4 (it is purchased copy and not running on the 30 day trial) and have run into a problem in using Bridge CS4.
I am able to open an image using Photoshop's File Open command
BUT when I attempt to do so in Bridge
    I get this error
the top line in the error box is:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop.exe
The below that line is this error:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate premissions to access the item.
I have full administrator access to the computer in question.

If CS4 is like CS3 and you are using Vista and and external drive you may have to start Bridge in Adminsitartive mode. Right click on Bridge Icon and choose "Run as Administrator". I know sounds silly as you may be only user, but it can work this way.

  • Cisco 15454 2F BLSR interoperability with the Nortel LH combiner platform

Help anyone, my problem is the following:
The company I work for is interfacing with another company that is running a 2 Fiber BLSR topology with the ONS 15454. This device will be interfacing with our existing Nortel LH combiner platform running version 2.0. When we dicussed this application with Nortel, they told us that the Cisco 15454 will not interface with the Nortel LH combiner cards due to the fact that the Cisco 15454 two fiber BLSR implementation is proprieitary and not standards compliant in that it requires use of the K1 byte of the second STS-1. Basically, the Nortel combiner cards are not transparent to the second STS-1, so the K1 value input is losted. They claim they did not have this issue with other vendors' BLSR SONET devices, just Cisco's 15454.
Another way they decribed the problem was: "The Nortel LH combiner cards do not work with the 15454 BLSR topology because of a proprietary overhead usage conflict. The Cisco product uses an undefined overhead byte for a BLSR check sum which conflicts with Nortel combiner mapping of tributary defined overhead into unused overhead of the aggregate line."
I do not know what software version Nortel was running when they did this testing with the ONS 15454, but I thought maybe someone has heard this one before and that maybe Cisco corrected this problem with a later release. Help anyone!

    K3 Byte remapping is required...
"The ONS 15454 uses the K3 overhead byte for BLSR automatic protection switching (APS) to allow an ONS 15454 BLSR to have more than 16 nodes. If a BLSR is routed through third-party equipment that cannot transparently transport the K3 byte, you can remap it to either the Z2, E2, or F1 bytes on OC48AS cards."
Cisco allows more than 16 nodes in a BLSR but the K1 byte only has 4 bits available for 16 nodes. Cisco has extended this range of Node IDs which is proporietary to Cisco. However, I believe if the ring does not exceed 16 nodes then the 15454 complies to Telcordia standards...

  • Cisco ASA 5520 traffic between interfaces

    Hello,
I am new in the Cisco world , learning how everything goes. I have a Cisco ASA 5520 firewall that i am trying to configure, but i am stumped. Traffic does not pass trough interfaces ( i tried ping ) , although packet tracer shows everything as ok. I have attached the running config and the packet tracer. The ip's i am using in the tracer are actual hosts.
    ciscoasa# ping esx_management 192.168.10.100
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 192.168.10.100, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/1/1 ms
    ciscoasa# ping home_network 192.168.10.100
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 192.168.10.100, timeout is 2 seconds:
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Is this just a testing setup? I would suggest changing "internet" interface to "security-level 0" (just for the sake of identifying its an external interface) and not allowing all traffic from there.
I am not sure what your "packet-tracer" is testing. If you wanted to test ICMP Echo it would be
    packet-tracer input home_network icmp 10.192.5.5 8 0 255 192.168.10.100
I see that you have not configured any NAT on the ASA unit. In the newer ASA software that would atleast allow communication between all interface with their real IP addresses.
I am not so sure about the older ASA versions anymore. To my understanding the "no nat-control" is default setting in your model which basically states that there is no need for NAT configurations between the interfaces the packet is going through.
Have you confirmed that all the hosts/servers have the correct default gateway/network mask configurations so that traffic will flow correctly outside their own network?
Have you confirmed that there are no firewall software on the actual server/host that might be blocking this ICMP traffic from other networks?
Naturally if wanted to try some NAT configurations you could try either of these for example just for the sake of testing
    Static Identity NAT
    static (home_network,esx_management) 192.168.5.0 192.168.5.0 mask 255.255.255.0

    static (home_network,management) 192.168.5.0 192.168.5.0 mask 255.255.255.0
    OR
    NAT0
access-list HOMENETWORK-NAT0 remark NAT0 to all local networks

  • Integration problem between Cisco Seure ACS 4.2 with LDAP

    Hi expert,
I have a problem with the integration between Cisco Secure ACS 4.2 with SUN Java System Directory (LDAP). During the integration, I noticed that user failed to authenticate against LDAP via Cisco Secure ACS. The error message is "Authentication Type is not supported by external DB". In this case the "external DB" refer to LDAP. Anyone of you having an experience on integration on both product before? Can any of you give me some pointers about this. Attached are both screen capture on my ACS server.
    Thanks very much,
    Daniel

    Hi,
Thanks for the compatibility chart. Oh dear ..., it seems that the LDAP does not supports PEAP (EAP-MS CHAPv2) at all. Am not sure if the latest LDAP (particularly for SUN Java System Directory) able to support this authentication protocol.
Just to clarify with you all just in case if you wonder what I'm trying to do; our company wants to implement 802.1x over the network. So, every staff on the network must authenticated before able to access the network resources. Our Linksys switches supports this standard including Cisco switches of course. Our RADIUS server is Cisco Secure ACS 4.2 but all those users information including username and passwords are stored in our directory server (LDAP) which is SUN Java System Directory.
Since most of our staff machines are running on XP and Vista, the only available authentication method (beside certificate based) is PEAP (EAP-MSCHAPv2). Based on the compatibility chart, the generic LDAP does not supports this authentication protocol as what we noted the "authentication type not supported by external database" error message in the ACS logs.
From what I learned that the latest LDAP (version 3.0?) able to support this authentication protocol, but yet to be confirmed on my further research.
So... Anyone can advice me on this matter? Thanks very much !

  • Will Cisco sa520w interface with ProCurve 2626/2650? is the sa520w overkill?

    Hey,
The company I work for recently bought another company. At the new company there is an old expired Firebox X 550e. I am planning to replace an old expired Firebox X 550e with a Cisco sa520w. Will the Cisco sa520w interface with ProCurve 2626 & ProCurve 2650 switches?
Would you recomand a different security appliance/router than the Cisco sa520w. The main business needs are hardware firewall, VPN access for MAC (snow leopard & lion) and Windows xp/7 pro.
The other router I have been looking at: RV220W.
If i got the sa520w i would ge the 3 year IPS + ProtectLink Web bundle.
    Recommendations are welcome.

  • Problems with bridge between 2 weblogic

    Hello!
We try to set up a bridge between 2 weblogic 8.0 on 2 machines to send JMS-messages.
Our set up / system looks like:
              http://www.dsv.su.se/~fr-ander/images/Overview.jpg
When we send our messages they do not seems to get all the way trough.
Look at the following image that describes machine A during a send and receive.
              http://www.dsv.su.se/~fr-ander/images/weblogic_tables.JPG
              1 The bridge is running
2 We have not send a message yet and the monotoring looks like this.
3 We send a message from machine A to B.
4 Very often, just after the message is sent, we get this message from the monotoring of the bridge:
"WARN: faild and will connect later"
It lokks like the bridge is connected again after 15-30 sec.
How ever it seems that machine B indicates that something happens. In the next step (5) we have done the opposite and send from B to A. We get the same result on both machines when we monotor them after a send. In step 5 you see the monotoring of machine A after a send from B. The only difference is tha the bridge from B to A seems to be more stable and do not break down. It looks like it have the same state all the time "Forwarding messages".
5 Assume that we have send a message from B to A then it seems that we get a indication about that at A ("Messages high" and Messages received" increase), something do get to the destination. (The same happens if the secnario is from A to B). But we do not get a indication in the "Messages" column!! When we try to read from the queue FredrikReceive or OscarReceive we get nothing.
Do you guys got any idea why this happens?
              A) Why is the bridge "falling down" all the time when we send and why the bridge "get up" again a while later.
              B) Why do we do not find the real message, why do we get the indication that something happens but we can not read the message???
              Best regards
              Fredrik and Oscar

    Hi Fredrik.
Message bridges are tricky things, and there are a number of requirements that need to be in place for them to work correctly:
              - <b>ALL</b> JMS objects need to be unique between domains for XA transactions to work correctly. From looking at your diagram, this appears to be the case, but I can't see the name of higher level objects like your connection factory and JMS server.
              - the domains must have trust enabled, which means setting the same domain security credential for both domains
              - the correct adapter rar file needs to be deployed for the domain.
              Soooo...
              - which adapter are you using for the JMS bridge? (what is the name of the RAR file?)
              - are you getting any warnings/errors as part of starting the message bridge? From looking at the administration console, everything looks OK on first flush because you're getting a consumer plugged in.
But if you're not seeing those bytes pending disappear, that means there are transaction issues in communicating between the domains. (most likely caused by domain trust)
Try enabling the following switches in your start script for both domains:
              -Dweblogic.Debug.DebugMessagingBridgeStartup=true
              -Dweblogic.Debug.DebugMessagingBridgeRuntime=true
There's a pretty good FAQ for troubleshooting messaging bridges that I've used in the past here: http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/faq/msgbridge.html#251107
...and the general configuration reference for messaging bridges is here, if you haven't gone there already (apologies if you have) - http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/ConsoleHelp/messaging_bridge.html#1107082

Well you need to understand the behavior of h-reap or what it's called now, FlexConnect. In this mode, the clients are still remembers on the WLC until the session timer/idle timer expires. So switching between SSID's in h-reap will not be the same when switching when the AP's are in local mode.
Take a look at the client when connected in FlexConnect in the WLC GUI monitor tab. Thus will show you what ssid and vlan the client is on. Now switch to a different ssid and compare this. It's probably the same because the client has not timed out. Now go back to the other ssid and look again. Now on the WLC, remove or delete the client and then switch to the other ssid at the same time. Or switch SSID's and then remove the client. The client will join the new ssid and in the monitor tab, you should see the info.
There is no need to have clients have multiple SSID's unless your testing. Devices should only have one ssid profile configured to eliminate any connectivity issues from the device wanting to switch SSID's.

Once it is deassossiated, ihave to manually restart the bridges. How can avoid manual restarting so it would automatically associate after some time.
Also time is getting changed after restarting. Please help me to solve this problems.
    Regards,
    naisam

    Hi,
Following are the answers for your questions.
How often does this happen ?
This is happnenig two or three times in a day and mostly at eavening when the data traffic is high.
What is the distance between the bridges and RSSI ?
Distance is near to 600 mtr and RSSI is continously keep on changing between -51 dBM to -75dBM
Did this ever work without this issue or is this a new install ?
This installed one year before as a back up to my fiber link. This problem started recently only.
    Thanks,
    Naisam

  • N bridge between two 1252an in bridge mode at 5GHz

I've read in some of the cisco documentation on the 1250 series that root bridge or non root bridge modes are "not tested". They don't say "not supported". I have a client that could use a high bandwidth link between two buildings that are 100' or so apart. The fiber link has already been busted twice. Heavy heavy trucks kill the ground concrete. I have configed a 54Mbps solution with two 1242G's and some cisco yagi's. But, if an N bridge is possible with two 1252AG's, and go faster than the 54Mbps..I'd go with that setup.
Cisco documentation says the bridge modes show up in the 1252 webgui and are selectable. They just end it with "not tested".
    Any thoughts?

It became supported in recent versions of the 1250 IOS.
    |With this feature, the Cisco Aironet 1140 and 1250 Series can be configured for both access point and bridge functions. Bridging support on 802.11n access points offers added performance, reliability and throughput for basic wireless LAN coverage, wireless LAN coverage with wireless backhaul, and more traditional bridging applications.|

The folks a Wacom don't even answer the phone just a recorded message go to the web site with questions.  Not a good sign for a company. So what is a good design tablets for pressure sensitive stylus? Will wacom cintiq tablet interface well with Apple Imac IOS 10.8?
I love my Samsung note 3 but it will not easily transfer images to apple Imac 10.8.
Please help me find tablets with good adobe design interface?  Just tell me which way to jump. It is easier to leave Apple for PC or Android  than to abandon Adobe knowledge. The products have to work together.
Does wacom Cintiq not embrace an easy interface with Apple  Imac IOS 10.8 latest software. Wacom seems to be championing Windows 8 as a companion to their tablet interface.
Can an Ipad deliver good layered designs using adobe software design programs and a stylus?
What should I buy for an Adobe design tablet with pressure sensitive stylus for ths Holiday Season?
Should i wait until next year?
Will the tablet work in  Photoshop layers?

To be honest, I don't understand how the Linux bonding mode can work without anything configured the other end.
My understanding of 'bonding' comes from Multilink PPP (MLP) where the data stream is chopped up and split across two (or more) circuits. At the other end, a similar MLP-enabled device reforms the data stream from the multiple circuits, maintaining packet order. But this requires MLP-enabled 'bonding' devices at each end.
Perhaps you could help me better understand the Linux bonding...

If the firewalls operate in the same fashion as Cisco ASAs, then the inter-firewall link doesn't carry traffic. It's for failover detection and HTTP replication only. But like I said, I'm not familiar with this vendor's products.

    Same as above.

  • Wireless Bridge between 2 building

    Hi !
I need a wireless bridge between a second building (across the street, about 100' direct) to our main building and a switch.
Can anyone recommend me a good products/solutions.
The purpose of this bridge is to connect the remote office via a small Cisco Switch with 6 computers, and 6 IP Phones w/video.
    Thanks !

The 1300 comes in two flavors, one with internal antenna and the other with external antenna connectors. For the distance you indicated I would use the internal antenna model, it is rated for up to 1.25 miles and requires less accuracy in alignment than the YAGI antenna. I believe the spread of the signal is 15 degrees on the built in antenna.
The YAGI could be used with the external antenna model but will limit your exterior coverage for users other than the remote bridge.

  • Is it possible for Nexus7000 flexible netflow monitor for interfaces with different vrf and export to one netflow analyzer?

I have a Nexus 7000 with many vlan interfaces with multiple vrf, I would like to know if my netflow analyzer only connected to one vrf, can I use flexible netflow on the Nexus 7000 to monitor those vlan interfaces with multiple vrf and export them to my netflow analyzer, so that I can see all flow from different vrfs on my netflow analyzer?
    Thank you!

Adriano, there is a RV042G, which supports the gig ports and a 800 mbps nat throughput. Here is the datasheet

If you are using a DSL connection, the SRP527/547 models may be an alternative. These models support the RFC 1483 Bridges EOA Please note the SRP547 should be 10/100/1000. Also note the SRP521/541 are Fast Ethernet units and they do differ from the SRP527/547. The main selling point of these devices are the FXS/FXO ports. So this may also be a bit of an "unfocused" solution. But it's worth throwing the idea out there!
