Clarification on return/restocking policy

On Dec 13, purchased a Droid 2 global to replace my aging 8830. Roughly 48 hours later I returned it to store and asked to reactivate the 8830. I emphasized my extreme displeasure with the unit's quality. However, on the receipt it states that the reason for return was "didn't like the touch pad". Although true, this is rather incomplete, I specified a number of problems, including
1) the touch pad was intermittently unresponsive, failing to register touches, even extended touches needed to invoke the widgets.
2) the phone had crashed multiple times, twice on boot-up, once in operation
3) it suddenly began to make notification sounds in response to incoming messages despite being in silent mode, (it had vibrate for at least an hour, then caused embarrassment when it interrupted a meeting)
4) the cardock app began to engage when holstered (to be clear, cardock was not on the home screen),
5) Wi-fi had been switched off, however, after recharging, the phone discharged rapidly because wi-fi had re-enabled,
6) Lost all charge after 6-7 hours of passive use, no phone calls, received some e-mail. In other words, it was unable to last a work day under passive conditions. This cannot be normal.
Note that this behavior was NOT similar to my son's phone of the same model bought at the same time. He has at lest 30% charge after 12 hours of non-passive use. His touch pad is responsive. He has had no odd behavior with applications launching without user initiative.  I am certain that this unit is defective. This was NOT a matter of preference, this is a defective unit.
On return, I was charged a  "restocking fee". To me this implies that this unit will be restocked.  Further, the explanation for the return implies that it was a preference rather than because the unit was defective.  Yet it was clearly defective and I stated this explicitly. My questions
a)why  is a restocking fee appropriate for a unit that should not be restocked
b) does the "reason" on my return receipt mean that this unit will be resold rather than returned to the manufacturer?
c) are these clearly defective properties (to me anyway) accepted as normal for this model?

The restocking fee applies if you return it for a defective and dont have it exchanged for the same make on your own preference. if you chose to get the same model and its deemed defective then it doesnt apply. The restock fee is to compensate the loss the vzw gets hit with because of the return. it can no longer be sold as new and so they now have lost out what they paid from the manufacturer. unfortunately it isnt a guarentee that a store will try to sell it again but as a certified pre owned device. and to the last question i havent heard a whole lot of backlash on the phone i mean with any type of technology theres always going to be some that has some type of defect.

  • Return/Exchange Policy Question

    Hello,
I recently bought a PS4 controller from Best Buy (picked it up yesterday), and the R2 button is already starting to become harder to press. Sony suggested that I contat Best Buy because Sony charges shipping to replace the controller. I was wondering what the return/exchange policy was for items that were already opened? Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello flaw600,
I'm disappointed to read that your new PS4 controller had developed a problem. Please know that I regret any inconvenience to you.
Neihn is right: as long as you're within 15 days of the date of purchase (30 days if you're a My Best Buy Elite member or 45 days if you're an Elite Plus member), you may return the controller  to your local Best Buy for exchange. Remember to bring along your original receipt!
I hope this helps. Thank you for writing to us with your question!

  • Policy Trace not returning any policy matches

    Hi Guys,
Our issue here is that when we run a policy trace on any of our AD users - it doesnt seem to pull any group information and does not match any policies either.
However if i try access an URL like www.google.ie and monitor the activity from the cli - i cann see that the user has in fact had certain policies applied to it.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how resolve this.
Running the command testauthconfig - completes successfully.
    Cheers

    Hi Christian,
I tried what you requested, but still no luck.
I can search for a user in the root domain and it will display policy information for that user. However if i specify a user in a subdomain i get nothing back.
Cisco support seem to be suggesting that the Policy trace utilty is useless and that i should use the cli for any tracing - which is what i have been doing.
The policy trace utilty would be handy though as its easier than deciphering the squid type logs.

  • Returns/Refund Policy (non-Apple Retailer)

Hi. We bought the new Video iPod from an EmpireDirect store on Christmas Eve. Upon opening it Christmas Day, we noticed that the screen was not in perfect working order - the lower part of the screen looked as if it had been pressed in; the colours appear yellow instead of pure white. You can also make out a band of discolourization when you tilt the screen to the side. Having a fourth generation iPod myself, I know that the screen is not meant to appear like this.
However, the store would not allow us to either have it replaced for a new one or even request a refund. We were informed that we would have to contact Apple about the problem and that only they could re-issue us with a new one - something I find particularly odd, as surely any product purchased at a store can be replaced/refunded. Can anyone shed any light on this, or confirm Apple's policy. EmpireDirect also mentioned that it was because of Apple's policy that they could not deal with our request, but it doesn’t make sense.
Any information anybody can provide will be most welcome.

    Ben,
From the UK Sale of Goods FAQ
"Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale)."
"It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract."

  • What is the policy for dead pixel or stuck pixel in apple store?

Hi, i'm the new mac user here. I never use the MAC. I just bought it 2 day ago at apple store. I'm so happy when i carry it back to my home. When I turn on my macbook, I think to get 1 DOT bad pixel on my screen......Oh..Is it my fault??? I just bought it and i didn't do anything....I would like to exchange and try to tell the reason that is not my fault..COZ "THIS ITEM IS DEFECT"...I asked the stuff overthere. If i would to return or exchange, I have to pay 10% off restock fee..coz i had already open box. How's come I have to pay it? How can i know is defect or not if i didn't open the box. I just bought it 2 day agos. Is it fair for me?? I'm so upset with apple a lot. I have to take it back and put in front of me and see that dot in the next 3 year.......or as long as this mac gone.
My question, How u can fix it out for this policy? Do u agree for this policy?
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I had to return my first MacBook for a worse defect. They wanted to hit me with the restocking fee. I called the manager of the Apple Store I went to over and spoke with him. I explained the same thing to him that you stated here...Why should I be penalized for something I couldn't have known about with opening the box. I told him that I want to exchange it for a new one and I would not agree to paying the fee for that. However, I will agree to pay the fee to return it and purchase it from another retailer with a better return/exchange policy. He exchanged it on the spot, no fee.
My point...plead your case and explain that you are not going to pay a restocking fee for an exchange. Be professional about it. I'm confident you can make it happen.
You may also want to call Apple first. They can sometimes override the store and direct them to exchange it for you.

  • Returning my Damage Tablet

hey guys, wats up i want some information on the procedures and policy with returning or exchanging a tablet the has a active warrenty. the damage to the table was actually caused by the user would that affect the process of returning

    hi sandysantema,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums
Was there any physical damage on the tablet? If there is, you will not be able to return it (though you can call lenovo for service, there maybe a charge as physical damage is not convered under the warranty).
If the damage is software (i.e. apps are missing / not working), you need to check the policy of the store where you purchased it from (i.e. If you purchased it in bestbuy, see Bestbuy's Return & Exchange Policy)
    Hope this helps.

  • Difference between Return Po and Retuning with 122 movement type

    Dear Experts,
i need some clarification on Return Po and retuning goods with 122 movement type in the context of Excise invoice.
in our previous company we used 122 movement we capture excise invoice with J1IS and referring the incoming excise
and return the material to vendor.
in present company we are directly doing return Po and capturing excise invoice with J1is,here we are not capturing against the
    incoming excise,please clarify me.
    Regards,
    Varun

    Hi,
    Refer the below thread:
    Difference between 102, 122 and 161
In terms of stock movement, both 122 and 161 represents the return delivery to your vendor. The difference takes place in terms of how you are returning your delivery to your vendor - It is movement type 161 that SAP will automatically propose if your return PO is referenced. Otherwise, 122 movement type will be used instead.

  • Return Sony without the Box?

    Hello,
    I bought a Sony hdr-as100v.
    It works as it should.
Yet truthfully, I want to exchange it for the Go Pro Hero3 Black.
Can I return this Sony cam without the original box?
I have all the accessories, documentation, original recipt, with me.
Yet I do not have the box the camera came in with.
Any idea what I can do?

    Hey sonyCamUser,
Good question! You can absolutely return products without the original packaging as long as you're still within the 15-day return period. Just be aware that a small deduction may apply for any missing documentation or accessories when processing the return. The return period is also extended to 30 days for My Best Buy Elite members and to 45 days for Elite Plus members. Full details can be found here:

  • Flex caching policy files in error?

    Hello,
I am using the XMLSocket() class to send and receive XML content from a java socket program.  If I start the flex applicaion before the java app comes online then I get a SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR - which is OK.  But I have retry logic in Flex such that it will continue to try and connect (I am using a timer to retry).  Trouble is that once I start the java applicaion I still get the same SECURITY_ERROR, even when the socket and policy file are available.
So it would seem that Flex is caching the URL of my XMLSocket() with no policy file, because when it first tryed to load the policy file there was no response.  And it never tries to load the policy file again.  Even if I try to force it with the Security.loadPolicyFile call it still wont pick it up.
My java program returns the policy file from the XMLSocket directly.  Also it seems that if I stop the java program after flex has made the initial connection then the Flex applicaion can recover (so it seems that it is very importaint that flex have the policy file available the first time it is requested, as it gets cached for the life of the Flex runtime thereafter).
Seems like a bug to me...  I can work arround this by ensuring the initial connection is OK before I let the user into the applicaion, but I would think Flex could fix this.

I had to uninstall all of FLEX and the cfeclipse items
including cleaning out the registry (PC) then reinstall. it is such
a shame because cfeclipse is a very nice plug-in, I hate having
another window for my CF editing.

  • Help with return

    Hi,
I ordered a basic phone line for my father in the week of Christmas. Upon opening the box, we found that phone was loose in the shipping box and battery bag was ripped. So, we called customer service and the rep was very helpful. She ordered a replacement new device, confirmed there won't be any return (restocking fees etc) for the device and I can activate and use it until I receive the replacement one. Btw, upon activating also found that the ear-piece had issue. The voice coming out was always scratchy.
Upon receiving the replacement device, I went to My Verizon order history to print the return shipping label. I clicked on the button and confirmed all info and clicked on the button to print but it turned out that it pops a new window and blocked by popup blocker. Again, upon returning to the order history, I saw the the button to print again. I thought again, I will have to go to the info page to confirm details. But this time, it just blocked the popup.
Now, I don't get option to re-print. it says, label reprinted date and the tracking number.
I called customer service and the rep told me that I can go to any verizon wireless store and they will process the return. The store says, they can't and if they do, they'll charge re-stocking fees.
Not sure, why can't they send the label in an email or allow to re-print etc.
Any idea if there is any other option?
    Thank you

Create your own FedEx label and pay for it out of your pocket. By doing this it will cost you roughly 6 bucks to send it back but then you get control over the contract for shipping. You can launch the investigation when Verizon says they have not received it, or you can provide the weighed shipping label once the box was in FedEx's hands so when Verizon claims the box was empty you have other proof. You can also add insurance to it so if anything really does happen you are not charged.

  • Upgrade policy - a solution (of a sort)

The terms of use of Discussions expressly forbid "Discussions of Apple policies or procedures or speculation on Apple decisions."
Since just about any discussion of the fairness or implications of the lack of a discount for the new version of iWork (for or against) will violate this term of use, it is pointless to do so here. The comments will eventually get deleted in their entirety or edited to the point of removing all references to non-technical aspects of the subject, assuming there are any.
If you don't like the iWork policy, write Apple (office of the CEO, CFO, or whatever seems most relevant), use the product feedback pages, post your opinions at your favorite independent Mac site, or even write your local newspaper or contact consumer protection agencies if you think Apple is doing something so egregious they would be interested. This at least will avoid the frustrations of seeing your posts disappear or be edited.
BTW, note that AppleCare is not an appropriate channel for this either, other than possibly for obtaining appropriate contact info. The Applecare staff don't set policy, so it is pointless to demand that they do something about it.
    Some links that may help:
The Apple Store (U.S.) Returns & Refunds Policy page
Apple - How to Contact Us
    Apple - Product Feedback

I'm not implying anything. I'm explicitly quoting from the terms of use & explaining in as plain a language as I can manage what demonstrably happens when this term of use is ignored.
In at least one (now removed) topic people commented on the 'mysterious' disappearance of an earlier topic devoted to discussion of Apple's iWork upgrade policy. There is no mystery: if you do this, & there is no technical issue centrally involved, the post & probably the entire topic will be removed.
    Likewise, "ranting" is expressly forbidden.
This is a forum intended for technical discussions of Apple's products, by & for its users. If your post isn't focused on this, it probably is wasted effort.

  • Creative's policy on RMA'ing second hand go

Hi, I'm just writing with something of a general enquiry regarding Creatives returns/RMA policy, particularly pertaining to second hand goods.
I have recently purchased an X-fi Soundcard second hand which i am expected to recieve shortly, after the purchase went through, i was informed by the seller that "the card doesnt work in my machine" and thus it may be damaged... oh joy.
Essentially, i am wondering whether Creative would still accept an RMA on the item if it did turn out defecti've, or if its second hand status would void any chances of an RMA. If it has any bearing, i am UK based.
    Many thanks in advance

    Jakk,

The serial number was included in the box ARD came in; the Apple Store will not have a record of it. If you've lost the serial number, you'll need to purchase a new copy of ARD, probably a good idea anyway since 2.2 won't run on any version of Mac OS X since, if memory serves, 10.4. It's a lot cheaper through the Mac App Store than it was back when you first purchased.
