CK11N, release new costing estimate

Hello all experts,
Please help me on the following question, thank you!!
For example: Product A, it has a standard cost estimate which is released on 01.01.2010, it's costing date from is 01.01.2010 and costing end date is 31.12.2010. In the middle of the year, for example in May, the exchage rate was change a lot, so we want to release a new cost estimate for it. The costing start date is 01.05.2010 and costing end date is 31.12.2010.
My question is: Is it possible for me to do so directly in CK11N and then mark and release it in CK24?
Thank you very much!!!
Mavis

Dear,
The Standard Cost Estimate/Costing  Run will be executed only in Company Code Currency i.e., Local Currency. Exchange rate differences will happen only during execution of Actual Postings.
For example : Goods Receipt of 100 units @ $ value of Rs. 45.
Finished Goods Account   DR      4500
GR/IR Clearing Account    CR       4500
Invoice Receipt/Invoice Verification -MIRO:
Invoice Receipt 100 units @ $ Value of Rs.48
If the stock is available, the Inventory/Stock Value will be revaluated with the new price. If the stock is not available the Exchange difference will be posted to Exchange Gain/Loss Account based on OBYC settings,  like this.
Exchange Gain/Loss A/c     DR     300
GR/IR clearing A/c               DR   4500
Vendor A/c                            CR   4800
If you want to update the Material Master with new Standard Price, you need to Reorganize existing Cost Estimate through t-code CKR1 and re-run t-codes CK11N and CK24 for Mark and Release the new price.

  • Sytem restrictions during Releasing new Cost Estimate during the year

    Hi,
We are currently using Moving Average Price for Traded materials (Material type ZHAW) with Price Control indicator "V". We have an internal requirement to change the basis of valuation to Standard Cost immediately. Thus we have to change the following immediately before the close of the current Financial year:
    1) Change the Price control indicator from 'V' to 'S' in the material master of Traded materials.
    2) Thereafter, release new Standard cost estimates for all such materials in the current year. This is required because the business wants to have a different standard cost from the existing Moving average price.
I would like to know what are the system restrictions / safeguards to be taken care of before doing the above activities, since we are doing this before the period-end & year -end.
Your early response will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    R.Rajaraman

You can change the price control from V to S or vice versa. You might need some additional config for if required to send the price differnece to variances account in OBYC. Other than that since it is trading materials which are not produced you might not need Product Costing Planning.

  • Releasing Standard Cost Estimate

Is it possible to release a cost estimate of a product more than once in a month ? If yes, please provide me clues.

It is based on the no. of times the costing run you did. If any change in the cost /prices and if it requries....then rerun is compulsory.
Normally, releasing happend at the end, after checking all the data. because if any thing found extra/new in the materials.

  • Ck11n create a cost estimate

    Hi guys
Could you provide the solution please….
SAP P01 – Transaction code <b>CK11N create a cost estimate doesn't’t use the planning exchange rate for inter company purchased items
Client a dev d2 16 example of it – part f00008537012, plant CA12 – this is using the M rate instead of the P rate
    Regards,
    Prudhvi

You might be using special procurement key for the component in the BOM, which is sourced from inter-company.
During the calculation of the cost estimate of the material, the system reads the price from the cost estimate of the component in the supplying plant. The priority of the future, current or previous cost estimates are set up in the transfer strategy (or transfer control)  for cross-plant (t-code OKKM).
What are the currencies involved in your case?

  • Precaution for releasing the cost estimate

    Hello friends,
What are the precautions to  be taken for releasing the cost estimates.
Like any delivery are done and invoices to to made in Sales.
What are the other precautions. Please let me know, as we have to release the cost estimate in production.
    Regards,
    SK

    Hi,
do you mean released to standard price?
1: cost estimate needs status "costed without error".
2: marking allowance in CK24 must be set for company code/period for the costing variant used.
3: Costing variant is assigned to a costing type that allows price update to standardprice.
4: Cost estimate is marked (without errors).
Aftre that its possible to release the cost estimate to S-price.
    best regards, Christian

  • Release of Cost estimate error

    Hi,
I am creating a material cost estimate by CK11n.
Then doing Marking of the cost estimate in CK24.
But, while releasing it gives errors like present period is too early.
I have checked the current period in MM03.
Ususally this problem starts during last week of the month. After 17th or 18th of the month the costs do not get released, accounting documents of billing docs of SD doesn't get generated. It asks for waiting till opening of next period.
Why this kind of error happens? An elaborate explanation will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Prithwiraj.

While executing CK11n, please ensure that, start date as today's date. You will not find any error in CK24 if the CK11n start date is current date.
Please make sure that, you are in current period.

  • Component Price Change before CK11N for Std Cost Estimate-Mat(ppc1)

    Hello CO Gurus ,
When I am running std. costing (ck11n) for a fert material it is giving price by exploding its bom( adding component prices).
I want to take one of its component price by taking 125% .( i.e. in the master (account view )of component price is Rs.100, I want to take its price as Rs.125  without increasing its quantity and then add the total price of fert material. There is a tab 'costing relevancy' in bom component component, I am clicking 125% costing rel. indicator, but it is taking master Std price not 125% of this Std price.
How to increase the component price more than specified in its master?
    Your answer will be appreciated
    Regards
    Jia

    Hi,
There is what can I suggest.
Create new costing variant with valuation variant that takes for example planned price 3 into account when running ck11n. Then put the new price for the material in planned price 3 field in costing view 2. This way you can recalculate cost with different prices for components without changing BOMs and Standard prices.

  • Mark and release a new cost estimate in a different system than the one run

    Hello all,
Here is my functionnal lanscape: in system A, I am managing all the stocks hence material master data.
In system B, I am managing production, financials and Controlling.
Hence, once I edit a costing run to have a new standard price in system B, how can I mark and release this new standard price for my material that is maintained in system A. Do you know any standard idoc for this purpose ?
Also, how will happen the stock revaluation.

  • Raw material cost estimates

    HI experts,
Currently we have the following scenario:
There are some raw materials which are procured externally, and these materials are maintained with price control S
Well, the problem is that the standard cost for the material consists of a few more components, for example:
The standard price for the material X is 20 USD which consists of:
    - the price of the material itself : 15 USD
    - the import duty : 5 USD
let's say if the actual import duty happened during IR is 6 USD, how can we get the variance from the difference between the import duty? I am unfamiliar with raw material cost estimate, but seeing that the import duty will be captured using condition type in PO, i assumed that we can use raw material cost estimates with this, and use the COPA report with record type B for this case.
Could anyone give any suggestions regarding this case? It is better if it comes with step to step guide.
Thank you very much in advance
    Regards,
    Erwin

    Hi Erwin
    1. The ideal design would have been Price Control V if the material is outright purchased... There by not leaving any scope for variances... You would agree that it is best to valuate inventory @ actuals as far as possible
    2. If you want to retain S, then release your Std cost as many times as the Base Price of 15 or Import duty of 5 usd changes... This will also avoid variances during MIGO.. However, it will throw up inventory revaluation figure each time u release new cost estimate
Else, the variances will be updated to CO or COPA as per your choice in OKB9.... The record type will be B
Are you not able to update variance to COPA?

  • CK24 Cost Estimate Release Log wrong message variables returned.

We are testing our upgrade to ECC 6.04 from 4.7.   I've created a cost estimate via CK11N.  I then use CK24 to mark and release the cost estimate.  At the completion of the release, a log is returned with the correct price change document and the correct number of materials and cost estimates updated.  I then select the green arrow to go back a screen.  It then shows an ALV grid with the new cost estimate std cost, price unit, and price change document.  If I select the log icon from this screen, it shows me a price change document that is several months old and the associated number of materials and cost estimates updated.  If I go back to CK24 screen and select log, it also will return this several month old document.  Has anyone else experienced this inconsistancy and know how to resolve?

Seems like a system issue where the document though generated as not been updated. Looks like upgradation related issue.

  • Material Cost Estimate - Release too early

    Hi,
I ran the cost estimate for one material on 12.06.2008 and i released the cost estimate. Here it is saying 'Cost Estimate released too early'. I thought system is releasing the cost for material for the next month. but i want to update the material cost for this month only.
And how many days before you have to run the cost estimate for the new month.
    sateesh

    Hi Sateesh,
Please check the period which you have mentioned in CK24.
I think the period you have given is of next month. Hence system is giving that message as next month's  period may not have been opened.
System allows to release cost estimate only once in a period. Normal practice is to carry out cost run at the end of the month.
Please do let me know if your problem is solved.

  • Release Cost estimates

    Hi all
Hope you all had a wonderful time during vacation.
I've got a problem here, when I'm trying to release the cost estimates. I get an error message that "Account 650300 requires an assignment to a CO object". The above gl account is a stock reval gains P&L account, but this problem was never there before.
Any ideas what could be the reason for this?
    Many thanks
    Rasa

    Hi,
    Good evening and greetings,
This revaluation is hit when there is a difference in Material Master price and the new Standard cost estimate...Earlier you would have defaulted a cost centre inside the cost element...please check inside the cost element for a cost centre...the best way to maintain is OKB9...Alternatively if CO-PA is active, the differences can be settled to the product hierarchy which is again a cost object.
Please reward points if found useful
    Thanking you

  • Can we use two costing variants for standards cost estimate release.

    Hi,
We have 2 plants (plant 5100 and plant 5200) under company code 5000.
We have run standard cost estimate(CK11N) for material 98001000027 at plant 5100 using costing variant ZG01 and at plant 5200 using costing variant ZG02. First, we released  standard cost estimate (CK24) for this materia at plant 5100 and set (in marking allowance) costing variant ZG01 and costing version 01. Next time when we are trying to release the standard cost estimate for the same material for plant 5200, it is automatically picking ZG01 as costing variant in marking allowance and it is not allowing to change the costing variant to ZG02 saying Company code 5000: Release already carried out, cancellation not possible, Message no. CK797.
Is it possible to use two different costing variants for release of standard cost estimate for a material at two different plants at the same company code? If so how?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Bijay

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply again.
What is the benefit of assigning "Single Valuation Variant same to different Plants" ? In costing variant also we can assign maximum only one valuation variant and this valuation variant will default for all the plants, and hence I dont think it is necessary to assign same valuation variant to different plants.
    My  issue is :
Example: ( Standard Cost Estimate for material 98001000027)
    Plant - 1
    Material Cost                                             Rs.100
    Labour Cost                                               Rs.50
Overheads (10% of Labour Cost)                  Rs.5
(say ,through costing sheet - 1)
    Total Standard Cost Estimate                      Rs.155
    Plant - 2
    Material Cost                                             Rs.150
    Labour Cost                                               Rs.100
Overheads (20% of Labour Cost)                  Rs.20
(say, through costing sheet - 2)
    Total Standard Cost Estimate                      Rs.270
Now, Please explain why we cannot have two Standard Cost Estimates for a material at two different plants? If it is possible to have two standard cost estimates for a material at two different plants, how to take care of  overheads (rate of which varies) at two different plants (plant - 1 > 10% and plant- 2>20%) as we can assign maximum one costing sheet to a valuation variant variant?
How to map the system so as to meet the above requirement?
    Thanks,
    Bijay

  • Re:No release of production order without standard cost estimate

    Hello Experts
I do not want to release any production order without standard cost estimate
I have come acroos the same problem raised by some other users and can you please suggest how to achieve this?
Is there any way to achieve this without user exit?
    Thanks and Regards
    Subbu

    Hello Subbu,
In this case, you need to put the status as "B4" Blocked in costing 1 view of material master, when you create the costing view and change it to "03" status when you released the cost estimate.
Please note that this field can be overwritten in MRP view also. Hence please get the good control of material master and good coordination with PP team to achive this.
Please let me know if you require any clarifications.
    Thank you,
